OCEANNA WOLFF
Oceanna wasn't sure if she fully believed that the customers were the excuse for Ezra's misery. Sure, sometimes they affected her that bad, where she needed to be home to relax and settle down after a shift, but with Ezra he seemed more carefree than anyone she knew. That's partly why she liked him so much, he was just different than the other people she knew. As he absent mindedly stroked her knee, she couldn't help but edge a little closer to him. But the moment soon ended with him apologizing and playing off like he needed a drink.

Oce hid the little rush of disappointment she felt when he stopped. That was another thing with him, it was like he was scared to push their friendship, and she didn't want to be the one to initiate that. If she lost him, a bit of herself would go with him. Which is why she did her best to keep their friendship fairly PG, or at least as PG as Oceanna could offer. "A drink," She paused and gave him her best thinking face, "I've got juice, water, milk, beer, and wine." But instead of waiting for an answer, she stood and made her way to the kitchen, the joint loosely dangling between her lips as she opened the fridge and weighed their options. They were already getting stoned, would he want to get cross-faded? Probably. The two didn't seem to care about much when it came to their own health.

Plus, it was New Years Eve, so wasn't it time to let a little loose? Snatching up two beer bottles, she opened them up at the counter and made her way back, plopping back down on the couch beside him while her legs rested over his lap, "a drink good sir!" She said in her best and worst British accent, instantly giggling at the lame joke. But the drug seeping into her body taking its affect made it seem way more funny than it actually was. "So tell me," She paused and readjusted herself so that although her legs were still hanging over his lap, she was sitting up more and her arm was rested over his shoulder, "what're Mr. Ezra's New Years plans." Normally this behavior would be odd for friends; the subtle flirting, draping off of him, and snuggling so close. But for Oce, especially while she's high, there were no boundaries. Especially because this "friend" had her heart.

CLOVER JASPER
At the mention of Iraq, Clover tilted her head in curiosity to see if he would elaborate. The statement seemed to hollow and distant, and when he didn't elaborate she hid her frown by looking back up at the sky. When his hand rested on hers, but quickly pulled away, she smiled and reached down to take his hand. She didn't know why, but she wanted to take comfort in him, or him with her. His hand touching hers felt like a tiny electrical current running through her, and she enjoyed that feeling. There wasn't many people she could see herself enjoying the company was.

That was the tricky part of following one's intuition. If someone didn't give her a good vibe from the start, then they weren't worth the time and care that she would put in to them. But then there were guys like Mick, people she just met who shouldn't seem like a likely person she would find herself connecting with, but here she was. She'd trusted him so easily to bring her to an empty house to watch fire works. "I've travelled a lot," she said, pausing to break the tension that his mention of Iraq had unintentionally brought, "it took me a long time to find this place, town after town, people who don't accept me or my lifestyle, but this town is good." She told him. The shawl was proving to be the wrong choice to be out at midnight in, as the little breeze that rushed through sent goosebumps all over her skin.

"I think it takes a while to find the peace we all deserve." She said quietly. She could tell he was fighting with something, unsure if it's from his past. But she could read people. Their body language, their mannerisms, and the look in their eyes were all things she paid attention to. It's how she differentiated the good people from the bad. And normally she wouldn't give her energy to someone like Mick, who clearly has something going on, but the kindness in his eyes drew her in. So, she moved closer. Not just for warmth but because she was drawn to him like a magnet. And she was just about to thank him for bringing her to this balcony, when the hollers and cheers of people in the distant began to sound throughout the town. Checking her watch to confirm, the time read midnight and she smiled up at him, "happy New Year."

Billie Benson

Stassi knew that it was coming. That Billie would want to just stay in especially with what she was dealing with on twitter. It never failed - most of their nights ended up this way and she was always prepared for it. It was the reason she kept her house stocked with Billie's favorite snacks and things. It was the reason she kept her movie subscriptions wide open and had all of her favorites in queue. You could ask Stassi anything about what Billie liked, and she'd be able to describe it to the t.

So it was no surprise to her when Billie asked her could they stay in. It was also no surprise to her when she didn't bother to wait for her response. This was a routine at this point, so it was nothing new for them. Billie had led her to the kitchen to gather the snacks that were so meticulously placed and organized, and if it weren't for the fact that she didn't do it herself and had paid someone else to do it, she might have been frustrated by Billie's lack of.....hmm...decorum? But that was part of what Stassi fancied about her. She was such a departure from Stassi's own world.

Despite the turmoil throughout her life, Stassi was born almost literally with a silver spoon in her mouth. If it weren't for her own hard work to become an olympic gold medalist, she might have never broken a sweat in her life. So she was attracted to - appreciated someone like Billie. It was such an improvement over Derrick too.

"Ha, you know I always pick the movie right?"
she asked as she moved to sit on the couch. She poured herself some more win and took a long sip as she thought,
"Do you want to try something new tonight? Something scary?"
She chuckled as she took a bite of a piece of chocolate and grabbed her remote to flip through the apps on her television.

Jesse Casablancas
Maul the world like a carnival bear set free
The couple didn't speak as they trudged begrudgingly into the Kennedy residence, no lively chatter amongst them to match the energy of the other partygoers. In fact, the tension radiating between them was so thick, you'd need a chainsaw to cut through it. Which was nothing new for them, really. But Jesse was in a particularly shitty mood today, and taking it out on his girlfriend had earned him the brutal silent treatment he was getting from her now.

He peeked over at her, but his pride kept him from leaning in to whisper an apology. Instead, his brilliant blue gaze flickered around the crowd, wondering if Kaz was even actually there. That asshole was the only reason the loner had even bothered showing up to this thing. Kaz had somehow caught wind of his hacking skills, and expressed some interest in commissioning him for some shady project–Jesse didn't know the details, he didn’t wanna know. The more plausible deniability, the better. He just wanted to do his job and collect on the fat wad of cash Kaz was offering for it. Maybe he and Sam could actually escape this black hole of a town, if he could convince her to leave her needy-ass family for five minutes.

Jesse had stopped by the club earlier to talk business, but as usual, some pressing matter came up that required Kaz’s immediate attention. As some lame consolation, he promised he'd be at the big New Year’s Eve party, and they should meet up for a drink to discuss it later. Jesse knew there would be fuck all business going on in the middle of a party full of witnesses, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to just do what he wanted, maybe try to get on his good side so Kaz might see him as an asset. Besides, he wasn't about to start demanding things from Kaz Milyukov. The guy was supposedly a fucking murderer. Capable as he was of playing it cool and collected, deep down, Jesse was actually kinda terrified of him.

In lieu of an apology, Jesse reached out to cautiously take Samantha's hand, waiting for her to pull away from him. His younger brother, having tagged along with the couple, was mumbling something, making Jesse have to turn around in annoyance to hear what was being said. Something about going off on his own. Possibly. Gavin was such a clueless dipshit, he probably didn't realize he needed to speak up to be heard over the loud party, and his simpering little voice was tapdancing on Jesse's last nerve.

