no, you will get an ASI at level 4 then at level 8, and 12, and so one and so forth(as that is how your base class works, every 4 levels), but you ignore any ASI's from classes.

Chuckles Chuckles is correct, your ASI is tied to your character's level (which is tied to the class you chose first). You'll get hella strong faster, but it will mean you don't always get something when you do level.
I got the whole leveling with base class bit.

But when you said getting ASI at four I though you were meaning extra.

Though what about the fighter class? It gets an ASI more often than every 4 levels?

The +2 is from the base class of fighter at 4th level. Which replaces any attribute gain from gunslinger class. As you stated to me earlier.

But you said we ALSO get as a bonus, a feat every 3 levels and ASI every 4 levels.

So even if I did not multiclass, it would still land on the same since fighter gets ASI at level 4.

I said you'd get ASI at the rate of your base class, in your case that would be fighter. BUT now that you have multiclass you must forgo what you would have gotten. so you are still getting a +2 either way. You are getting them more often, but that also means that many of the levels you do get in fighter will not give you anything.

Here's another way to look at it... if your character's level is even, then you get a +2 ASI along with what ever NON-ASI rewards you get depending on what class you leveled, even if it isn't your base class.

Say you have 2 levels in fighter and 2 in gunslinger... you get 2 levels and put them in gunslinger, now your character level is 6 and you get an ASI. because as a fighter as your base class, you get an ASI every even numbered level.

yeah, it changes the curve and you end up with some plateaus for multiclass.

It definitely favors single class characters over the long run, but part of multiclassing has always been managing where the plateaus fall so it it what it is.

edit: removed conflating information.

So you might need to spell it out specifically when I get ASI. Given that I got 2 levels in fighter and going to go straight gunslinger now.

you could probably get individual help over PMs when you need to level. pretty sure you're the only one who gets extra things based on the level thing.. although even I'm not exactly clear on the process but I attribute that to me being still green when it comes to D&D in general xD

For you, you'd get stat increases every 4 levels, so character level 4, 8, 12, 16, ect. as for feats, every 3 levels... so 3, 6, 9, 12, ect. and yes, this does mean it's possible to get BOTH an ASI AND a feat at the same time.

Think of it this way... add your class levels together every time you get levels... if it's even, then you get an ASI, if it's not then you don't :)

18, not not 19. Remember, not level cap for this campaign :)
and you forgot the 14 for the rogue

I’ll slap that in a chart (with the update on the late level ASI) and stick it in the character page for reference so we don’t have to go back and find it down the road if anyone gets confused again.

kinda mad I didn’t chose fighter first... 😂

but hey, its always good for casters to be proficient in Wis saves, and the fluff is important.
well, the rogue/future warlock is still very squishy. Pretty sure even the midget could shank him to death multiple times lol

Psychie's been real busy, but told me that she will post soon. Just so everyone knows.
