Fantasy Aether: The Age of Light OOC [being rebooted]

what's funny is a lot of suggestions yall are making are ones i've already been thinking of lol. but the glyphs on herself(aurora) sounds about right. why? because it is something that is unexpected of her character. and having that trait is how you write a good character. yeah, the audience would find out about what the ritual requires but just imagine how surprised any of the other characters (namely other clerics) would be if or when they find out.

but on the sacrifices thing. I was initially thinking that Aurora would make the sacrifice on the full moon (to me the "when" was a given). Kill the person to offer their soul to the goddess. I mean, it's been done many times already and this suggestion was even mentioned on a website that had a "random ritual generator" lol.

Basically, i want to show how intense Aurora can be. That she doesn't share that typical persona healer characters normally do. And emphasis the fact that she is willing to do whatever needs to be done for the greater good. That's pretty much the type of character Aurora started out for me and that's how she's playing out. And I also wanted to add to the whole "the church or the people of the church aren't all they seem to be behind closed doors". this is what's going through my mind atm anyway :P

No human sacrifices please thanks haha

i was only saying that's what i was initially thinking lol. her killing people would be kinda a generic troupe in on itself. so i was glad the glyph thing was brought up cause it sounds like a good one. it was either that or animal sacrifices. cause i got a ton of those on that generator. reading the entrails in the moon or something like that. but I don't want to show Aurora is the one that does killing. She is definitely willing to have someone killed if they declare blasphemy against the church and/or its gods. but unless she's really pushed to do so, she won't bloody her own hands.

But like i said earlier, everything I'm basing my decisions on is how her character is now. That is (i hope) bound to change as character interactions and story progression happens. And there are people that can influence her more than others. right now she's, kind of, a firecracker with a short fuse. but that can change over the course of the story.

I'll PM you in a little bit.

i'm heading off to bed since it's 4am. i think the exhausted me is rambling a bit much lol. i'll check the PMs and reply when i wake back up and am not running on fumes.

Could do it that the player has to offer an item they got during the Chapter
That'd work. I was saying personal significance so that the characters could expand on their backstories using the item. Of course, I'd say that items of importance to others, or brand new could work too, but newly aquired item could be effective as well, depending on what they are.

I mean, it just doesn't sound right. Like trying to fit Aztec sacrifices into Wicca. The two ideas of the church of light and death sacrifice don't mesh well. Like I said before Urkel Myrkul would fit better woth the whole "wanting blood" thing cause he's the god of death. It's his thing. But what would a god of knowledge want with blood and murder? With Zanza, blood and murder would go against his aspect, what with him being a god of creation. The only good gods I could see maybe accepting blood and death sacrifices are Bahumet, though he's less the murderous fighter and more the protective warrior, and maybe Ehlonna, though I'd assume the blood would be animal blood at the worst.

Yes!

Damn did I miss all the discussion about blood rituals? I didn't know we were bringing Khorne into this!

Skulls for the Skull Throne <3

Edit: Pai Chan Pai Chan It seems like Aurora has the potential to create a break off cult of the church if that's how she believes the gods would be appeased, course like Dal said none of them besides the Warrior god would be at all interested in it, much less pleased. Course if she started unintentionally serving Myrkul... ;3:

And like I said before, Bahumet seems less like the angry war god, and more like the stoic defender god. Less open combat, and more about protecting those you care about. So blood probably wouldn't make him all to happy.

Only god I think would accept some sort of blood or death offering besides Urkel Myrkul who would be Ehlonna, but she'd probably want, say, the choicest pieces of a freshly caught deer, or the body of a wolf, something animal related. Besides that, I'd think she'd accept certain plants and some creations as sacrifices as well, like the wolf pelt shirt that kept you alive last winter, or the bone knife your father gave you, like Zanza but more primal.

Or maybe the lumen elves don't have to give sacrifices to Ehlonna at all, with the goddess considering their living and caring for the forest as their sacrifice. Like I said before, gods tend to be rather esoteric and metaphor heavy, so I'd say that most would like something of a personification of them as a sacrifice in order to obtain their power.

Of course, mages wouldn't be the only one's sacrificing things, with artists giving their best pieces to Zanza, Warriors giving their favorite gear to Bahumet, and Scholars giving their most informative tomes to Avandra. It's just that Mages'd be the only ones who would get something somewhat tangible out of the sacrifice.

I personally prefer the phase 2 part of that song myself. That violin is awesome.

That song was made for a fight in the desert, not the forest. I guess if you didn't know that, it might still fit.

i listen to a ton of orchestral and instrumental pieces. I can find music to pretty much fit any scenario. including those "epic" pieces. oh and where's the PM i was promised?X)
