The sudden murmurs of agreement did nothing to consult Clarissa. As her father clapped joyously at their sudden change of heart, she darted away, shoving through the crowd to get to the nearest exit. She even stumbled into Jack by mere accident. "M-My apologies." She quickly said, refusing to look up at him as the tears that she had been trying so hard to keep at bay had finally fallen. She disappeared back into the crowd before reappearing for a split second as she was running out into the garden, everyone staring after her in bewilderment as if they hadn't done anything wrong.

Tori was greeting a few sporty-looking guys when Myra joined them. She rubbed herself against one of their chests while making purring sounds before noticing her friend. She squealed and waved Myra over, introducing her to the two guys as they glanced over the two of them with almost hungry looks. "Myra, meet Landon and Changing!" Tori bit her lip and winked at Landon before breaking into giggles.

Valen felt himself warm at Holly's touch. The blush spread to his face and in his sudden embarrassment he nearly steered them into a tree. He barely cleared it in time, letting out a sigh of relief.

"What an emotional biddy!" a girl around Clarissa's age exclaimed, bringing a laugh from those around her but a scolding few words from her mother. Jack rolled his eyes and finished his champagne in one drink, setting it atop one of the nearby tables for a caterer or maid to pick up. He followed the girl outside. Curse my compassion... he thought.

Myra waved silently, forcing the best smile she could before glancing back at Zach, as if silently pleading him to save her. She crossed her arms across her chest as she turned back towards the two boys, now suddenly more conscious of how much skin she was showing as their eyes traveled down her body. "Nice to meet you." She said curtly, leaning against Tori for support.

Holly's grip around Valen's waist tightened as she was jerked to the side a bit. She stayed as close to him as possible, her body shaking like a leaf as she just prayed silently that this nightmare would be over soon. "We're never going to a party ever again!" She wailed, not knowing this was the price you had to pay for wanting to have fun.

Clarissa was sitting by a large fountain, her hands dipping into the cool water as she washed off the rouge and blush her mother had forced her to put on earlier. She had known this was a bad idea from the start. No matter what her title was in the world, people would never accept her as she was. "The only man that's going to want to marry you is some old buzzard that's just looking for a young girl whose innocence he can steal. And then he's going to leave you alone to take care of your awful children until you die of a heart attack." She told herself as she looked into her wavering reflection. She sighed at what she saw. Her hair had gotten wet and was sticking to the side of her cheeks while her lips were still stained red. She continued to wash off the damned makeup, cursing at how well it stayed on. Soon she got tired of trying and just dunked her whole head into the water, quickly sitting up and shaking her now soaked hair about, not caring if her priceless dress got ruined by the water.

"Nice to meet ya, Myra," Channing said with a nice smile. He was a lot sweeter than his bulky build made him out to be. "Nice costume! You look great." Landon, on the other hand, had a sultry look on his face and looked about ready to start making out with either one of them.

Valen couldn't help a small laugh, and then a few seconds later they were slowing to a stop at the top of the mountain. A few people were already loitering outside, while a half a dozen or so were visible through the window of the cabin. "You're safe now," he said, taking off his helmet and getting off the mobile.

"Well, I wouldn't count on getting a nice husband by doing that," Jack said as he approached slowly. "It's not typically found attractive when a woman shakes herself like a dog."

"Thanks." She said, shyly shifting to where she was sort of standing behind Tori, practically using her as a shield. "Can I go now?" She asked in a hushed whisper, leaning close to Tori's ear. She kept glancing uneasily at Landon, her hand suddenly gripping Tori's.

Holly yanked off the helmet and tossed it angrily in the snow before sliding off the back seat and scrambling away from the snowmobile. "I'm walking down the mountain next time." She said, glaring at the thing as if it had purposely tried to kill her.

Clarissa stood abruptly, her face once again turning a deep shade of crimson as she whipped around to face whoever had spoken to her. In the midst of her sudden actions, her shoe got caught on her long dress and she fell backwards with a loud squeak and a splash. She stared up at Jack, her eyes wide as she sat shivering, now in the fountain. She stood once again, more carefully this time, and pushed her hair out of her face, having not the slightest clue of what to say. "I-I didn't realize I was in the presence of a man. M-My deepest apologies. Please excuse my foolish behavior." She tried, practically cowering in fear at what he might think and say about her little fall.

Tori pouted. "Aw c'mon... Don't you want to help me greet guests?" Canning excused himself and walked past them into the living room.

Valen was terribly amused by this, and as he laughed he handed off the helmets and the snowmobile to the other dude wearing the same outfit as the escorts at the base of the mountain.

Jack smiled gently and held out a hand to help her up. "Do nae worry. I shan't tell anyone about your literal spill. I shouldn't be here with you, anyways."

"No. I think you're doing juuust fine by yourself." She said before scrambling back to Zach's side. She punched him in the arm as hard as she could, a glare on her face. "That was awful." She muttered, annoyed that he hadn't helped her get out of the predicament Tori had put her in.

Holly stuck out her tongue to Valen childishly before linking arms with him and leading him towards the house. "Now it's your turn to fear for your life." She muttered, thinking about whether or not she should get back at Valen and just leave him to fend for himself in a crowd of people he didn't know. Though the thought was tempting, she obviously thought better of it as she let out a disappointed sigh.

