Among the Stars

Soviet Panda

Red Panda Commanda.
Roleplay Type(s)
Connor was flapping around in his nest. What else was he to do? He wasn't one of the privileged to go to space. The human's have just visited a few months ago, and they have imparted some of their technology. What was most important to Avians, however, was that it allowed them to go higher then ever. To space, to be exact. Their bird based designs had a high rate of surviving re-entry and were stable on the way into orbit. Their fuel, however, was deprived of a different sort. Instead of the liquid fuel, they used the heat generated by a strange crystalline substance, rare even on their planet. Their engines, and therefore thrust, focused the heat to propel them around, and it was a good heater as well. Anyway, back to Connor. As I've said, he was in his nest, flapping about, when he saw a something streak across the sky, obviously something entering the dense atmosphere of their planet.

To say she was taken aback by the planet upon entry into the atmosphere would be an understatement. Dany had assumed that the Avian race would live up to their name, but the planet was so unlike anything she had ever seen before. It had been a rocky entry, the atmosphere much more dense than she had anticipated but perhaps that was the allure of adventure. Even the most obvious ideas and actions have a strange way of surprising you sometimes. When her men landed the ship, she instructed them to remain within the epicenter of the planet as she explored.

The strange looks she received were expected, of course, having never seen an Avian herself she returned the interested gazes at some of the people. Their plumage vibrant and beautiful in the way it sculpted the contours of their bodies. To think there were so many more planets like this for her to explore than she could ever imagine.

The Avian planet was a strange one. It was techinqually classified as a desert planet. But the strange feature was that it periodically had giant trees, so large that their canopies blocked out the sun and they could easily he seem from space. Conno, on the other hand, was slightly less special. Once the humans had visited, they knew that more alien races would eventually come. So, they elected an Alien Relationships chair member, abd Connor was the secretary. So, he flapped about his nest and grabbed the quills and dried leaves that they used they used for pen and paper. So, gliding dowm from his nest with everything tucked safely away, he arrived next to the Chair man's office. Soon after his arrival, the Chairman walked out. Or Chair woman, as it were. An abstractly beautiful specimen of the species with green plumage. And soon enough, they met the red haired alien.

Dany was unsure on the new planet, though intrigued by the beauty of it. It's desert-like terrain reminded her a bit of home, but the fauna was something she had not expected. The trees were beautiful, though, grabbing her attention almost immediately as she made her way to the Chairwoman's office to formally introduce herself as a guest. When she arrived, she saw what appeared to be a beautiful woman with green plumage standing in front of a man whose face she could not quite make out from a distance. When she approached, however, she gave the both a courteous and slight bow (a sign of respect in most all planets across the galaxy, a safe bet).

"It is a pleasure to meet you, chairwoman," Dany said graciously, "I am D'Nanyaru of the planet Andala. On behalf of the royal family and my people, I am here to extend our deepest sincerity and thanks for your hospitality."

Returning the bow, the Chairwoman said "Kindness is met by kindness. Welcome to our home. What you need, we shall offer. But" and here she went into a more political tone of voice, "You will be followed by guards to make sure you follow the laws and behave. If you have any questions, my secretary Connor will be accompanying you, so feel free to ask questions."

Connor was pleased with the turn of events for him. Here was an alien, and he got to learn about them, kind of sort of. As well, he may be able to see how their space shuttels work. Why not go on it why he was their? Then have it launch with him on it?

"I would not expect any less, though I can assure you my men and I will be on our best behavior while we are guests in your lovely home," her voice carried an air of strength and political prowess as she spoke, but gentle at the same time as she turned to Connor, "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Connor. I appreciate your willingness to show a foreigner around as it can be an exhausting and tedious task."

"But your planet is so beautiful, how could I not be intrigued to know more about everything?" she flashed him a brilliant smile, "And perhaps, maybe I can even show you a few things."

Giving the alien woman a final nod, the Chairwoman left them to wander about as they pleased. Turning to the alien, Connor bowed politely and said. "What would you like to know about our home?"

