THE FIRST DAY- NIGHT RAID MISSION BUST!!

Akame.ga.Kill%21.600.1939727.jpg
The bell tolls as the clock strikes midnight in the Palace City of the Capital. Night Raid, led on by false information leaked by the Empire has been lured into and caught within a trap. What was supposed to be another assassination mission to take out one of the key players in the underworld trade deals between the Empire and outside nations turned out to be a setup for Nightraid all along.

The Empire has sent the guard and Jaegers, and the members of Night Raid who decided to tag along for this mission are being given no choice but to either retreat to fight another night or stand and die for the cause.

This is where all of you come in, what side are you on? Are you among the guards sent by the Empire or one of the Jaegers? Are you one of the Night Raid assassins chosen to carry out this mission? Or are you simply an unlucky bystander who picked the wrong time and place to be?

The Night Raid mission has gone awry as they find themselves cornered at the would-be residence of their target. Only to find the entire property empty, and suddenly Empire forces would appear and attack from all sides. There have already been some casualties on both sides, and Night Raid is currently paving a path for their escape out of Palace City.

(Everyone is now free to post! As of writing this there are still some people working on their characters so starting pace may be slow, hope everyone is okie dorey with that!)

"The Unscratched Demon General" Lemille Lemillied
1729240702448.png

Lemille didn’t know what he had done to deserve being here. Apparently agents of the most lethal and brutal assassin organization were being trapped here, and the prime minister ordered HIM to be here for it the second he returned from his last mission. So he did his best to LOOK like he was going there, but intentionally get lost on the way to the ambush, since supposedly it was already underway by the time he got back to the capital. Which led to where he was now, wandering through an alleyway, trying to keep out of sight. Though, unluckily for him, he was stumbling right towards the ambush as it was happening.

He tried to peek in to make sure that noise of battle was just some kind of street brawl, deeply hoping it was, but as he did, a cat fell down from the roof of the building he was next to, landing square on his back. It began to scamper around, yowling as it crawled all over him, making him stumble around in the alleyway trying to get it off, starting to grumble at it.

"Grk, not right now you damn...!" He stuttered around, before finally getting a hold of it and managing to toss it off himself, but the force of the little scuffle made him stumble out in the sight of everyone, throwing his foot out to catch himself.

However, to those in the courtyard in the ambush and battle, it wouldn't appear as such a coincidental or comical situation.

His blade and armor flared up with his "Behemoth Aura", as he turned his head slowly, internally quaking in his boots as he locked eyes with those of Night Raid. But to those outward, it seemed like his slow head turn was full of purpose, his aura flaring as he stepped fully out of the alleyway. He tried to find his voice, walking out into the street slowly as his aura seemed to slow the battlefield around him, the nameless guards beginning to rally around him.

The soldiers near him backed up, making way for him. He placed his foot behind himself, his mind racing. "...I... I need to....Run away..." He said slowly, though thanks to his helmet, all those around him heard was him telling them to run away, as the guards closest to him visibly had their morale shoot up. "We respect you valuing our safety, but we won't leave you behind sir! We've got them right where we want them! There's no way they can win with you here!"

Lemille felt his heart sink at their words, realizing there was no way he could run away with all those guards around here to watch him. He could feel his stomach twist from the stress, as he put his hands to his sides to ease the pain, though to those looking at him externally it would look like he confidently crossed his arms. He stared at those of night raid, hoping that his reputation would be enough to make them leave, since he was terrified of the thought of being forced to fight these people.

Balthazar "Grave-Eater" Strauss
----
Oh, what a night it was shaping up to be! Balthazar could hardly contain his jubilation at the fact he would get the excuse to spend a night out with his beloved Teigu Maria. He loved taking her out into the moonlight so they could dance. However, this night was different, even more special since today was the day Balthazar finally got to show off his beautiful Maria to other members of the Empire's illustrious military. He had been sitting on the bench for what felt like years and couldn't be happier to be out of his humble little hovel. Of course, in reality, it had only really been a few days...Nonetheless, Balthazar was among the eager volunteers to intercept Night Raid.

From the rooftops, Balthazar awaited with the others. Cradling the coffin where he kept his Teigu Maria close, stroking it softly with the tip of his index finger as he whispered all manner of disturbing things to her. He was always like this, talking sweet to Maria and caring for her in ways normally only a lover would do; many of his peers found this fact about Balthazar deeply disturbing. He lay in wait like this until finally, the members of Night Raid appeared.

Opening the lid to Maria's casket, Balthazar would unleash his betrothed upon the first assassin to lay eyes on him. Maria was responsible for killing at least two Night Raid assassins before being forced to give chase, while Balthazar continued to traverse the rooftops Maria scoured the bottom streets for any survivors and attacked anyone or anything she found on sight.

----

(Open to interaction, you can either have someone confront Balthazar up on the rooftops or have them run into Maria down in the streets.)

Axel "Karma" Grimes
----
"What the actual fuck..." exclaimed an irate Karma as the situation unfolding seemed just to get worse and worse.

What was meant to be a rather straightforward assassination mission turned out to be a trap, and Karma had walked himself and his allies right into it. They were down a few members already, and would now find themselves trapped inside a courtyard facing imperial guards from all sides. If Karma thought things couldn't get any worse, he'd soon be proven wrong by the sudden appearance of the FREAKING DEMON GENERAL. Karma had to wonder, did he do something to cause this? Was this all part of the karmic cycle he believed so deeply in? Or was it something else? Was there a traitor amongst them? That question weighed heavy on his mind, but not nearly as heavy as the presence of the Demon General who now stood before them.

"Run away...." uttered the Demon General, and Karma's heart sunk to the bottom of his chest.

The Unscratched Demon General didn't have to say it twice. Karma had no intention on facing down the Demon General tonight, and as far as he was concerned their main priority as of now was escaping Palace City and retreating to headquarters so that they could fight another day. He took account of the forces confronting them and eyed down where their defenses were weakest so that he and the others could carve out their escape route.

"Fuck this, alright people we are hauling ass! Get your butts into gear and move, move move!" Karma started shouting out commands to the other night raid members accompanying him before levelling the barrel of his Teigu where the Empires defenses looked weakest, "FUCK YOU GUYS!" he roared with hatred as he fired a destructive beam from his Teigu and blew a hole into their defenses in an attempt to clear a route for their escape.

The Faceless Hunter (Razu Venori)
1729407332060.png

This entire ambush wasn't really something Razu wanted to take part in, though his best friend insisted he took part of it, though in a certain way that differs from everyone elses objectives. His object was to follow any escaping night raid members that manage to escape the city hopefully back to whatever base they set up, though if that was seen as something unviable he was to simply kill as many rebels as possible. He had a few of his Captains purposely create a weak point within their line up, which he was sure would lure the rebels into taking it, once they get far enough from the main forces he would tail them from the shadows.

His mask was on and his boots were fully charged so he should be able to easily keep up with any escaping forces and would maybe be able to pick off any stragglers if he could do it quickly and quietly. Though he had to try to keep to his main goal at the very least, if they played their cards right they could deal a major blow to the Rebel forces and hopefully derail anyone from even wanting to join them in the future. Honestly he would of prefer to have just stuck to delivering vital orders than having to do this entire thing himself, but he supposed when a lot of trust is placed into you, it would be best to deliver some type of results.

Heaving a sigh Razu waited patiently, hidden from plain view but in a area where he would be able to see or hear any sort of approaching targets that he could possibly identify and tail.

"The Unscratched Demon General" Lemille Lemillied
1729240702448.png
Lemille watched as Night Raid noticed his presence as well, with most of them more than content to run away, much to his relief. Especially when he saw the one with a gun turn and annihilate a line of soldiers, with one particular soldier vanishing in a red mist, with a single finger falling to the ground, Lemille's body shuddering as his face contorted beneath his mask, feeling like he was about to feint. What would have happened to him if that was aimed at him instead?? As near as he could tell, all that would be left was... "...A single finger..." He realized out loud.

The soldiers near him saw his shuddering shoulders and heard his voice, once again reading between the lines. They didn't react aloud this time, as they came to the silent "realization" that their Immortal General Lemille had seen all he needed to to gauge the strength of the enemy, and that he could tell that he could kill them all with only a single finger. They wondered what kind of beast they had been placed under the command of.

However, there was one assassin who seemed to overcome that fear that caused the others to run, a woman with a long blue ponytail. She called to Axel, a determined look breaking through the fear in her face.
"Get the others out! I'll hold him off!" She shouted back, bringing her Teigu in front of herself, a pair of blue and red chakrams that spewed flame and ice. She ran towards the Demon General, prepared to sacrifice herself as she activated her Teigu's trump card. She ran towards Lemille, her eyes narrowed in determination as she leapt above the guards that tried to get in her way, knowing that the rest of Night Raid could easily handle a few nameless nobodies like them.

This is what she had been building up to with all her training, to save her team from a monster of the empire, and what better than the "Bloodless Behemoth" himself. Her Teigu was that of the Equinox Assassin: Tevalie, and it's Trump Card was to increase her own strength to turn the battle when she was specifically fighting a worthy opponent.

