Harambe is Love
Chicken Plucker
Jacob Ryder couldn't help but stare up in wonder at the monstrosity that was the Triskelion as he drove down the access road to the infamous building. The secrets that this building housed could probably topple many of the worlds governments several times over. The thought was both nerve-racking and exhilarating at the same time.
Pulling up to the checkpoint, he rolled down the window and pulled out his ID Badge for the guard. "Agent Jacob Ryder, here to see the Director," he said, trying his best to fight down the lump growing in his throat and butterflies dancing in his stomach.
The guard stared at Jacob briefly, taking note of his haphazard appearance. He didn't look like an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the slightest. In matter of fact he looked like he belonged behind the counter of a coffee shop as a barista. Jacob was by no means a scrawny man. But at the same time he definitely did not have a physique capable of selling the story that he was a member of a top secret government agency that literally dealt with aliens and metahumans.
After taking a quick glance at his clipboard, the guard gestured at his partner and raised the barrier. "Take the first right and park your vehicle in the marked garage. Follow the signs to the lobby and someone will direct you from there," the guard muttered as he handed Jacob back the ID Badge. "No detours."
Grabbing his badge and stuttering a quick thank you, Jacob did as the guard instructed and quickly found himself in the lobby. The building was abuzz with activity. Several visibly armed agents walked throughout the lobby with folders containing information of their current assignments. There was a certain tension in the way they walked. As if they were aware of threats that the public would never know of.
Being surrounded by suits and high profile individuals, Jacob felt keenly aware of how severely under dressed he was. A black shirt and grey hoodie with a simple pair of jeans seemed to be too informal for several of the agents in the lobby. They made sure Jacob was aware of their hostility by giving looks of contempt and disapproval.
Stopping by one of the receptionists he placed his ID Badge on the desk. "Agent Jacob Ryder. I have a meeting with Director Fury."
The receptionist gave him the same look as the others and looked at his badge. "Have a seat," she said as she handed back the badge and a visitor pass. "We'll call you up shortly."
As he took a seat in a far corner of the lobby, Jacob pulled out his smartphone and did his best to blend in and go unnoticed.
