If playing as a unicorn or a pegasus means coosing your class in MLP DND is alicorn ascension just multiclassing? - Dino Pensador | Meme Generator

At this point, I'm mainly just curious to see whether any characters will live long enough to get a turn, since I'll assume the Hell Knight's initiative bonuses are similarly high as their to-hit ones.

I’m sorry guys. After thinking it over and sleeping on it I’ve decided to drop from this RP.

Its clear there are a lot of arbitrary mechanics changes that I’m not going to be bothered to keep up with. Attacks of opportunity happen outside of combat now? an unlimited amount of times so long as multiple characters move past you? also if someone runs away (and then even if they weren't within melee range to begin with) but only with ranged or spell attacks?? After getting a first class (and multiple levels) it’s revealed that leveling works different and ASI is directly tied to your original class? That kind of information makes a HUGE difference when picking a class. Since none of this was laid out before hand it just feels like the DM is doing whatever he wants and changing the mechanics to suit. IM the one who bothered to clarify the ASI/Feat leveling thing and put it in a post that was somewhat easy to reference for goodness sake.

Also the fact that hours after people (me, specifically) explained that its kind of rude to advance the story without waiting for all the players to respond to events my character was killed AFTER I WAS ASKED OOC TO CLARIFY MY CHARACTERS ACTIONS and BEFORE I DID SO.

I’m sorry but I joined this expecting a D&D game in a cool setting with some cool added mechanics (fears and sanity), in a format I could actually commit to. Clearly that wasn’t the case. I was really looking forward to playing Hipsek with everyone as he’s been in my back pocket as something I wanted to involve in a story for a long time so it really saddens me to do this, but I won’t be progressing any further.

Good luck.

Didn't the rp interest check thingy clearly say homebrew?
I can't really argue with anything Chuckles said. He's right. There is homebrew then there is making it up as one goes along. Which I don't mind, so long as there is some degree of consistency. Even homebrew games have rules. And it is hard to function in one without knowing them, and hard to progress without being able to trust they won't change. Think the difference between Dark Souls and Unfair Mario.

That said, I am willing to at least see if this first part pays off and everything becomes much more clear and consistent.

The only thing that makes sense to me out of that is Dark Souls.
I guess I don't really kno how dice stuff works or why rules are such a big deal but I feel like maybe we haven't really let very much play out :T

Was it the dying part that has everyone's panties in a bunch?
I kinda thought that was just like a scripted encounter. So the who's, how's and what's don't really matter.

It's been clear to me that we all die a a plot device. That's always tricky to pull off. PCs want to look cool. Hard to do when you all die as we see that as failing. But TyranntX TyranntX was up front about it.
I think Tyrannt is also trying to reveal some of the cool homebrew stuff a little at a time. I may have more insight to that since we had to work a bit in PM to come up with my homebrew character. But this is also tricky to do.

To Chuckles Chuckles point - this isn't an open book game in regard to its homebrew rules. As I often say to people running LARPs or other DMs - players play different games. Even if they're sitting at the same table. So if you're a by the book player, or at least want to know all the homebrew rules up front, this game could be frustrating.

That said - my character, that I really enjoy playing, got completely zorched by a plot device. I'm hanging out for the rest of you to hurry up and die so I can see what's next!

Chuckles Chuckles , I am sorry to see you go. but I did say this is a homebrew campaign, and there will be special features unique to it. We just need to get a few things out of the way first (and thanks to D. Rex D. Rex we will reach chapter 2 early and see one of said mechanics in use (though you technically have already seen it in action). so dr xenon dr xenon is correct about holding on to something REAL special.

Like taking attacks of opportunity outside of combat, that's something Creatures like Rotta can do because of how immensely powerful they are, players will be able to do similar skills later on... but only if they meet special requirements.

If you still wish to go that's fine, but I at least urge you to stay for a little bit longer for chapter 2 (as that's when the campaign gets dialed up to 13). I'll give you to the end of the day (my time) to think it over... If your answer is the same I'll remove you from the roster.

It is, this is the scripted death of the party. You were meant to die by Rotta's hand (though there were ways around it that would have lead to a different ending... you were just locked out of it since you continued on the path given to you). For example, there's an option to go INSIDE of Iron Tower instead of use it to warp, the adventure would have taken a MUCH bigger turn if you did that. You could have also ignored the telepathic message, and just write it off as some dream. Many different choices you could have made that might have strayed you off the campaign, you wouldn't so much as derailed it then as you would just be leading to a different ending .

I should have been more diplomatic in my explanation for deciding to drop*, especially the mechanics point:

yes, it was tagged as homebrew, I mistakenly assumed that referred to the fear and sanity mechanics along with the campaign setting, and then the leveling was determined to be different and while unexpected it was easy enough to deal with.

I’m not mad that mechanically this how TyranntX TyranntX wants to run his game, it’s his campaign and world and he has every right to run it as he sees fit. On that front it really is just me realizing it might be more mechanically different than I care to deal with. That fault falls on me for misunderstanding the context of “home brewed” the interest check. It’s a little hard to explain but I enjoy D&D style roleplaying differently than I do strictly narrative role playing (I can not stress this enough: I’m fine with the narrative of what’s happening, this is NOT about the TPK or the level of power the enemies have or anything like that at all.)

As for IC progression vs OOC time, I was upset but I’m sure came off as more upset than necessary. I’m sure as the story progresses that will slow down and sort itself out and obviously I’m aware that sometimes things progress unintentionally fast IC.

This isn’t really a good excuse but over the weekend I had some last minute stuff put on my plate irl that caused me to be a little overly stressed last night into this morning. I shouldn’t have made any decision in that state of mind and I DEFINITELY should have messaged TyranntX TyranntX and explained my reservations instead of making a public post (I went to bed intending to do just that and let the story progress through the current events like he has stressed). In my stressed out state I failed to do that. I apologize.

So long as TyranntX and everybody is fine with it, I’ll stick around and see how the story progresses, because I honestly do think this story and campaign setting is REALLY COOL and I have really enjoyed what he has built and everyone’s characters so far.

Again, sorry for being dramatic, it’s not normal from me, like I said just an unexpected amount of irl stress this weekend!

yeah, I guess the best way to really describe it is I enjoy the mechanics of D&D, so its been a little bit of a system shock as things are revealed to be pretty drastically different in some cases.

I probably just need to reset my expectations a bit and I should be fine.

Glad to see you'll stick around. I was looking forward to Hopsek Hijinks!
