Fantasy Apocalypse: Not your typical 'zombie'

Casey started slightly as a figure waved at her. She sat back against the wall. She was never really social and meeting others could only add to the risk of injury. She remained behind the wall, sitting and listening silently. There was sudden roar of footsteps that echoed loudly off the walls. Casey pulled out her brother's switch blade quickly, grasping it tightly. The footsteps soon died down, replaced by the voices of the group of people. There was now a new voice. She heard two mention not being human; the new voice and another male voice. Maybe now would be the best time to leave before the situation gets dangerous. Her curiosity silenced her logic for another moment as she sat against the cold, concrete wall.

"Oh sweetheart I am a threat. And a big one at that. If I'm a threat to you? I'll leave that up to you. " Lazarus turns his gaze towards the young girl who spoke now. He regarded slowly and with a wicked smile. It also didn't escape his notice that she was grasping something inside her pockets. He didn't know what it was but it was probably safe to say it was some sort of weapon.

I awkwardly stepped backwards a bit. The zombie's response kinda scared me and I gripped mother's knife a little tighter now, plus it just sounded weird when he called me sweetheart. That smile he gave me especially creeped me out. I nudged the Puppet Man and quickly whispered to him. "I really think we should get somewhere safer, before this zombie decides we're his lunch or something.." I glanced around, feeling as if we were being watched, which wasn't surprising since we were pretty much in the open. I rest my eyes on the zombie again. I had a bad feeling about him, anyone logical would, he was a zombie anyways.

"Hey now those eyes are just filled with racism. You honestly think we all just go around mindlessly chomping off on people like its all good? Granted a great portion of us do but not all of us its not exactly nice to just lump us all together like that. I mean we are obviously sentient aren't we? We can think, are self aware, have emotions, and can even think on a higher level. Exactly like you can. There's is almost no difference. Of course besides the GARGANTUAN GNAWING HUNGER hahahaha! The fact most of us don't feel pain. We can't die from most fatal wounds and are now biologically immortal heheh. If anything it sounds like we have more perks than being alive does. By the way I can smell someone around the corner. I think they are watching you guys. Oh I don't remember but I named myself Lazarus. Appropriate yeah?"

I stared at Lazarus in curiosity now. The creepy ominousness was no longer there and it was as if I was talking to a relatively normal person. "To be fair, you're only the second zombie I've heard of that doesn't immediately try to eat people.." I got what he meant though. I stopped holding mother's knife and took my hands out of my pockets.

"Oh but your right to be cautious. Im always looking for trouble. I love a good fight no matter how badly outnumbered I am. But none of you here seem like real fighters so its why I haven't really started anything."

Casey felt a gnawing feeling deep within her chest, almost as if she longed for something. She had no idea what though. She never needed anyone before and she had no desire to make friends. So what was this hollow feeling deep within her chest? She looked to the group once more before getting up and deciding it was best to head back before she got any irrational ideas.

(Slr, I was at skool >.>)

Reanne Reanne looked at the group, feeling weirded out. Great, She was talking to people who are capable of killing with no mercy whatsoever. She coughed, slowly inching away, the awkwardness was just too much.

I noticed the girl slowly backing away and decided it would be best to do the same. "Well... We should probably be going before any major danger hears us.." I nudged the Puppet Man's shoulder, silently asking him to follow.

Casey began down the tunnel, still gripping the switch blade. She let her mind wander aimlessly as she walked. Maybe I should talk to those people... No, making friends is only another unnecessary risk. Her argument with herself was cut off by the loud grumbling of her stomach. She suddenly remembered that that was why she had gone down into the subway. She was supposed to be looking for food. She felt the multiple pockets of her cargo pants until she found the can the girl Kio had offered her. She stared at it with giddy, hungry eyes. She felt like letting out a squeal of happiness, but manage to contain her excitement. She put the can back in her pocket, deciding to eat it when she reached her settlement. She skipped happily towards the exit of the subway.

It's been days, no weeks or maybe months since my mom died, someone has to be around here, I thought. I held on to one of my only possessions, my stuffed rabbit. I hugged him, for he was my only companion "Let's explore in here, someone has to be around here I'm almost out of food and I haven't seen a normal human being since my mom died" I told Sylvester once again. I headed to the Subway and heard footsteps from down the steps. I screamed, not knowing what to expect. "Are you a human?" She asked. @Deadly Darkness

Casey looked up to see a small girl clutching a stuffed rabbit. "Yes, I'm human. It's surprising to see someone so young as yourself still alive. Unless, is there someone else with you?" She glanced around quickly. There didn't seem to be anyone else around. She careful walked up the stairs, making sure she wasn't part of some group that took advantage of the kindness of others. Again there appeared to be no one around.

