One Time Luck
So I watched The Lion King/+ Simba's Pride the other day. Out of nostalgia, I'm really keen on creating a role-play based during Kiara's reign with a new band of characters. I'm aware that there aren't usually male lions in prides unless they're young (and waiting to be kicked out ( 
)), but I'm encouraged to include more males since in The Lion King 2, Kovu asks Simba to "humbly join his pride". I'll making the choice out of sentiment, really, and am planning to focus on monarchy and primogeniture in regards to pride leader dynamics. That way, succession to the crown is hereditary, and the pride members will recognise the "royal family" being Mufasa, Simba, and all the rest lions from that line. Males within the pride will not have any desire to challenge the current ruler, as that would be recognised as usurping. I understand that this isn't how a pride is run in the wild, but I do want to make it more player-friendly, and similar to the films.
I think 4-6 players sounds cosy enough. It would also be a detailed RP.
The Plot:
As time has passed for Simba and Nala, Kiara and Kovu have taken their place as Queen and King. Ever since the Marriage of Kovu and Kiara, the Outsiders have been inducted into pride, no longer setting the two prides apart. With the help of royal adviser Rafiki and majordomo Zazu, the Pride Lands have been fertile in their succession, with diverse fauna and no sign of drought. Queen Kiara’s reign, so far, has been successful.
Sometime after the presentation of the princess, Zazu delivers King Kovu with rumours of a growing Hyena clan. He reports that the birds suspect that news of the Pride Lands’ prosperity will attract the clan's leader Banagi, and once he and the hyenas have gained strength, they will be a threat to the lands. Queen Kiara and King Kovu have since appointed males of the pride with the responsibility of patrolling the Pride Lands, while the birds, meerkats, and cheetahs watch the outskirts.
The role-play begins as Queen Kiara assigns two huntresses, the best of the lionesses to accompany and train the princess on her first hunt. The princess manages to successfully kill an antelope to the huntress’ surprise. As they continue, they overhear birds gossiping above them, regarding hyenas being sighted in the Pride Lands. Soon enough, they stop to witness a group of pridelanders chasing away two hyenas that have been reported stealing kills.
