Nemesis

When the dogs started walking away, Nemesis sighed in relief. She slowly started down the tree, but didn't go all the way. 'After the dogs leave.' She thought. 'I'll climb down, and find the critters I'm traveling with.'

Algernon breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the dogs walk away. When the male canine had said that he was getting hungry, Algernon had had a moment of panic where he was sure that they were going to eat the strange rodent-like creature. Algernon climbed most of the way down the tree and then jumped the rest of the way down, landing with a THUD in the dirt below, right next to Eltrut who was still playing in the dirt, having dug himself an even bigger hole in the ground, which made for a perfect hiding place.

"You all right, little guy?" he asked the turtle.

"Yeah," Eltrut nodded. "What was going on?"

"Nothing," Algernon lied. "Don't worry about it."

"Can we continue talking to that ferret guy?"

"Who?" Algernon asked. Eltrut replied by jabbing his head in the general direction of the rodent-like creature. "Oh, him. Sure, let's go see him."

"'kay."

Algernon lead Eltrut over to where the supposed "ferret" was. He found it odd that a turtle knew what a ferret was but not what a mouse was. He didn't even know what a ferret was. He pushed the thought aside, however, and spoke to the ferret.

"Hey, are you okay?" Algernon asked.

"Woohoo... Hoo... Hoo...... I'm tired now." Drake flopped back over onto his feet and looked quizzically at the little furry mousey and the green rock that ate green stuff. "Where did the big dogs go?"

Nemesis

Nemesis climbed down the tree, and sighed. She was relieved they were gone, but made her sigh sound more bored than relieved. She licked her fur, it was still standing up. After her fur was washed, she lied down, and yawned. The spider from earlier was gone, and she was now bored, but it beat being chased by those dogs any day.

((Sorry guys...snowstorm knocked out my cable for 24 hours))

Phoenix, quite satisfied with the ferret's antics, flew back to Falkor, who was having a nice nap. Instead of disturbing his pal, he decided to take refuge in a tree far from the rest of the animals and sleep.

((Making a new, funny character))

((@explosiveKitten, one of my characters said something to your's.))

Lily

Lily wandered further into the city, and found Shadow barking at a door. She walked over to him, "What are you doing?" She asked.

Shadow

Shadow turned at the sound of Lily's voice, "I think someone's in here." He said. "But, they haven't told me what happened." He turned back to the door, and scratched at it, begining to bark again.

Muffin

Muffin found the butterfly, but it's wing was ripped, so chasing it wouldn't be very fun. "What now?" She asked Ashes. She picked the butterfly up in her mouth, but it tasted worse than the strange bug sh ate earlier. She spit it out, and stuck her out her tongue.

Nemesis

Nemesis closed her eyes, "What are you all talking about, rodents?" She asked, even calling the turtle a rodent. She opened one of her eyes, "No offence intended, of course." She stretched, and sighed again, waiting for an answer.

"Uh, nothing much," Algernon said to Nemesis, ignoring the ferret's query. "Do you know if the canines will be back?"

Nemesis

Nemesis shrugged, "Who knows, and who cares." She said, not asking, but stating. She spotted something crawling around in the grass, and stood up. She pawed at it, and her tail swished back and forth.

Cider prances through the tall grass.

"This is difficult!" She squeals in her always-cheerful voice. Then, she sees something scary, and she curls up into a ball. It looks like a tall brown thingy stuck in the ground. And they're all around her.

She peeks out from her balled-up state. Once she realizes that the stalk-thingies will cause her no harm, she starts bounding towards them.

"Maybe we can be friends!" She falls over herself once, but gets back up and starts wobbling towards the tree line again. "Hey! That hurt!" She squeaks in indignation at the ground.

After a few minutes of zig-zagging towards the forest, she sees a greenish rock thing digging a hole.

"What are you doing?" She inquires merrily. "And who are you?" Realizing she doesn't know what this thing is she steps backward, her tiny leg nearly collapsing under her weight. Hedgehogs aren't made for this terrain.

"Huh?" Eltrut murmured, looking up to find a hedgehog staring at him. "I'm digging a hole. It's fun. Do you want to dig with me? My name is Eltrut; what's yours?" he spoke quickly, his sentences running together.

"Um..." Cider starts, "I'd love to, but I don't know if I can." She squeaks, standing on her hind legs as to show him her horribly flimsy and tiny paws, however, she topples over.

"See!" She says, getting to her feet. She then starts squeaking at at the ground indignantly, "Why do you keep making me fall!"

Eltrut's next questions come rapid-fire, over loading Cider's tiny brain.

"My name's Cider, and I'm a hedgehog." She says slowly, making sure she's correct. "Um...what are you?" She says, uncertain what the little creature actually is.

"Watch this!" She says, suddenly excited, seemingly forgetting her question. She curls into a little spiky ball. She unrolls and looks at Eltrut "Can you do anything like that?"

