An Alternate Universe: Naruto

In an alternate universe, a parallel Konohagakure stands tall, but the familiar faces of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura are replaced by new, original characters. The Hidden Leaf Village remains a bustling hub of shinobi activity, with a Hokage at its helm; while a fresh narrative unfolds against the backdrop of iconic landmarks and landscapes.

The ninja academies teem with aspiring students, each with their own unique talents and dreams. The absence of canon characters allows for a different set of rivalries, alliances, and friendships to develop among the next generation of ninja. The Chunin Exams become a stage where these budding shinobi will showcase their skills.

While the Akatsuki may not be the looming threat, the absence of the original characters opens the door for unforeseen heroes and villains to rise, with their backstories and motivations shaping the destiny of this alternate Naruto world.

The story begins in the village of Konohagakure, within the sacred halls of the ninja academy. A fresh cohort of students, on the edge of graduation, prepare to step into the shinobi world. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting the village in a warm twilight glow, these young students find themselves at the crossroads of destiny. Unbeknownst to them, this story holds unforeseen challenges and opportunities. The looming prospect of life beyond the academy gates beckons them - a tale where alliances will be tested, friendships forged, and the legacy of a new generation of ninja is written.

Lin Way is notorious within the Hidden Leaf Village for his troublesome and confrontational demeanor. A born troublemaker, he thrives on the chaos he instigates, finding pleasure in the discomfort of others. Quick-witted and sly, Lin is a master of manipulation, using his charm and mimicry skills to deceive those around him. While he may be perceived as callous and cold-hearted, there's a cunning intelligence that underlies his actions.

B A C K S T O R Y
Born into a family known for its exceptional sound-based techniques, Lin's talents are undeniable, but his misuse of them has estranged him from the very clan that prides itself on honor and integrity. As he navigates the complexities of being a shinobi, Lin's path is shrouded in contradiction, leaving those around him to wonder whether his behavior stems from a deep-seated insecurity or a darker, hidden agenda within the shadows of his prestigious lineage.

A B I L I T I E S
Lin Way is developing the fascinating art of mimicry. He has the ability to replicate any voice or sound he hears allowing him to deceive and confuse both allies and enemies alike. This talent will eventually make him a formidable opponent in espionage and reconnaissance missions, but for now, he’s merely a skilled prankster. Lin often uses his abilities to bully and intimidate others, making him a divisive figure among his peers.

Lin wields a seemingly ordinary cone as his weapon of choice, a small yet potent tool in his arsenal capable of amplifying sound waves despite his occasional missteps. Mimicking the stealthy rustle of leaves might inadvertently turn into a symphony of confusion as he experiments with his unique instrument.

Lin’s mimicry extends to the transformation of kunai into small, harmless canaries, although, more often than not, the canaries might not look as graceful as he intends. By attaching thin strings to the canaries, he can transport sound across farther distances. This allows him to eavesdrop on conversations from afar or relay messages without being detected, however, the strings have a tendency to get tangled. Nevertheless, Lin persists, learning from each mishap.

Yukiharu Fujiwara

P E R S O N A L I T Y
As a boy he was known as someone who was bright and cheerful despite always being in and out of the hospital. It was around the time his parents disappeared that his personality took a complete 180. Suddenly he became someone apathetic to almost everything and when something did pique his interest he would poke and probe at the subject until he grew bored once more. Somewhat similar to a child who only wants to play hide and seek but will suddenly leave you high and dry in the middle of the seventh round. Despite his apathetic nature, when he’s still a child and preteen, when he snaps it resembles a wet cat that’s pissed to hell. Cute to some, annoying to others, and for those afraid of cats down-right terrifying.

B A C K S T O R Y
When he was around 9 his parents went out one day, saying they were going grocery shopping. They left him with some money, more than what was necessary for a one night dinner alone if they came back late, and left. They never came back. The next morning it wasn’t his parents to greet him, but an elderly neighbor, who had become like a grandmother to him. The village elders remained tight-lipped about the details, leaving Yukiharu with unanswered questions and a desire to reveal the truth. Never knowing if his parents truly abandoned him or not, his personality began to shift to his current behavior. Is often sick, bruises like a peach, and is weak as a newborn fawn. Despite his many shortcomings, he’s very tenacious and while channeling his grief and desire to find out what truly happened to his parents, he began a rigorous training regimen, and is often heard in the woods training into the night.. At a tender age, he faced the heart-wrenching disappearance of both his parents under mysterious circumstances.

A B I L I T I E S
Having endured numerous injuries and undergone countless medical treatments, Yukiharu is developing an understanding of the anatomy and vulnerabilities inherent in the human body. He learned to not only manage his own health but also develop an extraordinary skill – the ability to perceive weak points in others.



He’s skilled at target practice and almost never misses his mark.

When he’s graduated, and more equipped at being a shinobi outside of the academy, he’ll learn to harness his chakra into fighting techniques that will have the strength to deal more damage.

Aw both your characters look wonderful! I’m thinking of making a character who is skilled with bone jutsu (like Kimimaro from the original series, though of course not from the same clan). Not sure on many other details, though, I’m still figuring it out.​

Meyumi 'Mei' Kusaritsuki

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Meyumi is a dutiful young girl who has difficulty breaking from her practice, studying, and chores schedule. Just as much as she works hard, she also respects it in others to a high degree. She is determined to accomplish her goals and will not hesitate to remove an obstacle in her path, even if said obstacle is a person. Meyumi doesn't take bullcrap from anyone and when she has something to say she will say it without fear of the repercussions, although this could be seen as a positive but others have viewed it as rude or dismissive. The girl may be straightforward however she does have a kind heart, willing to sacrifice herself for the things she thinks are right!

B A C K S T O R Y
The Kusaritsuki clan's history dates back to the Land of Water, but at some point, they moved to Konoha becoming an important group within the political and shinobi world. Meyumi was raised with the expectation of passing, not excelling just passing. However, she rejected these ideas immediately. Meyumi wanted to be the best. Her great-uncle, Dodera, noticed this and took her under his wing. He was disgruntled with some of the members of the clan who had lost sight of their goals and ambitions, but here was a young upstart who wanted to excel. Dodera was strict with Meyumi's training and lessons. The young girl appreciated her great-uncle and took to the lessons without a second thought. Through him, Meyumi was able to quench her thirst for knowledge.

A B I L I T I E S
Chakra Natures: Water, Wind, Earth
Meyumi's clan has a natural affinity for water release. Meyumi, herself, is naturally gifted at water & wind release, so much so that she unlocked a kekkei genkai of ice release. Through hard work, she was able to also learn earth release, but it is unrefined. When using Ice release Meyumi usually creates ice constructs on the Criss & Cross.

Criss & Cross - A pair of metal sticks for combat and ninjutsu. They can interlock at the ends to create a staff.
