Lily

Lily looked over at Falkor, as he walked off. "Shadow, stay here." She told the siba inu. She quietly started to follow the large dog, wondering where he was going.

Shadow

Shadow nodded, and stood up. He looked around, making sure everyone was still safe, and there.

"Um," Algernon said. "I'm Algernon." He stared at the strange creature for a moment before asking, "I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but . . . what are you?"

Eltrut beamed with the smile of a young child. "I'm a turtle!" he said happily. "And what are you?"

"Um, a mouse?" Algernon said unsurely. He had never met a creature who didn't recognize a mouse before, and he had certainly never heard of a turtle before. "So . . . ," Algernon said awkwardly, "what do you like to eat?" It seemed to Algernon that every creature he had met so far in his life saw him as nothing but prey, so he needed to know whether he could trust this "turtle", whatever that was.

"Uh, like grass and stuff," Eltrut replied.

"'And stuff'?" Algernon asked with a poorly hidden tremor in his voice.

"You know, like, sea stuff," the turtle said. "Shrimp and plants and whatnot."

Algernon had never heard of shrimp either.

This was going to be difficult.

Diablo sat up and looked at Smidge, "They are getting closer." He said, he couldn't hear as well as her or smell as well as her either, His torn ear was hard of hearing, and a Scar over his nose prevented him from smelling as well as other dogs. The scent was faint for him, but strong for Smidge "Yes, I know." She said softly and looked towards the woods, She let out a yawn and shook her pelt of the slightly damp grass, "Well, they don't smell aggressive." She looed at Diablo, "Just curious." He nodded and waited to be approached, He wouldn't be gentle at any sight of aggression.

After a few minutes, Falkor intruded on the gathering of two dogs and two deer carcasses. Phoenix was visibly upset, flapping his wings, but he did not make a sound out of fear.

"We come in peace." Falkor said immediately, for fear of attack. "I am Falkor, and this is my feathered companion Phoenix. We mean no harm, we are friendly nomads who just wish to meet new animals because we are lonesome outcasts." Falkor sat on his haunches and waited for a response.

Diablo bared his teeth shocked by the bird, he let out a deep, low growl of aggression, He flattened his ears and listened to the other dog speak, He grunted softly, Smidge stood in front of her brother, Her shiny black cot glossy and soft looking, Her tail was held up high as showing she was alert and possibly aggressive or dominant. She tilted her head slightly, "Uh." She was confused, Not used to other dogs not attacking her, Diablo stared at Falkor closely, Watching for aggression. "I am Smidge." She said softly, Her voice gentle but edgy. "And this is my brother, Diablo." She said and Diablo stood up, he was much larger, and had much more muscle then his sibling, His scars almost made him look old, but he was clearly young. He sniffed towards the other male dog curiously, and he flattened his ears. He had seen something like Phoenix before. He had attempted to catch the animal but it flew off. Diablo's ears twitched, or at least what was left of his ears. He glanced at Smidge who gently ran her long tail down her brother's spine to flatten his fur, She looked towards the lone animals "Hmm." She said quietly, Then she caught another scent, Cat. "Is there another companion you are not speaking of?" She asked, the fur along her spine prickling slightly as her brother flattened his stubby ears.

Lily

Lily poked her nose out of the brush, and her ears went back. These dogs didn't look friendly. She stepped back, and was about to run. When, she stepped on a twig, and jumped.

"There are many other once-companion animals roaming around in these woods, one of the cats may have followed me. I travel with Phoenix, I do not often associate with cats, and neither does my companion, as you may imagine." Falkor disn't want to get on the bad side of these dogs. He isn't much of a hunter, not deer, anyways. Phoenix was eerily quiet, which was a good thing, for the moment.

Suddenly, he caught a whiff of Lily. "Um, I think the companion you may be referring to is a cat, named Lily." He heard a twig snap. "That's Lily."

