Fantasy Aether: The Age of Light OOC [being rebooted]

I had an idea for my character, but I haven't had time to write it out yet - or to reply here at all, clearly. This weekend would probably be the earliest I could hope to post it.

May I get a progress update on who is doing what right now?
Abendrot Abendrot - Haven't heard from you since your character was accepted, you still interested?
@FireMaiden - Have you thoughts about how you'd like to start?
@Larry / @The_Omega_Effect - What's the plan with the Cleric-Crew? I have something for you if you're interested.
Saurosian Saurosian - How's the character going?

I think I know about everyone else right now. <3
Doesn't look like I can take part anymore. Sorry about that.

I'll try and post Lynn's next part when my fever cools down. Sorry, feeling a bit ill right now, haha. That's why I haven't really been active for the past few days. I'll be sure to get something up before the weekend ends, though.

Omg feel better! >_<

I want to say "everything", but I'm really interested in magic, specifically magic before the Cinders.

Almost everyone was super human and had some sort of magical ability. They didn't require links to Spirits and mana was a natural and abundant resource.

OK I was bit facetious and all-encompassing. My main concern, and that of Markku's, is finding out how magic was before the War, exactly what caused the monumental reduction in free magic, and how to start Aether on the road to recovery back towards its former thaumaturgical glory, even if reaching it is physically impossible.

Well you've obviously gotta find out as we go along. I'm certain there'll be an expedition to, say, an ancient ruin that was once the home to an enclave of mages, who wrote down how one could possibly restore Aether's ambient mana. Or something like that.

Whatever happened, it was during the war. Basically Mages are

True restoration is impossible, some things simply can't be replaced or rebuilt. At this point, it's mostly damage control to stop anything else being lost.

Old "true" magic still very much exists however. In dark corners of the world.

Oh, it's kinda like Tolkien's Middle-Earth. After a certain point, everything Magic and magical sorta just leaves or dies, and technology ends up taking over.