“Whatever, bye,” He snapped. “If you don't answer your phone later when I'm ready to go, we're leaving your ass here.”

Jesse barely noticed what a dick he was being until Samantha piped up to tell him. “The fuck is your problem?” He asked exasperatedly, fixing his glare on her, and it clearly made her want to leave his presence immediately. She knew how much he hated it when she walked away without answering him. Now livid, Jesse caught her arm just as she moved to storm off, his firm grip forcing her to turn back to him.

“Don't.” He commanded through gritted teeth. His voice simmering with a low boiling rage, just as his eyes did. “Don't. Walk. Away from me.”

Yohan Cho
I am just one true identity theft.

The knife smites down. The juvenile brood of calcots line of flame in the wok, smoke-searing and curling mellow.

The world tasted burnt—or rather the mild loneliness did.

His apartment was a habitation made of organized wilderness to keep his heart distant from everyone and everywhere. The floor was paneled with rich wood that oozed with a natural fragrance. Herb copses faired counters and humble strokes of inked art thatched his walls with meticulous bamboo pins. Clean rocks, tabletop waterfalls, guarded one wing to the next.

The bachelor’s eyes, brown lightless temples, seemed to ruminate on the aromatic oil sizzling in falling floods. He yoked the wok a couple times. The tension preyed into his shoulder causing him to rhythmically buck and loosen.

“It’s growing tender,” Yohan murmurs to Baloo who had greeted the nearby island counter with a yawning meow.

But, unlike learning and practicing the precisions of making meals supple and tender, his personality was bleak and obdurate.

“You haven’t changed at all,” blazed Derrick in parting. Hours before, his friend had come for New Year’s wishing. Derrick had cast anchor on a chair, supped and drank well till his cheeks pillowed valentine red. It was a simple habit of their old friendship: Derrick snored, woke up, brawled with his cat, and talked till Yohan was sure even his flourishing basil and thyme sat under confusion.

Yet, Derrick wasn’t wrong.

His heart still unendurably tore at the name of Danielle, and for most days, he still sundered more than the seaside ocean towards perfecting an imitation that wasn’t him. In his method of madness, he felt vulgar, ruined and ill.

At his kitchen casement window, sojourned an incense burner. It was unexpressing and burning with scant fumes of aster that were unable to subdue the dire anxiety gathering in his throat.

It’s me. I ruin everything-

“Should we go help Milk’s umma?” he fetched a hand under Baloo’s chin, one long shower later. It had left his skin cardinal, as he had begged the soap to unsully him through his rough scrubbing.

As it that was a pleasant suggestion, Baloo snoozled her flank against the back of his palm and purred.

“Do I dress casual or professional?”

M-e-O-W.

His foot swelled on the acceleration, then fell as he approached the gas station. The car lulled to a stop.

He bore his eye on Celeria longer than he cared for a brief moment in the car. He was stricken to say more than a few complacent words, but the radio came forth in a grace. So, he straightened the wheel, and they drove home.

When she bought him strawberry custard, his mind defiled.

A pain thronged in his ribs: did he deserve any kindness?

At the same time, he couldn’t repress the pleasure the gift had given him. It interminably led him astray. He saw her with a renewed attraction. Open-hair, graceful brows endearing raven eyes of every range of dark tints…

Though moths were attracted to light, Yohan would’ve gladly accept becoming an even inferior, meek insect lured to the fascinating depths of the nightfall in her dark eyes.

Having seized his senses, he ever-moved to take the custard from her hands, gliding around the kitchen island.

“Not that sweet? Really? Where did the sugar go then?” Yohan’s voice was willowy, lance of spider silk and muse. He seemed to enjoy this moment a little too much.

With a playful mercy sated in his eye, he picked up a spoon from the cupboard and dipped it into the creamy, replete pink custard.

Slowly, his mouth descended on it. Lavishly, his tongue rifted the silver spoon clean, his gaze unbreaking from Celeria’s witching eyes.
In his all-absorbing watch, he saw her slender form conscientiously tip forward in interest.

The tart saccharine rolled on his tongue, the whippedness of the cream matching the radiance of the ripe strawberries.

Cunningly, Yohan dropped the spoon into the sink, before valleying his weight on his palms to lean forward on the granite. His body arched to her midway across the counter. He paused a raking measure from Celeria’s face.

"I might lose my mastery when it comes to you," Yohan finally frolicked in acknowledgement, "Even more, I’d want to lose that mastery to you."

Then, he paces around, fingers revolving a spoon in a circular gyrating motion. It twinkles under the westering ceiling fixture as it tangelizes in turns around his fingers.

Then, the spoon bluntly assumes a calm repose as he holds it up to her, “You didn’t think I was only going to let you watch me eat right?”

Danielle hated parties.

It was a wonder why she got into the business that she did in the first place. Raves were different, though. That was her element up on the stage making people happy. There was something about all those neon lights that pulled Danielle in. She wasn't sure why.

The other half of her job, though... Danielle truthfully didn't care for it all at. The loud people. The drugs constantly floating around. Dani wasn't opposed to drugs, of course, she partook occasionally. It was the people who went too far. The people who would pass out because they took too much or worse. The people who pushed them and the people who couldn't go a day without some kind of fix. Those were the people she truthfully couldn't stand.

Of course that wasn't the job she was doing on New Year's. This was her side job, the one that truly pays her bills and lets her live a comfortable life. The one that drove her ex mad. She had a true love hate relationship with it, really. On one hand Danielle hated the idea of sleeping with people for money. Often she didn't even get the chance to enjoy it anyway. It was degrading and she knew that people looked down on her for it. Unfortunately, though, it was a necessary evil.

On the other hand Danielle loved it. It was freeing. She had complete control over who she brought in and when she had them. She could set her own prices and she knew her own worth. It was liberating. The best part, though? It pissed Alexei off. It drove his fury and made him chase her more. It made him beg her to be with her and made him needy for her which was truthfully all she wanted. She wanted him to want her.

Danielle paced the halls of the Kennedy residence, a house she knew all too well. Partially because the daughter of the Kennedy's threw parties like this every other weekend and it was a prime place for to scope out new clients. Well... that and one of her more frequent clients was the man of the house. she was bored out of her mind. Sure this party had a lot of big names, people she had seen many times before. A lot of them already were clients of hers, though. Many of them were there with their significant others.

It was perpetually boring.

Hunting eyes scanned the room, searching for her next victim, until they landed on a semi familiar face. She tried to summon up his name. Julian? That's probably it. She had only seen him once or twice before but hadn't quite had the chance to swoop him up. Danielle fluffed her hair and adjusted her dress, making sure he looked good before making her way over to where Julian stood, flashing him a smile and striking up a conversation with him.