Drake eventually ran out of steam, just walking around with the weird arched gait that ferrets have. The smells he smelled with his smeller smelled quite smelly. Dogs and cats smelled a lot. But now he was getting a musky smell that smelled even more smelly than the other smells. Not a mammalian smell anyways. Why did he like the word smell anyways? Oh well. Hey look, a rock!

Pausing just out of sight, he watched the little furry mouse from earlier talking to a rock. ... Wow, and his owners thought he was weird.

Diablo looked toward the forest and growled loudly he charged the bush aggressively, His pelt bristled and she showed his long sharp fangs, His tail was held high, He barked loudly "Show yourself!" He snapped at the bush, He snapped his jaws loudly, and continued to growl deep and low. Smidge was slightly startled by her siblings explosion of aggression, She flattened her stubby ears and looked towards Falkor She knew it was a feline by the scent. She stepped over beside her sibling "Diablo." She said and nuzzled her sibling, He began to calm, "It is Falkor's acquaintance, But not companion." She said softly to her brother, He growled loudly again, before standing up straight and tall. He grunted, He was edgy around these animals, he didn't know them, and barely wanted to, He just wanted his sibling safe.

Falkor stamped his paws nervously, not wanting to cause any trouble. So, stamping his paws, he waited.

Diablo's tail swished side to side slowly, Showing slight aggression and edginess. Smidge looked over to Falkor, "Lily?" She asked, crouching and peeking her nose into the bush, Her sibling standing by her. Se wagged her tail slightly at the scent of the cat, "Well. Hello." She smiled gently. Diablo looked over at Falkor, "w-" He stared at the dog curiously "What are you doing?" He asked tilting his large head.

Lily

Lily jumped, she'd never met such a mean dog before. All the dogs she knew were nice, and shared their food with her. Although, she only ever knew Shadow, and Mustard, the neighbor's dog. She backed away, and climbed a nearby tree. She peered down, and watched the dogs.

Diablo stared up at Lily, He growled softly and snorted before turning back to Falkor, Smidge went over to the tree "What are you doing up there?" She asked putting her large paws on the tree, she extended her full length, and sniffed the air towards the cat curiously. The cat was away up the tree and Smidge's nose twitched, Diablo shook his large head "So you just wander around? And don't stay in one spot?" He was curious, but still edgy.

"So, uh," Algernon hesitated, "you said you like to eat grass?" Eltrut nodded enthusiastically, every movement of his childlike. "Well, that shouldn't be too difficult to find," Algernon said. "Come on, little guy," he called behind him as he stepped away from the bush. Eltrut followed eagerly, seemingly content with every idea Algernon had in mind.

Algernon stopped in the middle of an area of rich green grass. "Here, you can munch on some of this," Algernon said, gesturing around him with one of his little "arms".

Eltrut looked up at him with a guilty expression on his face. "Are we allowed to?"

"Yeah, sure," the rodent said. "Why not? It's the forest. The food here is open to anyone who wants it. Or whoever gets to it first, anyway." He let out a light chuckle. Eltrut didn't get the joke, of course, but Algernon didn't mind. The turtle got to eating, and Algernon had to stifle a laugh at how messy of an eater the little green rock was.

Lily

Lily's eyes were wide, and her breathing was shaky. "I-I-I I'm sorry!" She shouted. She backed away from the dog. "W-what do you want?" She climbed a little further up the tree.

Shadow

Shadow ran over, and caught Muffin. He set her down, and licked her head. Then, he heard Lily's frightened mewing. He ran, and then slowed, and started sneaking. He saw a dog bothering Lily, he walked over, but not threateningly. "Excuse me, but what are you doing to my cat?" He asked, tilting his head.

