Realistic or Modern Anime High

Dan looked out the window as well, admiring the bright and beautiful day they were having. He noticed the kids in the courtyard sprinting madly to reach their class, and felt a bit of pity for them. During his first year, he had been one of them, late to literally every class on his schedule, something which didn't turn out particularly well for him. He smiled faintly at the memories, before looking back to her, as she turned to address him. "That would be quite the shitty first impression," he admitted, agreeing with a grin, happy that she seemed to be responding well to his attempts of conversation. "A pleasure to meet you Lee," he said with a smile, as she reached out her hand. She put his forward as well, taking her hand in his, giving it a shake. He could see a smile growing on her face aswell, and knew that they would be friends. At that thought, his smile grew a little wider. "How are you, this beautiful morning?" he asked, an eyebrow raised inquisitively, a grin still present, gracing his features. "It sucks that the first day of school would be wasting a nice day that could've been spent elsewhere," he admitted with a sigh, seeming a little distracted by his thoughts. He didn't know what had gotten into him that morning. He just felt a little.. strange.

as Caleb was minding his own business, he turned up the volume on his headphones when one of the girls made a loud yell.

he looked back down and resting his head on his arms. the only thing that disturbed his rest was the bell, ringing loudly. he looked back up and put his music on pause and took off his headphones. The moment of brief attention when a girl walked into the classroom. as her attitude beamed with a positive glow, my face beamed with a blush. I immediately put my head back in my arms. "what is up with this school and beautiful girls?" i said in a nervous mumble. my breaths were starting to get shallow, 'I need to get out of this place when class is done' I thought to myself.

(heading to bed, see y'all in the morning)

Lee chuckled at what Dan had said. He had an interesting personality, she had to admit. "It would, and nobody wants to make a bad impression on the first day of class." she replied, knowing the adopted hierarchy system in every classes. Nonetheless, she wouldn't really have cared if she made a bad impression because of tardiness. People were free to think what they wish of her, as long as her image of herself did not change as well.

Dan then proceeded to talking about the day and she agreed it was beautiful, simply because she was in a very good mood the moment she woke up. Actually, she was like that every first day of class. It wasn't because school was coming back. It was a different matter, something concerning her social life. It was completely different from her previous school, and she had a culture shock here when she transferred, but she learned to enjoy it here.
"I beg to disagree," she said, keeping the smile on her face as not to seem too mean about her not meeting his opinion. She then proceeded to stating her own opinions. "The first day's a chance to meet new people, and see your friends again. So I don't think it's not that bad." Or... she was just optimistic, but she really did like the first day. She scanned around the room, familiarizing herself with the faces of her new classmates and waving at people who happen to meet her eyes.

"So, are you not that enthusiastic about this new school year?" she asked. Of course, she still wouldn't say that classes were better than summer.

He smiled, listening to her words. He liked how she thought, and knew that thy would e pretty good friends. He found her optimism about the first day quite interesting, and the way she put it made him reconsider his own opinion just a little. "I like the way you think, Lee," he said with a smile, although he did not agree. He rarely made friends on the first day. He mostly spent the first day doodling and trying to get to know the general atmosphere of his class. He always tried to know whether or not a class would accept his humor. But, Lee seemed like just his type of person, so he simply wanted to be friendly. After all, losing the first friend he made wasn't something he exactly wanted to do. "Me?" He asked, gesturing to himself. "I just don't like the first day of school because it's the end of summer," he explained with a shrug.

"Hmm... I like your personality," she said, feeling obligated to return the compliment. She understood the disappointment of having summer end, but she really just saw the silver lining of this. Pushing aside the school talk, she thought of a different topic, something that would help them get to know each other. Her eyes adverted to the headphones around his neck. "I'm guessing you like music?" she asked, pointing to his headphones. "Do you mind if I listen to one of your songs?" She wondered if she as being too friendly, but well she got into the mood.

The homeroom teacher sure was taking a while; any students who would come in now would be quite lucky. She was looking forward to the end of classes, hoping to get to the club room as soon as possible. As the president of the boxing club
(Lol, is that alright?), she had the obligation to be there early, especially for the possible new members who might join.

He smiled, "Well thank you!" He said happily. "I quite like yours aswell," he said, thoughts drifting to his summer. He had spent it with his father, and he had spent a lot of time at the beach, painting. Most often, he drew the sunrise and sunset, trying to perfectly match the vibrant and beautiful colors of the sky, but he felt that he never seemed to have the right colors. Eventually, he gave up and resorted to painting the seashells he could find in the sand, something he found to enjoy a significant amount more. "I do like music, but I can't sing or play any instruments. Art is more my thing," he admitted with a shrug, before smiling and handing over his headphones. "How about you though? Do you have anything you like to do?" He asked as handed them to her, he waited as she put them on, allowing him some time to look around the classroom. The teacher seemed to have not shown up yet, allowing a few late students a lucky break. "Say, where's the homeroom teacher?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. He continued to sit there, as the music began to play, Rodrigo y Gabriela's 'Tamacun'. His thoughts began to wander, and he had thought of a few clubs he had heard of, a few he wanted to try. There were a few art clubs, although they seemed to be rather small, and not doing anything particularly interesting.

