Aquatic Discovery

Here you go:

Aria swam out in the open ocean aimlessly, deep beneath the waves, as she did when she just wanted to feel the water rush by. As her tail beat up and down, she considered whether she should head to the shoreline today. It would depend on the weather, of course; No point in going to enjoy the sun if it's blocked out by clouds. With this in mind, she swam up towards the surface, not being able to see the conditions of the sky from under the water.

As she went up, a large net suddenly dawned upon her .The large mesh entangled into her tail and she couldn't swim. She was pulled aboard, left just about on the water so she could breathe. On board was a scientist named Acacia. As the mermaid came up, she leaned over the side and whouted, "Pull it on board, it's a new species!!"

Aria panicked as she realized she'd just been caught in a fishing net. She struggled to free herself from it, even as the crew aboard the fishing ship pulled her up. Without any water to maneuver, she was helpless against the Humans that had caught her, since she couldn't move very well on the land.

Staring at the mermaid, Acacia sat down adn gasped heavily, not sure how to take this this. This was a breakthrough on such a huge scientific level. Acacia leaned down and puled the mermaid towards the tank they used to hold fish, putting her inside and blinking, "Can you understand me?"

Aria paid no attention to what the girl was saying in her panicked state. Instead, once she was put inside the tank, she darted around it quickly, ramming against its walls in the hopes that she might break something and escape. Of course, nothing gave, but she kept trying regardless. Her efforts soon weakened out of fatigue, and she started to simply float in the center of the tank while staring at Acacia.

Acacia bent down and called to the ship, "Back, take us to the facility!" She watched until finally the men scrambled and they all began to drive them back. the tank vibrated as she bent down again, "I said, can you hear me?" She yelled, "Or understand me?"

Aria jumped and moved backwards a little bit as Acacia yelled at her, nodding quickly. She stared at the girl, wide-eyed, hoping that she could either escape, or wouldn't be taken care of by this girl. She already didn't seem to like Aria very much, and she didn't want to speak to her as a result. Hopefully wherever they were going, she wouldn't have to.

Acacia wasn't sure how to speak to her. She gasped when suddenly she realized that the mermaid understood her! She leaned closer to the tank, speaking a little softer, "Can you please answer me?" She asked, opening a small hole in the tank just wide enough to put a hand through.

Aria looked at the hole, and back to Acacia. She was confused, and scared of the girl, which showed in the Mermaid's eyes as she stared at her. She simply stayed where she was, not approaching nor running away from the hole Acacia had opened. She wanted to speak, but a combination of fear and just not knowing what to say kept her from doing so.

Sighing, she left the hole open and yawned, looking up and shivering as she realized this wasn't going well. She waited until they got to the shore, where they called for a van. They left her on the boat and she sat next to the cage, "Are you alrgiht?" She asked, trying ot see if she could get at least a yes or no.

Aria considered her question. Physically, she was completely fine, nothing to complain about there. Mentally, she was still sort of panicking, though not as much as before. And she was afraid. Very, very afraid of what was going to happen to her now. And worried about her friends back in the ocean. And... Okay, her mind was basically a mess at the moment. She nodded her head in response to Acacia's question, deciding that, overall at least, she was okay.

Acacaia gasped again, once seeing that she could literally talk to her! Yawning a littl bit, Acacia called, "Come on, let's get her loaded up!" She was pulled into the van, where she was put in a ciruclar tube inside of the van. Sighing, she laid down beside her tank and rubbed against the glass, "Are you feeling alright? Can you breathe on land?"

Aria looked around her new container. It was very cramped in here, just big enough to fit her. She hoped she didn't have to stay in here for too long. She watched as Acacia laid down next to her and rubbed her hand on the glass, asking her another set of questions. She nodded yes to both. She was still overall okay, and she did have a set of lungs to breathe above the surface with.

Acacia whispered, "Fascniating... simply fascnating!" She began to scribble notes on a wet notepad, completely infatuated with this new creature. She yawned a bit before she asked moer and more questions, not sure whether or not she was alright.

Aria wondered just what she was doing, asking all of these questions, but she answered them all the same. She never spoke up until the first question that had to be answered vocally. Apparently, the idea that Mermaids were a kind of Siren turned out to be at least somewhat true, as the voice that came out was beautiful. To Acacia, Aria sounded like a music idol or something, someone with the absolute perfect singing voice. Of course, to Aria, her voice was average; And, to be honest, it wasn't really all that great in her opinion, at least in comparison to the other Mermaids she'd met.

Acacia gasped when her voice was heard. Her ears felt like she'd suddenly been given a full dose of... nectar. She bent down and opened the cage, mainly because she can't get out of the van if she wanted. She leaned in closer and smiled, "Howa re you?"

Aria looked up at Acacia. What was she doing? "Um... Okay, I guess... What are you...?" Her heart beat faster as the girl leaned closer, out of fear of what she was planning to do.

Acacia leaned in and laid her hand in Aria's arm, "I still... I can't believe this!" She looked to the tail and she couldn't help it: "do you grow legs on land?" She smiled widely, seduced by her voice.

Aria raised an eyebrow at this question, then shook her head "No, I... I don't..." She wondered why Acacia asked a question like that. Why would she grow legs? She'd been on the surface many times, and she hadn't noticed any kind of legs growing. Nor did she hear about this from the other Mermaids.

She cursed, "apologies. I was just curios." She leaned in closer and held the mermaids hand, stroking the thumb like a specimen. She whistled.

"It's okay." Aria told her. She stayed silent as Acacia stroked her hand, which was just like a Human's. Her mind wandered, and she started to wonder how long she'd be here for. She didn't ask, though, as she didn't want to bother Acacia.

Acacia whisteled and she finally coughed, "Oh... sorry. You're just... you're so amazing!" She let go and leaned back, "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I'd never hurt such a wonderful chance to learn! I mean... this is incredible!"

Aria smiled a little bit. Acacia wasn't going to hurt her, that was good to know. She also seemed... Fascinated by her. She understood why, Mermaids were similar to Humans, yet different at the same time. She couldn't wrap her mind around it, really, but she appreciated it all the same "You... Think I'm amazing?"