Lemille internally was panicking, seeing this very capable fighter flying towards him, a coward and a weakling, charging up what he presumed was her ultimate ability. He felt the fear welling up more and more in his chest, tears welling underneath his mask as he tried to do whatever he could to protect himself, as he began to scream in fear, as he usually did. He desperately reached for his sword, the accursed thing still refusing to leave it's sheath, his body struggling and shaking in the struggle to pull it out of it's sheath.

As for those outside of his perspective...

As the young woman of Night Raid leapt towards the
"Eternal Blood Beast", he placed his foot forward, and let out the one sound dreaded anywhere that had heard of the man. The black and red aura exploded out from beneath his feet, The Behemoth's Rumble echoing out from his body, that berserker scream heard so many times before. His body trembling with power as he gripped the hilt of his blade, his red eyes staring coldly at the noble sacrifice the woman was making. As she descended towards him, entering his aura and activating her Trump Card... she was incinerated. The flames that spewed from her Imperial Arms consumed her own form, causing her to fall to the ground in a burning eruption of flame.

The guards closest to Lemille all paused at the scene, the shock of such an event causing some pause. Until they slowly put together what happened.

"W-Wait... she's wielding Tevalie... doesn't that thing's trump card make you stronger according to your opponent... That means..." The guard closest to the body realized, putting his hand on his head in shock. "H-Her body couldn't handle the power it tried to copy from him...."

Unbeknownst to anyone, the woman suffered her fate because she tried to use the Trump Card on someone the Teigu did not deem a worthy opponent, and thus destroyed her as it's drawback.

One of the soldiers gazed at the charred corpse, looking back up to Lemille with a shudder. "S-Sir, we know you don't wield an Imperial Arms yourself... perhaps hers would suit you?" The guard asked, backing up quickly when Lemille walked forward, the earth itself seeming to tremble with his every step. He knelt down at the burning fire, reaching down and gently grabbing the Chakrams from the dead assassins hands, looking at them.

Internally, Lemille was panicking. Why was he doing this, he shouldn't do this, this was stupid. But if he didn't give it back, those assassins might come back to get it later. And if it was near him, they might try to get him.

So he picked up the chakrams, and with a small delay of thought, he threw it towards the retreating night raid, a gust of wind carrying the weapons to the running assassins. "The weapons were hers. She would want you to have them." He said, slowly looking up to the retreating assassins.

The young form of a child could be seen waddling through the streets in what appeared to be pajamas. Many soldiers had thought it to be a ghost of some victim that had been slain during one of the few serial killings that tended to happen in the empire. Others just decided it best to avoid all together, and then very few would recognize this young child as Yamori the Lieutenant of Captain Lemillied’s Squadron of Soldiers. Of course, people tended to avoid Yamori as they only viewed him as a weak, and sad example of the Empire's nepotism. He had never shown any ability in the field, and other than the occasional good idea he wasn’t all that helpful. Most members just talked trash under their breath about him and begrudgingly went about their business.

Yamori on this night was sporting his favorite pajamas, a white kimono-like sleeping gown that made him appear much more ghostly. He figured it would help with people avoiding him. On a few occasions, he was unlucky enough to run into members of other squadrons, or even a night raid member of 2 who foolishly assumed him to be some sort of lost child caught up in the battle. He made sure to kill everyone involved in those interactions. He couldn’t afford to let anyone know about his special talent, and he hated being treated like a helpless child unless he specifically put on that face. Usually, Yamori would have been getting ready for bed by now, but due to this ambush, he was forced to be awake, and that had him more than a little cranky.

“Gek, I think I want to play hide n seek,” he said to seemingly no one, until a large lizard-like monstrosity appeared behind him, its ringed eyes bulging from the sides of its head. The creature lowered its head for Yamori to reach up, and with a swift swipe of his hand, Yamori pulled back a scale of Geks. “This should do, alright back to hiding now Gek, can’t have anyone knowing about you.” The Danger beast gave no response but quickly disappeared from sight.

Yamori then took his Teigu, the Needles of Divine Creation, and began to knit something. His hands moved at blinding speeds, and skill impressive for someone older than him, let alone someone his age. Before long, he pulled out a blanket that shone in the moonlight with an almost translucent gleam. He wrapped it over his own body and immediately became invisible. “Alright Yamori, where is the Captain? I need to find him before he makes a fool of himself,” he stated in a hushed tone before receiving some unseen signal and heading off towards the area where Captain Lemillied was believed to be.

__zena_project_moon_and_1_more_drawn_by_nishikujic__7ed0ffd5644845dbe54456c0f4360d73.jpgUpon the rooftops of Palace City, a shadow advanced steadily. Its passing is marked by a brief light and a black figure darker than the sky above it. It moved as if to spite the coming of dawn, and those that perceived its wake were seldom. Those that did were smart enough to pretend they hadn’t. None could be sure of its source, but rumors abound. And a shadow within the City was something to be avoided at all cost. Just as the bell tolled, a brief glimpse of the shadow could be seen, a figure wreathed in black, perhaps oddly enough, gold. The figure was lithe yet indistinct, blending into the darkness surrounding it, before vanishing once more into it. Its coming was neither swift nor slow, but inexorable in its pursuit. That shadow was Satharial, an Adjudicator of the Empire, once again carrying out her role within the Capital City. Her arrival to the ambush against Night Raid was later than most, but this was to her tastes. The chance of catching stragglers and seeing the expression upon their faces once caught was well worth it in her eyes. This would be her first direct encounter with Night Raid, and her first meeting with the Demon General Lemillied, who she had been reassigned to. Satharial had heard much about him, and if the rumors were even half as true, then he was sure to be interesting. No one knew the power of rumors better than an Adjudicator, and sifting for the truth hidden between was simple.

Yamori had been running for only a few moments when he realized he felt a draft. “That’s strange; you’d think a blanket would keep the draft away,” he thought to himself as he ran from one alleyway to another, having not realized his blanket had fallen off and he was clearly visible for anyone who he might come upon.

As Satharial loomed over the street below, her gaze landed on a figure she was surprised to have missed. And it was a child, no less; her eyes were more than capable of making out his features even from her vantage point. A slight grin stretched across her face as recognition dawned. It was her first time meeting him directly, but she had long since known of him. Meager though the reports had made him seem, no one entered the Empire's purview without her foreknowledge. The rings upon her hands emitted a gold light, just barely illuminating her figure, and with a leap empowered by her Teigu’s black lightning, she appeared directly behind the boy.

“You must be the Tatsu boy. For someone of your abilities to be wandering about while Night Raid is near appears quite foolhardy to others, no?” She stood over him, despite only being a few inches taller; her presence made her seem almost larger.

Yamori was never one to allow others to sneak up on him, as a matter of fact HE was usually the one doing the sneaking. So as a mysterious figure popped up behind him it took all his willpower to not turn and strike them down immediately. Of course it wouldn’t have been that easy in this scenario, but still he almost lost his cover. He looked up and down the woman observing everything about her, ”You know ur a lot fatter than I thought you’d be.” He commented with a childish tone, and sneer towards her.”I recognize you from the meeting I had with Captain, ur spose ta be like our 3rd in command or something right?” He asked, crossing his arms in a smug fashion knowing he was second in command, even if his words weren’t exactly true, as far as ranking was concerned he didn’t outrank the woman, nor did she outrank him. It was something that had bugged him since hearing about it. What was the point of two seconds in commands to the Captain. He hated those idiot old men who ran the empire, he just wanted to kill in peace, but this new individual could make that difficult.

Satharial merely stared down at the boy Yamori for a moment. Her slight smile ever upon her face, yet never reaching her eyes. Her eyes held a turbid gaze as if reflecting nothing but they seemed to look through Yamori all the same. “That look in your eyes… Do you see beyond your world at all? Though, I don’t suppose you hold any answers just yet.” Satharial’s words were cryptic and were utterly unrelated to anything Yamori had said, like she had barely been listening at all. From her slightly hunched position looming over him she straightened, granting Yamori some personal space. “You are a bold one, child. Watching you flounder about would be quite entertaining, however we do still have our obligations which bind us so.” She cast her gaze to the ambush spot now much closer to them enough so that the sound of shouts and clashes could begin to be overheard. “They say to find pleasure in one's work is a sign of a fulfilled life. If that is the case then surely this must be a fortuitous encounter.” Her once slight grin stretched into an almost manic smile, “Let us be off, my childish colleague.” With that she forgoes her original tactic of crossing the rooftops and instead walks upon the streets as if taking a leisurely stroll.

Yamori watched the old lady walk off paying her words no mind, he impudently stuck his tongue out and pulled down his eyelid making a childish face at her. She was strong but he was strong as well, so he wasn’t worried. Besides he had knowledge no one else had, he knew the Captain's secret, and that was something he’d use to get whatever he wanted.