"Well hello, chéri, how are you tonight?" She purrs, fluttering her eyelashes and offering him a playful smile, "Enjoying the party?"

As he heard Ari approach, the rattling of her bag giving her away, he let his face fall into a neutral expression. Hayden thought he looked cooler if he wasn't grinning like some dopey idiot. But, as he turned his head and saw her he couldn't help the soft smile that came over his face. Her presence always seemed to soften him ever so slightly, made him feel safe enough to relax a little.

"Honestly, me too," he chuckled in response to Ari's doubts about him showing up. "Sounds cool. Are those the crystals?" He asked as he stood and took a step closer, gesturing to the black bag she was holding. As soon as he asked, he cringed internally. What a stupid question, of course they were. Hayden tended to say a lot of things without thinking, especially when trying to seem cooler than he actually was. He hoped Ari didn't think too lowly of him with his obvious fumble. "Oh, you look great by the way," He said. Although the compliment being his way of attempting to redeem himself a bit, it was one hundred percent true.

He proceeded to the sandy shores of the beach, following along towards wherever Ari thought the ideal crystal cleansing location was. Luckily, he'd had the foresight to wear sandals so he didn't have to deal with socks and shoes in the sand. "So, explain this again. What's this cleansing... energy thing supposed to do?" He really didn't know what he was talking about and it showed in the way he ever so slightly stumbled over his words. His laid back tone of voice usually made it sound like he didn't care, but this question was different. He really did want to know, it seemed like a pretty important thing to Ari and he had legitimately no clue how it worked. Besides, if these crystals could actually improve a person in some way, maybe it would be something useful for him to know.

Ezra watched Oceanna get up and go to the fridge, she didn't even seem to wait for a response after she listed drink options. She probably figured he wanted a beer, she just knew him like that. "Beer me," he nodded, confirming the obvious choice. Who gave a damn about self care? He wanted to get properly fucked up. He sat there in silence, smoking as she opened up the beers. His intense gaze fixated on her as she made her way back. She was absolutely perfect.

When she handed him the bottle, offering it up with a cheesy British accent, he snapped out of it, blinking once and scrunching up his nose before giving a small huff of laughter. "You should think about going into comedy. I mean, your hair already makes you look like a clown. Like... a really sexy clown though." He took a sip of the beer, the weed was already making him more confident with his ridiculous comments and he knew the drink would only make it worse. Or better? It was all a matter of perspective, and he didn't care either way. Tonight was probably going to forever be known the night he got crossfaded and said something that ruined his friendship with the best person he'd ever known, might as well embrace it.

Oce took a seat with her legs on his lap and an arm over his shoulder. A million different thought swam through Ezra's head and he tensed up a bit. Maybe he was dead? No, that would be too easy. Although, he felt more at ease upon putting together that their current proximity likely meant that she wasn't uncomfortable with his earlier stroking of her knee. He relaxed his body a bit after this. He took another sip of the beer, then set it on the ground. Maybe it was the reassuring thought, maybe it was the weed, the beer, or maybe it was just his deepest desire, but he let a hand rest on her thigh, slowly tracing gentle circles on her skin with his thumb.

He rolled his eyes a little at her New Years question, "I'm going to get ridiculously high, down this beer, crash here, and probably annoy you all day tomorrow." He flashed a grin, an uncharacteristic sight that was brought on by the thought of spending time with Oce, but his face soon returned to normal. "But if you're asking about like... the entire new year then I have no fucking clue. What about you? You got some big plans up your sleeve, Miss Oceanna?" He mockingly did a British accent on her name, then blew a kiss her way as punctuation. He wasn't really sure why he did that, it did not tie into the British bit or the question he had asked at all, it just felt right.

Damian Bahrami was a very put together man, today was no exception. He was already ready to go, having only needed to touch up a bit from getting ready earlier in the day. He liked to keep a clean image, so he looked sharp. Possibly a bit too polished and overdressed for this New Years Eve party, but that was standard for him. Most people had never seen him wear anything but a suit, and he preferred to keep it that way.

Since he was ready to leave at any moment, he sat in his pristine home office going through some emails. He was just waiting for Gwen to be ready and he wasn't about to rush her out the door. He knew how important it was to look good, he respected the process. Plus, with how much Gwen spent on clothes it wouldn't help anyone if he dragged her out before she was done readying herself. Not that he cared how much she was spending, what would be an absurd amount for a normal person was average for him, but there was nothing worse than a six figure dress paired with with sloppy makeup.

He'd been dating Gwen a few months now, which was a long time for him. Most others either bored him quickly or got tired of his habit not paying attention to his partners, since they were rarely his priority. Gwen was a gold digger, clearly after his money. The cynic in him assumed most of her displays of love were only a ploy to gain his affection. She was vain and materialistic, spent more time with his money than him. He really liked her. She knew exactly what she wanted and went after it, didn't require his attention at all hours. There was also a sense that she needed him, made him feel in control, which he liked. Was it love? Probably not, he hadn't felt anything close to that in a long time. Neither of them was the most devoted partner either, both seeking entertainment elsewhere at times, which he saw as a benefit. It was an optimal relationship for the both of them.

Damian checked the time on his obsidian watch, it was getting a bit late. He figured he might as well check in, offer some praise to his lover. He made his way from the office to the bathroom Gwen was readying herself in, a quite frankly ridiculously lavish space for a simple room. He tapped on the door once in warning before making his way inside, setting eyes on the woman inside. "You look gorgeous, eshgham." He stood behind her and grazed a hand over her side, leaning over a bit to place a gentle kiss to her cheek. He wasn't always the most affectionate man, but he knew how to charm and liked to keep Gwen satisfied. He could make sure to give her his undivided attention once in a while.

BILLIE BENSON
Billie wasn’t sure why she felt so giddy this time hanging out with Stassi. But at the mention of a different movie, Billie nodded enthusiastically, despite horror movies really not being her type of thing. Not only did she not understand them, but they were just scary overall? Who found enjoyment in being scared. No matter what Stassi chose though, she would be happy to watch, only because she was happy spending time with her friend.

Once the movie began rolling, she at first thought it wasn’t bad. People get stuck in the desert with their RV, but as the mountain people began to torment the family, Billie began to hide under the blanket more and more. Completely covering her eyes at some points for the super gory parts. Not that she wasn’t used to the blood from butchering animals at the farm, but something about the fakeness mixed with the actors being human was just really off putting and sent shivers over her spin. She couldn’t help but wonder if there were actually people out there who did these sort of things, whether they were messed up looking or not, but that thought only scared her more.

And by the end of the movie, Billie was completely curled up to Stassie’s side, covering her face behind the girls shoulder and hair, “I’m happy the baby and the dad lived and all, but was killing the rest of their family really necessary?” She said, not looking up at the TV until the scary credit music was over, “I think I don’t like that movie.” She said with a laugh, finally peeling herself away from Stassie to grab her wine off the table, “well look at that, I was too busy hiding the whole movie to see we missed midnight.” She said with a pout.

