Secretly an Alien, Shhh
Hey guys! As a couple of you know, I'm production assistant for our school's production of Mary Poppins this spring. The only thing is, we're an underfunded school, and we're kind of at a standstill.

We can't make the cast fly with a rig. It's waaaaaaay too expensive. We've decided to use the cyclorama, but we want to avoid projection and don't have the appropriate filters for a cloud effect.

Any ideas how we can pull off a cloud effect without having to go to the store?

We'll probably be lighting the cyc from the bottom, but we're not sure if we're setting up the lights upstage or downstage yet and will be testing it later. We can sort that out easily, but cloud texturing? Anyone?

Hey, wanted to follow this up to see if you ever managed to sort it out? If not - you can buy those things that slide onto lights (Sorry the name's gone out my head) and they project shapes. That's the easiest way I can think of. I hope this production goes/went well! My college was going to do Peter Pan but our techies said they didn't want to do safety tests for flying so we settled for Cinderella instead :')
