The (tsu), which is silent, adds an extra 't' to the romaji which indicates that you should hold more emphasis, or hold it out longer.


In romaji it's "ganbatte"


but in hiragana, you would use the characters 'ga' 'n' 'ba' 'tsu' 'te'


 
And ganbatte is good luck =_= or do your best, etc... but I don't see why the shirt would say that xD so I dunno.
