Realistic or Modern Age of Vikings (Always Accepting!)

Aron stood idle as Hakon focused his communication on Azura and Magnus during the course of events. He simply glanced down to the beating, not showing any signs of empathy toward the woman. He looked back up to the Earl once again, letting out a soft cough as he broke into the conversation once more. "I offer you this knowledge once more. If you lead your men now, you will have time to face Agnar's on the field of battle.. I will be taking the slaves back with me as I return to my travel.. Will you take him?"

@John Raptorfist @DarknessSpirit @Ruckingdom293

Azura was on the verge of clawing out the Earls throat, her temper was at its peak. Azura felt the air knocked out of her as Magnus brought his shin into her ribs, knocking her to the floor, followed by a heavy stomp on her gut, she did understand it was for the plan though, doesn't mean she wouldn't punch Magnus after this, now she wanted to kill the Earl. She lay on the floor trying to catch her breath, although her leg caused her to almost scream, moving it to much hurt the most.

(I am so sorry for the late replies everyone, I have been feeling sick all week! Please forgive me!!)

Decthalia was pulled inside the Earls place when Aron dragged her and Azura by the wrist. Decthalia felt a huge dark aura around the place as they walked in. Decthalia looked to Azura and saw how irritated she looked, Decthalia wondered why but then she knew it was probably the way the Earl was speaking to Aron and Magnus. When this was all over she was going to 'kill' Aron for pulling her the way he did but she knew it was probably to make the 'act' look real.

As they marched Astrid kept questioning Pierre about his god, it amazed her the stories that came from his mouth, "So, she was not bedded by Joseph.. then how was she with child?" she frowned, "this Mary doesn't seem to be telling the truth.." she didn't believe this Mary lady, mother of Christ.. His savior, could get pregnant without any contract with the man Joseph. She lifted the shield off the ground as she walked, her arm grew sore from carrying such a large object with zero experience.

@The Elusive Shadow

Pierre was again stuck by this woman's line of questioning , she was inquisitive he had to give her that .

"Well , Mary's pregnancy with the sun of God , was a blessing , a miracle which was bestowed upon her due to the kindness that existed in her heart . The bible tells us of a great number of miracles that Jesus performed be it healing the sick, lame, blind or deaf and even raising men from the dead . If God can create the world in all its wonder would it not be possible for him to bestow a blessed child upon the pair ?"

The commanders of the units in the army shouted order's commanding the solders to double time , making Pierre realize that the moment he was waiting for would come soon .

She shrugged, "I would be furious if I woke one day to be with child, and no account of whom or what was the father" she frowned as she spoke, a hand resting on her stomach. The idea of a god creating the world wasn't all unbelievable, for she had grown to believe that their world was created from Ymir by Odin and his brothers, "what did he make the world from?" she tilted her head, the world couldn't just be summoned out of nothng. She felt the shield slipping from her grips, "I am unsure how much longer I can pretend" she sighed, adjusting her grip on the shield, huffing a little as they walked.

Agnar looked at Leiknir as he spoke of Magnus betraying him, Agnar was unsure if Magnus would fight with Earl Hakon against him. He didnt speak but only nodded at Leiknir's request to fight Magnus himself.

ANOTHER TIME SKIP

As the sun started to set, Agnar halted his army less then a mile away from Hagevik, he had recieved word from his scouts the town was guarded by only a few dozen men. He would wait for the uprising to start before sending his men into the village, hopefully suffering as few casualties as possible

@Ruckingdom293 @Kencen

Hakon stared with a bored expression at the woman as Magnus beat her. He sighed, shrugging. "I suppose that passes for discipline where you come from. Let's hope you fight better than that," he said as he stood, turning to one of his advisors. "Rally the soldiers from the town and the country side. We march to Hagevik at first light." It wasn't really important that he beat her, but the swiftness of which he so readily did. If they were friends, or liars, then he would have sniffed it out. Whoever they were, there was no love between the woman and Magnus. It would suffice for now.

He looked back at Aron and Magnus. "Hagevik is unruly. If it means to revolt now then it will surely continue to attempt such treachery. Let Agnar take his town, we have taxed enough grain from the village to last a whole year. When my army reaches the town, we will surround it, and all those who ever dared rise against me will feel my axe," he said coldly.