Clarissa looked at his outstretched hand for a moment, bewildered before she realized she was meant to take it. She quickly did and pulled herself out of the water, her clothes now drenched. "T-Thank you. Your silence is g-greatly appreciated." She said through chattering teeth as she flashed him a halfhearted smile. She couldn't help but imagine what her father was going to say when he saw her in such a disheveled state. "But if you're not meant to be out here, then why are you?" She asked, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "You should be inside with the others, mocking me along with my father. But instead you're out here with me, watching me make an even bigger fool of myself."

"I'll admit I felt bad for you, the way they poked fun." As soon as Clarissa was upright, Jack pulled his hand away quickly. "I must return inside, or someone might catch us alone together and think something scandalous of it."

"Look, Tori's scary when she's angry! I wasn't going to risk stealing her friend from her and waking up missing all the parts that categorize me as male!" Zach rubbed where Myra had punched him.

"Please don't leave me on my own...!" Valen said, almost as if reading her mind. " I'll throw myself off the mountain!"

"Right. Yes. Of course." Clarissa said, leaning away from him and letting her eyes drop o the ground once more as they always would. "May I at least know the name of my savior?" She asked jokingly, trying her best to leave their encounter on a good note in case they happened to meet again.

"My name is Larkin," Jack said before bowing slightly at the waist in respect for the daughter of the richest people in town. Then he headed inside, hoping the girl would wait a few minutes before trailing inside so that it wouldn't be assumed they were together."

Myra couldn't help but laugh at the thought of Tori doing that, knowing that she would if she had a good enough reason to. "Still," She said, trying her best to contain her giggles. "That sucked." She said before looking around, her back now leaning against the wall across from Zach. "How many people do you think will be coming tonight..?" She asked hesitantly, a bit anxious at how many had already showed up. She always hated crowds. This was definitely no exception.

"Okay okay!" She said, jabbing him in the ribs with her elbow lightly with a grin. "We only have to stay for an hour or so, deal? Then we can leave and go paint the town!" It now becoming apparent that even after they left the party, his torture wouldn't be over so soon.

"Nice to meet you.. Mr. Larkin." She said with a sigh, her eyes following him as he went back inside. Clarissa never did come through the garden entrance after him. She had been able to sneak her way to the front of the house and get inside through the front door. To where she then proceeded upstairs to her room to lock herself inside to keep the guests and her father out.

Days had passed since the fiasco that was her 'matchmaking' gathering. And Clarissa's father had already selected a handful of boys that he thought would make fine husbands for his daughter. "Clarissa come out this instant! We've been waiting for ages!" He snapped from outside her door. "Then I guess you'll just have to keep waiting for all eternity! Because I'm not going to prance around out there like I'm some prize to be won!" She shot back from inside her room. But her voice was faint as she was on the other side of it, tying her sheets together like a rope as she tossed it out the window, planning to make a great escape.

Zach leaned against the wall beside Myra, sizing up the forming crowd. "Um... A lot. Probably about 6 or 7 times this." There were already about 15 to 20 people there, roaming around. "Tori likes hosting big parties."

Valen pouted. "They're not gonna be letting people run free with their snowmobiles. We're probably trapped up here until the party's over..."

(Omfg a great escape) One of the suitors seemed to think his charisma was a crutch he could lean on in troubling times. He went to Clarissa's door. "Miss Clarissa, wouldn't you please at least come and meet us? It's saddening to come here to meet a wonderful young lady and be disappointed..."

Clarissa snorted, her nose wrinkling in disgust. There was a long pause before the door to her bedroom suddenly swung open. There Clarissa stood in front of him, in nothing but her undershirt that was fashioned as a tank top, and her bloomers that went down to her mid calf. She had taken her dress off, and had even wiped off every spec of her makeup that her mother had spent hours doing. “If you came to meet a wonderful young lady, then you’ve obviously come to the wrong place.” She said, her eyes narrowed up at him. Her father stood beside the boy, practically in shock at his daughter’s appearance. “Good day, sir.” She said in a sneering tone before biting her thumb at him and her father, causing the old man to collapse. The door then slammed and locked once more and she was out the window in seconds, her feet landing hard on the ground below. She could hear the appalled gasps of the gardeners around her, but she didn’t care as she took off towards the back roads that led to town, a wide and cheeky grin on her face as she ran.

“I’m gonna pass out.” Myra said breathlessly as she slid into a sitting position, her jewelry jinglinf and jangling once again as she moved. “We don’t have to stay, right? If we snuck off somewhere, I’m sure Tori wouldn’t even notice that we were gone.” She tried, looking up at Zach helplessly.

Holly groaned, rubbing her face as they stood outside the front door. “This was such a terrible idea. Why didn’t you tell me this was such a terrible idea?” She said, looking up at Valen as if he hadn’t been trying to talk her out of this the whole time.

The suitor was abashed, having flushed pink at the sight of Clarissa. He was young, about her age, and had never seen a girl in her underclothes. He didn't have time to calm himself, instead having to help the girl's father. "Sir? Are you alright?"

Zach's eyes widened and he let out a breathy laugh. "Uh, it almost sounds like you're trying to whisk me away to a bedroom to make out..." He paused. "And trust me, she would notice."

"Wha-- You--?!" Valen sputtered before frowning cutely, lowering his eyebrows and almost puffing out his cheeks. "You're hopeless!"