Lee cleared her throat, hearing yet again another compliment. She wasn't one to take comments easily, and so she decided to just leave it hanging, but she did playfully punch his arm. He willingly gave her his headphones whilst confirming how he did like music. "Well, I like music, but probably not to the same extent as you." she replied as she adjusted the height of the headphones. "As for me, I like martial arts, mainly boxing!" she said quite enthusiastically. It wasn't rare for girls to do martial arts, right? Besides, she wasn't ashamed of it. She was never a girly girl anyway.

She put the headphones on and waited for him to play the music. Moments later, music filled her ears. It started with a beat, followed by a nice rhythm of a string instrument, and the beat continued to increase as the song went on. It was nice to listen to, but not something she would play while training. She shrugged at his question about the teacher. She wasn't even sure who would was assigned to their class. She removed the headphone, thanking him for letting her use it. She just nodded in approval to his song.

Dan smiled, although he winced as she punched him, rubbing his arm slightly. "Well, you certainly punch like a boxer!" he chuckled. "Is Martial Arts fun?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "I mean, I used to have a friend who was pretty into... uh.. karate I think.." he said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, hoping he didn't sound too dumb in front of the martial artist. "It seems that you enjoy doing it though, so that's good," he said, nodding. He looked back over at her as she took off the headphones, the song apparently over. He took them back, wrapping them around his neck once more. He looked around the classroom, trying to see exactly what all of their classmates were doing.

"It sure is!" she exclaimed, holding one arm as she stretched the other. "Of course, boxing is the best, but I do a few other styles too, like TaeKwonDo, Judo... I think Karate's nice but I've never really tried it. And... oh!" She quickly shut her mouth and placed fingers on her lips, realizing that she was talking too much and that she wasn't in her previous school anymore. She wondering if it was weird to be the one interested in martial arts instead of the boy she was talking to. She blushed slightly but it only lasted for a while, not quite enough to be easily spotted. She ran a hand through her hair as she leaned back on her chair, placing her hands in her pockets after. She noticed him look around, interesting himself in the people around them

"Say, want to invite anyone into this conversation?" she asked him, wondering if he might know anyone from the class. She did know someone, although she had only talked to her a few times last year, making it hard to actually approach her at the moment, especially since it seemed the woman had her own set f friends here. She looked around for anyone in the room and her eyes set on someone being a little too much of an introvert. She looked back at Dan. Or course, since he started this conversation, she felt he had the say if anyone were to join them.

John yawned and stretched as he woke up. It was a darn good thing that he had mastered the art of the power nap, otherwise the rest of the day would have been spent passed out on various desk. Quickly adjusting his glasses, he looked around. However, theclass had not actually started yet, for some reason. Perhaps the home room teacher was late?

Seeing as he knew no one in the class, or in the country for that matter, he decided that it might be for the best that he should try and strike up a conversation with someone. Unfortunately for him, most people seemed to be keeping to themselves. Perhaps the Japanese were a bit more introverted than he had originally thought.

Dan smiled, watching her talk about all the different kinds of Martial arts she was into. However, he raised an eyebrow when she suddenly shut up, placing a finger over her lips, and he swore he almost saw a hint of pink on her cheeks. "Is something... wrong?" he inquired, wondering why she had suddenly stopped talking, when she seemed to be enjoying explaining the things she was interested in. "You didn't have to stop talking. Are you.. embarrassed that you're into martial arts? Or is there something on my face?" he asked with a grin, making a rather silly facial expression, sticking out his tongue and crossing his eyes, before he chuckled at his own foolishness. He noticed her run a hand through her pink hair, before she leaned back on her chair, moving her hands down to her pockets. He was completely and utterly confused by her behavior. "Well, not really. I don't know anyone here, I took completely different classes last year," he explained, shrugging. "If there is someone you'd like to talk to though, I'm not stopping you," he said with a shrug and a soft smile.

Tadae raised a brow at the conversation she could hear taking place. She didn't know exactly how to respond to it happening and so she looked to the windows, pretending no one there existed. She was not looking forward to talking to any single one of these individuals. She felt they would only tease her for her love of fairy tales. She looked down at her book and ran a finger down the spine of the book. She sighed and finally put it back in her bag. What was there to do? It seemed that the teacher would be late for the day, but sooner or later the teacher would come. She stared at her blank desk, thinking of what to do or what she would learn.