Suddenly the invisible form of Gek nuzzled him from behind and placed the blanket that had fallen off back over his shoulders.”Thanks, I need to be more careful about that, I’d hate to kill someone in front of an entire Squadron, even I would struggle to kill an entire squadron alone.” He secured the blanket over him making sure no part of his body was visible then he took a slightly different route to the ambush point. Moments later Yamori found himself at the spot of the ambush point and it seemed like there was a momentary standoff between the Captain and some of Night Raid, before one of them declared a retreat leaving a blue haired girl to take on the captain. Yamori watched amused as the girl charged at the captain before self-destructing in what was the most hilarious display of bad luck he had ever seen. One of the soldiers called out her Teigus abilities and Yamori pieced together what had happened. She had died because the captain was so pathetically weak that her Teigu found it insulting to use her trump card on him.

Yamori watched the other members of Night Raid run off and was preparing to follow after until another obstacle appeared, it seemed 3 more members of Night Raid had hung back to give their colleagues some time seeing as their blue haired friend failed so horribly. One of the Night raid members approached the empire soldiers, he had spikey black hair, and a spiked collar around his neck,”You probably think you have the numbers advantage, well you’re wrong!!! Take this!!!” Suddenly the ambush was surrounded by what seemed like several dozen copies of the man, as he activated his trump card Army of One. Yamori simply giggled to himself seeing such a pathetic last stand, almost as bad as the blue haired woman.”Ok Gek feeding time,” He cooed at his pet before unleashing him upon the “One man Army,” and laying witness as his invisible lizard danger beast began ripping apart the enemy, although as far as anyone could tell they were only dying once they came within a certain range of a certain someone. Yamori had to keep a low profile, so he agreed to help the Captain appear more competent than he was, this meant coming up with all sorts of fun ways to make it look like he was killing enemies without even trying.

The Adjudicator made for a slightly alternate path than Yamori had gone down. Placing her in a different position. One she hoped would lead to some rather rich entertainment. She came upon the ongoing ambush just behind crumbling imperial blockade, the guard beginning to be overwhelmed by the inordinate pressure Night Raid placed on them in a desperate bid to escape. With some soldiers being blasted apart by a Teigu. It was a position she favored. The Imperial Soldiers had their back to her, but she walked briskly towards them. The soldiers would involuntarily shudder and the hair on their neck would rise as they crossed into Satharial’s electric field. She gave nary a word but sensing her presence they began to part like water allowing her to pass.

Before her lied Night Raid; a group seemingly led by a man with long dark hair and a gun which was undoubtedly an Imperial Arm. Satharial’s smile met her enemies as if she was encountering old friends. “Good evening, my apologies but I can’t allow you to leave just yet. This night still has so much to offer after all. Your color has pervaded the Empire much too profusely. It would be quite unfortunate for our Empire to be changed by such half baked ideals. Stay a while we can engage in something of a…debate.”

Her verbosity seemingly coming to an end, Satharial raises a single hand to the sky. A black spark materializes as the rings upon her fingers glow before a bolt of lightning launches into the air. Rather than shoot itself into the sky the bolt instead twists and snakes like a living being. Then it splits into several different lances of lightning striking several members of Night Raid. Curiously enough not a single one strikes the gun wielding man, only his compatriots. Satharial stares at her quarry who remained undamaged. Offering him an enigmatic smile. Just ahead she could see General Lemillied standing over his victim. It seemed the stories indeed held some truth. She looked forward to officially meeting him, but returned her attention to the Night Raid member before her.

There was so much she could do, yet she held back and she wanted him to know that. Infusing Black Lightning into her body she suddenly launched forward her speed a fraction of lightning but still incredibly beyond human means. “That Teigu, it is the ‘Karmic Armament’. Indeed, I know of you. The whispers from the battlefield reveal much to those who listen in between the ravings.” Satharial spoke to the man, known as Karma. The Adjudicator was off to his side, her words worming into his ears. In her hand was a Night Raid member she had incapacitated with her initial attack. Swiftly, with only the shining of her rings as a warning the man's skull burst open from her Black Lightning marring her face and cloak in blood. “How much hate can one man feel, I wonder? Can such a thing truly be quantified by that Teigu? The Teigu are of a higher order and yet man who wields them is so fickle; if that burning emotion gives way to a dark sinking well, will it still grant you the power you seek?” Her grin broke into a manic mocking smirk, “I’d very much like to see the answer you fashion from these dregs.”

Yamori sat eating his bag of chips and swinging his legs invisible to everyone around him, happily humming as his pet Danger Beast Gek continued to rip apart the clone army at incredible speeds. Uncertain of what was happening the clones began to panic, retreating, and others rushing at Lemillied in a desperate attempt to end this madness, but they only ran into the jaws of death as Gek quickly swooped down on them invisible and consumed them. After all the clones where dead and only 2 Night Raid members were left standing in horror at the massacre before them Yamori quickly found a place to remove his invisibility blanket and then made his official entrance, "Oh Captain!!! There you are! I’m so sorry I was late for the ambush I dozed off for a bit! Please forgive me-oof.” Yamori said, faking a trip and face planting at the feet of his captain. Of course he hadn’t dozed off, in fact he was quite cranky from not getting any rest, but he needed to put up a front. That being said when he heard one of the soldier make a snide comment about how useless it was to have a child as their lieutenant he couldn’t help himself. In one quick motion Gek ripped the soldier's head off his soldiers causing a fountain of blood to erupt from his neck stump as Gek retreated into the shadows before the blood could coat his body and reveal him to the other soldiers. Of course now it looked like the Captain had killed one of his own soldiers for disrespecting a superior.”Ouchy, my face hurts,” Yamori said in a cutesy fake tone rubbing where he had landed on his face, and looking up to his captain with a smile.

"The Unscratched Demon General" Lemille Lemillied
1729240702448.png
The "Ultimate Danger Beast" Lemille seemed to be unreactive to the people who died around him without him so much as twitching, keeping his arms crossed as the blood sprayed around him. He internally was terrified, but he dared not even speak due to the war going on around him, as he saw the invisible form of his Lieutenant appear in the distance, having had his head turned when it occurred. That was when one of the men spoke up, and he saw their head vanish. He knew what happened, swallowing silently as he walked towards the body slowly, trying to think of some way to salvage this, before his eyes shot open when he saw what the soldier was holding.

There was a grenade of unique make that the Revolutionary Army tended to use, and... the pin was removed.

Reacting in a panic, Lemille shuffled around quickly before trying to kick the grenade up, only for his foot to catch it at an angle and pop it up. Seeing it directly in front of his face, he let out a scream in response, once again becoming The Behemoths Rumble as he punched the grenade up, a gust of wind accompanying his punch and launching the grenade up into the sky, where it exploded mid air away from everyone else.

"T-The general knew he was a traitor!" The guards cheered once more, before turning at the retreating night raid members and running after them with new morale from seeing the
"Immortal Behemoth"'s feats in person.

Lemille began to walk towards the fighting himself, knowing he couldn't stay behind without blowing his cover, black and red flame spouting from every step he took. He turned to his Lieutenant, giving a slow gesture forward.
"I figure you intend to have fun as well." He said simply before walking towards the retreating forms, his eyes already scanning for some way to get out of sight himself.

Sage Vallian
1729317254122.png
Sage didn't know where things went so wrong, but there wasn't time to think about that right now. Not only were they severely outnumbered, but they were losing members left and right, and not to mention that the "King Of Monsters" was here, and he had already killed one of their members without even moving from his place, and had completely nullified the attack of their other friend. But, he couldn't help but respect the man, he didn't seem like the other monsters of the empire, especially when he threw Lian's Teigu back to them.

He grabbed them quickly, and followed after the other members of the squad, only for them to get cut off by a woman with huge boobs her own Teigu and some weird speech about how Teigu were greater and how fickle humans were, as he quickly brought up his gauntleted hand.
"Get back Mr. Karma!" He shouted, punching the ground with his gauntlet as the ground began to crack, thorned vines appearing and surging towards the woman. Sage didn't like violence, but he well understood it's need in this line of work, as he launched an attempt at binding the admittedly pretty but INCREDIBLY creepy woman.

How the fuck did it go so wrong? And why?

Anton was busy at a bar, just trying to keep his nerves in check. He had heard his fellow Night Raid people had just gone to the planned destination, only to also hear the cries and screams of his fellow members dying out there.

Now, he would do anything for his bros, but the problem was... They still need his life as a construction worker. Without that, they would be blind for sure. Steeling himself with another swig of his alcohol, he peeked outside of the bar's window.

He could hear people shouting and yelling ahead, and then... He heard Karma.

Extremely concerned, he decided to just set up the hatch. He tapped the bar counter a couple times to let the bartender know what he was planning on doing. With another swig, he dashed out the back door into an alleyway he wouldn't be seen in. He looked up, making sure no one on the rooftops could see him.

He made sure his utility belt was still around his waist before grabbing a hefty brick. He pulled out into a street adjacent to the one where the conflict was, and he swore he had heard Sage speak. Fucking wild, what is that kid doing out here???

He threw the brick with all his might, shotputting it clear above the building separating himself and his group in conflict with someone. He heard concrete moving and something like branches breaking, but he didn't care. Thanks to his ability to gauge distance, he was sure he wouldn't be hitting Karma or Sage. He then ran back into the side street he just came out of, and pulled a pipe from the wall like a lever before putting it back.