Smidge tilted her head, She didn't understand why the cat was sorry, then saw another dog, Her ears twitched "wondering why she was trying to be sneaky." She said confused, and looked over at Diablo, slightly unsure of the situation, There were many new animals, and she was becoming frightened, Diablo glanced over and his eyes met Shadow's He glanced away then took a double take, he growled loudly, he was able to smell his sister's fear scent, He took a step forward, and stood over his smaller sibling aggressively and protectively, He sniffed behind his sister's ears gently, in a loving and comforting way, He then looked up into Shadow's eyes and growled again, Smidge looked up at her brother. "He didn't do anything.." She said softly, Diablo let out another loud growl and stepped back, His sister stood up slowly, She kept her brother from fighting. Diablo watched Shadow closely. Smidge tilted her head "Merely curious, on why she was hiding." She said gently

Shadow

Shadow got the message loud and clear, he stepped back. He wandered over to the other side of the tree, "Come on, Lily." He said. He waited patiently for the cat to climb down.

Lily

Lily nodded, and climbed down the tree. She hopped onto Shadow's back, and he carried her to the rest of the friendly animals. She jumped off, and ran over to Muffin. She picked her up, and put her at the bottom of a tree. She started climbing, "Follow me." She said.

Muffin

Muffin didn't know why her mother was in such a hurry, but she shrugged, and followed Lily up the tree. She got on a high branch, and looked around. "What are we hiding from, mama?" She asked.

Nemesis

Nemesis' stomach growled, and she wished the mouse hadn't been poisoned by the humans. She walked away from Salem, and found a rat nearby. It was bigger then the mouse, so it would make a better meal. She pounced on it, and cut it with her sharp claws. When it died, she stuffed it in her mouth, and ate it. She had lost Salem by now, and she shrugged. "Oh well, I wasn't going to get anything out of that anyway." She said. She walked, and walked, and ended up finding Algernon again, and this time he was with a small green thing. "Hello, rodent!" She said, wondering if he would get scared, before relizing who sh was. "Who's your friend?"

It's...... A cat! A big dark cat! With shiny eyes! Must... Not... Attempt to steal! Drake rolled around a bit, fighting the urge to run out in the open and jump on the cat's face to loot her eyes.

Algernon turned, recognizing Nemesis's voice. "Oh, hey, Nemesis," he greeted her in a friendly voice. "This is my new pal, Eltrut." The turtle smiled in greeting, grassing hanging out of his mouth, preventing him from speaking. Algernon continued. "He's, um, he's a turtle. Do you know what that is?" he inquired. He hoped that cats didn't like to eat turtles, though he couldn't imagine anything being able to munch on that rock.

Shadow

Shadow lied down, his guard dog reputation was ruined! He growled to himself, "Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid." He said quietly. He stood up, and shook. "I'll be back." He said. He headed into the city, and walked past a house that looked abandoned. Then, he heard a dog inside, they sounded in trouble. He ran over to the door, and scratched at it. "What's wrong!?" He barked. "Do you need help!?"
Nemesis

Nemesis tilted her head, "Tur-tle? . . .Uh, yes, I know what a turtle is!" She said. "Their little green things that. . ." She licked her shoulder, "Well, that's for me to know, and you to find out. . ." She said, not actually knowing what a turtle was.
((Just a sad heads up, DemonicAngel has dropped out. . .))

If Algernon had eyelids, he would have widened them in fear. "W--what's that s'posed to mean?" he asked with a trembling voice. He really hoped that turtles weren't cat pray.

Nemesis

Nemesis looked back at the mouse, "Don't worry, I'm not gonna eat him. He was probably poisoned by the humans too." She said. She licked her paws, and rubbed her face.

"Uh, yeah, probably," Algernon said, unsure. Eltrut continued to eat his grass, completely oblivious to the conversation going on about him.

"I...uh, stamp my paws when I'm nervous," Falkor said sheepishly, accompanied by a snicker from Phoenix above. "It's something I've always done." There was a pause in Falkor's speech. "Well, I guess I'll leave you guys to yourselves. If you ever want to meet more of us, we're only minutes away." With that, Falkor left, Phoenix safely perched on top of him.