As the chairwoman took her leave, Dany visibly relaxed a bit. There was still a strength to her presence but far less intimidating. "Well," she smiled, "I would like to know your favorite part of living here. You can tell a lot about a planet by the preference of its inhabitants."

"Well then, where should I begin." Connor said as he moved his papers about, organizing his thiughts as he organized the papers. "First thing about this planet you should mniw is that it is, as human's would put it, matriarichal. That is, most positions of power are held by the female half of our race. But, you asked what my preferences are, so I should get back on topic." There was no topic, specifically. He just had to clear up how their government worked. "One of the things that is gaining populariity is jumping from the Tree and trying to land and ride on one of the ground beasts. I find these people to be idiots and suicidal, so I do not like to do it myself. But our culture allows us to do many things that we find enjoyable. I personally like having a good bite of the local fruits that grow on the Tree. Most are poisonous and used to make yards and gardens just look better. Others still taste like bark. But the rare few are the best tou will ever have, i garuntee it."

Dany listened intently as he spoke of his home planet, "My home is also matriarchal," she added as a side note, hoping to build some common ground with the man. While he continued on about jumping from trees and riding beasts, she found herself smiling at the stories, nearly wanting to try the jump out for herself though she had no feathers to help her in the air. She was less than airborne. "Local fruits? I do particularly love food of any kind, though the threat of coming across a poisonous one does put me off to the idea a bit," she joked with a smile, "Your planet seems like it is a lovely place to live. Simple but beautiful."

"Simplicity in nature is perhaps the most beautiful thing to our kind in general. Of course, that does not apply to our plumage, as you can see." he said, gesturing about to show his point. "But things made by sentient beings is a completely different matter. Why, I once saw a delicate sphere of spun glass, worked intricately mind you, sell for nearly the entire price of a higher class nest." Connor commented as he began to walk towards an unknown destination. "And the even odder part of our culture, as we've seen by the reactions of other species, is that we don't exactly have farms. Why should we? The Tree provides everything we need, and the harsh desert gives us what the Tree cannot give. It's a very simple thought, some religions of our race has been based on that idea. Of course, each Tree has a slightly different form of that religion." At that point, he was thoroughly rambling. He went on about how his kind looked to the clear blue skies and wished for someday to fly with their own power. How the humans first arrived on their planet. Eventually, his ramblings trailed off at the realization of what he was doing. "My apologies if I bore you. The history of our people is rather interesting, if you ask me, and I tend to get caught up in it."

"You could never bore me with history. Stories are the universe's oldest way of reminding us that we are simply dust in the grand scheme of the universe but we have the ability, through those stories, to make ourselves seem so big. Ever since I was a girl I loved studying other cultures, other planets, learning everything I could about the unique and beautiful ways they went about their lives. For instance, simply at a glance I can tell you that we do not have nearly as much fauna on my planet and my people thrive of fire -- our entire livelihood is based on it. It is always so humbling to see how others conduct their lives as a reminder there is no one way to live," Dany explained as she followed him, "I take it from your tone that you've never been on a ship before? I could arrange that, easily, if you'd like to see your own home the way the stars do."

Blinking at how her race was centered around fire, 'Why base a culture off of something that could easily destroy as much as help?', he listened to what she had to say. It was all rather humbling to be reminded that they were there by some small odds. But what she said about seeing his planet from the star's point of view. "I would love to if I could. Space travel is strictly regulated. Only the most trained and the smartest are even considered. I am only the secretary to the Chairwoman of Alien Relations." Reaching their destination, a fruit stand with drab grey and brown colored fruits, he exchanges brief squawking, hooting, chirping, and other various bird noises. It was rather interesting to hear really, the hooting and what not blended nearly seamlessly together to form a kind of song. But, eventually the song ended and the shopkeeper handed two light grey almost white fruits, who in return received several pressed metal pieces that could safely be assumed as the currency. "But, a recommendation to bring me up from another life form may sway the Council around. The odds would just be greater if a female recommended me."

(Sorry these are kind of long. I'm enjoying making up everything.)