In the midst of random knickknacks that were normal to see in a small alleyway like this (random discarded bottles, crates, boxes, barrels, a trash can, etc.), a concrete hatch slid away to show a tunnel that led directly out of Palace City but not directly to the HQ, as that would be a stupid design. He then went back inside the bar and peeked out the small eye slat of the door to make sure his people got in safely, his hand on the lever that closed the hatch, waiting for the opportune time.

In fact, he might just start closing it as soon as he saw at least a couple people jump inside. He's hoping that those who were in conflict with that lady would know that brick was a signal, because who else in their group could lob a fucking brick over a house?

Ambushed, out numbered, in the heart of enemy territory and but chased by the empires worst. Night Raid was in trouble, they needed a distraction or something to keep the dogs of the empire of their back. Luckily for them Rioz was here, the beast was out and he had a plan.

Axel "Karma" Grimes
----
The route was clear, and they were hauling ass! Axel didn't want to lose any more people, but that didn't stop one of his comrades from staying behind to buy time for the other's escape. She was determined to hold back the Demon General, and before Karma could say anything she had already stormed off to face him while activating the Trump Card of her Teigu.

"Shit! Everyone keep moving I don't want anyone else going astray!" he cried out his orders while looking back to see the unfolding events between the chakram-wielding woman and the Demon General. He witnessed her activating her trump card, and for a moment he was feeling hopeful that perhaps she would somehow make it through ok- and never mind. The moment her trump card activated, she combusted into a ball of flame, leaving Axel utterly stumped as to what he just witnessed, wondering to himself 'Could there really be someone so powerful? What the FUCK is this guy!?'
So he picked up the chakrams, and with a small delay of thought, he threw it towards the retreating night raid, a gust of wind carrying the weapons to the running assassins. "The weapons were hers. She would want you to have them." He said, slowly looking up to the retreating assassins.
As the Teigu of his fallen comrade drifted down to his feet, Axel gave a raised eyebrow to the Demon General "Oi, is this your idea of saying sorry!?" he called out sarcastically then gestured toward Sage to pick them up as they continued to make their retreat.

Stopped in his tracks, Axel was now face to face with the Empire's Black Flash, this would be the first time they had a face-to-face encounter, but Axel had been hearing stories about Satharial even before he was assigned to Night Raid. 'Yeah, yup. I DEFINITELY did something bad to deserve this..' Axel thought to himself as not only was the Demon General on their tail but so was his right hand. Appearing in a flash with another one of his comrades in her hand, he watched with wide-eyed shock as the man's head burst open, covering Sathariel in his blood. Karma's blood was beginning to boil over, hatred filled his lungs and steam could almost be visible from his ears.

"You...YOU FUCKING BITCH! You know me, do you? Well, I know you too, bitch - and you just made it onto my list." he yelled out with as much spite in his voice as he could muster under the circumstances. His grip was tightening around his Teigu, and he was getting ready to engage in a fight that seemed otherwise inevitable - but before either of them could make a move, Sage moved in with his gauntlet Teigu raised.

Having a pretty good idea of what was about to happen, Karma didn't hesitate to listen to Sage when he said to get back. Taking a large leap behind Sage to avoid the incoming thorned vines sprouting up from the ground, Axel still wasn't quite content with just allowing one of his allies to fight a threat like the Black Flash alone.

Even Cassidy had to admit, this was looking quite grim. Nevertheless, she did what she could, and Arden – well, Arden remained as stoic as he always did.

For a moment Karma thought the brick was sent by the karmic angels of above, as it launched its way down toward Black Flash alongside the rushing vined thorns created by Sage's Teigu, and Sage moved forward yet another one of his allies jumped into the fray to join in the chaos. This time it was Rioz who lept from the shadows and began slashing his way through faceless imperial guards followed by Arden. Fortunately for them, they were close to an escape hatch they could use to take an express tunnel out of the city, but he didn't want to risk being followed. He decided to back up his allies who were charging while calling out to the few remaining survivors "I said move it! You know where to go, now get to it! We are dropping like flies here." the vein in his head began to bulge as his annoyance with the whole situation grew "These fuckers....They'll pay...I'll make em' pay!" he said with conviction as he marched forward with the barrel of his Teigu now levelled toward the general direction of his enemy - namely the Black Flash who posed the most immediate threat to their escape. Once she was clearly in his sights, he pulled the trigger - unleashing a destructive wave of energy that blasted away everything in its path toward Sathariel. He then called out to Sage "I'm gonna lay down some smoke, I want you to keep the vines coming to try and block their path. We need them to lose sight of us before we risk going for 'the exit'." he then added another command directed toward Rioz who continued to carve a path in enemy forces as the others "Rioz, I see what you are trying to do but you need to calm down and draw back, if we work together, we might be able to make it out of here without any further deaths." at the same time Axel reached for his grappling-hook attachment for his Teigu, and then drew out a smoke grenade with his free hand, setting it rolling down by the feet of the Empire forces engaging them.

"The Unscratched Demon General" Lemille Lemillied

Lemille saw the chaos unfurling around him from the armored assassin jumping around, raising his hands up to his head to try and calm his nerves, though his stance began to look like he was charging up some kind of technique, as the black and red aura flowed out from under his body. He began to let out another "Behemoth Rumble", in other words a scream to deal with the stress as a soldier noticed what was "Happening", and called out to the rest of his comrades.

"WATCH OUT LADS! THE GENERAL'S USING HIS DEVILSPEED VANISH!" The soldier called out, bringing his blade up and bracing himself for the burst of air that usually accompanied this "famous technique".

When the smoke grenade clattered to Lemille's feet, he nearly cried out of happiness. He saw the small amount of smoke pouring out of the missing fuse, looking up to the one who had thrown it, Karma he thought the name was, and felt so elated he felt he needed to thank them SOMEHOW, so he looked towards them and lifted a hand to his face, flicking his hand forward to give a quick point to Karma, before lifting his foot and stomping on the smoke grenade, detonating it faster so he could get out of their faster than he would have been able to otherwise.

When the smoke around his position vanished... he was gone.

With the explosion of smoke, he quickly ran to the side, dipping into a nearby alleyway, trying to find a place to hide while the battle was going down. He felt around in the smoke, until he felt the handle of a door, smiling under his mask as he pushed it open quickly.

From within the bar that he had opened the door to, it would look like he was simply standing in the doorway as it opened before him, smoke pouring around him, mixing with his aura as he walked into the building.
"Finally.... a place to hide during their escape..." He muttered while closing the door behind himself. Due to the noise of the wind and closing door, all those within the bar could hear him say was "Their Escape".

He saw the people within, looking around. "There are fugitives within the city. Remain inside." He said, looking around the room. He kept his talking to as little as possible, hoping to keep himself without being misconstrued, he just wanted to stay here for a little while. But he couldn't tell them he was just passing through or checking for fugitives, because his village's greatest taboo was to lie. But hopefully these people would believe that themselves and feel safe enough to not question him on that.

He was entirely unaware that he shouldn't want them to believe that, seeing as this bar was allied to night raid. Which made it look like his command to stay inside was as if he knew and didn't want them running away.

He walked forward, the earth vibrating with each step he took, until he walked towards the back, glancing back to see if there was any good hiding spots.

Sage Vallian

Sage nodded at his commander, punching the ground once more to rise another pile of vines, the tendrils spiking up from the concrete as thorns sprouted from the sides of the vines, scraping the brick walls they passed by. Sage tried to use them to fill the alleyway enough that the woman hopefully couldn't get through, turning to Karma once it was done and running after him, knowing the escape route from the briefings they had previously.

He ran between the walls of the alleyway, turning the corner and seeing the secret hatch, giving a quick two finger salute as he dived towards it, looking behind himself and waiting near the entrance to make sure everyone could get through. When he had seen most people through, he walked alongside them, listening to the two siblings talk and looking confused. "We just lost countless friends, and you're concerned about her crass vocabulary reaction??" He said, confused at the priorities the boy seemed to hold, before looking down at his hands, still holding Lian's teigu, recalling how she burst into flame. She was such a kind woman, gone in an instant. Why did this have to happen? How did they get them like this?

Was the rebellion even worth it if those were the odds they were up against...?

"No," said Arden, "that actually isn't what concerns me right now. It was more of a reflex than anything else."

Cassidy snorted. "Yeah, I'm such a potty mouth that he's gotten used to chastising me."

"We'll regroup and rebuild," said Arden. "We'll find a way like we always do."

Cassidy briefly turned toward him and gave two thumbs up in agreement.

Atsuhiro watched as he saw Cassidy and Arden jump inside the tunnel. The commotion got closer. He was starting to worry that Karma and Sage might not make it. He heard walls get busted down and hoped that was Rioz.

When he did see Sage jump in, he pulled on the lever disguised as an old torch holder that was left here before the owner here took the bar. The hatch will slowly close, giving Karma and Rioz enough time to jump in if they were fast enough.

However, when he was done, he heard one of the glasses break. He rushed out from the back, only to see the bartender had let slip the glass he was cleaning, crashing at his feet, as he stared - somewhat in a trance - by the.....

No no no no no...

