Hadbury Locations

Alpharetta,_Georgia_City_Hall.jpg

City Hall - Built back right before the Civil War started, this is the oldest building in Hadbury. While the exterior has had only minor repairs and updates done over the years, about five years ago there was an interior remodel. Old pipes and wiring had to be replaced and brought up to code. It was at that same time, the Mayor and City Council decided to merge a few different offices together. So on top of housing the Mayor and their staff, the Records and Historical Society share City Hall. It's located in the town square, just behind Main Street.

Town Square - This is where all the fun stuff happens. Every parade starts here, every festival, every dance and live band. The Fourth of July celebration and Trunk or Treat. Every Thursday from the start of spring until the beginning of winter, there's a Farmers Market. Anyone can show up and sell their homemade goods. During cookie season, the Girl Scouts are relentless and set up on every corner.

Hadbury Highschool - Hadbury Highschool houses about 250 students, some times more thanks to the extra classes offered once a month. It's an old building, the AC sucks, the cafeteria is a little gross, but it has a quaint charm to it. Most of the staff is pretty friendly, the lunch ladies especially, but like every high school...it does still suck. Bullies aren't often handled the best, everyone raises the ground the cheerleaders and football stars walk on, and Ms.Nussam the 10th-grade math teacher is a horrible witch of a woman.

Main Street - Main Street is where you find the cafes, boutiques, and other stores that don't make sense anywhere else. There's Lemon and Lime, a cafe that keeps summer going year-round. Juniper, the expensive boutique that sells custom clothes for parades and festivals as well as makes sure the guys and gals all have something nice to wear to prom. Andrea's Sweet Treats is the best ice cream-parlor in Hadbury, not that the others are bad, but this one just takes the cake. Speaking of cake, The Dansbury Sweet Stop is the best bakery, your main destination for cakes, pies, and cookies. There's also The Deli for your every sandwich and expensive roast need, Odds and Bobs, a hardware store, and a few other neat places.

The Downtown Apartments - The apartments are a fairly easy place to rent, but there's a bit of stigma around them. Not many of the locals actually live in the buildings, it's mostly for people who just moved into town or those here for work. They aren't bad apartments either, most of them one-bedroom with a small but decent kitchen and enough living space for one or two people. Beside the apartments are a 7-11 tailored to look like the rest of the town, a small natural candle store, and then finally a house that's been for sale for ages. It's officially a fixer-upper by now.

The Swamp - Technically it's bordering a wetland, but regardless, these houses are on the border of it. And despite the name, this is where the old families, the old money live. Five old colonial homes fill this border, and not many people just get to go an visit. They're friendly people, at least they try to be, but it's been 10 generations and those families have yet to lose those houses.

Donan Lake - This is the most popular sight in Hadbury. At least during the summer. It's open year-round for swimming, fishing, and using your boat. But you need to be careful. Snakes and gators are known to roam the waters, so Gus Donan goes out and checks the water every day for their activity. If the lake is closed, then you know it's because he found something and it's not safe. But...nobody can really stop you now can they?

Tops/Tom's - The only grocery store in Hadbury, this is where a lot of teens have their first job. Tom's, technically Tops, is nothing like Food Lion, Harris Teeter, or Trader Joes. It's like IGA, a chain grown in the south. Though the man who owns this one if Tom Hansen. A kindly older man who is often wandering around the store keeping the place clean. You can find anything you need here, though special items for gluten-free people and the like are in very short supply.

Hadbury Police Station - The men and women in blue who make sure that during their very boring shifts, nothing happens. They get calls about wild animals in yards and kids stuck in banisters more than get calls about crime. A drunk or a loud fight is about the most action they ever get. Which is okay, you'll often see them controlling around, making sure kids get home safe after school or playing games while still on duty because it's really that boring. At least for them.

The Hadbury Fire-station - Recently rebuilt after an ironic fire, their back and ready for action. Unlike the boys in blue, they see a bit more action. Often on standby for the festivals, responding to an out of control fire near the lake or a kitchen fire, they're decently busy.