I smiled, " I'm Melanie. No it's just me and Sylvester" I said, showing her my bunny. I felt my eyes changed once more, probably from purple (scared or nervous) to its normal blue(calm) color. Forgetting that normally people's eyes don't changed I looked down, trying to avoid her seeing them. "What's your name?" I asked curiously. @Deadly Darkness

She watched as the child dropped her head. She watched curiously, but was drawn out of her thoughts by the girl, Melanie's, small voice. "I don't think it's wise you know my name." She looked back at the subway entrance. She couldn't leave the girl alone, but she still lived by her brother's words. "Though I know some people I believe would very much like being acquainted with you."

I looked at her with my now blue eyes and I was confused by her over complicated words, "Huh?" Was the only thing I could say to respond. I looked up at her, unaware that my eyes were changing once more this time a to a pastel yellow color(Confused) "Why do you keep your name a secret?" I asked, picking up my bag with some food, dirty clothes and a few more items.

She was about to try to come up with some answer to the little girl's question when she noticed her eyes were now yellow. Maybe it was just her imagination. "Umm, it's somewhat complicated, but I know some people who would take care of you and look out for you, that way you can survive."

I was upset, so she thinks I can't take care of myself, my eyes flashed orange(Irritated)"What?, I can take care of myself" I said, before remembering my incident a few days back, I quickly hid my arm behind my back sos he wouldn't think that she was weak.

Lazarus raises an eyebrow with an amused smile upon his face. Did she really think that Lazarus hadn't noticed what she was trying to do. This however sent his hunter's instincts into a frenzy watching her back away intimidated and so he started taking a few steps towards her. For every step she took back, he took one forward, maintaining the same distance and hopefully creating further intimidation. He played coy while he did this, "Yeah, are there any people around that might be worth fighting? You know I've found out that the more skilled someone is.." Lazarus shows a full row of teeth "The more absolutely exquisite they taste."

The creepiness from earlier quickly returned and I stopped moving, realizing that Lazarus would just copy me. "If what those people say is true, then you don't want to eat me.. Really, I'd taste awful..." I noticed Puppet Man hadn't moved at all. Was he in his own little world? I resisted the urge to grab him and run off, since I knew Lazarus would most likely chase after us and quickly catch up. I wondered why Lazarus had said that about skilled people. Even he must've easily seen how bad of a fighter I was.. Not to mention how weak I was..

She watched as the girl hid her arm. She wanted to insist she meet the group in the subway, but Casey herself didn't believe in needing others. Her eyes flicked around the area before she let out a inaudible sigh. "Alright, well I wish you the best of luck. It was nice meeting you." She gave one last smile before walking towards an apartment building. "Good luck Melanie." She called over her shoulder.

Vladimir had been walking for days now. His chain needed cleaning and he needed a moment to rest. He wandered around noticing signs that some things had been there recently. He began to twirl the chains around to be ready in case he needed to defend himself. He heard voices, and the mention of strong people tasting better. He felt annoyed at either the fact that a zombie was tormenting someone or that there was a cannibal out there. As he went down into the subways, he saw a zombie and a girl. Quick to attack, Vlad wrapped his chain around a nearby metal trash bin and flung it towards the zombie. "Duck girl!" Vlad yelled hoping she might actually listen.

I heard someone shout to duck and it took a moment to register in my mind that be was talking about me. I dropped to the ground and took Puppet Man with me. It was getting relatively annoying that he hadn't been paying attention at all, and if I didn't know better I'd say he was sleeping with his eyes open. I wondered who the heck had shouted..

Lazarus's eyes open wider, pleasantly surprised. As the man shouted the loud warning Lazarus finds it funny that humans shout warnings to each other. Like if he didn't have functional ears. Lazarus side steps the trash can and cackles maniacally at the attack, "hehehehhahaAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh that was fun!" Lazarus dashes forward at a blinding speed and crosses the distance quickly to the point that he is standing close enough that the stranger can't retaliate with his whips because he doesn't have the space to use his whips without stepping back. The smell of blood could probably be smelled at the distance Lazarus was standing from the stranger, "Let's do it again yes?"

Reanne Well, shit. She was screwed. So majorly ubber screwed. She started to curse in any language she knows. She didnt want to fight, now this random dude started attacking out of nowhere. She took out her dagger, readying herself in case something else happens. She narrowed her eyes at the zombie, putting her game face on.

Vlad had fought zombies for a while, he was ready for him to get close and his boot was already moving to to hit it's ribs and if that worked, the chain he kept twirling had already changed directions, wrapping around his back to smash the zombie's leg or wrap around his own. Either worked for Vlad. He'd had practice with this chain, A LOT of practice. "Let's." Vlad's smirk was that of excitement. He could let out some more aggression towards yet another flesh bag that had gotten to big for his britches.