Atsuhiro's nerves crashed, but he swiftly calmed down. No one knew the bar was affiliated with Night Raid, and no one knew of his affiliation with Night Raid either. He watched as Lemille stared at him, smoke from the smoke grenade still clinging to him as his aura appeared around him.

Well, better fake it till ya make it.

"'Eyyyyy, big general man!"
He said, showing his chumminess in the face of danger with a slight drunken slur. This was what he trained to do. "Whose escape ya talkin' 'bout, bro? Is that what's been happenin' outside? Yeah, was just peekin' in through the back, the commotion is out that way." He said, pointing behind him towards the back. "Fugitives within the city though, that's rough." He said, trying to not freak out that this guy might know about the bar. "If I were those fugitives, I wouldn't be in the city any longer." Despite the smile, he really felt like he was going to piss himself. "But hey, ya wanna drink? It's on the house." He smiled, slipping behind the bar's counter to slap his bartender friend awake and alive on the shoulder.

The bartender stopped staring rudely and bowed his head apologetically. "I-I apologize for my rudeness, general-sir. L-Let me give you a drink to make up for that. What would you like?" He asked, feeling a bit emboldened by Atsuhiro's charisma.

1729814493239.pngIt was an absolute mess back in Palace City. There was supposed to be an ambush on the Night Raid, which he was asked to participate in. But when he saw who else would be there, he decided on another mission given to him.

Evil never rests, and neither does love apparently.

Not willing to be in the chaos that was that entire ambush, he instead took a mission that the Empire's Teigu-obsessed doctor gave to him. He needed materials, of which Kize was the best at obtaining these materials due to his Shingu's ability.

Kize walked forward along the forest's edge, before walking inside the forest. He climbed up the nearest tree with ease before taking a moment to jump with ease from tree to tree, sometimes walking calmly on branches that were strong enough to support him before jumping across to another tree.

This bit of traversing fun was silenced as he heard a noise and quickly pressed himself against the tree he was on. Tugging on his purple cloak, it turned him "invisible". He sighed, watching as a Danger Beast lurked by.

He figured he'd see some near the border. Gifnora Forest was large, and it was the place where elimination tests to become the Empire's assassins took place. He was sure the Adjudicator Satharial was brought here to fight against the Danger Beasts here, if she was a part of that part of the program.

While the Empire had some pretty crass and cruel programs, not all of it was bad. Kize knew that was missing the forest for the trees, but he didn't care. At least - if Night Raid was gone - people's families could be safe from their wanton assassinations.

As he sat there, waiting for the Danger Beast to pass, he mentally went over what he should grab for Doctor Love-man, his hands going to his short sword and dagger, gripping their hilts as he took in a deep breath, slowing his heart rate.

Lemille gazed at the man who came in from the back, his eyes staring at him as he did his best to recall if that was one of the night raid members that he had seen... but no bells were ringing, and he'd remember the faces of people as scary as that. So he relaxed his shoulders a bit, walking back into the center of the bar. He held his sword at his side, hooking it back into his belt before sitting down.

"No one here has any reason to fear me." He said, glancing over at the bartender who seemed to be fumbling around with the glass, trying to give him some amount of comfort. He looked at the bartender, raising his hand. "Orange Juice, if you have it." He said, taking up the offer on a free drink with his favorite drink, having been a while since he had some. "No need to place it on the house. I pay for what I can afford. It's the least I could do." He said, his aura altering the way his words came out, giving a much more sinister feel to the words/

However, his aura seemed to die down just a bit, though he was shifting a bit in his chair. He had no idea if any of the imperial soldiers had followed him, and hoping they hadn't as if they did that wouldn't look good for him, especially with the battle going on just a little ways away from the sound of things.

However, unawares to him, he happened to be looking back whenever someone was about to stand up, as if he knew their intentions before they even put their foot on the ground.

"I've got to get back to the palace soon, so I'm hoping to avoid any trouble." He said, doing his best to make some small talk... though with the context of his previous words, the words seemed to carry a much more warning connotation.

zvpglotmcn4a1.pngWith fresh warm blood upon her face Satharial shows a almost smug look of satisfaction. As if she had been gifted a particularly pleasing treat. The battle against Night Raid had well and truly begun as a desperate struggle against death or capture. For the imperial forces they had a clear advantage in this ambush, but their victory conditions were far more fragile. All Night Raid had to do was survive to fight another day, while they couldn't allow even one to escape. Satharial would gladly do her part.

She met Karma rage filled words with a smile as she dropped what remained of the corpse in her hands. Black Lightning still crackling between her fingertips before dissipating as she clenched them into fists in sheer anticipation. It was then that another member of Night Raid jumped in-between them likely making some bid to protect his senior comrade. Satharial made no extraneous efforts, she simply stood where she was unmoving. The woman known as the "Black Flash" had lived up to her name. Still one moment and then suddenly upon you like a lightning strike. The question was when she would act and in what way? Leaving her targets guessing, left on the backfoot as they realized there enemy was an untenable force. That was an act born of both strategy, arrogance, and a desire for greater thrills.

Her arms were crossed under her bosom, as she gazed at the young studious looking man as he scrambled his defense. Using a unique looking gauntlet he struck the ground, and the earth reacted. Cracking open to reveal rapidly growing thorny vines which rushed Satharial. In tadem Karma leaped back keeping distance between himself and Satharial. It was a logical move give the situation, yet still Satharial made no movements. Even as the rage of nature sought to painfully constrict her. As soon as the vines entered a seemingly innocuous distance from her they suddenly burned away rapidly. Only those that crossed an imperceptible line were destroyed yet they were destroyed all the same. Once again she had made no movements, but somehow she had become unreachable. The only clue was a brief spark that lit the air whenever a vine got too close.

"That is not an Imperial Arm. A Shingu, then?" Satharial questioned the young man known as Sage almost amicably as if engaged in passing conversation within a café. All the while his summoned vines continued to be burned away the moment they go too close. "No, not a Shingu. The scent of it is immature, and yet old. A new creation then. The Empire makes great effort to keep those of such capabilities within their hands or unable to become a threat. For one to slip through is not impossible, but interesting nonetheless." Satharial quickly came to understand a portion of the nature of Sages Teigu. The young man having successfully garnered her attention, to his detriment. It was then that an innocuous object quietly hurtled through the air rising over a building then falling towards them. In a stroke of luck for the one who threw it, the brick aims to fall straight on top of Satharial. She did not seem to realize this as she continued to watch her quarry. Suddenly, once the brick had crossed an invisible threshold her arm shot out like a snake catching it out the air. She brought it around to her front so she could see the offending object. The expression on her face seemed both bemused and amused.

Fortunately for Sage that was just when Karma finished directing the survivors of Night Raid. Allowing him to finally he level his hate filled glare at Satharial, prepared to engage in battle for the sake of his compatriots. He raised the Karmic Armament and with little fan fare fired a shot towards her. The energy of nebulous composition raced forward. From what Satharial knew, even if the young man had been in the way of the shot it would likely on have bene to his benefit. For her however, it would no doubt only seek to annihilate her where she stands. Once again she makes no effort to evade. The same force which burned Sages vines becomes perceptible becoming a translucent field around Satharial. Where the shot strikes it grows denser forcing the Karmic Armaments blast to travel through more than just the air. The Adjudicator was unworried for she understood this Teigu likely only less than its current wielder. When it came to people the Imperial Arm was consistent so long as the wielders relationships were clearly defined in their heart, but when it came to objects and the like its power dropped considerably. How much could one really hate a rock after all especially in the spur of a moment, or even something they were not aware even existed? Of course this can be overcome. If only Satharial were a lesser enemy this may have been a non factor.

The protective field of Black Lightning around Satharial had grown so dense it was beginning to become opaque. Other lightning based Teigu would likely be unable to do this but the uniqueness of the "Profane Black Tempest" allowed it to be so. Karmas shot did land but by the time it had done so much of the energy had been bled off and as it dissipated upon striking her the Adjudicator remained standing seemingly unblemished, and certainly not vaporized as had likely been the intention. A trail of blood seeps from her mouth unable to sway the eerie grin on her face. The only sign she had suffered damage at all. Raising a hand she wipes some of the blood onto her fingers, in the process mixing the blood of her victims and her own. She gazes at it before rubbing it between her fingers feeling its consistency, an almost rapturous expression crosses her face, "Is this the depths of your hatred, or must I draw deeper from the well?".

Игры-Lobotomy-Corporation-LC-Sefira-6444295.png
Then for the first time since this encounter began she stepped forward. Slow, measured steps. Unhurried yet unrelenting like the movement of a glacier. All the while any Night Raid who crossed her path were suddenly charred from electrocution. "Young man, you are of house Vallian who once held 'Cosmic Collage' are you not?" Her words were conversational as if the attack upon her had not occurred yet there was a creeping chill in those words; a mounting suspense as to their purpose. "I thought so, its been some time but the Prime Minister spoke of his family often. Especially for his brother. I almost didn't recognize you, though you have never seen me I have seen you. One tends not to look to deeply into shadows after all. What a scene we have weaved here despair and hope intermingling, but this may be the most poignant performance." Surpisingly enough Satharial expressed her familiarity with Sage. Being a Adjudicator; an "Imperial Shadow" protecting key individuals was also part of their duties. And shadowing the Prime Minister was one of great importance, a post they all shared.