"Heh. That's cool!" Eltrut said, marveling at the way Cider curled into a ball. "I'm a turtle, so I can do this." He pulled all of his limbs into his shell so he looked like any ordinary greenish rock. He stayed that way for a few seconds before coming back out with a broad smile dominating his face. "Nice to meet you, Cider."

"Oh!" She squeals, forgetting her manners. "Nice to meet you too, Eltrut!" In her head, she goes over her sentence again, making sure it's in logical order. Her brain can get a little scrambled sometimes.

She absorbs the new word for Eltrut slowly, like a sponge. 'Turtle' She mulls the word over again in her head, just to make sure she doesn't forget it. She is like Dory in Finding Nemo, she forgets things easily, and quickly.

She watches Eltrut, the turtle, as she proudly remembers, go into the rocky part of him. After a second, she forgets where Eltrut went, and scared, curls into a ball. She uncurls quickly and panics.

"Eltrut? Eltrut!" She calls, then sees him come out of his shell. The movement of him coming out of his shell scares her, and she quickly curls into a ball, but comes uncurled as soon as she sees it's, in fact, Eltrut.

"Eltrut! I was so worried!" If hedgehogs could smile, she would be beaming. But instead, she gave off an aura of happiness.

"Do you have any other friends? I like friends." Cider says pleasantly and happily.

Drake had derped strongly for a moment, then when he came to- A spikey ball of spikeyness was talking to his green rock. "Hey!" Drake chirped as he scrambled up on Eltrut's back and peered at the spikey ball of spikeyness. "What are you? I'm Drake, I'm a ferret!"

"I like friends, too!" Eltrut said enthusiastically, realizing just how much he and this hedgehog had in common. "I have a friend who's a mouse. He's really nice and cool." Eltrut turned toward Algernon. "Algae! Come meet my new friend!"

"Huh?" Algernon said, turning to face the turtle. "Oh," he said when he noticed the hedgehog. Somehow, he knew what a hedgehog was, though he couldn't recall ever meeting one. "Hi," he said to the new creature. "My name is Al--"

He was interrupted by the ferret who climbed back on top of Eltrut and began speaking to the hedgehog.

"Mice. I like mice." Cider says, as if liking mice is a definite part of her personality, even though her definition of mice, or anything, for that matter, is always a little hazy. She then sees a white mouse, and is interested in learning his name. Then, a stretched-out-looking-mouse-thingy jumps on top of Eltrut. Cider feels like she has seen one of these stretched-out-looking-mouse-thingys before, but she isn't sure. Then he introduces himself as a ferret.

Before answering Drake's questions, Cider has to pause and store the word 'ferret' in her memory. This one isn't too hard to remember because they had ferrets at her pet store, but it is still relatively difficult for her to remember anything.

"I'm Cider, and I'm a hedgehog." She says to both Drake and the white mouse slowly, just in case they need to store words in their memories too. "What cool things do you guys like to do?" She asks, rolling into a little spike-ball for demonstration.

Eltrut was no longer paying attention to the hedgehog, for the only thing he could think about was the crushing feeling of the ferret sitting on top of him. It wasn't that the creature was heavy, exactly; it was just that Eltrut was so tiny and weak that even the slightest weight added to the weight of his shell was enough to make it hard to stay standing.

"Uh, Mr. Ferret, sir?" the turtle asked in a shy voice. "Could you please, uh, get off of me? Pretty please with a shrimp on top?"

Drake edges forward some more, staring at the little spikey ball in fascination while his steed voiced his displeasure with his rider. "I can do things too!" The ferret rolled up into a ball himself and off of Eltrut, then... Well, what he planned on doing escaped him. He completely forgot what he was about to do. "Uhhh... Yeah. And where's the shrimp? I like shrimp."

"Uh," Eltrut said, "in the ocean? I think? I don't know where the ocean is, though." He was just glad that he could breathe and walk again. "Do you know how we can get to the ocean?"

"Ocean? Shrimp?" Cider was very, very confused. And starting to get a headache. These creatures were too darn smart for her!

Eltrut turned to Cider. "Are you okay?" he asked, concerned. She looked confused or frustrated or something along those lines. It was hard to tell. Eltrut wasn't used to trying to read hedgehogs.

"Yeah. Fine. Whose going to lead the way to the...uh...ocean?" She asks, trying to turn the focus onto someone else. Although she is cute, she doesn't want any of the other critters to figure out how intellectually inferior she is.

Eltrut made a vague shrugging motion with his "shoulders". He said, "I don't know. Algae?" Algernon turned to hear him. "Do you know where the ocean is?" the turtle asked.

"Um, no," the mouse replied. "I don't even know where we are."

Nemesis

Nemesis heard the rodents talking, and noticed a voice she didn't recognize. She turned her head, and saw a little spiky. . .mouse? She walked over, "Who's this?" She asked, confused.

Cider was nervous of the cat, but she used all of her willpower to stay open. "I-I'm a hedgehog..Cider's my name." She says uncertainly
