A Pokemon Journey!

Wiggle

the best of the best, ya heard
Lukas let a loud laugh out at Spencer's embarrassment, it was always funny to him and it was so easy to get her going. He always enjoyed teasing her just to play around, even when he lost to her in a pokemon battle. He smiled at her as she tried her best to explain her reasons for dressing the way she did, but Lukas knew they were excuses.

"You need to start waking up early! I swear to Arceus, you're like a Snorlax! Sleeping until noon!" She said, scolding him once again. "You better get used to waking up early, because you know I'm going to drag you up and out of your sleeping bag every morning."

She huffed, crossed her arms and then brushed a lock of brunette hair from her face, which caused Lucas to roll his eyes at her display of annoyance. She always acted like his mother, telling him what to do, and scolding him for doing something she didn't like. It didn't really bother him in all honesty, it just gave him another reason to tease her. Lukas was pulled from his thoughts as Spence's Swablu flew overhead, chirping happily at Pikachu in a greeting.

"Pika!" Pikachu replied, making Lukas laugh.

"Come on Lukas, I'm not waiting any longer." Spencer said, turning and walking towards the Rustboro City Gym.

Lukas sighed and followed after her, eventually catching up with her.

"How come you never put Kipple or Ciel in their pokeballs?" He asked. "Combi and Sphea like it better than walking everywhere. They're kind of lazy until it comes to battling."

As Spencer was walking toward the gym, Lukas spoke up behind her. "How come you never put Kipple or Ciel in their pokeballs?" Lukas asked. Spencer glanced behind him. "Combi and Sphea like it better than walking everywhere. They're kind of lazy until it comes to battling," he added. The brunette shrugged, gazing at Ciel who perched herself on her shoulder.

"I don't know...Ciel hates her pokeball, I know that and Kipple. Well...He's Kipple," Spencer laughed, watching Kipple walk up in front of her, swinging his arms. "I only keep Horsie in her pokeball...well because, she doesn't like me for some reason," the brunette sighed, brushing a hand over the said Pokemon's pokeball.

She yawned, covering her mouth, "I think if you have your pokemon out, Pokemon and trainers alike will probably grow closer, which is an advantage when it comes to battling," she said.

Lukas cast a glance at the happy Marshtomp and laughed.

"Yeah, you're right." He agreed. "But I think spending time together, and winning battles is important too. The more you battle with your Pokemon, the better you'll learn it's strengths, weaknesses and quirks."

He patted Pikachu on the head and smiled. Pikachu chooed and released another shower of sparks.

"How do you think you'll fair in the Gym?" Lukas asked. "Their specialty is rock, which means most of pikachu's attacks are going to be useless. Your Marshtomp should be able to destroy Roxanne's Pokemon, if you play your cards right. I think my only chance at winning are Combi and Sphea."

They continued walking down Rustboro City's streets heading towards the Gym. It was quite noisy today, with people walking back and forth like busy ants, with their Pokemon. Lukas must've counted at least ten to twelve other trainers and was silently thankful that the police didn't allow Pokemon battles inside city limits, not unles they were in a registered Hoenn League Gym or other sanctioned areas.

"Yeah, you're right." He agreed. "But I think spending time together, and winning battles is important too. The more you battle with your Pokemon, the better you'll learn it's strengths, weaknesses and quirks." Spencer glanced over to Lukas, before nodding.

"What's better than getting to know your pokemon fully?" she chuckled. As the two neared, she guessed that Lukas's next question was going to be about the gym. She thought about it for a moment, "I'm debating if I wanted to use Horsie or not...I really want to get on friendly terms with her, and she seems to love battling..." Spencer told him, tightening her ponytail. "If I can't use Horsie, I'll switch off to Kipple and ace that gym," she laughed.

Spencer looked up at the sky, "How far do you think we'll go? I hope we do get all 8 badges and attempt to challenge the Hoenn League. I'm not really looking forward to being champion...I rather be on this adventure to get to know my pokemon better, meet new friends and just...have a casual adventure with pokemon," she smiled. She then glanced over to Lukas, "And my excitement doubles because it's with you..." she added quietly, giggling.

"Well, I like sleep for one." Lukas said, with a sudden laugh.

Lukas stopped for a moment and listened to Spence speak, he nodded every once in a while to show her that he was listening.

"Well, give her a try, if she doesn't work out, then switch to Kip." He said. "If she doesn't get along with you, you might think about releasing her and finding a replacement pokemon. Maybe a grass or ground pokemon, seems like those might fit you."

They continued to walk for a while, until the gym began to grow bigger, signalling that they were nearing it.