Just as before her Teigu rings glowed a bit brighter, and then she briefly embodied the Black Lightning moving at great speeds. Till she stood directly before Sage, despite being taller than her she exuded an aura of something looming over him. The vines which had stemmed from his position all burned away into ash. The hairs on Sages neck rise and a tingling spreads throughout his body as Satharials Black Lightning Cloak washes over him. She leans in almost as if confiding in him a secret, the distance already shortened between them grows even shorter.

"Ah if only Garrion had been here, though he would not appreciate the alluring irony. He and you share a close bond, perhaps you'd even recognize him from that day. He did say the child had disappeared. And into Night Raids arms it seems." Satharial had truly begun to enjoy herself, finding joy in her work. Even as Night Raid struggled around them and Imperial Soldiers were ripped in two she didn't seem to care fixated on this moment as she was. She did not state the obvious, but the implications were clear as glass. An Adjudicator had been involved in the deaths of Sages family likely even directly, and now one stood before him. Perhaps to finish the work the other one started.

"I wish to see it, that vivid expression which is a testament to life. Show me what it means to live." The field around her began to crackle with lightning causing those within such as Sage's nerves to react twitching their muscles. Yet it was not yet dangerous, Satharial wanted something first. Perhaps that was Night Raids opportunity.

Sage was about to run towards the exit as ordered, but that was when the womans honey slick voice entered his voice. The best way he could compare the sickly tones of her voice was like if you could take the sweet slow lackadaisical movement of honey, but mixed it with the poisonous and slick of black tar oil. He couldn't help BUT listen to her as she spoke, even as his mind screamed at him to run to the tunnel and get out of there. But he stood still, halted by his own bodies response to her words. His mind was racing a million miles per minute as she spoke.

She saw through his creation of Wenningarrfel almost immediately, knowing that he was the one to make it. And that already set off alarm bells in his mind, she clearly knew much to be able to differentiate it from some unknown Shingu. That was even more awful for him, as that meant he was going to shoot up the Empire's priority list now that someone knew he was capable of making things even slightly comparable to Shingu and Teigu. But that didn't even feel to be the most awful part.

Her focus before seemed exclusively on Karma, if even there at all. It was like her mind was elsewhere as she spoke to them. But as she spoke to him in particular, he could feel her gaze on him, like a wild animal feeling the stare of it's predator locking it into place. He watched her step, step, step, closer. His pupils practically shrinking as he watched this night demon of the empire focus all her attention on him, the rookie of night raid. The feeling was almost familiar, some lost nostalgia in his mind getting it's cobwebs removed. His instincts had felt this before, but never in such force.

That was when she mentioned his family, the Noble Vallian House, the ones entrusted with Cosmic Collage: Stentheim. That she knew that meant she knew much more than he would have known before. Especially when as far as he knew, his disappearance would have been chalked up to dying in the wilderness. But she knew better evidently. Then she mentioned his uncle, and how he would talk of his family often, particularly of Sage's father. His eyes narrowed even through his shaking fear, gripping his gauntlet covered hand tightly. "H-How do you know me... H-How do you know my family!" He demanded, before his eyes widened as he came to a realization. "Were you there?! Were you one of the people my uncle sent to kill us?!" He shouted, bringing Wenningarrfel to bare in front of him, looking up at her slowly.

Then she began to elaborate, and it became clear, his teeth gritting beneath closed lips as she grew closer and closer, his mind racing as he tried to think of what she wanted from him, and more importantly, how to get out of there alive with such a monstrous woman looking him in the eyes with the most intent he had seen from her in that night. That was when his eye practically shined, getting an idea. He began to subtly use Wenningarrfels ability to grow a waterfilled cactus next to his ankle, allowing the spines to pierce his leg as it grew up along his leg, until it reached up to the center of his chest. He bit his cheek to try and hide the pain that the spines caused, knowing that his plan would get revealed if he showed any signs of things being out of the ordinary.

Cacti were the best at conducting electricity, far better than the human body was. So by connecting himself to one and allowing it to pierce his body and get his blood on it, it would act as something of a ground to take the electricity instead of himself. He waited until she was right on top of him, his body quaking at her very presence as he felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. He'd only have one chance to escape, as she demanded he give her a face of anger and despair, but he would do her one better, a smile showing through his grit teeth.

"I-I really should thank you if I ever learn your name... a-after all, you just told me the name of the man I need to kill to give my father peace. A-As for you..." He said, his expression twisting as he said that into one of less fear, and more anxiousness as his mind raced on how to complete his plan. He needed her to look away from his gauntlet, but since she was shorter than him, her eyes were naturally inclined to watch his arms... so how to make her look up... He couldn't try attacking her, since her defense system seemed automatic, she wouldn't need to look if he tried to drop a tree on her, it would burn away before it even got close... but his body however, wasn't burning up, since it seemed she wanted him close. Knowing she wanted his expression, he urged every muscle in his body to move, despite it's defiance to get any closer to the she-devil, and forced himself to take a singular step closer, just so that his face was mere centimeters away from her own, close enough to kiss if either of the two puckered their lips. That way, he could abuse the height advantage to make her look away from his guantlet, the moonlight shining against her pale skin as he clenched his teeth in apprehension. His gauntleted hand ever so slowly opened with a single bud in it's palm, that of a bamboo shoot. This was his best bet, as Wenningarrfel allowed for the rapid acceleration of plantlife's growth, and bamboo was not only an incredibly rapid growing species already, but also firm enough to pierce even metal with relative ease. This was his fastest attack that he had developed as of yet, and so with him trying to keep her eyes locked into his

"...I pray you go to heaven, so you can tell my father he'll be avenged soon for me!" He trailed from a whisper to a shout, the bamboo bud getting flooded with life as he tried to use it as an extending spear into her stomach, hoping desperately that his attack was close enough to not get burned away by her aura. And also hoping the cactus would be enough to protect him from her willing him to die like she had anyone else in her path.

__zena_project_moon_and_1_more_drawn_by_aka_dang__3ae364820049386b31a08c5638f5609d.jpgThe Empires Shadow stared down Sage. The empty pools which were her eyes welled with anticipation. Electricity crackled in the air in response to her emotional state. The normally composed woman finally showing any hint of a crack of an actual upsurge of emotion. Moments such as these were few and far between, the only times she truly felt something. In a way she was more vulnerable to emotions than the average person. Satharial could see the expressions on Sages face, savoring every single one. His confusion, surprise, and fear. It all mingled together.

Sage a rather young member of Night Raid was now at the tenuous mercy of Satharial. Cloaked in black and sporting an unsettling smile she stood before him a hidden threat should he move an inch outside of what she allowed. She could see his gauntleted arm shake in fear. But it wasn't enough, not nearly enough. She watched his teeth grit and his eyes be filled with barely contained pain as she had told him the truth of his parents demise. Technically speaking this was classified information, but he was already a rebel knowledge such as this wouldn't change his status nor what would happen next. As Satharial had said, those of his talents were brought to heel or put down.

"Thats right. They were snuffed out by my colleague. And all because the Prime Minister your uncle couldn't stand your father. The spark that lit his hatred was likely envy or perhaps greed. I believe he even considered removing your father, and then stealing away you and your mother as a final act of spite. Could you imagine? In such a life every happiness or joy would be a lie built upon your fathers corpse. I almost regret that it turned out differently, it would have been very amusing." Satharial spoke aloud poisoned words meant to further destabilizing Sages mind. That his father was killed by such a vain person, for such base reasons. As his body trembled with pain and fear her smile stretched further across her face. In a more kind situation it would be almost radiant. Instead it drank in suffering and grew as it did. Fortunately for Sage the Adjudicator misinterpreted his pained expression or perhaps he hid his deceit with his true feelings. While her electric field was potent, focused as she was it was incapable of sensing so minute a movement upon Sages body. His own bioelectric field masking its presence.

Amusingly enough to Satharial but also bringing some interest in his reasoning, Sage closed the distance between them further. She was unafraid of an attack and believed in her superior position to his. In her mind she was unbeatable by a foe who was so beneath her. Thats why even when the young man showed her a defiant smile rather than despair, she only blinked in response as the only sign of her curiosity to this development. "You, kill Garrion? What a naive wish. I suppose desires really are the truest aspect of humans, in all their foolish innoc-..."

