Fantasy A new start(Ebony Rose)

"Yes we have to go to class. It's the only way to give us, give you a legitimacy in the world. A cover that the normal people won't be able to question" Melody said lightly whacking Vio on the head lightly again. "If you do this for me, if you do well..." she shifted her position just enough to wrap her arms around Vio "I'm sure that I can think of a way to reward you. Within just reasons of course" she said with a playful purring tease.

"Eww!"

"Oh hush Jewel, you'll understand when you have your own boyfriend or girlfriend" Melody said nuzzling against Vio's cheek.

Vio sighed in defeat, accepting that she’d have to attend classes anyway. “Fine, I’ll go. But I wanna get to visit the amusement park during break, risk of passing out or not.” She huffed. Of course, she would want something as childish as that. However it did make sense in light of her health problems everything else.

However, there was still a factor of being that the woman did miss things due to her work and health.

"Make a sincere effort to do well, try to get at least one A this semester and be a good patient & I'll see about that." She actually didn't expect Vio to get an A, not that she didn't think Vio wasn't capable of it, but an effort that was truly sincere would please her enough to count it as an 'A for effort A'. The pout on Vio's face was hard to resist kissing if only to turn it into a tiny smile so she didn't resist. "I only want to see my girl smiling around me" she whispered against the redheads lips. Pulling back she let Vio go and hopped to her feet. "We have enough time to get to the campus if we leave now... Wait, where are my school things?!" She looked around in a panic not knowing where her bag with all her books and stuff was.

Vio did blush from the affection, grabbing the keys to the sports car as she answered. “With my stuff in the study. It’s on the way so we can just grab everything as we’re leaving.” She explained before waiting at the hall entrance. Her grades had never been worth bragging about really. Unlike her adopted ward, she was no genius nor could she even claim being good in any particular subject either. Considering how the schedule looked to be for the semester, she had doubts that she would be getting anything much higher than a C if lucky. Though sometimes a low B did materialize.

Jewel rolled her eyes watching Melody freak out and headed towards her room in the safe house. No need to waste time with her older sister-slash-adopted-mother going to school for the day. "Now the thing to do is ever so subtly nudge them along. They feel it even if they can't say it yet, Melody that is. It's in her heart, the mind just needs to accept" she said wto herself.

Melody sighed in relief. While she disagreed with many a things from her family, the importance of education was one thing that she put her effort sincerely into. "I probably sound so dumb worrying about school after what happened yesterday" she said thumbing a strand of hair from her face. "It's important, something we both know whether school means an actual school or it means what we learn from life, but.." She shook her head. "I'm ranting, sorry. If we're going to be together I just want us to both do as best we can. We owe it to ourselves and each other. We owe it to Jewel. She's a genius and I don't mean her intelligence alone. She needs not just someone strong enough to protect her but smart enough to help her plan for the future. Her future, whatever and wherever it may take her."

“You’re fine. School is different for everyone so I understand. It just happens to be a huge snore for me though.” Vio couldn’t avoid sighing as she walked with Melody. “I always tried, honestly. Even had my brother tutor me when he could but I never was able to get anything.” She pouted at the thought. In the study, she grabbed her stuff and let her companion get anything else needed. “Just never could sit down because even then I had a feeling of needing to run at any moment.’

"I can make it interesting if it'd make it easier for you to get it." Melody followed with her stuff in tow. "Some people don't learn the same way you know? Some people learn by listening. Others by watching. Some by doing. If we can figure out how you learn I can help you in your studies." When they got to the car she hopped in the passenger seat and buckled up with a thoughtful look in her eyes. "Maybe you're a kinetic learner, learn by doing. Even if you energy levels are diminished by the pills, you have this aura of anxious energy. Like you need to move. It'd make sense but a little bit of observation will tell us. There's a little combined pastry-cafe by the campus. We can get something to eat over there after classes get out for the morning." Her eyes darted to the sides momentarily looking for threats that might be against her or Vio. Seeing none she relaxed and leaned back against the headrest.

“Sounds yummy. Probably will need to get a sugar boost after classes anyway.” Vio acknowledged as she got situated in the driver’s seat. Afterwards, the vehicle soon went into motion towards town. “Course I did see Cerberus signed me up for art this round. Maybe he figured it was better than half the other stuff I’d be stuck doing.” She laughed.

"Art huh? Are you going to paint me like one of your French girls?" Melody asked with a sly grin tugging at the corner of her lips. It was a dated joke but it was funny to her even if the context brought to mind a sexual one with how the movie Titanic presented it. Not that she was even considering a sexual kind of anything with Vio. Not yet anyways, they were barely together quite frankly. "I couldn't draw to save my life. I could write you a story, use all the flowery words in all the worlds that exist to paint you an image in your mind but I couldn't actually draw you something beautiful with my own hands."

“Blame my aristocratic background. My brother could play violin so well, he was considered a modern Beethoven.” She chuckled, finding some amusement in the idea. “Me? Painting either shocks or just outright eh. Depends on my moods.”

"Shocks or outright eh? Don't sell yourself short. Art is all perspective you know. Beauty is as shocking as it is mundane. Look at you" Melody said leaning her head against the glass of the window. "What inspires your artistic muse anyway?" Her eyes glittered in the reflection off the glass. "I can only imagine it's the people and things you love. Things you find beautiful in the world. Things and people you want to protect" she said twirling a small bit of hair around her finger absently.

“I paint what everyone else either hides or doesn’t see. Mother used to call it a sort of second sight.” Vio lightly blushed as she ruffled Melody’s hair affectionately. “The ugliness in society’s highest circles wasn’t what other people wanted to see even though it was painted with such perfection. They didn’t want to see the true colors of humanity at all because often those beneath them were the true nobility.”

