The heat of the summer day fell across the land that a rather confused, yet awed girl knew as the land of Ooo. The heat of midday was unbearable, but the wandering traveller knew how to handle herself well. Shungila found herself in a vast expanse of green, rolling hills that gave her no cover from the blistering heat of the sun. Panting, Shungila had reached the peak of yet another hill, and shielded her eyes with a wrapped arm as she looked out into the vast landscape. One could see for miles on a clear day such as this. She took in the breathtaking scenery while she scanned the area for any strange signs of activity or movement. Someone always seemed to be looking for her, so she had to be careful. Seeing that the coast was clear, she continued onwards as she ventured forth to absolutely nowhere in particular. She stopped only once to witness a small sentient gecko creature stand on his hind legs and walk around in that position as long as he could, but that moment was short-lived.

As she continued on her way, she eventually reached a long treeline that spanned a long way from left to right. The forest beyond seemed rather dense, but that didn't stop her from obliviously stepping into it, almost without a second thought. She honestly didn't care about where she was going, only that she was going somewhere. Anywhere where there were no people, that was where she was going. She found a few pieces of junk, past a broken fuel tank, and found a sweet looking enchanted sword, but she didn't encounter much after that. She rounded another bend when she heard a noise that startled her. She heard a loud howl of some sort, soon followed by many more. She turned around after hearing the noise all around her, the sound invading her ears. She knew all too well what this meant. Drawing a dagger from her belt, she listened for sudden movements as she took a fighting stance. These animals found her in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

She was in her element.

Wondering around the fields was something Rays did often. I guess the years of living had made his time grow boring. He licked his lips slightly as he started to feel hunger edge at him, but not just for normal pizza and soda, no, Rays needed something with feeling. He continued along his path, not sure quite where he would be guided, hopefully somewhere with a living soul. Doesn't even have to be a living soul, he just prefers those. Anything with emotions would do him. Rays yawned as he flipped his hair from out of his eyes and noticed a small house. Not only was their a house, but he also heard commotions from the treeline farther away.

This was his time to choose. He could either venture for a, probably, easy meal with in that quaint, little house or he could go for a little excersise and try for a more challenging meal. To bad he couldn't just have both,though he did consider the possibilities. Rays did like his meals slightly afraid, but relieved, yet, he was slightly exhausted and didn't know if he wanted to work for his meal at the moment. After a few moments of aimless wondering, Rays decided that the sound in the forest would vanish, but the house would remain, so perhaps he could have both.

Taking his sweet time, he started towards the forest in search of his next meal. Hopefully, what ever it was, was at least decent looking. He had had his fair share of not appetizing meals, but he did try to avoid those circumstances the best he could. Finally managing to make it to the treeline, his prey was that of a natural beauty, if he had to judge. She was a female, strong-willed (meaning his meal would be a hard one) and in the middle of a fight that she seemed all too keen to be in. Taking in the scene, he decided he would let the girl have her fight since satisfied prey also left him satisfied.

After a few moments of prolonged silence, Shungila heard fast, yet heavy footfall headed in her direction. Feeling the threat close in on her, the color of her remaining eye changed to It's preference. The whites and the iris turned a dark black, while her pupil took on a bright white color that seemed to glow compared to the blackness that surrounded it. She heard a gunshot not far from her position, but that did not concern her at the moment. She waited for the first animal to appear, noting that they were reluctant to do so. Were they trying to flank her? If so, these animals were smarter than she had previously thought. After taking their sweet time, the first animal appeared. It looked like a kind of dogbeast, which she had fought many times before. The hulking monster that stood before her let out a chortled snarl. This proved the beast indeed had some form of intellect.

She heard another set of clawed paws beat on the ground, and she assumed it was another dogbeast that had taken position behind her. Even then, she knew that there were more than two of these things. She absentmindedly licked her lips, feeling a sudden jolt of adrenaline course through her body. It was only too happy to provide help for her in this situation, as she felt her body within shift and change at a much slower rate compared to the usual. This wasn't a surprise to her, as It usually did this for a chance at having a long awaited meal. She pulled her fox hood off to reveal her face, of which began to show signs of decay along with a set of horns that had slowly begun to grow in just above the ears. The dogbeast that faced her let out an unnatural howl before charging straight for her, the other behind her doing the same.

She waited for the right moment, before strafing to the right and slashing the first beast in its side.

"You must marry, your highness."

