Dresses dirty casual most of the time. - Selfless
Undoubtedly the most important facet of Kuro's personality is his devotion to the many and not the self. He sees himself as a servant to the world, somewhat insignificant in the grand scheme of things. If there are things he must sacrifice to further the greater good, then by God, he will sacrifice it without the slightest of hesitations. Of course, this doesn't mean he lacks individuality, he just knows when to put it aside to make things work.
Determined
Something of a recent development, Kuro has been a deeply motivated person since after he graduated from high school. He does not exactly know what he is driven by, but it is driving him to become the best at what he does, that he could become the best person he could be for himself and for his fellow humans. The fire may falter in dark times, but it is still there. The unflinching, undying determination.
Absent-Minded
Kuro is prone to daydreaming and dozing off. Often, this leads to clumsy happenings on his part and sometimes, it can happen in the worst of times. Like when he's healing someone.
Inferiority Complex
Perhaps stemming from his affluent selflessness, Kuro has major confidence issues. There are times when he feels too insignificant and inferior and it eats him up inside. As if there's a voice whispering inside his mind, "No you can't. You're less than everyone. What can you do?" In the past, his parents have provided him much mental support and provided for visits to a therapist, but now that he is living alone, it is starting to come back. With a vengeance.
History
Kuroky Mehran was born right here in Baltimore, the only child of a working class family that emigrated from Germany. His father, the origin of his Persian blood, worked in a number of different jobs in his time, from taxi driver to accountant, to put food on his family's table, but in the future would situate to a more stable job of a police officer. His mother mostly stayed at home, helping financially as an amateur journalist. From her, his lineage was linked to the infamous Desert Fox, Erwin Rommel. Kuro spent his childhood rather oblivious of the pitiful state of his family. Brought up as a Muslim, he was told to be ever gracious and thankful to Allah for the blessings that came to them each coming day.
The existence of his powers were only diagnosed quite late into his childhood and early into his adolescence. By the time Kuro graduated middle school, he was reasonably acquainted with his restoration ability, which were plenty helpful in his day-to-day life. Unfortunately, it was also at this point that he entered a dread rebellious self-searching phase. Though acting all goody-two-shoes and pious in front of his parents, in this time Kuro began to doubt his religious teachings, among other things. He grew more cynical with the world, but still self-conscious enough to have the desire to change for the better. To that end, he decided to delve into the complicated field that was romance. There was a boy in his school, Andrew was his name. Kuro found himself to be interested in him and that led to dating.
Looking back, it would've been better if he had been interested in someone not darker and edgier than he was at the time.
But they were a match. They were clearly compatible as a couple and he was kind enough to keep their relationship a secret from everyone, especially Kuro's parents. The two dated for two years until Kuro's father indirectly 'stopped the love'. As he was in his last year of high school, his father decided it was necessary to give his son a talking to about the future. He urged him to be the best person he could, anywhere and everywhere he went, and to think hard about what he chose to be in life, as what he found to be right today might be a thing to regret tomorrow. This was his moment of clarity, his way back onto the right track. When Kuro graduated, he talked things over with Andrew and they agreed that it would be better for them both to end their relationship and start anew in their respective paths. For the first time in a long time, he felt hopeful for the future.
Kuroky was fortunate enough to enroll at a community college, but after a few semesters there, he felt that confining himself to university life might be a waste. Reflecting on himself, he wondered if he could be of use to society in a direct manner. He remembered the presence of a Facility where people with powers studied and applied for Blue Cards to become vigilantes. Maybe he could go there. And he did. With only giving his parents the vaguest of warnings ("Hi, Mom and Dad. I'm dropping out. Bye, Mom and Dad"), Kuroky made his way to Facility 108. And it was the best decision he ever made. - Morad Mehran - Father
The person he looks up to the most, for it was he who made him who he is now. Since he is busy, he does not make contact with his son as much as his wife does.
Joanna Rommel - Mother
A supporting figure to Kuro, a source of warmth and compassion. Keeps well in touch with her son to make sure he's okay.
Erwin Rommel - Ancestor from his mother's side.
He's a bit scared that people might look at his last name and instantly associate it with the Third Reich even after all this time, but Kuro also happens to like the sound of the name Rommel, so it sticks.
'Andrew' - Ex-boyfriend
The two were so close back in the day, but now they've completely lost contact. For the better, it seems. Personally, Kuro hopes he never has to see him again, for the resulting situation would be awkward. - Restoration
Kuroky possesses the ability to restore things to their previous state. In practice, there are plenty of different applications for this power. Particularly, he is able to mend even the gravest of wounds in someone's body, provided this someone still has some life in them. He can also repair anything broken to an almost flawless degree and even revert complex compounds into their raw components (this is a feat he has yet to have much training in).
- Reshaping: Sometimes, he really needs to make something else from something. With a lot of concentration and by using pieces of a broken object, Kuro can alter the process of his powers and remake the object into something that does not necessarily fit its original state. For example, from pieces of broken glass, he can create, say, a small sword. The reshaped object must not exceed the proportions of what it was originally, however.
Limitations
- Not for Himself: It is imperative that he does not get hurt, for Kuro is unable to heal himself with his own powers. Should he be critically injured, he must resort to external medication and cannot rely on his restoration ability.
- Focus!: Kuro's power relies on concentration. A lapse in focus can mean the difference between a perfectly restored and a horribly botched object. Thus, he must ideally use his powers when he is at an utmost calm and not in a tense situation. Theoretically, however, he can develop a higher sense of clarity as he ages and is sent on more intense incursions and situations.
- Unkind Rewind: Kuro's abilities may be considered a sort of time manipulation. Recently broken objects, he can restore, no problem, but something even older than he is? A shattered artifact spanning hundreds of years? That requires a massive amount of work on his part and, frankly, he'd rather not waste the energy attempting it.
- You Think You Can Play Lazarus?: This is important. Kuro cannot restore life. When faced with a corpse, the least he can do is make it whole and presentable again.
- A list of non-superpower (mundane) skills and flaws that your character has. Mundane skills include knowledge such as first-aid training, cooking, paleontology, etc. Mundane flaws include physical disabilities, or expanded information on negative personality traits such as gullibility, clumsiness, vanity, etc.
Keep in mind that your character's superpowers might affect some of their normal skills, for example, we all expect hyper-intelligent supers to have more knowledge-related skills in this list than the average character. However, these skills and flaws should all be things that your character could lose their powers, and still retain.
All characters should have at least two skills and two flaws.
