As for mystery writing. Good luck, it's hard to do since rps can be a bit meta. You might want a central npc that your players can experience the story through. Since if the npc is a bumbling know nothing fool, the the players will have to discern what information is reliable and what isn't.

Foreshadowing is a must, when coming up with the antagonist abad possible red herring

Thanks. Ah, yes, I get to talk about writing my RP here. It can be quite hard indeed, especially n the format of rp, so I like to keep it simple, I got plenty of npcs at my hand to play around with, and one particular NPC which guide them through everycase.

Believe it or not, I got PLENTY of foreshadowing and symbolism hidden all around my rp, but I didn't realize they can be quite vague to the rper at times.

Well yea, mystery books are easier because you've full control of the character's motivations and time spend inferring clues and what not. Being explicit is an rp sin and a virtue. Explicitity sometimes takes away from the subtleness that writing can have. While at the same time it helps build a world for your players to use and interact with. So mystery rps is basically you shooting yourself in the foot.

Ahh well my knowledge of literary devices is a bit shakey. I'm capable of doing research on something g such as cliches, but never took the time to do so and would not be able to recognize them naturally.

Because a cliche is thought of as a bad thing, but something as fundamental as a hero in a hero's tale in a cliche. You can't have stories without cliches and as such, if you're purposefully playing on a cliche to guide them along. You best inquire if they know what cliches are before going forward. Which again is a blessing and a curse. Say too much and you'll ruin the surprise. Say too little and they may not geddit

Thanks! I luckily live on high ground, but
the roads are flooded and electricity is going on