An elderly Crystal Guardian spoke, his blue skin frail and eyes wise. The Crystal Queen listened from the window, her hands pressed against the sleek windowpane and her eyes watching the crystallized kingdom below. The council room was silent as the Crystal Guardians allowed Selene to dwell in her thoughts for a few moments. She closed her eyes, and let out a deep, quiet sigh. The elder of the Crystal Guardians, Hunsen the Wise, removed himself from the council's table and waddled towards her. His sapphire cane smacked against the cold floor with each step. Outstretching his wrinkled hand, the Guardian placed it gently onto her shoulder.

"It is time, Selene. This kingdom needs a king..."

He murmured, his voice hoarse and shaky. Selene slowly opened her eyes, and glanced towards him. The two were silent, as if they were exchanging thoughts sworn to secrecy. And than, the Queen nodded. Hunsen smiled warmly towards her, and removed his hand from her shoulder.

"We will send letters to the kingdoms at once, your grace."

Crystal Quentin, Selene's royal adviser and knight, said from beside the closed doorway in which he was guarding. The Queen fully faced everyone now, giving a slight nod towards the knight. She was silent once more, until she finally spoke.

"Than the decision is final. I will be wed to a royal suitor from one of the many kingdoms. I personally request each suitor be evaluated thoroughly. The last thing this kingdom needs is another insane queen who has a demon as her husband." Her voice was laced with maturity and softness. Each Crystal Guardian nodded in agreement.

She motioned upwards with her hand. They all rose from their chairs in sync, waiting. She bowed her head in gratitude and smiled a small smile.

"You are all free to leave now." Selene murmured, clasping her hands together. The doors to the council room opened with a push of Crystal Quentin's hand, and one by one, the five elders left. The doors swung closed with a loud thud, leaving the knight and Selene alone. She found herself once again staring back out the window, watching her kingdom with a troubled gaze. Crystal Quentin guarded silently, leaving the queen to her thoughts.

A day later, Crystal Knights and every messenger in the Crystal Kingdom set out on their journeys to far away kingdoms and beyond. Letters were delivered every hour of the day to princes and capable suitors.

The letter read:

To the royal families of Ooo,

The Crystal Kingdom personally invites your son or daughter to attend a ball thrown by the Crystal Queen herself, Selene Crystalline. Our Queen is in search of a suitor fit to rule beside her, and welcomes all royal families to the castle in a fortnight. All suitors must be evaluated for security, due to past incidents. Please bring a copy of your invitation as validation.

We await you in the Crystal Kingdom.

Sincerely,

However, at the end of the day when night began to fall and the moon rose into the sky, not every knight returned. Immediately, security was tight in the Crystal Kingdom, with a knight guarding every entrance way. Selene waited in the throne room, knowing that somewhere, something or someone possessed one of her letters, and was brewing evil in their chambers.

Kijiro

Just waking up from his sleep Kijiro woke up in his treehouse that belonged to his parents to see a letter had been left under his door. "From the princess maybe?" he thought jumping off his bed and sliding down some vines he landed and picked up the letter. "Blah blah blah suitors blah blah blah marriage blah blah-" he paused. "Wait? MARRIAGE?!" he thought shocked. "Wh-what is this" he said re-reading the letter it said to suitors of royal family. "Royals? I'm not even sure if I am royal well maybe Mom and Dad were" he muttered turning to look back at some of the gold left on the floor from the adventures they'd had in the past. "Should I even go to this?" he thought, "Obviously the mail man needs to be real better job when delivering mail but still?" walking around the main ground he couldn't stop wondering if he should go or not. After a couple minutes he said. "Eh why not? There may be something interesting to check out there" he stated while climbing up to his room he put on a his favorite shirt and his caped coat. "To the Crystal Kingdom I go!" he stated running by his inventory storage and grabbing his two swords Kagu and Jitsu he leaps out from the window grabbing one the tree vines and slides down to the ground before running off in the direction of Ooo. "I should probably get a ride there first" he thought

Renne

Flying had always been his favorite way to travel. Renne relished the feeling of the wind burning his cheeks. He took a deep breath in and let it out slowly before floating to the ground. Visiting Bonnibel hadn't been something he was looking forward to, but the pink princess said she'd needed a favor, and Renne wasn't one to leave debts unpaid. As he reached for the door, Peppermint Butler walked outside, running directly into Renne.

"Oh my! My apologies Renne! I was actually just looking for you!" Peppermint Butler quickly offered a simple bow in greeting.

