Coming across a Lightning buddy, Squink was disappointed to find that she already had one of the types that she could potentially encounter in the field. Not wanting to waste the opportunity yet spend time and balls on the encounter, she grabbed a ball and a rock ready to get it over with and move on to whatever the next thing she found was.
"Get in or move on please, Mister Lightning friend! We don't want to waste eachother's time, but if you've seen any adorably cute little soft and squishy buddy-friends, would you send them my way?" Squink asked nicely of the wild Lightning buddy, readying her throw and catch attempt. Out of the types she wanted to combine with Sparkle, Lightning was unfortunately not one of them. Water was a likely choice she may go back for, but also the little white dragon friend she didn't catch was interesting to her. She had a weird feeling there had to be something yet to be discovered though.

With the Lightning buddy fleeing after her failed capture attempt, Squink's mood wasn't affected at all since it wasn't what she was hoping to find in the first place. Looking to her little world turtle friend Goober, she smiled and gave him a gentle headpat.
"It's okay Goober, we're looking for the perfect buddies so Sparkle can really come to live with a special and unique form, then with you and our unnamed friend we'll have the perfect trio of friends to call my own! Hmm.. speaking of which, what should we call our new monkey friend?" Squink questioned even though her little turtle couldn't talk, she just delighted in the adorable little sounds and movements and facial expressions of her friend too much to not want to talk to it. Pondering on the thought, she began continuing her stroll to look for another buddy to make her target, hoping this time it was something a lot more new and exciting. She crossed her fingers, hoping that the next encounter would be the dream merging buddy she was waiting to find.

Wandering along on her merry way, Squink stopped in her tracks when she noticed the familiar sight of a buddy that originally evaded her capture attempts. It was also the first one she tried using the little rock technique at, and she aimed to try it again with better luck this time. Grabbing both an empty ball and a rock, she glared at her elusive target.
"This time, I'm getting you on the first try! Maybe I'll even merge you with Sparkle, I do think you're an adorably cute one" Squink giggled, before seriously concentrating bakc on the Wind buddy that she desired to obtain this time. Readying her throwing arm, she was a lot more determined to get it this time as it may get her closer to catching all of the types, having not gotten a Metal one and the fact that she was somewhat convinced her quest to find them all would still not be over.

The attempt for a comeback by redoing the same thing and succeeding the next time was clearly not meant to be, as the cute little WInd buddy fled off leaving the ilithid rather dejected. Sighing and standing up straight, she huffed.
"Come on Goober, I'm still thinking of a name for our third buddy, but we have new catches to keep an eye out for. We'll find the perfect one for Sparkle, I just know it! There's no time to wait around feeling sad we didn't get the little windy one, but maybe another one will show up soon enough" she spoke, ready to keep on searching. Why was a name for a cute little sparky and icy monkey so hard to come up with? The other two were so easy.

"Ooh, I just passed by one of you a while ago, and you're not entirely what I'm in the market for... " Squink grumbled as she contemplated whether she should pass up on the Lightning buddy in order to conserve balls or just to throw a ball and rock in order to move on. Deciding that she wanted to stay out in the field for quite a while and be as stocked as possible in order to catch the buddy she was truly looking for, she opted to pass on this one. Maybe she'd throw a ball and a rock at the next, but took the option to at least save for the moment.

"Please tell your friends I'm looking for cute little white wind-dragon Buddies and any other species that might be out here in the fields~! I've already caught a Lightning one and am not in the market for another!" Squink cheerfully waved, walking along with Goober the little world turtle as she watched his stubby little legs trundle along, walking away from the encounter.

Now that they were free from the Lightning buddy encounter, Squink and Goober went along on their merry way in hopes of finding something truly new and special in order to have a grand time in the fields. If she found all she was looking for, she'd consider just going back to the beach in order to collect as many little turtle friends as possible, but then remembered she had yet to find a Metal buddy too. Priorities were hard when it was deciding between completing her buddy collection or just collecting cute turtles.

She grabbed a ball along with a rock, even if it wasn't the most efficient strategy that often left her disappointed she was determined to make it work on the first one that fled from it. Steadying herself and trying to concentrate on her throw, she didn't want to waste balls on this one guy yet really wanted him.
"Okay, I gave you... two chances, this is third time's the charm. Get in the ball please, Mr. Windy-Dragon friend, so we can explore the rest of the fields and find the crucial piece to my good beautiful bird Sparkle" Squink answered, staring at the Wind buddy that was eluding her capture so. She was determined to get it this time and end the loss streak. Goober just watched on from the sidelines with his blank yet loveable little smile, doing his best to contribute with the motivation that was his mere presence.

If there were profits to be made Ryuuji was interested. The opportunity to get something else that held tangible value was appealing to say the least, particularly when it was for free and all he really needed to do was help gather data. He'd have the one piece of bait and ten buddy balls needed for the special operation. Looking around the laboratory, thankfully there was a sign which told him where to go which was helpful since it seemed the area had been pretty well cleared out. In addition finding something which Saoirse could use or sell could be a good deal at the end of the day irrespectively.

Ryuuji decided to go through the door to the pocket dimension when all was said and done, putting a great deal of faith that whoever was responsible knew what they were doing. Thankfully this wasn't his first rodeo with this type of strange stuff.