Max Berkowitz

We accept the love we think we deserve.

“Sarah!”

Max was nearly knocked right off the front steps by his best friend careening into his torso, catching him in a tight hug… it didn’t matter how long it had been since they’d last seen each other; Sarah always greeted him with all the boundless enthusiasm of a golden retriever seeing its owner return from war. Of course, he didn’t mind at all. He returned the hug, casually ruffling a hand through her pink hair. It was nice, having someone show this kind of love. He could only hope to be able to show her the same.

She was saying something, her lips moving too fast for Max to catch what she was saying, but he saw her point to the bag of corn in his hand and tried to fill in the blanks himself. “Oh, this?” He said, out loud, though he couldn’t help but cringe a bit having to do so. “It’s just something for the ducks. I’m sure they’ll want food.” For his whole life, everyone from relatives to classmates to strangers had made it abundantly clear to Max that even after 9 years of speech therapy as a child, his speaking voice was undesirable. Too high, too far-back, strange prosody, muddled consonants, missed inflection… the little critiques and insults had latched deep into his brain and had a habit of replaying for him every time he had to open his mouth. He did his best to talk clearly, he really did, but being completely unable to hear himself talk meant that he had no way of knowing how to compare himself to others.

He made himself smile, trying to swallow the awkwardness and make sure Sarah stayed comfortable. Gently offering his hand to hold, the pair made their way off the front steps (Max making extra sure that Sarah locked the front door behind her) and started their usual stroll down the sidewalk. “So… how have you been?” Making conversation was never Max’s forte, but he made a concerted effort for Sarah. He’d seen the way people spoke about her online sometimes, and felt that it only further cemented his duty as her friend to make sure that she was respected and prioritized by at least one person in her life. Maybe she deserved a better person for the job than him, but as long as he was there, he was going to make sure she felt someone was really paying attention to her. “Seen any cool anime lately? I swear I’m going to return Evangelion, as soon as I find the box… I mean not that I don’t know where the box is. I know where it is, I just need to… uh, anyway. Nice weather out. Unless you don’t like it, in which case I’m sorry about the weather…”

Oceanna liked the way his hand felt on her leg but she didn’t mention it so that he wouldn’t take his hand away. It was probably the last thing she wanted, for him to retract. So she stayed leaning on him, patiently waiting for his answer and when he grinned, she grinned back, “oh please, at this point annoying me is just part of your daily routine.“ She said and shook her head, taking a swig from her beer as he continued.

“Plans? Isn’t sitting here with you, getting stoned and drinking with you plan enough?” She said with a nudge and put her drink on the table, “there’s only one party that I know of and that involved uppity rich kids partying in a house that I could only ever dream of living in. It’s a hard pass for me.” With that, she grabbed the remote off the table to flip through some movies. But, she settled on The Office before snuggling in to him while she let the booze and weed settle in.

After a few more drinks and laughing at the dumb show, she sat up and stretched her arms “well I’m sufficiently bored.” Checking her phone she noticed that the clock finally hit midnight and she grinned at him, “well happy New Year I guess.“ So she grabbed her drink and sat up straighter, “this is where you cheers me.” She said, a bright smile on her lips as she patiently waited for him to cheers with her.

No hard feelings

To say that Ellie was a little bit annoyed was like saying that Monica Lowes' food was a little bit underseasoned. Any moment now Lindsay was supposed to come over for their movie night. And instead of eagerly watching the clock and running to the door at the slightest sign of footsteps pattering down the hall, she had to fend off her ex boyfriend who just had to drop by and see their kid. Ellie wasn't an idiot. They both knew full well that Courtney would be asleep this time of night. But Jay would not be deterred and insisted on hanging around the house.

The redheaded Italian took a deep breath, her grip on the couch tightening as she attempted to collect herself. She could take Jay. She knew she could. As stubborn and obnoxious as he could be, she was equally so. She just needed to put her foot down and kick his ass out, just like she had when they were together.

Figlio di puttana. Mi stai facendo perdere tempo.” She murmured under her breath before making a beeline to the kitchen, where Jay stood, sandwich in hand. Where the fuck did he get that? “Jay. Seriously. You have to go. Lindsay's on her way.” She ordered, mustering up all the attitude she had in her body.

In a surprise to absolutely nobody, Jay didn't leave. The opposite, actually. He made his way to her couch and settled down, staring at her with puppy-dog eyes, the very same ones that made her melt like a popsicle when they first got together. Not(that she would admit it) anymore. "Out." Ellie hissed. She pointed to the door, alternating between glaring at it and Jay. No dice. Just the same dopey smirk.

Ellie knew that she had to be rational. Her daughter was sound asleep in the room nearby, she couldn't just start yelling at Jay, as badly as she wanted to. She had to be civilized. And so she primly picked a pillow off the couch and began to gently whack her ex boyfriend with said pillow. “Get. Out."

Jay didn't say much, too busy keeling over in laughter which pissed her off even more. He had no issue leaving her be when he had a girlfriend or fuckbuddy of his own. He had no issue leaving her be to fuck another woman. But the second he was single and needed some boost to his ego, he wanted to make time for her. There was no way in hell that Ellie would let him stay, especially when she could be spending the night cuddled up with her favorite person in the world.

“Don't laugh at me!” Ellie protested in an overly serious tone, completely oblivious to the fact that it made her more ridiculous. “You can see Courtney in the morning, now go. I'm sure there's a house party or bar you can fuck around in tonight." She takes a temporary break from hitting him like a whack-a-mole to settle into the couch. Her shoulders slump dejectedly, considering the possibility of having to hang out with Lindsay and Jay at the same time.

She could've stuck her head in the oven out of excitement.

I'm too busy acting like I'm not naïve
Much like she'd done all night so far, Xiomara snuck another glance over at her bandmate, admiring his handsome features from across the room.

God, he was so gorgeous.

The freshman actually breathed a pathetic little sigh of longing. She quickly averted her eyes when Alex shifted his gaze around, threatening to catch her in the act of staring. Xio turned to look away entirely, downing the last bit of champagne in her glass. The party was winding down, and Xiomara was beginning to wobble a bit in her platforms.

It was truly a beautiful engagement party. Scarlett looked stunning and Francisco was clearly head over heels for her; Xio had never seen him so happy. It’d been a lovely evening for the Alvarez family photo albums, but all she could think about though was Scar and Alex, trying to puzzle out what had gone wrong in their relationship. Sure, Alex allegedly cheated on her and Cisco seemed to hate his guts, but he couldn't possibly be completely at fault. Maybe Scarlett was a massive bitch to him or something. It was probably all her fault.