”It's alright P-Buts, what's going on?" Renne's voice was low and soft.

"Well, the princess was going to tell you in person, but she is in the middle of a very delicate experiment. In fact, she could be occupied for quite some time. She was hoping you would accept a royal invitation in her stead." he explained hesitantly, knowing how Renne would feel about it.

"Aw come on! A
royal invitation? That's why she asked me instead of someone else right?" Renne fumed, "I'm counting this as a double favor, she owes me for this!"

Peppermint Butler sighed, "Princess Bubblegum knew you'd say that. Fine, take the invitation and please don't let the princess down." Renne grumpily snatched the invitation and took off into the air

Kijiro

Running through the streets of Ooo Kijiro was almost to the castle when he saw someone talking to "Mints" as he liked to call Peppermint Butler. "An invitation from the princess" he thought. "I wonder why I didn't get one?" he said slightly disappointed "Oh well I've got an invitation to attend to but maybe I could take a detour and accompany that guy" he said watching Renne fly over head. Deciding to follow him as he took of Kijiro kept close to Renne's shadow careful not to lose him, he was interested in where exactly the PB had invited the vampire to. He smiled at the thought of a possible dungeon or some kind of unexpected adventure occurring or something along those lines. "Can't wait to see what's in store for me" he said excitedly.

Renne

Grumbling under his breath, Renne looked over the invitation.

A ball huh? Guess I need to find some better duds. Held in the Crystal Kingdom by the Crystal Queen? Okay some WAY better duds! And the queen is looking for a sui-

Renne halted mid-flight. "IT'S SO THE CRYSTAL QUEEN CAN CHOOSE A SUITOR?! BONNIBEL! UGH!" He griped and drifted down to lie in the grass with his hands over his eyes. "So I guess I need to find a gift too. What do you even give a crystal queen to win her, uh, affection? I guess?"

Renne sighed and reached for a red flower. He plucked it, brought it to his fangs, and drained the color from it. Just as he started to relax he felt someone watching him. The vampire prince bolted upright and hissed in the direction of his voyuer.

Kijiro

Hearing what Renne had said he stopped slightly revealing his presence he heard the hiss. Walking out from his hide out he said "Hold on dude take it easy I was just following you to see if you were heading to some place interesting I had no idea you got invited also" he said holding up his own invitation. "Did Mints give it to you? I got the same thing in the mail this morning." he said slightly surprised. "If you're heading there let's go there together" he said smiling. "I was gonna get a ride from PB but maybe you could uh carry me there or something" he said rubbing the back of his neck with a small smile. "Man that sounded better in my head" he thought still smiling although it had gotten a bit weaker after he said that

@Renne

Renne

Renne relaxed after seeing his follower wasn't dangerous. He was however very intrigued.

"Well, if you're coming with me, somewhere interesting is definitely a must. I need to find some nicer clothes and a gift. Any ideas?" He stood up and brushed off some loose grass. "I can fly you there but not on my back," he chuckled and smiled, "I can just grab your hands and carry you."

He floated just above the ground. "By the way, I'm Renne. It's a pleasure to meet you." He reached a hand out to his new acquaintance.

@The Regal Rper

Kijiro

"I'm Kijiro nice to meet you Renne" he said shaking his hand slightly amused he couldn't hitch a ride on his back. "That's fine and oh yeah a gift" he thought remembering that the invitation was meant for suitors. "Uh well I'm not really of royalty I don't know about you but I don't think I have any you know royal genes in me" he said "And the gift I'm not sure since she's a princess of the crystal kingdom maybe she'd like some sort of gem or something?" he thought out loud

@Renne

Renne

"A gem makes sense, but maybe like a really big one or one that's really cool." Renne mused, "I think I remember hearing about this rainbow gem that's in a cavern not terribly far from here. It's guarded by some kind of witch. You in for a little detour?" He lifted higher into the air with Kijiro in tow and without waiting for a reply, darted off to find the cavern.

@The Regal Rper

Kijiro

Not even bothering to reply Kijiro noticed he was being lifted into the air and soon enough carried towards the cavern "Awesome another adventure" he said with a grin. "Can;t wait to see what's in that cavern. And what;s the story with this gem?" he asked.

@Renne

Renne

He smiled at his traveling companion's enthusiasm, "I remember a merchant telling me about it. It was a little hard to follow, he only spoke in rhymes in this really obnoxious voice."

