Ever since that day two years ago, Night Raid's activity had grown to a frightening level, which bothered both the empire and the majority of its citizens alike. Every day an execution of a member of the Revolutionary Army would be carried out in the centre of the capitol, as a symbol for the league of assassins to stand down or face 'the same fate'. In fact, it was a mechanic designed to shake the whole of the Revolutionary Army... To no avail. They stood proud and vigilant, their goal of retaking the capitol waning heavily on their minds.
The bodies of the executed would either be slung into a ditch and burnt, or left hanging outside of the city gates depending on the persons rank in life. A few days ago, they managed to capture and kill one of the Revolutionary Generals and his body was left hanging by the gates as a message. It's still there. That's not to say that the Revolutionary Army has sat idle, so far, they have caused some major casualties as well.
One of such, was Minster Leonard. He was a key figure of the empire, and his death certainly dealt them a major blow, perhaps one of the biggest yet.
-Five days ago-
There had been rumours of Night Raids whereabouts in the capitol and thus the empires elite guardians increased the amount of guards on duty for the entirety of the night. Guards literally flooded the whole city. But the guards were stupid, and that was their downfall. Tonight, there was a ball taking place in the city hall and thus many key figures of the empire were there, even the emperor himself. Ever single key member of the Elite Guardians was also present, standing guard should anything happen. Much to their surprise, the ball went smoothly and thus afterwards the activity of the guards dissipated, as everyone truly did believe that Night Raid were to attack the ball.
They were wrong. It was true that there was an assassin in the city, but that assassin was tearing down the wanted posters of himself and his colleagues, he filled the city with the rumours of Night Raids apparent plans to attack the ball, and thus got everyone's guard up, only to watch them crash down and for activity to diminish. After all, loosening the guards activity was something that had to be done for this mission to go smoothly. When the majority of wanted posters were taken down, and torn up, the assassin made his way towards the ministers estate unseen. Upon entry, the assassin made made his way upstairs and up towards the ministers office. Knowing that the minister would be on his way back from the ball, the assassin knew that he'd have to wait for the kill.
When entering upstairs, the intruder was met by two guards that were apparently the assigned guards of the estate. With the swift drawing of two daggers from his side, the assassin sprinted towards one of the guards and sliced at his throat with one of the daggers, before then proceeding to launch the dagger at the other one, sending it straight towards his heart. Upon impact, the guard fell back a few feet before colliding with a bookshelf and then falling to the ground, dead. With an emotionless expression on his face, the assassin quickly hid the bodies before then smashing all of the lights in the room save for one that lit up the centre of it. Waiting in the shadows, the assassin stood there quietly. In about a minute or so of waiting, the minister showed up. As the man entered his office, he tried turning on the rest of the lights but to no avail, and simply dismissed it- what the assassin thought was incredibly stupid, but he didn't complain, for it made his job easier.
As the minister made his way over to his desk that was illuminated by the little light that filled the room, the assassin sheathed slowly made his way behind the minister, stealthily, and with making little noise. As he stood behind the man who was sat at his desk, the assassin drew his sword and stabbed through the back of the chair and right through the ministers chest. Before the minister could even react to the assault, the assassin kicked the chair forward and crushed the man between the chair and the table as he then violently pulled his sword out. Blood spewing everywhere, the blade that stabbed him then began to glow and slightly filled the room with an eerie red light. The minister let out an agonising scream as the sword quite literally sucked the life out of him. In mere moments, the minister sat there, face pressed against the table with blood everywhere, dead. His empty husk of a body seemingly becoming an object of the night as the assassin then left the building. Not before carving the night raid symbol into the mans desk of course. After the kill was done, the assassin made his was back to Night Raids base. It would take the man two days to get there as he was travelling by foot. The next day, the bodies of both the minister and the guards were discovered, and word soon spread that Night Raid had attacked and killed Minister Leonard. The killer responsible was soon identified due to the state the minister was left in, his body practically drained of all its life, and reduced to an empty husk of flesh. The empire identified the killing weapon to be Ky?ketsuki: The Vampiric Sword, and it's wielder Rin Shinohara, The Nights Ace and second in command of Night Raid, to be the killer. Both himself and his teigu known to the empire, and feared by them.
Due to the ministers death, some really did start to believe that war was just around the corner, and perhaps they were right?
-Present-
After an incredibly long journey home, Rin finally arrived back at the Night Raid headquarters at around 11 o'clock in the morning whilst the other assassin went about their daily business. Some were just about to embark on contracts of their own. The male was quick to arrive at the office of Anne Solaire, The Calamity Trigger of Night Raid and their leader, in order to explain the run down of his mission although she probably knew about it already. Word spread like wildfire in this day and age, after all.