Yeah, as sweet as Scarlett was to her, she couldn't help but resent her for being the perfect girl that Alex adored. Xiomara didn't want to look at her anymore tonight. It was time to escape this party.

Xio hated the idea of sneaking out without saying goodbye to anyone, but she was quite noticeably buzzed at this point. Someone would no doubt insist on assigning her a babysitter to get her home, as if she was some little girl who couldn't find her way back. Everyone was always treating her like a child.

Xiomara fished her buzzing phone out of her tiny black bag, face reddening when she saw another message from her classmate. Normally, she never would've dreamed of asking a cute guy like Leo Barber for his number, but thanks to a class project they were assigned to work on together, Xio had insisted it imperative they stay in touch.

For a moment, Xio thought about trying to find her way to the party Jenny was at. It was in the super rich part of town, probably around here. But another idea set up camp in her brain and wouldn't go away, as much as she tried to squash it.

Normally, she never would've dreamed of showing up to Leo’s dorm room unannounced late at night. But apparently he was there all alone on New Year’s, and in her drunken state of mind, it seemed like a great idea to pay him a visit. It also seemed like a great idea to take a half full bottle of top shelf liquor that had been left alone on one of the tables, and covertly snatch it on her way out.

Xio stumbled down the street, taking a swig from the bottle of fancy whiskey, wincing as it burned all the way down. She thought about Leo and his kind eyes and chiseled jawline. How she'd stare at his big hands when he was furiously taking notes in class, wondering what he could do with them.

By the grace of God, she'd made it to the PSU campus without falling on her ass or getting nabbed by a serial killer. Good thing all the murderers of Paradise must have taken the holidays off, because she would have been easy pickings, staggering around in her clunky Mary Janes.

“Leo!!” The violet-haired girl squealed when he answered her many annoying knocks on his dorm room door, nearly knocking him over with an eager hug.

“Okaaay, hear me out,” She slurred. “It sounded like you could use some company. Plus I brought...,” Xio held up the stolen bottle triumphantly, thrusting it into his hand. “Booooooze!” Dissolving into a fit of giggles, she danced past him, doing a clumsy little twirl that ended in her plopping onto his bed to kick her shoes off.

Samantha Jones
It's my business if I have no friends and feel I want to die

If looks were weapons, Samantha would have achieved her goal of burning a hole into Jesse's prefrontal lobe by now. Not harsn enough to kill, just enough to make him bearable for the night. The two had been having one of those days where everything about the other was irrittating and it didn't take much to set them off. Whether it was the way Sam had nearly dented the car parallel parking or Jesse chewing a little too loudly on convenience store pizza. Eventually, a fed up Sam had just given up on talking altogether. Whatever. It wasn't as if she wanted to go in the first place. Jesse could fuck off and suck Kaz Milyukov's dick for all she cared.

Except a few minutes later, all she was left with was this anger festering inside of her and nothing to take it out on. She observed the harsh interaction between Gavin and Jesse. Ordinarily, she really wouldn't have given a damn. It wasn't as if she was the nerd's number one fan either. But in that moment, it was the perfect thing to bitch at Jesse about.

“Did you have to be such a fucking dickhead?” She hissed at Jesse as soon as gus brother walked away. "It's your own fault any of us are here in the first place so lay off Gav."

Clearly fed up, she turned away, hands still on her hips. "My problem? You're an ass. That's my problem.” She was done. Even though the prospect of roaming the party on her own was terrifying, anything was better than arguing in circles with Jesse. But before she could leave, an iron clasp fastened around her arm, forcing her to turn around and face him.

With all the strength she had in her body, the stripper writhed and twisted until she could free her hand. He knew how she felt about being yanked around. Before he could grab her once more, she quickly shoved him, not hard enough to fall, but enough to place a good amount of distance between the two. "Don't wait up. Do what you have to do with my boss, and get out. I don't want to see you again tonight.”

This was nothing new for the couple. Sam couldn't even begin to count the amount of times where she'd ditched him or he ditched her to cool off a little bit at public functions. Even if she did love Jesse, she just didn't like him most of the time. It didn't exactly help things that they were both usually too prideful to apologize or be even remotely sensitive. All they could do was snipe at each other and pray that it somehow distracted from their own vulnerable bits.

As she allowed the crowd to sweep her away, Sam crept to a corner of the room that wasn't quite as crowded. At a rager with half the town in tow, that was like being the tallest dwarf since every seat was still occupied. Undeterred, Sam set the bag she'd been carrying onto the ground and followed suit, sitting cross legged while she thought about her next course of action for getting out of this godforsaken party. and home where she could be doing some nice extra credit work.

The last thing she wanted to do was walk home to the shitty crime ridden side of town in the dead of night. Maybe she could just crash in one of the spare bedrooms? Possible, but there was like a 90% chance it would be full with people either in the same situation as her, or fucking. Text one of her coworkers if she could stay at their place, maybe? Sam fished her phone out of her pocket to send a few texts. "DAMNIT." She jumped up, startling a few passerby. No battery.

She'd left the charger in Jesse's car.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." She paced the corner of the room, her fingers gently massaging the temple as if it would somehow make her brain work faster. When it didn't work, she slumped to the floor with a groan. She pulls her legs close to her chest, and does something she would never ever admit to anybody in her life. She starts wailing. Loudly.

skylar's new year's eve party

One night. Just one fucking night. That was all he needed.

Asher had spent the entire year following his identical twin (Beck) around like a puppy dog and being his unofficial "social media manager" (which was absolutely necessary — Beck was a massive idiot). And while being the brother and roommate of a famous actor was pretty damn awesome, Asher was sick of constantly being in Beck's shadow. As much as Beck didn't realize it, he had a bit of an ego, and it was a royal pain in the ass for Asher. At times, he felt like he didn't have a name of his own; he was always "Beck's brother" or even just "the other one." Being notified about Skylar's party was a miracle from God Himself. For one night, he could escape all the stresses of the world, get drunk off his ass, act a fool, and not have to worry about Beck's potential shenanigans. He didn't usually take much time to himself, apart from when he was hanging out with his best friend, Dee. He knew he needed some more time to himself, some new experiences to form on his own. That was his goal for the new year. To live his own life.

Asher found himself in his room, getting ready for this New Year's Eve party, his twin nowhere to be found. He took his sweet time getting ready, carefully choosing every little detail to go along with his outfit. The opportunity to start completely fresh was one that didn't come every day, he knew he had to look absolutely stunning. He knew celebrities would be there, he had to make heads turn. He didn't care if he was being "too much" ... this was his night, and nothing could change that.

-

Minutes passed by, and Asher stood in front of his car, staring blankly for a moment. Taking his car would be a bad idea, as he planned on getting absolutely hammered at this party (as one does). But, on the other hand, Ubers were expensive as hell, and he didn't particularly want to go through all that hassle.