Renne attempted to imitate the goose "In the cavern dark and black, an evil witch will no doubt attack! Guarding fiercely a rainbow jewel, she defeats and eats an unwary fool! Fear not friend, you fight not in vain! Once she is defeated you may leave again!"

@The Regal Rper

Kijiro

"Snooze Gooze?" he asked "Yeah he does talk in rhymes a lot but you know whateves" after saying that he didn't really say much more because he was thinking about the rhymes Gooze left them or rather Ren. "an evil witch will definitely attack us once we get there" he said "but what does he mean once we defeat her we may leave again?" he wondered slightly curious.

@Renne

Renne

Having that last bit pointed out to him, Renne realized how little he'd thought about his plan to actually retrieve the gem. He'd hoped he could just take it discreetly and be on his way, but that last part of the rhyme made him uneasy. Would he actually have to fight the witch?

"I'm not much of a fighter," Renne lamented out loud, "not that I can't fight, I just don't like to."

The mouth of the cavern opened on the side of a mountain, a small ledge marking the entrance. Renne set Kijiro down on the ledge then landed beside him.

He turned to his new friend and asked, "Any suggestions? You seem better equipped for this than me." Renne nodded towards Kijiro's blades.

@The Regal Rper

Kijiro

"Yeah we slice and dice our way to that gem" he said with a grin pulling out Jitsu and Kagi. "Don't worry Renne I got your back" he said with a grin. "Now let's go" he said leading the way through the cavern. Going deeper and deeper into the cavern it gets darker by the second. "Uh you wouldn't happen to have a flashlight on you would you?" he asked Renne barely able to see where he was even going.

@Renne

Renne

He looked at Kijiro, puzzled for a moment then smacked his forehead with his palm. "That's right you can't see in the dark like I can." He groaned, "Why didn't I think of that? Just a second."

Renne turned back to go outside and find something to make a torch, but when he reached the cavern's opening, he slammed into a magic barrier and fell back onto the cavern floor. "Ow! Glob that hurt! I'm guessing that's what that last line meant." He rubbed his head where he'd hit the barrier.

A loud cackling emanated from deep within the cavern, and spots of magical energy dotted the ceiling, revealing toothy stalactites and stalagmites. A shrill, unpleasant, voice echoed off the walls, "It seems I have some guests! I'd love to have them for dinner!"

Renne looked to Kijiro, then flew back to his side, "It looks like we only have one way to go now."

"Looks like it" he says pulling out Kagu. "Let's pay the old witch a visit after all if she's giving us dinner then we might as well not keep her waiting" he says but doesn't move since he can't see. "C-could you um you know lead the way since I'm blind out here" he said rubbing the back of his neck.

@Renne

Renne

"Actually, I have an idea," Renne stepped in front of Kijiro, "We can do this, piggy back style! Looks like you get to ride on my back after all." He grinned and chuckled, "I'll be your eyes and legs."

@The Regal Rper

Kijiro

"Radical!" he exclaimed excitedly hopping on to Renne's back "Let's go then" he said with a grin ready for anything the witch could throw at them at this point. "Although if something's coming at us I'll need you to tell me where it is" he said cautiously.

@Renne

Renne

"No worries, we got this." Renne floated just above the ground, and headed further into the cave. As he did, the witch's voice echoed toward them again.

"I'm waiting for you, I've put my cauldron to boil, all that remains is to prepare the meat for the stew!"

Renne carried Kijiro into a wide room, in the center a cauldron sat over a small fire, the witch standing on the other side. There were various small tables with trinkets and bottles on them.

"Witch at 12 o clock, cauldron between us and her, about 50 yards away." Renne whispered. He looked around quickly and spotted the gem on a pedestal on the far wall, behind the witch, "and the gem is behind her."

The witch jumped over the cauldron and cackled "What are you saying dearie? I can hear you whispering but I can't hear what you're saying, come closer! It was kind of you to join me!" Her voice cracked midway through her last sentence, and she sounded insane.

Renne whispered "40 yards, dead ahead, what do I do?"

@The Regal Rper

Kijiro

"Jump over her!" he yelled preparing his sword. It had been awhile since he fought a witch but he was pretty confident he could take her with Renne's help although the slight fire provided light in the room it wasn't enough for him to see clearly enough. Being able to see some of the things in there he did catch a glimpse of the gem. Then he saw the witches shadow over the cauldron and waited for the right moment to strike