He then looked at two of his guards and then at Aron, nodding quickly. The two men with axes rushed forward, seizing Aron from behind. Before they could speak he took his own sword out and pointed it at Magnus. "You will fight in my army. But should you try anything dishonest, your friend here will die, and I will take your slaves as my own," he said lecherously, as more guards came and leveled their spears and swords at the group.

He then smiled brightly, "However! If you are truthful, and fight with prowess and honor, then when Hagevik is ours again I will grant you the position of earl over the town, to serve as my friend and vassal, hm?" he said, walking forward and tapping Magnus softly on the cheek.

Inghard approached Agnar, wiping some dirt off his cheeks. "Earl Agnar," he said, giving a soft nod of the head. "I've met with one of my friends. He'd snuck outside the city last night with news. He's told me that once our army appears on the horizon, the citizens will start a fire. The guards will be caught in two directions, and the path to the city will be cleared. They are ready when we are," he said, his voice containing unbridled eagerness. He wanted to fight, he wanted to be home again.

And he could not wait for his revenge.

Magnus simply gave Aron a calm look as the Slav was held a swordpoint. They were telling the truth, so there was no way they'd be able to hurt Aron. "As you wish, my earl." The swede said, politely as possible, dipping his head to the man. "I will these invaders tooth and nail to earn your trust and protect your lands." Magnus said in a rather dignified tone. "So when shall we march?"

@Ruckingdom293

"Good" Agnar replied to Inghard, his voice sincere. He turned to his army "Show no mercy and no one throw their lives away unnecessarily!" He yelled, leading the way forward towards Hagevik, the viking army let out a cheer as they headed towards the village.

It didnt take long for the army to reach the village, appearing atop a hill overlooking Hagevik. Agnar could see that the village was poorly guarded, the bulk of Haron's army was probably at his main earldom. Agnar signalled for the army to halt, waiting for the fire that Inghard told him the villagers would light.

@Ruckingdom293 @Sharkiee @The Elusive Shadow

She stood with Pierre, watching the village from afar, her stomach filling with butterflies. "I'm scared" she whispered to Pierre, who was probably feeling the same. She waited for more movement, she could see Agnar from where she stood, he watched the village, waiting for something, she was unsure what it was he waited for, but she stood with the army, a lump in her throat as she waited with shield and sword held tightly.

Leiknir was grateful for Agnar’s approval, though he still prayed that it would not come to that. Looking down at the village, he noted how easily they could capture it. This will hardly even be a battle, he thought, as he lamented the warriors that would die today. He hoped none of Agnar’s men would die, but he knew that, the gods be willing, they would be feasting in Valhalla were it to happen.

“This is not a raid,” Leiknir said, speaking to the youngest and least experienced of Agnar’s warriors. “Most of the civilians here are on our side. They will be our comrades, our friends, after this conflict is over. Our only targets today are Hakon’s soldiers, and whatever puppet leader he has set up here. Do I make myself clear?” He asked, gravely, as he looked each young man in the eye. After several nods and a few “Yes, sir”s Leiknir grinned, finishing with, “Then let us prepare for battle! May the gods grant us victory!” The young men cheered, pumping themselves up for the battle to come.

Leiknir moved to stand near the Earl then, watching for the fire that would signal the start of their battle.

Azura couldn't stop her anger "Oh Fuck that!" Azura said bluntly and loudly, she looked at the weapons surrounding her. Slave her ass, my god if somebody called her that one more time.. She swore... Azura was completely ready for any move made against her, although it looked completely natural on the outside, safe was poised for any move.

"Magnus, you can't be serious." Decthalia said to him as she gave him a look that would only discourage another. She didn't want to be anyones slave in trade, she was born as a free women and the only reason she ended up like this was so that they didn't kill the children if she tried to hurt the crew members. "I would rather die then to be your slave," Decthalia spoke in her native tongue to the Earl who had ordered his guards to circle around them with spears.

@northguy @John Raptorfist @DarknessSpirit @Ruckingdom293

Hakon's face twisted into utter fury at being addressed in that manner. He turned to Aron. "Who are these bitches who think they have the right to speak to me this way?" He roared.

He looked down at Decthalia. "Why so afraid, slave? You will only serve me if Magnus betrays me..." He hissed. His eyes settled beneath his brow and he cocked his head, looking at Magnus with renewed suspicion. He would have to keep an eye on him. What better place than in his army, close at hand.