He let out a groan. He was thinking too much. Tonight was supposed to be fun, why was he always stressing himself out like this?

Fine. It's fine. Dee will be there. And there will be lots and lots of drinks.
...
Fuck it,
he finally decided, sliding into his car and starting up the engine, driving down the road. He eventually approached some sort of extravagant mansion, which rivaled some of the mansions he'd seen in Beverly Hills and Malibu. Was this really the infamous Kennedy Residence? It was obviously much more expensive than his smaller home which he shared with Beck — and Beck wasn't poor by any definition of the word. Needless to say, he was rather impressed as he stepped out of his car and slowly inched his way toward the front door.

Asher grinned to himself and turned the knob, pushing the door open, immediately being slapped in the face with the loud music, flashing lights, and mass of people. His grin grew even wider as he looked around and took in his surroundings. Parties were his natural habitat, almost as if being a "party animal" was somewhere in his genetic makeup. He let out a stupid, excited laugh, walking through the door, throwing it closed, and pushing his way past everyone, pulling out his phone and shooting a quick text to Dee, trying to find her.

After a while of looking, Asher eventually found his best friend. He grinned and gave an excited wave. "Dude, fuck being sober. Let's do something dumb," he said with a laugh. Whenever Asher wasn't with Beck, he was with Dee, and the two of them always did "dumb shit" (as he liked to call it) and got themselves into trouble. Usually, this involved drugs, nothing life-threatening, but nothing too basic, either. Unable to wipe that stupid grin off his face, he continued speaking. "Maybe, like, a dumb drinking game or something? A shot of tequila every time something happens? That type of shit?"

Asher looked around at the party. He was already getting bored. Without alcohol, parties were basically just a not-as-formal version of high school prom. The two of them needed to get shitfaced... and fast.

Stella

An almost bitter laugh escaped his lips.

"Perhaps a relaxing evening would have been a better alternative." Salem didn't even try to hide the teasing grin that formed as he watched her walk off the elevator. He followed her, knowing all too well that she knew the path to his place. All those nights where they snuck away, escaping to the safety of his home so they didn't get caught.

It had been hard hiding whatever they were from his family. Typically he was so open with them, especially his twin. He had feared her response, unsure whether she would be excited for him or upset. Stella was her best friend, after all. Even now with Scarlett knowing, Salem feared of pushing too far or doing too much. He didn't want to let their relationship to get serious, knowing that it would only end up in pain for both parties. Surely he would lose his family if things went wrong. Salem wasn't going to take that risk.

Salem ignored Stella's movement, pulling his key card out and pressing it against the sensor. He opened the door for her, holding it open so she could step inside. "You've already made yourself at home. You're little blonde strands are all over my apartment." He reached out to gently tug on her hair as if to accentuate his point. "You shed like a dog. Left your mark all over the place. Besides, you know the rule. No key until you stop seeing Cooper for good. Rules are rules."

He closed the door behind him, pausing to hear the click of it locking before moving forward. Once deeper into his apartment, Salem tossed his helmet onto a chair and peeled off his jacket, tossing it onto the same chair. His attention turned to Stella, looking her up and down.

"You shouldn't have just left the party. You should have told me. Walking alone this late on a night like tonight isn't safe. Not even for you. You're capable, sure, but you're reckless. You could have gotten hurt." As he spoke he crossed his arms, a firm look in his eyes, "I should not have to be responsible for checking in on you to make sure you're alive and safe."

Maxie

There was excitement in her eyes.

Sarah had all but given up on seeing the ducks for the day. She had been instructed to not go alone and didn't want to make her new friend upset. It was disappointing, of course, but she didn't like to upset people even if it meant that she was missing out on something or hurt because of it. She listened. She always listened to what her friends wanted.

That was the beauty of her and Max's friendship, though. He had never once asked her to do something that would hurt her. He had never asked too much from her and was always giving towards her. It was a nice change, being friends with Max, he was always kind to her. Always. Her other friends asked her to do things that she sometimes was uncomfortable with. Like the time Derrick kissed her. She didn't want to upset him. She wanted him to be happy and as far as she knew it made him happy. Maxie would never ask her to do something like that and when she told him about how she wasn't sure about it he comforted her. He was her best friend in the entire world.

"Oh! We are going to see the ducks!" Sarah excitedly grabbed her bag before dashing out the door, almost forgetting to lock the door. Well... She did forget. Maxie reminded her. She took his hand and practically skipped down the sidewalk as they head toward the pond.

A gentle giggle passed her lips as Max brought up Evangelion. She shook her head with a smile, turning her head so Max could read her lips. "No. No it's okay! I told you there is no rush. You can keep it as long as you want. I've seen it a million times. You should get joy out of it too. Plus you let me borrow your entire Batman collection for like a year."

Sarah shrugged her shoulders, looking ahead of her for a moment, making sure she didn't stumble as they walked together. Something that happened a little too often, really. Sarah was absolutely covered in bruises and scrapes from being a little too careless. "The weather is nice." She let go of Max's hand and sped up a little, spinning around and dancing on the sidewalk to the music in her mind as they walked.

The girl was prone to outbursts of energy like this. There hadn't been a single time that the pair had gone anywhere without her dancing ahead of him. She liked to enjoy life, really. She didn't care what people thought or if they stared at her. It was fun. It made her happy and that was the whole point in living, right?

"Oh!" Sarah stopped, turning toward Max so she could talk to him, "I finally watched Your Lie In April. I cried. I cried so hard. the manga made me cry too but the anime made me cry harder I think."

In the sheets, an ecchi guy
But in the streets, I be the senpai
“Wait…what?” Scotty wondered aloud as he signed each word slowly, straining his memory for the correct hand movements. He was by no means fluent, but rooming with Max, not to mention working together at Sundae Funday, Scotty had easily picked up a variety of words and phrases in ASL.

Yes, he could be a clever little bastard at times, definitely a quick learner. As he was constantly told all his life by disappointed adults, he could actually be an excellent student if he ever applied himself.

Really though, he just wanted to be able to converse with his friend. Being fairly new in town, it wasn't like Scotty had tons of those, besides Riley and his other coworkers. And despite the other boy’s awkward, nervous energy, he liked Max. The freshman was well aware he could do much, much worse as far as dormmates went.

He paused to search his mind for the right sign language to ask his roommate about New Year’s plans. Max was in too big a rush to stick around though, excusing himself to escape before Scotty could question him further. After staring at the door for a few puzzled moments, he made a beeline for the shower. It was New Years Eve and there was no time to fuck around. One of the hottest chicks he'd ever seen just invited him to the party of the century, and no way was he gonna miss it.

Maybe “invited” wasn't entirely accurate. Scotty more or less invited himself, and the hostess agreed as long as he promised to stay out of the way. Sure, it would’ve been great if Skylar was actually looking forward to his company, but the nerd had never been to a rager like this in his whole young life. He was used to the women of Paradise by now, and their complete apathy toward him…much like all the women back home in Philadelphia. It certainly wouldn't deter him from trying though.