Then the unthinkable happened Satharials long winded verbosity was cut off. Interrupted by the once furtive but now loud shot that echoed out from Sage. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she came to understand he would likely try something. It was unfortunate but she would end him here and move on she could only allow so much before she was simply no longer doing her job. With a thought her Black Lightning Cloak began to grow in power intending to char Sage just as it had done his fellows. But Satharial had failed to realize Sages position or rather the position of his Teigu. Whose palm was pointed towards her stomach. A sudden pain struck her from her belly. Just as her electric field increased in power beginning to electrocute Sage she was knocked back by a force she did not notice before. Rather than kill Sage there was only a brief shock and the pain that would come from the cactus around his leg exploding from the flash boiling of the water within as the current travelled along it to the ground. Satharial flew back partially lifted off the ground by the bamboo that rapidly grew and struck like a lance. Her cloak took the brunt of its force, but despite its reinforced nature the bamboo managed to pierce through into her. The air was knocked out of her, and nausea began to mount from the hit to her stomach. Despite that she was silent. With a hand wreathed in lightning she grasped the bamboo, and broke it off. Ceasing its sudden growth and allowing her to stop with a skidding of her feet upon the ground. Her reaction showed the difference between her and the average Imperial Soldier as an enhanced being; something she took full advantage of. Her shoulders sagged and her head hung, as she grasped the bamboo lodged into her. She seemed to be breathing deeply evident by the rise and fall of her body. With a swift motion she ripped the makeshift spear from her body, a trail of blood following it. The wound bled but it didn't seem deep enough to be fatal. Satharial rose to meet Sages gaze with her own, a mad glint in her eyes and a smile unbroken upon her face. These words went unsaid but the fact that she was standing despite Sages attack and the eyes which stared back into his own seemed to say: 'I'm still upon the peak looking down at writhing insects.' Lightning crackled between her fingers as her Imperial Arm glowed brighter.

"That too, is a testament to life." Satharial swept out her hand as if swatting a fly. Shaping the Black Lightning in her hands into a wave that traveled along the ground, sweeping across the battlefield. Striking friend and foe alike violently shocking them though not powerful enough to burn them black till death like before.

Sage saw her react fast as the lightning she took the name of, a pant rising from his body as he felt what would have been very clearly lethal lightning course through his body, leaving out through the cactus into the ground. The flash boil and explosion left it's own mark however... steam rose from his now water burnt body and the leg that the cactus had been attached, as the needles had been shoved into his body from the explosion, blood now pouring onto the ground from his leg and chest. But it was far better than being charred to a crisp, as he grit his teeth to stand through the pain, reaching a hand up shakily to pry a cactus spine out of his eyelid, gnashing his teeth with each movement.

"N-No wonder you want these testaments to life... you're barely alive yourself..." He said, clutching his arm as he saw her wave a hand and casually send a wave of lightning down the alleyway, his eyes widening as he strained his arm to raise up the gauntlet, a tree rising from the ground with it's branches reaching out for the walls, trying to use it to take the bolts for himself. His limited range of use made things very difficult to deal with, seeing as he had a comparatively VERY weak piece of equipment to the woman before him. So trying to think quickly, he realized forming a dense ball in his hands of Cattail splice with a Dandelion, a thick ball of flame retardant powder. He saw the lightning drawing closer and closer, the tree buying just a bit of time as he put all his remaining strength into a throw of the ball. He knew it would be detected and destroyed by whatever defense she had, but he was counting on that.

Cattail was a very densely packed ball of nutrients and powder, and it was incredibly resistant to heat and burning particularly, and with the structure of a dandelion, when she struck it with her aura, it would explode on impact, creating a cloud to obscure her vision that would hopefully give him enough time to crawl to their escape, as with that last throw he fell to his knee, seeing the electricity flow down the alleyway, destroying the tree and flowing towards him. He closed his eyes, bracing for the onset of pain...

"G-GRAAAAAAAHHK!"

He let out a scream of pain as he felt the electricity course through his body, his body now smoking and steaming at the same time from the boiling water getting reheated, the pain causing the young man to fall to the ground unconscious, his body unable to take that much punishment, his eyes rolling back as his eyelids closed. The last thoughts coursing through his head was how casually she talked about his families execution, and how entertaining it would have been for her to watch him live a lie. He couldn't let her get away with it...

Hearing the commotion above, Arden grabbed Cassidy by the shoulder. "Sage is in trouble. I think he's losing a fight with Satharial."

Cassidy growled. "Well, let's get up there then! We're not letting that bitch kill him too!"

Arden nodded. "I have a plan."

They climbed up the hatch. A few seconds later, Arden dropped a smoke bomb from a rooftop in an effort to draw Satharial's attention. Then Cassidy came in, fast as a lightning bolt, and launched a series of high-velocity kicks with electricity crackling from Blitzstep. Then she delivered a series of strikes with her twin short swords to Satharial's body.

"Ya like that?" she said in a low, menacing voice, although she was still talking as fast as she normally does (which was quite fast). "Well, how 'bout some more? Also, you're ugly!"

Then Arden leapt down from the rooftop, silently dispatching an Imperial soldier. He closed in on Satharial as quick as he could without drawing attention, his twin daggers drawn.

Yamori the Ghost

The moon hung over the Capital city beaming down on the carnage that was being wrought by the clashing of Night Raid and the Empires forces. The cheerful laughter of a child could be faintly heard mixing with the screams of soldiers as a trail of dead bodies littered a hidden alleyway where the two groups had been fighting. One after another seemingly on their own members of both Night Raid, and the Empire would be ripped apart or cut up and fall dead. Confusion and fear filled this alleyway as both sides began to run for their lives unsure of what was happening, "It's a ghost!!! We're all going to die run!!! It's the Ghost of the Orphan King come to kill us all!!!!" One of the soldiers screamed as he ran to the nearest exit only to quickly stop and fall to the ground his torso separated from his lower half. Most people would think he was speaking nonsense, but those who were versed on the many antics of the Empire would know he was referring to a young Orphan who had sworn vengeance on the Empire, creating an entire network of homeless Orphans to spy on them after their orphanage had been shut down due to poor funding, and then witnessing several of his own orphan friends become victims of the Empires cruelty as a result. Sex trafficking, drugs, violence, even just being kidnapped for god knows what reason. He witnessed so many disappear and had enough. He was believed to be working for the revolutionary army, and once the Empire finally caught wind of his operation, they took action, sending one of their most vicious Adjudicators to clean house. It was believed that everyone had died, but every now and then the laughter of a child could be heard in the capital city streets followed by Grizzley murder scenes being left behind. Usually the victims were empire citizens, or even occasionally soldiers on guard. This was believed to be the Orphan Kings Ghost working his revenge.....

....ooooof course this was all bullshit as it was just Yamori occasionally going on a killing spree while invisible. He didn't really care who he killed so long as he enjoyed doing it. The exceptions being those strong enough to risk exposer, and those high enough in rank to risk causing him some grief if discovered. But for now, he was just cutting down all the fodder before him as he followed after his Captain Lemille. Oh, for such a coward Yamori couldn't help being drawn to the guy, really, he was his best friend. Mostly because he was black mailing Lemille to be his best friend but still, he couldn't help liking the big lug. He was worried he would need to kill Lemille once he joined his ranks, having heard all the same rumours as everyone else at the time, luckily that was all garbage that his teigu had made people believe, and he discovered the truth. He sometimes giggled himself to sleep thinking about it. What a laugh, the big bad legendary Captain was just a weak scaredy cat guy being protected by his Teigu. He often teased Lemille about it in private, but now he was worried their new addition might Soley his alone time with the captain. It would be hard to keep her from discovering the details of their relationship, and even a child like him had heard about the Adjudicators. Quite the impressive boogeymen they were themselves, but he was sure in a fight he could take her. It would be fun to see if thats the route things had to go.

Yamori stopped walking as the last of the screams had faded, all the foes and allies around his laid dead and he swiped the air with his short katana cleaning it of the blood in one quick movement. He turned his head trying to figure out where his Captain had gone then he discovered it, a pub of some sort? He never really cared for these sorts of places. He hated the smell, the crowds, the way people acted in them, and booze tasted horrible!!! He once threatened Lemille if he didn't let him try some, and soon regretted it. But he definitely knew this was where Lemille had gone, he knew because he had left very clear footprints burnt into the ground with the power he emitted...his armor emitted? His teigu? Whichever it didn't matter the point was he wasn't the hardest to track, so Yamori quickly ran to the door, and waited for someone to open the door so he could enter.

Iwai Otahabei
20e40e7cdb6e27045fb030aa9fbe39db (1).jpg
Iwai wasn't supposed to be here, he wasn't ordered to come here, and quite frankly the Captain would probably chew him out if his hunch was incorrect. However he couldn't shake the feeling that something about this raid was going to turn sideways. It was a pretty big job, and the information had come by them so easily, but if his years in this life had taught Iwai anything it was that nothing came easy. He walked down the streets keeping as low a profile as he could given how high of a target he was for the Empire. He had never actually killed one of their own, but he was directly responsible for training several of Night Raids most successful assassins, and even aiding in taking down a few high priority targets, although again never actually directly getting his hands dirty. He wore a straw hat from his homeland as he walked and lowered his gaze hoping to not garner suspicion. He figured he would stop by one of their Night Raid spots in the Captial to see what the situation was like, surely someone would have information for him, he didn't want to head in blind after all. He just hoped things weren't as bad as his tea leaves had told him. Of course it wouldn't take long for his worries to be confirmed, as he headed towards the Dapper Drunkard one of the more popular Night Raid spots. He opened the door to see the dreaded Demon General Lemille sitting down at the bar drinking some sort of orange beverage. Iwai was truely awe struck by the man, not only was he sitting in the lion's den, but he also was drinking from what had to be a poisoned well. Iwai knew all too well that and self-respecting Night Raid member would take this opportunity to take out one of their biggest threats, but it also seemed a majority of the bar was frozen stiff as he walked in. Suddenly when he stepped foot inside the bar the tension seemed to ease for a moment, before everyone realized what his presence implied, surely a clash between these two would destroy this establishment and take out anyone caught up in it. Iwai was tempted to wait and see if the poison would take down Lemille, but if he was so casually drinking from the cup of the enemy then there were only a few things it could mean.

