I said I cast Flaming Hands but rolled the Ascended ability. Does that mean I still used a spell slot or is the Ascended ability a separate thing?

You have, it will be a while before you get spell slots from ascended (IF that's the route you wish to go)

What kind of changes? Like your stats and HP? because you do get an ASI and an HP boost for being level 4... and what about your 3rd level feat? have you decided on anything?

No, no. Stats and all that will stay the same. I'm thinking making her just regular half and maybe change her name and slight changes to her backstory. I don't know, I just am feeling this major disconnect so I wonder if I did something fresh it might help put my head back in the game.

You never know, Animals DID get a lot of buffs in this campaign (primarily the dinosaurs and fantasy creatures)

Animal Handler ** is a plus 1 Wis + proficiency in Animal Handling (which stacks if you are already proficient to gain expertise) + a light version of the Ranger Beast Master companion.

Considering the character is already a beast master ranger I'm not sure how often that last feature will ever be needed. I guess equusheart is very afraid that the dm will make animals have super high dcs for taming and will need that boost.
