Anteheroes

I just realised that Blayre's going to wake up to one hell of a day (again) if they run into Obsidian's forces. xD
 
The problem is that I forgot to put it in my character sheet. >.<


Our heroes wouldn't survive a direct clash with an entire army, especially as a group. Groups aren't sufficiently mobile enough to dodge armies.
 
They can flee and just fight the vanguard.


 
And it's not that big of an army. More of a large bandit group.
 
And then get the rest of the army's attention.

...maybe I should just delete the offending post and cut my losses. -_-
 
Looks like I'm stuck then.


In the subplot I had in mind, Gwen & Blayre get to know each other better, Gwen gets show another side of her character, then her eventual reconciliation & character development with Jonathan...down the drain. And it doesn't even preclude the others getting action; after all, Jon's delay could have cost them. And they'd at least have a reason to get a move-on.


But none of this makes any sense if the army is just a bunch of ill-trained bandits. Just screw over my character, why don't you. Now she looks like a freaking idiot.
 
Their not ill-trained, they are extremely well-trained, there are just not that many of them to classify as a massive army. More of a small elite group with many bandit-followers.


 
There are enough that the anteheroes have no chance of winning. Especially when they are the target. Basically... run.

I mean, there's still time to simply alter your post. Two people have commented after you said something, and one of them wasn't very detailed. I'd guess that Kuro would be fine if you want to change it, can't speak for him though.

Love the usage of the Latin language, by the way! I was wondering, though, if Fern would be able to understand her? I never specified he was fluent or understood other languages, but since he is a scribe, and a traveling one at that, it wouldn't be hard to believe. However, if the intention was for her to be incomprehensible, I'll refrain from doing so. ^.^

Admittedly, I did like the idea of where Thin was going with Gwen and how it specifies there's something more to her than meets the eye (at least when considering her app in Character feedback, then the fact she's 50 years old yet looks like she could be in her twenties or early thirties, and her max age is 1000). But I think the problem here is that a plan was made without the consent of a few persons, one which is very important which is that of the host of this very RP. If the plan contradicted with the one the host made, that can create numerous problems especially when they have no idea what's going on.


There's also the issue of how the "plan" is introduced in a post. It's always best not to make assumptions of how someone else's charcter may react, unless you asked before hand. They will likely end up doing something completely different instead, which can alter your original idea/intentions or even ruin them entirely.


In short, an Rp works a million times better when teamwork is involved. Everyone has a chance to use their ideas and subplots, and even able to expand them and make them even better by including others! I understand the need for surprise (I always enjoy surprises) but sometimes it may not work if you don't include the ones who are affected. This doesn't mean you have to give it away entirely, but a heads up may be nice. Plots, character developments, and so on can still be saved if we just talked it over a bit more and each party is undrstood, the Rp isn't going anywhere =3


Anyway, I'll stop talking now. Thought I'd throw my own two cents in, haha. ^.^;

To be fair, the sheet was known (it was just in interest checks), and nobody complained then. I am a big fan of making a well-running story together. So I'll post my thoughts.


-I am fine with Gwen's current state as Soul in an artificial(?) body. And I already plan for necromancers to be very interested in finding out how that works. Which is Nefarox' current goal, he doesn't particularly care about the Demon King's life yet.


-I don't plan on Arcanus doing much interesting things, in all fairness he's just there so that I can follow the hero group. I'm much more excited about his reincarnation (Rincewind copy).


-Thought it might be fun to introduce HWWB by making him bully Blake into demon-mode. @TheJipan
 
Well. Lesson learned: team up with other players. Guess it shows how little experience I have in *joining* RPs (I usually host them).

Seeing as a demon army is approaching, would it be a good time for my character to be introduced?
 
Not a demon army, just humans and zombies. And if he is mostly antagonistic that is not strictly neccesary. He doesn't have to live in that specific town. He can come from anywhere really, do you want one of my bad guys poke your guy until superpowered evil side comes out?
 
Actually, I was thinking of a something more trivial, because he's still not able to control himself so changes explosively. I was thinking something more like stumbling over a tree root and getting angry...


I'm tired right now, so I'm going to sleep.

There was never any intent of it being incomprehensible. I had assumed that since Fern was a scribe, he would understand some of her mutterings. The bigger question is whether the others understand her.

I dunno, sometimes I feel like things are best left random. I had Blayre faint because I wanted to promote a spontaneous response. I don't really enjoy people pondering over what they're going to say IRL. It's certainly not wrong, but if you're going to roleplay, I ( personally ) like to attempt to immerse myself in the character. When I respond, I try to do it quickly and in a manner that my character would.


I agree that some things should definitely be addressed in the OOC chat, though. That's basically the whole point.


Aaand I'm still unconscious. SMELLING SALTS, PLS!

I pretty much work along the same lines as you. When I write, it's not really me writing, but my character. They tell me what they're saying and doing, and I just try to keep up haha. But I do think it's important from time-to-time to consider the overall plot and where the story is actually going, otherwise if it was just left to "random" posts all the time, then the RP may have no direction to speak of.


That's speaking from my experience, anyway, perhaps it's different for others? Either way, I think there should be a balance and just a good sense of judgement is all, hehe.

I have an idea for how to introduce Atticus. He's walking through the forest, and trips over a tree root, causing him to go demon and start chopping down trees while charging towards the town.

I'm still going to wait a bit. If this was real life only a few people have made a few comments. I'll probably wait until Ein responds or something around those lines
