•A reason for broken wingS•
(a not so cliche reboot)
━━━━━━❦━━━━━━
Once upon a time, whispers began to spread of a heroic quest brought forth by Paradisia's kind and beloved Queen. It was, as all such quests are of course, to hunt down a legendary object of infinite power before evil could twist it into something else entirely. To find this prize known as the Heart of Sabelina would be to save their home world of Sabel from certain destruction at the hands of the wicked Shadowmaster. As promised by Queen Vivienne herself, all rewards for doing so successfully would be suitably lavish as to make the considerable risks worthwhile.
Whether selected by Paradisia's great Seer, lead into her quest by a sense of pure-hearted adventure or simply bored and greedy, would-be heroes are gathered at the Castle Paradisia for a night of feasting and celebration before their early morning departure. Here, they will form into a rag-tag group so that they may set off and defeat all that is dark and terrible. There will be rivalries, camaraderie and perhaps even moments of hopelessness. Drama and chaos are inevitable, but so is a victory strengthened by the undying power of friendship... right? After all, that's how every other cliche fantasy tale like this one has ended... or is it?
~~~
This is a reboot of a roleplay I posted a while back that sadly died out due to the usual, as well as life problems brought on by our dear friend COVID-19. It was fun while it lasted and I'd like to give the story a second chance since there's a lot of lore and stuff left over.
This time however, it's even more flexible and interactive than before. Yes, the beginning premise is pretty simple... a cliche fantasy setting that's both nostalgic and reasonably light-hearted. What it becomes, however, will be up to player choices and each person participating will be able to mold and change parts of the story through their character's actions... the tone of the rp and potential ending included. I expect this to get considerably darker than the beginning may suggest (no cliche perfect happy endings here), but exactly how dark will depend on choices made throughout the roleplay. To ensure the story doesn't stall or get stuck, I do have some rough plots in mind, but very little is set in stone. Exploring and side quests will definitely be a thing here, as will fleshed-out npcs and multiple solutions for any potential issues that may arise. While the starting premise is entirely cliche and predictable, the roleplay itself absolutely won't be.
What you do to npcs (as well as other pcs) and how you choose to fight or interact will affect the story. In a world of unfamiliar dangers, choosing to perform reckless or downright stupid actions obviously carries a high chance of consequence, but so does being overly cautious. Play your characters authentically... it's always more fun that way.
RULES:
This will be a multi-para rp, meaning 1 solid paragraph is the bare minimum and 2+ much preferred. I understand that post length can vary based on how much there is to react to and I'm not going to yell at people for the occasional single paragraph, but absolutely no one-liners, thanks. If others are putting effort into bringing the setting and its inhabitants to life, it's only fair you do the same.
Many of the characters will likely be humans, but not boring ones. Magic powers are cool and to be expected here for many (but not all) characters. Their strength and flashiness level tends to vary, but no one aside from Queen Vivienne, the Shadowmaster and perhaps a few npcs should be capable of going around levelling buildings.
Non-human characters are totally possible and welcome, but considered rarer in this setting. If you want to create one please pm me first and tell me about what they are, what their species can do etc. so I can ensure they're a good fit with the story's plot... yeah, I'm hoping for something a little more unique than your basic elves and dwarves. They should still look (reasonably) humanoid however, nothing too dramatically odd.
Should go without saying but the usual rules still apply... no godmodding, killing or seriously injuring other people's characters unless both players have agreed on it, creating super op or ridiculous characters, and/or just generally being an annoying drama llama. Got issues? Talk to me about it if you and the other person can't or won't resolve things.
Characters do not have to be nice people with the purest of intentions by any means, but no insane, purely evil or murderous individuals, please and thank you. I've seen too many rps die from those types being left unchecked, so I'm going to have to ban them here. Villain roles are an exception, but even they should have more depth than 'hAh hEh iNsAnE sTaBbY' or they get boring fast. Evil for the sake of evil is almost never interesting.
You may make up to three characters starting off, two mains and one side that you're encouraged to kill off for dramatic potential if at all possible. While I'm not one to pull something annoying like "rocks fall, everyone dies", as stated earlier, actions will have consequences and characters can absolutely be injured or put out of action for a while if they make dumb choices. As we'll be going through many interesting destinations, there will be chances to 'pick up' new travellers, as well as have old ones leave, so it'll totally be possible to switch characters if you get bored (been there) or join the group later on.
If you want to leave the group, that's okay. Real life happens, I get it. Just please please PLEASE let me know or write yourself out first. If you don't, your character will be made into a npc or killed off without exception. It may not seem very nice, but I'm tired of rps dying on everyone because one or two people playing important characters left in the middle of a scene. If you know you'll be away for a while, tell me so we can safely send your character somewhere else until you're ready to return.
Codes are fully optional, but if you choose to use one, it MUST be mobile friendly!
I'm not fussy when it comes to character images in a fantasy setting, realistic or drawn are both find so long as they aren't super low quality (think like stick figures or MSPaint 'masterpieces' lol). Oh, and no selfies either. That's just weird and awkward. Adding a written description is still encouraged however, as it can tell a lot of things a picture can't.
If you have any questions, want to share ideas and just chat about the rp in general or want to run your character/plan past me to make sure it's accepted before you post it, send a pm. I'd be happy to discuss with you.