"I think I might just power through with Combi, fighting is fairly decent against Rock. If not, I'll switch off to Sphea. She knows a few water moves." He said.

Lukas glanced over at Spencer who happened to be looking up in the sky lost in thought.

"How far do you think we'll go? I hope we do get all 8 badges and attempt to challenge the Hoenn League. I'm not really looking forward to being champion...I rather be on this adventure to get to know my pokemon better, meet new friends and just...have a casual adventure with pokemon," She said. "And my excitement doubles because it's with you..." she added quietly, with a small giggle.

Lukas laughed in response and shrugged.

"I hope we get to the Elite Four and beat them all, including the Champion." He said. "I think it'd be cool to be Champion, we'd be so famous! Everyone in Rustboro and the other cities would know our names."

Spencer chuckled, "Sounds like a lotta work if you ask me," she smiled. "Being champion and stuff. Plus, if we became champions, I don't think we would be able to travel to other regions!" the brunette giggled.

The two stood in front of the gym that was bustling with trainers all around. Spencer glanced at Lukas before giving a small girlie squeal, "We finally get to challenge the gym! Oh my Arceus, I can't believe it~!" she giggled. She grabbed Ciel gently and faced the bird pokemon, "Ciel~ It's going to be our first battle that's not Lukas! Wait. Where's Kipple?" Spencer asked, realizing her Marshtomp wasn't beside her. She did a full 360, finally spotting him at a stand.

Staring at food with big dreamy eyes, drooling a bit. Spencer blushed, before sighing, "Kipple! Get back here!" she called out. When her starter pokemon didn't move, the brunette grumbled before stomping over to her pokemon, "Kipple, we have a gym battle~! Stop looking for food! You'll get food after the battle, okay?" she scolded.

"We finally get to challenge the gym! Oh my Arceus, I can't believe it!" Spencer squealed. "Ciel~ It's going to be our first battle that's not Lukas! Wait. Where's Kipple?"

Lukas wasn't paying any attention to Spencer, and didn't noticed when she wandered off.

"It is a lot of work, but nothing ever worth doing is easy." Lukas said. "That's what my Dad always tells me. But yeah, you're right, but we could always go to the other regions and become their Champions too. Think about it, by the time we've made it to Sinnoh, Kanto, Johto, Kalos and Unova, we'd be unstoppable. Our Pokemon would be so strong that we could wipe the floor with anyone who dared challenge us." He said, daydreaming aloud. "Doesn't that sound cool, Spence?"

Lukas waited for her reply, and when it didn't come, he tore his eyes from the gym and glanced over in the direction that Spencer was standing only moments ago.

"Spence?" He asked. "Oh man. Spence?!"

"Kipple!" Spencer scolded once again to her Marshtomp, "I promise you, you will get a full meal AFTER the battle!" she huffed. She scopped up her starter pokemon into her arms, while Ciel nestled herself onto of the brunette's head. Sighing, Spencer turned back around to find Lukas calling for her.

The female jogged back over to Lukas, chuckling, "I'm right here! No need to yell," she laughed, nudging Lukas with her shoulder. "Anyways, are you ready? I can't wait!" she squealed, hugging her Marshtomp. She looked up at Lukas, grinning, "Who's battling first?" she asked.

Lukas laughed at her and shook his head.

"I thought you wandered off, like you usually do." He said. "Remember the time you got lost on Route 116? Took me all day to find you sitting under a tree bawling your eyes out."

He turned his attention to the gym and then smiled at Spencer.

"I think you should battle first." He said. "I know you can do it."

Spencer's face burned bright red as she listened to Lukas, "I thought you wandered off, like you usually do." He said. "Remember the time you got lost on Route 116? Took me all day to find you sitting under a tree bawling your eyes out."

"I was six! SIX YEARS OLD!" she exclaimed, turning away and pouting. Her eyes glanced from left-to-ride occasionally, then shifted back over to Lukas.

"I think you should battle first." He said. "I know you can do it."

"Eeeh? Me? Are you just saying that so you can make fun of me if I make a mistake?" she grumbled, facing him again and pouting. The warmth from her face had calmed down and now is was only a pink dusk that scattered across her cheek. She sighed, "If I have to..." she grumbled. She looked at Lukas again before looking up at the gym. She smiled then continued to walk forward, the automatic doors sliding open to allow her in. A burst of cool air blasted against her cheek, making a chill shiver run up her spine. Spencer giggled, "That felt good~!"

Spencer looked around the gym in awe. What she remembered when she was young, the first part of the gym was a simple, small museum, but then there was a place in the back where she was forbidden to go, until she was a trainer, her mother told her. Still holding Marshtomp, Spencer walked through the museum and neared the end, where a trainer sat.