"But of course he won't! I will make him an Earl, why would he do such a thing?" he barked with a laugh. "My dears, you will keep your mouths shut or I will have your tongues cut out." He cupped Azura's chin. "You will not need them to service my desires." He said, before letting them go, casting his eyes over to Magnus. "I trust you will find suitable punishments for them," he growled.

Filthy Saxon animals, how dare they speak to him that way.

XXXXXXX

The alarm bells on the town were ringing and Inghard could see men dart around the small ledges atop the wooden palisade. His heart was pounding, nervousness and excitement flowing through him.

He trusted the citizens, but he was still fearful that they would fail.

After time seemed to drag on long enough, more bells were rang, and smoke started to appear on the horizon. Inghard grinned wildly. They had come through for him, his time as Earl was fast approaching.

He wished his father could see him now.

"Why would I be afraid of you, I have nothing to fear from someone like you." Decthalia spitted as she looked him in the eyes with such fiery that the atmosphere became intense. Decthalia was a women who would speak her mind and not care what others thought of her so she wasn't surprised at how he had replied back to her at all. Decthalia wasn't afraid of him, the only man she feared was the man in the sky. "Men like you have no place here on earth," she muttered to him as she watched him take Azura by the chin. @Ruckingdom293 @DarknessSpirit

(Wait @northguy Hakon has forbid them to leave. He's keeping them as hostages. I hope you don't mind, since Magnus will eventually be Earl all will be well in Bersig)

(Oh alright, I'm going to delete that then. Full 180 post inbound)

Azura instantly yanked her chin away, looking disgusted at him for his comment. "Sorry not happening, as dully noted, I don't like you very much either." Azura said bluntly.

The moment the Earl had grabbed Azura's chin, he knew he had to change his plan. And immediately. His hand suddenly reached to Magnus' belt in one swift motion, grabbing the seax he had given him earlier and bringing it down toward Hakon's head with a sudden war cry. Time slowed for him in these moments, he knew if he handled this wrong he would be a dead man in an instanth, though if he was right. If he was right then it was time for him to fight, and he sure as hell did not know if he was ready to return to war. Not yet. These thoughts didn't matter as the knife drilled downward in a small fragment of a second.

@DarknessSpirit @Ruckingdom293 @sprouhtt @John Raptorfist

As soon as Aron grabbed the knife and swing for the Earl, Azura wasted no time at all, taking a guard by surprise, she yanked the spear from his hands and bashed his head in with the end of it, causing him to crumple to the floor. Everything seemed to slow as the knife came towards the head of the Earl, Azura had thrown the spear with accurate aim at another gaurd, everything seemingly springing into action. Adrenaline pumping through her, Azura was acting on instincts, she wouldn't take any chances, at least if Aron failed to kill the Earl the gaurds wouldn't be any trouble.

Decthalia was in shock when she watched everything flash before her eyes. Decthalia took one of the guards who was heading towards her and she kicked him just before he got close enough to her. Decthalia watched as he fell to the ground but got back up on his feet, Decthalia waited for him to charge her and when he did she swung a left hook punch at his face and watched him drop cold on the ground. Aron was stupid for going at the Earl with a knife, from then and there that if the Earl lived through this then they were going to die.

@DarknessSpirit @Ruckingdom293 @northguy @John Raptorfist

Magnus looked on in horror as Aron swiped the knife from his belt, the whole plan was caving in on them. Magnus cursed and grabbed the slav's wrist, preventing him from stabbing the earl. The beautiful seax glittered dangerously in the firelight. "Let go if you know what's best for you." Magnus growled as he tried to wrestle the knife from the man, kneeing him in the stomach. Once again, he felt guilty for doing so, but there was still a small shred of hope for this plan to go through.

@Ruckingdom293 @northguy (just stopping in. Gotta go again!)

Pierre surveyed the village , it was sparsely populated , only a few armored men paroled the village square as it had no walls , this was strange to Pierre was his vision untrue ? was there really no imminent threat that would befall on earl Agnar and his men . Lady Astrid looked very tensed indeed as if she had the worlds burden on her shoulders , she whispered "I'm scarred" . In truth he was scared too but he knew that if he let this be known it would do no good so he simply replied "Do not fear child for the lord is with you" .