Scotty’s brown eyes were pinging around with glee as he crept into the house unnoticed, wondering what debauchery was going on inside. Nobody paid him much mind as he slipped through the crowd, taking in all the gorgeous vixens draped on sofas and throwing back shots. Pausing for a few seconds to watch a couple of them grind on each other with wide eyes. Thank you, God, he thought with gratitude to whatever higher power had put this party on his radar in the first place.

Beyond them, he noticed a familiar head of glossy, dark hair in the mix of dancing partygoers. Without a second thought, he bounded over. Mean Jenny was very pretty and sharp as a tack, he'd never pass up a chance to annoy her.

“Hey! Jennifer!! Wow, you came here without Riley?? He's gonna be pissed,” He snickered, before immediately honing in on the cute blue-haired girl she was dancing with. Looking this new hottie over without an iota of subtlety. “Whoa. Who's your friend?” Scotty asked intently, eyes shifting between them.

“Scotty,” He nodded confidently, shooting blue girl a playful grin. “You should really dance with me instead.”

"Here we go.."

"Not that sweet? Really? Where did the sugar go then?"

Celeria just smiled and responded with a simple remark. "Well, someone I know, told me that some mystery is good"

After her words she didn't notice that she was staring as he took a bite of her dessert. It was hard to know what he was thinking at first. Her warm chocolate brown eyes were soft and glowing with hope and curiosity from the other side of the counter. When it came to her attention that she was staring a bit too long... how could she stop? How could she do that when he was looking at her?

His lips slowly sliding off the spoon, his jawline enhancing with every movement, and lastly his Adam's apple jumping slightly as he swallowed her creation.. it was like he was really a piece of art, something on display. Would she even be deserving of his time..?

The noise the spoon made going into the sink sent her back into reality. His body was inching towards her as it seemed like he came with his conclusion. She stared blankly, at first, at his words before her smiled formed on her lips.

She didn't need constant compliments or people telling her that she did a great job, but it was nice to hear when she feels like she isn't doing enough. It was better than being told to do better or that she wasn't good enough. Celeria knew that Yohan, being his very blunt self, wouldn't say it if it wasn't true which made it more special for her.

"Would want to lose...? Ah- you..I... thank you, I tried really hard" she said with a small bow to her head and soft voice.

When she picked her head back up she was greeted with a spoon in Yohans hand. Celeria couldn't help except giggle while taking it, her fingers grazing his slightly in the process. She tried not to let him realize how much he affected her through even just a little touch.

She made sure to get a good spoonful of a bite while she glanced at the man near her before taking the spoonful in her mouth. Her tongue exploded with the tart flavor as well as the sweetness of the strawberry. Her eyes got big and she even did a small dance of satisfaction. She realized she could feel some on the side of her mouth so her tongue had peeked out for a moment to clean it up after taking the spoon slowly out of her mouth.

After the tasting she was leaning against the counter, her arms resting on the cool surface while her body was arched naturally. Her face was pink with small embarrassment at the thought of him still looking at her. "I think I've outdone myself with this one" she said with some relief in her voice. Her brown eyes then looked over at the clock. 11:59 pm.

"It almost the New Year-" she started to say while looking at him. "Thank you for having me over..and dealing with me" she exclaimed with a chuckle. Her body moved toward his (which wasn't that far away thankfully) in a sultry manner and even though she was embarrassed she didn't look away from him. Her heart was pounding with every breath and she swore she was getting light headed. Her hands glided up his arms before ending up on his shoulders. She managed to go on her tippy-toes slightly to give him a gentle kiss on his cheek with her plump lips. With how close she was the smell of him filled her senses and even put a standstill in time for a moment. She didn't want to be rejected if she did end up truly kissing him so this was the next best thing in her head to at least save her from that gruesome moment. Celeria didn't want to go into the New Year with regret, but she also didn't want to go in heart broken. "Happy New Year" she said in a velvety voice against his skin before sliding his hands down his arms again and looking up at him with a slight tilt in her head.

What are you thinking?.. Actually what am I THINKING? I JUST DID THAT-SOBER. I must be out of my mind or getting sick. Yes. That explains it. It must...

He could hear his sister teasing him now. "You spent your entire night AT a party talking to a girl?" She would have a field day later about this and admittedly, she would have a point. Imagine someone spending the entire night on New Year's Eve talking to a woman about work. It was either one of two things, he really liked his job or he was into her. As much as Padric enjoyed his work, it was very obvious he was there of Isabella. Again, his sister was going to have a field day when he tells her what he spent his time doing.

He wouldn't care though, he'd do it every time. Her eyes had him lost and though he listened intently to her every word, it was almost like he didn't hear anything. The loud noise of the crowd had slowly become only muffled background noise as he looked at her. He followed her lips - joy. This was the first real conversation. First - none work related topic, though he supposed it was still work related just...more personal?

I suppose I could find the time..

Padric couldn't help but smile by her agreement. He wasn't sure she would agree so hearing answer was a blessing to him.

will be free around noon tomorrow if that works with you. I'll make sure that there is nobody using the meeting room so we may have the space to ourselves... unless you would feel more comfortable in my office, of course. I'm not overly concerned about the location.

Was this normal? To associate date with an office setting? It couldn't have been, right? Something like this might have frustrated a regular person, but Paddy was no regular man. He was patient, kind, and there was just something about Isabella that made him want to walk up to Mt. Everest and try to push it. He would literally move mountains for the woman before him. CHRICE Paddy. Dear God man. You barely know her. Why are you so enamored? Love at first sight perhaps?

"I mean more so somewhere else like a coffee shop...somewhere away from work. Just you and I....and I guess the background people lass."

Love was tricky. Outside of those who believed in reincarnation or afterlives where you can find your person again, love always ended. It is one of the most heartbreaking parts about it. We all die, so it always ends. And as much as you can convince yourself that you're happy for your partner - that their suffering ended or they're in a better place somewhere there's grief in you and with that grief comes sorrow. Your best bet was to die happily, together with your person and even then.

Annie understood this - for better or for worse - considering all of the heartbreak she went through. Losing her brother, losing her mother. It made everything worse. So she could empathize with Brittany. She could understand after losing the love of her life finding joy in your friend's love life and wanting to be there to support them. So no matter what Brittany told her, Annie would make sure she would do everything she could to cheer her best friend up. Even if it's just being normal and distracting her. Annie would make sure that she didn't think too much about it.

"
"I am not picky!
" she declared with the largest smile as they embraced. She could admit she was at peace in this moment as their bodies contacted each other. The embrace for her was more than sisterly - something she'd never admit. What good would come of that?