"You two challenging the gym leader?" he asked, grinning while throwing a pokeball gently in his palm. "If so, you gotta battle me first!"

Lukas laughed and nodded.

"Yeah, that's exactly the reason." He said. "I like to tease you, it's pretty funny."

The door to the gym opened and revealed the gym, and it's cooled air. At the front stood a statue with the names of the trainers who had defeated Roxanne, and out of the few names that where inscribed on the rock. Ash, May, and a few others. Lukas smirked as he envisioned his name on the statue below the others, and followed Spencer to the end of the museum and the beginning of the Gym where a trainer with a blue ball cap sat, waiting for challengers. He perked up and pulled a pokeball from his belt and began throwing it up and down in the air.

"You two challenging the gym leader?" he asked.. "If so, you gotta battle me first!"

Lukas smiled condescendingly at the boy and retrieved Combusken's pokeball, and nodded.

"I'll go easy on you, then." He said. "Combi, it's time to shine."

He tossed the ball out and it opened, and Combusken landed on the ground in a fighting stance.

"Combusken!" It said, awaiting orders from Lukas.

The trainer sent out a Geodude and Spencer stepped back to watch the battle. Kipple was still in her arms so she returned him, "Kip, be in your ball for now? Save up your energy for the main battle, ok?" she smiled. She glanced up to the bird curled up on her head, "Ciel, would you like to go back in your ball?" An angry chirp was her reply. Spencer laughed.

"Alright. Alright." she turned her attention back to the battle, grinning. "Let the battle begin~!" she called out, acting like a referee. The male trainer glanced over to her, sending her a smile as he commanded the first move.

"Geodude, tackle attack!"

"Combi, leap out of the way and use Brick Break!" Lukas ordered. "Take him out in one hit!"

"Combusken!" Combi replied, waiting for the Geodude to near him.

Geodude charged forward to tackle, and Combi waited for what seemed like forever, bouncing back and forth from one claw to the other. When Geodude neared, Combi leaped into the air and brought his wing down on the Geodude's head, knocking him out in one hit. The Geodude muttered a soft Geodude and fainted, falling over. Lukas shot Spencer a glance and gave her a smile.

"That's how you do a Pokemon battle, Spence. I hope you're taking notes."

"'That's how you do a Pokemon battle, Spence. I hope you're taking notes.'" Spencer mocked, bursting into laughing, "I know how to battle you doofus. And we both know I'm better than you at it as well," she winked. She grabbed Lukas's hand waving a goodbye to the trainer, "Thanks for the battle, trainer! Come on Lukie~!" she smiled, excited to have your gym battle.

"No problem, friends. You are an awesome battler. Good luck," the trainer smiled, patting Lukas on the shoulder before he got pulled away.

"Right, just like all the times I wiped the floor with you?" Lukas asked, teasing her. "You even lost our first battle, and you cried afterwards."

Lukas allowed Spencer to grab his hand and lead him to the next trainer, but not before waving goodbye to the trainer.

"Thanks man." He said.

Spencer fumed, blushing bright red, "Shut up!" the brunette cried out, crossing her arms. Ciel, seeing her trainer distressed chirped angrily and pecked Lukas harshly on the forehead.

The female trainer laughed, thanking her bird pokemon before walking onwards, no more trainers interrupting her as she continued on. She ignored Lukas, crossing her arms and pouting as she walked on. "Stupid boys," she grumbled under her breath and Ciel flew onto Spencer's head and curled herself up. "I'm not a bad trainer, am I Ciel?" Ciel chriped in reply, shaking her head. "Really?" Spencer asked. Ciel nodded. "D'awww thanks Ciel," Spencer giggled, picking up her Swablu and cuddling with her.

Lukas laughed, and elbowed her softly on the arm, until he was pecked by Ciel, which left a red mark on his forehead. He grumbled and rubbed the spot on his forehead while walking with Spencer.

"I didn't mean that you were a bad trainer, Spence." He said. "I just meant that you're not as good as I am."

He smiled, obviously teasing her and continued onward toward whomever was next in line.

"Says who?" she asked, grumbling. She walked up the stairs, pouting until her face twisted into awe. In front of her was a large, rocky battlefield and waiting on the other side was Roxanne. She had her hands on her hips and a gentle smile.

"Hello," the gym leader greeted, "I am Roxanne, the Rustboro City Pokémon Gym Leader. I became a Gym Leader so that I may apply in battle all that I’ve learned at the Pokémon Trainers’ School." Roxanne introduced.