1. he's suicidal, highly unlikely given his status and legendary record
2. he has an antidote on hand, more likely as fierce of a foe as he is surely, he would always come prepared but still he would need to be able to identify the specific poison
3.The drink wasn't actually poisoned, which while not impossible seemed ridiculous in Iwai's head, a room full of assassins and they don't take the chance, unless of course he had personally poured the glass, and everyone had been too scared to try and slip him poison
4. He's immune to poison, this thought troubled Iwai as many of their best methods of killing foes involved poison, and it would mean they'd have to take this monster down in combat without the benefit of the sneaky poison that many of them utilized

Iwai couldn't wait long however, if Lemille noticed him and decided to get hostile surely this establishment would be torn to ruins. He took one step forward from the door, and suddenly was behind Lemille, "Good tidings my friend," He said hoping Lemille wouldn't recognize him, but realizing how unlikely that was. "Ah juice, yes healthy choice excellent for a growing Emperial dog wouldn't you say Captain Lemille?" He said in a friendly tone that only showed a hint of his toxic hatred for the empire. "So, it seems that my friends outside are in battle with your troops, yet here you sit drinking your juice. Are you truly so carefree? Perhaps we should join them? Shall I show you the way?" He ask his eye gleaming with intent his wooden sword a this hip. Unknown to both of them however Yamori had slipped inside with both of them and was now sitting on the bar sipping his own juice he had taken when no one was paying it any attention, he figured if he wasn't going to get a good battle he might aswell enjoy watching the Captain somehow miracle his way out of another battle, yet he couldn't quite figure out this sword guy. He seemed clearly willing to fight Lemille, yet even against someone he perceived as such a dangerous foe he showed no bloodlust, no intent to kill. Yamori really hated fights that didn't end with someone killing the other, so he figured he'd just sit it out.

"The Unscratched Demon General" Lemille Lemillied
1729240702448.png
Lemille gazed down at the orange juice as he began to drink it, having not watched them pour it with how he was looking around the room due to his nerves. When it was offered to him, he unclasped his mask just a bit, allowing him to drink it with his helmet half off. It was likely the only time those within had so much as seen a single bit of his face, as he kept his helmet firmly on during any time he was around other people. He did enjoy the orange juice, though it was a bit sweeter than what he thought. He wondered if they added something else to it, glancing over at the man who seemed to urge on the bartender, Atsuhiro he thought it was. "This half and half?" He asked in that similar tone as usual, the deep rumble of his voice echoing with deeper intention and hidden meanings. Someone as experienced as Iwai would easily see between the lines of his speech, that he was so casually asking if the orange juice was half poison, confirming his own immunity with the sheer dismissiveness in which he asked.

However, then he heard the door open, his nerves already at their end as he gripped the glass in his hand with enough force to shatter it, turning his head slowly as he saw Iwai standing behind him. His eyes widened beneath his helmet, which was now back in it's fully disguising state, making the emotionless exterior form once more. He listened to the words of Iwai, slowly standing up from the seat. His slow methodical state of standing was due to his body locking up with fear. But outwardly, it seemed like it was an aura of being completely unafraid, as if he didn't even need to care that Iwai was there, and that he was going to be leaving shortly anyhow. He looked at the man as he rested his hand on his blades hilt, lazily turning his head to the man in response to the carefree question. However, he turned his head around the inn, his eyes lingering on the windows as internally he was thinking about jumping out of one to get away, but rather, he turned back to Iwai. He could tell just from looking at the elderly man, that if that man tried to kill Lemille... "It would be all too easy..." He said, the intention filtered by his blade that the opposite was true, that Lemille didn't see the battle as worth his time.

Lemille rolled his shoulder, his aura intensifying as his heart raced, trying to think of some way out of this, before realizing that if he tried to run away, he'd probably get grabbed and exposed by one of the people in the inn, as he began to look around again at the windows, those outside seeing his eyes linger over the city around them. "Too many people..." He said, internally resigning himself to getting stopped by one of the people in the inn. But the sword filled the words he spoke with an intention he did not hold, that if he were to fight Iwai in that moment, too many innocent people would die from the sheer explosive power he held, as those around would be aware of due to the wide spread tale of The Erasure of Mellatia, when Lemille had erased an entire rebelling city from the map with but a single wave of his hand.

He turned, and began to walk towards the front exit, the floor burning beneath his feet with his aura as usual, leaving black charred footsteps behind him. Internally confused that no one was stopping him to call him a fraud or reveal his true nature as a coward.

Axel "Karma" Grimes
----
Tonight was really starting to grind his gears. Axel was getting more and more irate by the moment. Not only did his attack practically fizzle out before it reached its target, leaving the Black Flash relatively unscathed outside of a slightly bloody nose, but she shrugged it off with that self-satisfied smirk of hers as she continued her attempts to toy with Night Raid and the number of ally casualties continued to stack up. It was working; at least on Axel - but that would perhaps prove to be to the Black Flash's own detriment.

But while Axel's attention might have been firmly on the Black Flash, it was evident that the person she was more interested in was Sage Vallian. A conversation flared up between the two, where a lot of information that Axel was previously unaware of came to light. His mind was going back to his suspicions of a traitor amongst them, and for a moment he couldn't help but look at Sage a little bit differently. A risky business considering the armament he wielded, his suspicions were put to rest however as things progressed to the point of Sage approaching Satherial and unleashing a surprise bamboo attack using Wenningarrfel. It managed to momentarily catch the Blash Flash off-guard and create some extra distance between her and the rest of Night Raid. Now the enemy was on one end of the alleyway, with allies at the other end.
'I'm still upon the peak looking down at writhing insects.' Lightning crackled between her fingers as her Imperial Arm glowed brighter.

If Axel had any suspicions about the nature of Sage, they were put to rest when he used his quick thinking to minimize the damage caused by the electric wave sweeping down the alleyway and directing it onto himself. Axel could do little more than simply watch as Sage absorbed all the damage in their stead. He cried out in pain and was ultimately left lying unconscious on the floor in a steaming pile. At the same time, Sage's other ploy to create a smoke cover worked, with whatever concoctive ball he threw combusting into a large cloud that worked to obscure the vision of the Empire forces. The downside was it also meant that Karma couldn't see his opposition - which meant that he was not only shooting blind but shooting blanks in this position. With how his karmic armament worked, his options were limited. There was a six-second cooldown for every time he pulled the trigger. At first, he thought it might be best to use Sage's efforts to save his those seconds to instead make their escape, but just as Karma approached to examine Sage's condition - his other allies re-entered the fray.

He could hear the voice of Cassidy beyond the cloud that made it evident she, and more than likely her brother, were attempting to come to their aid with a sort of ambush of their own. Acting based on what he thought was the best decision given the circumstances, he took out and brought the end of his barrel pointing down at the body of Sage. His expression was that of a fierce and cold soldier about to commit an execution, however his actual intentions were the opposite. "Y'know what they say junior? Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love; it will all come back to you in abundance...I know you're unconscious but if you were awake I think you would have liked that one all things considering.." he said for nobody's benefit in particular and he pulled the trigger. Firing point blank at Sage, but contrary to how this situation would usually work it didn't harm Sage at all but instead helped give him a jumpstart back to consciousness, giving him enough function over his body to start moving on his own, and his karmic armament began to click down to its next shot. "Karma has no menu, everyone gets what they deserve." he said with a conclusive tone as he looked out beyond the cloud, thinking to himself that it was time that another person also got what he felt they deserved.

He took out his grapple-hook attachment and mounted it on the bottom of his Teigus barrel, using a separate trigger he could shoot out the grapple hook, which he did to quickly scale his way up onto one of the rooftops - where he would spot Arden going in for a sneak attack against Satherial whilst Cassidy engaged her directly. Now he was above the alleyway streets he was now able to get a clear line of sight at the Black Flash, and considering that Cassidy and Arden were already taking it upon themselves to bring the fight to her he felt it only responsible to help in whatever way he can, but that didn't mean he was going to completely ignore their insubordination "Didn't I tell these guys to retreat already?! We can't afford to lose any more than we have, not to say I'm not grateful for the aid....But still.." he mumbled to himself before he trailed off as his sights and attention squared onto Satherial. He gritted his teeth as his Teigu counted down the remaining seconds of his cooldowns with audible clicks from the chamber of his karmic armament.

For now, he would stay on the rooftops and observe from a distance as he awaited the cooldown for his Teigu. He would wait for a chance, an opportunity - an opening of some kind. He knew that if he had a clear shot, Karma would give Satherial something to remember him by.
