Tonight's my last night of work for two days, so hopefully I can summon the energy to make a post. Of course, it won't be that hard to make a post once we get the ball rolling.

If Lynn's able to go on the Hollowvale expedition, then I'll sign her up for that.

I had an idea involving Markku, Arryn, and Lucina and/or Ulfric. What if one of the children in the slums told Arryn about Markku's lightning threat? Arryn would find Lucina or Ulfric at the wedding and let them know what's going on. Markku would have to deal both with Dain's Organization and the church's authority. He might seek retribution against Arryn for informing on him or play politics by somehow setting the organization and the church against one another and use the ensuing chaos to his advantage somehow. Or both.
Just an idea that might bear some interesting fruit down the line, but it also might be too close to chapter one to start it with all the other stuff on the horizon. Let me know if it seems like something worth pursuing.

What arm of the law deals with mages who abuse their powers? Arryn would probably find the fact that the church doesn't care about a mage using his abilities to threaten beggars pretty abhorrant considering they're the ones who train the mages in the first place.
I mean, I guess I'm fine with it. The wording of your statement has me a little worried for the Organization, but it should be fine.Dalamus Ulom
I have a quest in mind that might involve the Organization - that'll show how cray strong Ulfric is, but it might be a bit later on in Chapter 1.

I don't think Markku has done anything yet that would warrant any such response from the Church. Lucina would politely listen no doubt, Ulfric wouldn't care. Unless he did something particularly villainous, but he seems more invested in just research and not being hassled.

I'm not suggesting they arrest him or anything. A stern warning and an effort on the church's part to keep a closer eye on him is more what I had in mind.
I find the idea that the Church doesn't even try to regulate the people they train rather odd, but I guess they do have more important matters to attend to. Like being paranoid about heretics in their theocracy that isn't a theocracy, or murdering people for trying to go into areas that'd get them killed. They're not going to be especially receptive while they're both busy handling the Wedding and juggling a dozen different concerns, which is why the best he can hope for is Lucy saying she'll look into it. She's probably gonna have people approaching her from every angle for hours about all kinds of crazy nonsense.
If he wanted to formally file a complaint after the wedding, it would be taken under more serious consideration.
I like the idea, could lead to the Spectacular Backalley Adventures of Dain and Arryn. If you don't want me to pursue it, then I won't; however, even if they don't listen to him, I think I want Arryn to talk to one of them about it anyway as long as it doesn't interfere with any of your plans to have him do so.
Gives him a reason to interact with the church officials, potentially Markku later on, a potential matter he and Dain can cooperate about later, something he and Dominicanes can agree on, and something he and Aurora could conflict over. It might come to nothing, but I feel it could have potential for more interactions later as well. Gotta plant those seeds while I can and see if they sprout later on.
not really saying muchAlcamoth is considerably more advanced than your average middle ages city.

But threatning little kids by launching a shit ton of lightning near them? I'd expect them to at least give him a minor slap on the wrist or something.Well you have to understand, Mages have the spark of the divine. They're chosen by the Gods, so the Church is usually content for Mages to do their own thing if they desire it, as they have powers for a reason and the rituals they have to perform mellow them out sooner or later.
Most work for the Church in some capacity or another though.
Now I'm even more worried. The Organization isn't doing anything illega- I mean, anything immora- I mean, anything down right evil.Nah, not with this one.

I know, I'm just joking around. I've been wanting to type that for some time now haha.Real Talk, if the Organization was ever gonna take a hit I'd warn you way in advance.
MagicPenguin If you wanted to have Arryn pursue the issue, I wouldn't mind. In fact, I would love to see how Markku reacts if he ever found out who was getting into his personal business.
Dalamus Ulom It wasn't a "shit ton" (it was lightning though) if it had struck those kids directly, the worst it would have done was singe a few hairs (cause a few third degree burns), and cause a little brain damage (loss of a few cognitive or mechanical functions) or heart arrhythmia (hard reboot actually) or both. Nothing major (would leave these kids raving idiots or frail invalids), really (not really).
FYI this is how the inside of my brain is sometimes. The parentheses is the annoying (ever-supportive) input of one of my "personality shards" (organized by colors and intensities).
What was the Nightmare Quest, again? The Nightmare Quest would probably fit Markku, if you want a lead on Chapter 1.

Yas I am definitely interested. I want to know whatever the hell it is he's looking after, and I could probably get a favorable response if I pitched teh idea to Markku with a spin that he might get a pet out of the deal.I didn't say, but it begins with Old Man Davey and whatever it is exactly he's been dealing with.