"O-oh, hello. I'm Spencer. Spencer Bishop and that's Gregory. Lukas Gregory actually," she smiled, gesturing to her rival. "Nice to meet you..." Spencer smiled shyly. Roxanne smiled.

"You must be a new challenger," the brunette said. "Or challengers?"

Spencer shook her head, "I'll be battling you!" she smiled. She clipped a pokeball off her belt and enlarged it, grinning.

"Is that so? Do you mind kindly demonstrating how you battle with your pokemon?" Roxanne smiled, holding her own pokeball in her palm. Spencer grinned.

"Of course! H-" Spencer shook her head. She didn't want to embrass herself in front of Roxanne if Horsie didn't listen to her. "Kipple, let's battle!" Spencer called out, throwing her pokeball into the air. The Marshtomp appeared on the field, grinning as he stood in battle stance.

"A Marshtomp, hm? Geodude!"

Lukas waved at Roxanne from the sidelines, and gave her a confident smile.

"Geodude's a rock pokemon, Spence. Use as much water type moves as you can, should be able to destroy her." He said, encouraging her. "Give it your best, Spence."

He gave her a smile, and a thumbs up, then turned and walked towards the sidelines at the middle of the field to referee, and clapped his hands.

"Begin!" He ordered.

Roxanne smiled at Spencer and gave her a short bow.

"Please try your best!" She shouted as encouragement. "Geodude, use Rock Tomb!"

Geodude nodded and threw rocks at Marshtomp, in an attempt to attack.

(He missed)

"Kip, dodge and attack with Mud Bomb!" Spencer called out, her eyes glinting.

The Marshtomp easily dodge the rocks, bouncing from the rocks implanted on the field. He used his light blue flippers to form a ball of mud until he effortlessly swung it at the Geodude.

(It hit~)

Roxanne's Geodude reeled back, affected by the Marshtomp's attack. She knew that ground type attack where super effective against Rock.

"Geodude..." The Geodude said, in a daze

Roxanne had to act quick, her Geodude was on the verge of fainting, especially if Spencer's Pokemon got another hit in. She reached into her bag and pulled a potion from her bag, ran up the Geodude and sprayed the Geodude in with the medicine. The Geodude shook his head and punched his open hand. It was healed and ready to carry on it's fight.

"Geodude!" It exclaimed, full of renewed vigor.

"Nice work, Spencer." Roxanne complimented. "I know I won't have to go easy on you now, prepare yourself."

Lukas fist pumped discreetly. He was rooting for Spence, but he'd never say that out loud. He knew she had want it took to be a great trainer, just as he did.

"I was hoping you were going to say that!" Spencer smiled, before glancing over to her Marshtomp. Her starter pokemon made eye contact with her, smiling as he was ready for his next attack or his opponent's attack. "It's our turn now! Kipple, water gun!" she called out.

The Marshtomp nodded, turning back to the Geodude and opening his mouth, "Maarshtomp!" he cried out, blasting the water gun from his mouth.

[dice]3916[/dice]

The water gun attack hit Roxanne's Geodude square in the face, and propelled him back into one of the rocks that stood on the battlefield. It shattered into several smaller rocks and Geodude muttered a soft Geodude before fainting. Roxanne nodded her approval, retrieved Geodude's pokeball and held it out at arm's length. A red beam shot from the pokeball's center, hit Geodude, and pulled back into the pokeball. Roxanne clicked it onto her belt and retrieved a second pokeball.

"Nosepass! It's your turn!" She shouted, tossing the pokeball out.

The ball opened and out came a Nosepass, who called out it's name and stood there waiting for orders.

"Nosepass, use Rock Tomb!" She ordered.

Nosepass clapped it's arms together, and rocks shot out of the ground, headed towards Marshtomp.

[dice]3920[/dice]

Spencer didn't have to call out to her pokemon because Marshtomp evaded the attack with ease. Grinning, Spencer jumped up in excitement, "Great job, Kippy! Now, weaken it with Water Gun!" the brunette trainer called out, pointing at the Nosepass. Kipple cheered along with his trainer before preparing a Water Gun, grinning.

(( wow that was really short ))

[dice]3921[/dice]

The water attack hit the Nosepass, knocking it back a little. Roxanne grit her teeth in anticipation, and gave Spencer a smile.

"Good job, Spencer." She said. "Nosepass, use Rock Tomb again!"

Nosepass shook his head and took a few steps forward before attacking again.

(Sorry, I didn't know how long you wanted it to go on for. Spencer is really wrecking Roxanne though, haha.)

(I swear if I roll a 1 next, I'll know something is wrong.)