"
"Tuh, you know I'd never let you be alone though I can't help you with the Jake issue, because he's definitely the worst. Part of me is so glad he couldn't cover for you, y'know?
" her smiled stayed plastered on her face as she looked at Brittany,"
"And I'm blessed to have you, jeva.
"

Annie's eyes stayed on her for a while, letting them linger as she was longing before she could hear the alarm beep, "Ambo 65, truck 22. Car accident 2353 Fakeaddressington Blvd. "

She glanced over to Brittany and yawned,"
We just got here and already...that's us, let's go.

Max Berkowitz

We accept the love we think we deserve.

"Hey, next time you're watching things that make you cry, invite me," Max said out loud, his lopsided half-grin giving his words a sense of sincerity. "I'll cry with you." He'd always been of the mind that crying was like drinking: it's only a problem if you do it alone. This was an odd and somewhat hypocritical philosophy for him to hold, seeing as he always cried alone, but he didn't want to think of Sarah going through tough emotions without a friend and a box of tissues and her favorite snacks. She didn't deserve that.

Sarah may have never learned more than a few scattered words and phrases of ASL, but at least she was able to remember to turn back and face Max when she said something... most of the time. He always let her run and dance ahead of him while they walked, knowing his usual walking pace wasn't nearly befitting of her energetic whims, but occasionally he worried she'd say something and he'd completely miss it.

"Hey, we made it! See? The ducks are still awake." Max pointed downhill to the quiet little pond at the edge of the path: sure enough, the little flock of ducks were all still placidly paddling around in the still water, a few of them swimming up to the shallows as soon as they saw the pair of friends. It felt nice, thought Max, to be a local celebrity among the ducks of Paradise. If no one else appreciated the two of them, at least the ducks' love and loyalty was only conditional upon a handful of corn every weekend. "Hold out your hands..." Max gently poured Sarah a generous handful of corn for the ducks, carefully tipping the bag so it wouldn't spill everywhere... not that the ducks would mind eating it off of the ground, probably. "Told you ducks are nocturnal. Or like, maybe not totally, but they don't sleep all night like we do, right? They like... take naps throughout the day or something." Max didn't actually know what the circadian rhythms of ducks worked like. Random animal facts wasn't really his specialty, unlike that weird teenage kid who kept spamming social media with turtle truths. All Max knew about ducks was that they were supposed to eat corn, peas, sliced grapes, and birdseed and that bread wasn't good for their digestion. He'd read that online at one point, at least. Well, Max did know one other fact about ducks, but it was gross and he definitely wasn't going to tell Sarah that. It'd ruin her bonding time. Max felt it was important to be a bit careful with what he shared with his best friend... it sometimes felt as though she were so fragile that the wrong comment would confuse her into a state of disarray, and it was his job as his friend to keep her happy, not break her poor mind.

"Can you tell them apart yet? I think that one's my favorite... the one with the green on his wings. He's cool-looking."

;; Ezra
Ezra was so caught up in Oceanna's presence that he got a little distracted, and the weed only made his spaciness worse. Her comment on the rich kid party took a moment for him to register. He considered Oce his best friend, but that didn't mean he was an open book around her. He never spoke about his past, and she was no exception. All he'd told her was that he'd moved around a lot and maybe talked a little about the different places he'd been. The fun stuff—nothing about the depressing yet affluent life he'd led before he ran away. So, momentarily, he wondered what would happen if he opened up for once and talked about his past. He was one of those "uppity rich kids" at some point; would she care? "Yeah, I'd rather do absolutely nothing with you than anything with them any day," he nodded, taking a hit.

He stopped himself short of saying anything else. It was clear that this was no time to get into his life; they were already a little out of it. Besides, the thoughts subsided the second she got even closer than before. She was met with no resistance from him. His hand hadn't moved from where it rested on her leg. Really, he hadn't shifted at all, showing no obvious signs of whether he liked or disliked this new position. He didn't move away, though, which could probably be taken as a sign he didn't hate it. It took a few minutes, but as the show played, he got more comfortable, snuggling into her as well.

Honestly, Ezra spent like half the show watching Oce instead of the screen. The first time she laughed, he gazed at her, and he could barely pull his eyes away. After he got back to the show, he caught himself looking at her on multiple occasions. He blamed it on the weed and beer, they messed with his head. When she sat up, he quickly looked away, pulling back and taking the final sips of his beer. "We can't have that now, can we?" he winked in response to her alleged boredom.

He checked his phone at the same time as her; it was finally the new year. Raising his bottle towards hers, he frowned in realization. "It's empty; that would be bad luck," he pouted, turning towards Oce. He looked into her eyes for a second too long and his breath hitched for a moment. "Guess we have to come up with something else." His eyes flickered between his best friend's eyes and lips. After half a second of consideration, he leaned in, swiftly pressing his lips to hers. It was gentle, a lot sweeter than one might expect from someone as disconnected as Ezra usually was. Feeling a little lightheaded as he pulled back, he shifted and leaned back on the couch. "How's that for good luck? Think it'll work?"

OCEANNA WOLFF
Confusion contorted Oceanna's face as Ezra pointed out that his drink was empty and a cheers would be no luck, but it was almost a flash of a second when his lips were on hers. The kiss was soft, held back from what she'd imagined it would be if they'd done this before. But this was real, and it was happening, and at first she was stiff but melted into it. And she didn't want it to end. The girl almost pouted when he pulled away but she kept herself composed. He was more timid than most men she came across. He didn't talk about himself, his past, his feelings. And she was scared that if she pushed this further he would never talk to her again.

"How'd that for good luck? Think it'll work?" He asked, his demeanor more relaxed than she'd ever seen him. This was their first kiss and if she were to push him, everything might be ruined. But she wanted more, needed more. So, with a quick nod, she scooted closer to him and pressed her lips to his again. This time bringing more passion to the kiss. This was how she'd imagined it; passionate, fiery, and frantic as if they were holding back everything they'd wanted from each other but too scared to try.

But much like their friendship dynamic, this was just working, and she wanted more.

And when it was done, and they were composed, Oceanna stood in the steam of the bathroom after her shower, a smile plastered to her lips. Nerves and happiness coursed through her, which was rare for her. She wanted this for so long but didn't want to push that boundary with him, but they pushed it now, and she enjoyed it. Maybe they could be something more, she seemed to be the only person who could tolerate his attitude, but that was because she could easily match it. But here she was, standing in the bathroom after they just had sex, still somewhat high and tipsy, but feeling more energetic than ever. Would he talk about it? She had no clue. So she wouldn't talk about it unless he wanted to.

Stepping out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body, she made her way to her room to quickly change into some underwear and a very large t shirt, before going back out to the living room to sit back on the couch beside him with the TV back on. She wasn't exactly sure what to say, but she knew she wanted to be close with him. So, she quickly leaned forward to light up another joint, take a hit, and settle back into his side as if what they had done had never happened.