As Caleb was looking down, he noticed a shadow. Not in the huddled mass of people talking, but alone. 'maybe I'm not the only semi extrovert here' he thought to himself. He slowly lifted his head slightly and shifted his head so he might catch a glimpse of this person that dared to be different. he saw a girl with dark hair, holding a book and daydreaming out the window. Caleb knew the look of daydreaming all too well, as he has done it too often in the past. But something is different about her, a separation between me sitting in back, and her.

Caleb sat in back cause no one will mess with him in the corner, and it's closest to the doors so i can leave immediately.

She sat in the seat closest to the window and was comfortable there.

Caleb then had a spark of inspiration and slipped out his notebook and pencil and started drawing. He was no artist, but he felt like he should draw what he saw in his head. The pencil swirled around the paper to make a ruff sketch of the girl. He then started to draw wings on her back, but profusely erased it and started over on them.

Before anything else could happen, a man, probably around his early 30's or late 20's rushed into the room panting like crazy. He scanned the room and gave out a small cough into his hands as he walked onto his mini desk stage, putting his materials down. "Hello, there." He started off, looking around the room once again, "My name is Ami Yaya," Kyoko slightly snorted into her fist at the mention of his name, it sounded like a girl's. She received a hard glare, there goes the teacher's pet spot.

"Now, I would like everyone to introduce themselves." He looked through his roll book, "Let's start with..." He looked at Kyoko and she tensed. "You," The female gulped and stood up from her chair, getting ready to introduce herself.

"Alright then, My name's Nakamura Kyoko, call me Kyo, I'm 16 years old, birthday Dec 31st, my hobbies are drawing, listening to music, playing music, and sleeping. Math and Science are my best subjects." The girl sat down, smirking at the teacher who seemed irked at how smug she was being.

"Alright then, who wants to go next?"

John stood up ramrod straight while saluting. "Nice to meet you sir. My name is John Whithers. Age 17. Born on the third of August. My hobbies and training are in martial arts, hunting, camping, hiking, and survival. The subjects that I excel at are History and English sir!"

And with that he finished his salute, sat back down in his seat, and readjusted his glasses. The darn things kept on getting in the way. Looking around, he realized that perhaps his instilled military opening might have been seen as a little bizarre. Though, it really didn't matter to him.

Tadae blinked as the military kid introduced himself. She had never seen anything quite like it. She shook her head and watched the front of the class, not at all interested in what she knew would happen. She felt herself sink into the back of her seat and wait.

The teacher chuckled at John's introduction, making Kyoko grumble, 'Rude,' she thought in her mind. "Okay then, who's next? He spoke out looking at the girl in the back, who seemed to push herself away from everyone else. Why can't teachers be mean to their students for once and pick on them?

"How about you, in the back." He pointed to Taede.

Kyoko gave her a small thumbs up, trying to boost her courage a bit.

Kiname relaxed in his seat as his eyes opened and he sat up"...I need some food..." he chuckled lightly and smiled warmly, he was rather mellow right now and was happy to be

Caleb saw the role call happening down the line, he has been through this before and never liked it. 'the sooner i do it. The sooner it's over' he thought.

He put the sketch book in his bag and stood up while half heartedly looked down and nervously mumbled, "H-hi, I'm Caleb, I'm 17." he then immediately sat back down.

Tadae's eyes widened and she shrank even more into her chair. She stared at her desk, no doubt blushing from embarrassment and gulped. Oh no, how was she going to get through this? Without a second thought, she stood and stared at a spot behind the teacher, pretending he wasn't there. That was the only way she would get through this.

"My name is Tadae. Tadae Sato. I'm fifteen and...um..I love fairy tales," she said softly before sitting in her seat hurriedly and blushing out of embarrassment.

The teacher smiled, Taede, and Caleb, he tried to remember their faces, seemed to be the shyest ones in the small classroom. "Thank you for your polite introductions." He mused, "Who would like to go next?"

he saw the girl with the girl with the dark hair stand up and say her name. 'tadae... fairy tails' he smirked at the subject of fairy tails as she sat.

Tadae stared at her desk and sighed. She felt like she had failed miserably at doing the introduction. She had no interest in paying attention, but knew that she must. She looked to the front of the room and waited quietly.

Kiname stood and relaxed, with a blasé look on his face "the names Kiname, I love music and manga...thank you" he sat back down and crossed his arms as if he was cold

Fairy tales? That sure was a, uhm.... Non standard answer? Honestly he couldn't fault her for enjoying such things, afterall, everyone needs a good story with a knight slaying the evil dragon to save the princess. Or like the version he often read, the Allies defeating the Nazi's to save Europe! Perhaps he did need more non-military interaction.....

Looking back over at the apparantly very shy girl, he gave her a thumbs up. It wouldn't do to have someone think they had embarressed themselves. He needed to help boost her ego in order to form a more cohesive unit. John shook his head. No, not unit, class! He really was a military brat wasn't he?