"What do you see when you look at me then? What do you see that everyone else doesn't?" Melody asked with a cute pout at having her hair ruffled. She wasn't one to worry about her looks but having her hair ruffled was not something that she was not fond of. It was an endearing thing for younger girls like Jewel or even a lolita type, though she only saw that in petite asian girls, but not for her. She considered the fact of what Vio said. She knew the richest of the rich could and often were the biggest monsters. The resources at their disposal made next to nothing out of their reach. A part of wondered if what Vio said could be startling or frightening to any degree.

“The valkyrie. Suffering is turned into strength and valor that even the gods are to acknowledge.” Vio answered, smiling somewhat. It really was a startling observation that she could see her surroundings in such ways. Taking the world around her and painting or even drawing it into various mythology with enough accuracy to make people uncomfortable probably was something that isolated her from others. “You are able to find others that share the calling and aid their ascension.”

Melody was taken aback by what Vio said. She didn't see herself in such a light like that. Yes, she suffered at the hands of oppressive and religiously conservative parents. Yes, she took her suffering and tried to use it as a source of strength to help others but it was a romantic version of how she was as a person. "Ascension to what?" she asked with a tilt of her head to look at Vio. She wondered how the mythos of the world seemed to inspire Vio's way of expressing herself artistically. It was also a question that raised if this mythos inspired artistic expression was a part to how Vio views the people in her life.

Vio thought about it for a few moments, likely from her need for honestly yet being accurate as well. “A better self. Whether the birth of more seekers and guides or aiding in the winding road of self discovery, you are the ones who play vital roles in the lives of others.” She explained after getting her thoughts together. “Lesser angels and some types of the fae also are considered to have similar roles.”

Melody pondered the explanation given to her with a sense of wonder on her face. It was fantastical and superstitious in many regards but it made a lot of sense if you viewed it in an abstract way. "It doesn't take an angel to help others find themselves or to be of the charitable sort. Good people exist in the world. Pure actions can be just as good in nature dark or grey" she said with a slightly furrowed brow. "Even the fallen angels can be the catalyst for broad change or guides to what one needs to change their lives personal path. Look at you, many would probably call you a demon or a monster but those who can learn, who see what happens when they stand in the wrong path, learn to adjust their behavior or risk on being the wrong end of you."

“I follow the path of Hades. Ours is a long treacherous way yet it’s not so bad in the underworld. Punishment is harsh yes but a wrong step just as harsh to us.” Her odd manner of speaking was finally making some sense though. Occasionally she had moments of looking at the world through the eyes of the mythical god king, seeing for herself as he surely would have the vices and darkness called home. “I don’t really mind it anymore though.”

"Heavy lies the crown" Melody said with a thoughtful time as her eyes closed. "Or something like that right?" Any chance of comment was taken as the car in front of slammed into the back of the car in front of them rear ended the car in front it. "Idiots couldn't drive if you shot them in the ass with an intelligence dart" she muttered with a scowl. Her eyes opened with a roll as she felt the car jerk to a stop before it wrecked. If the car wrecked it was bound to put Vio in a rather sour mood since it was supposed to a be one of a kind car with no plans to rebuild it if it was demolished. "Vio, can I ask you a question?" she asked shifting her gaze to glance at the redhead.

“Go ahead. I don’t bite without permission.” Vio teased, skillfully passing the wreck, dodging a few cop cars and the racing ambulance without even having to hit the sidewalk. A few people watching might had to check their pants but they weren’t in the danger zone. She at least kept her somewhat humored mood thankfully.

"Well, when you think about and imagine the word love- by the word love I do mean truly madly in love- what comes to mind? I mean, the first thing that comes to mind for me is a woman. Kind, beautiful, someone who accepts me for who I am- flaws and all. Could be of any skin color, creed, nationality- it doesn't matter to me in the slightest. A sense of humor and able to hold a good conversation with. It's not much and many would say I could get all that & more from a guy but there's something about women you know?" Melody said with a kind smile. All the boxes were checked by Vio. She was beautiful, smart, funny, sweet and kind- everything she wanted and listed off. "So what does that mental image look like to you?"

“Warmth and colors so vibrant one could go blind. Perhaps a bit of sweet and sour yet still wonderful all the same.” Vio described a delight of the senses, abstract wonders more so than anything physical. It made more sense than when one first met the unusual woman yet she apparently viewed the world through a very different lens than anyone else.

Melody tried to piece together what Vio's answer meant but couldn't quite figure it out after thinking nearly ten minutes on it. "Um, I hope that it doesn't offend you when I ask Vio but what does that mean in plain language?" she asked looking confused as she scratched her cheek. Maybe Vio meant the same thing that she did when she spoke describing the redhead, an abstract sort of view the redhead viewed her? Shaking her head a little to hear Vio's explanation she saw the campus nearing quickly. She didn't want to wait to hear the explanation but it was quickly looking like she just might have to wait.

“Someone who gives the same rush as a sensual overload yet the warmth of a fire in winter, a friend when needed and a forever soulmate to dance with to the sounds everyone never hears.” Vio probably had no way to describe her answer in less odd terms yet she clearly understood how different she really was since the woman seemed to usually avoid such questions. Perhaps as a child, this was part of the reason her father was so cold towards her. Schools certainly wouldn’t have been very kind.

Melody's face screwed up just a touch since that made far more than the last explanation. It was also a lot more romantic like the explanation that Vio viewed her as a valkyrie. "Does anyone in particular come to mind?" she asked with a subdued hope. The kiss they shared had felt really, really good and it was selfish to admit that she liked the feeling of Vio in her arms; the feeling of being so close to the redhead that the smell of her shampoo wafted up into her nose leaving a pleasant memory. It was like a high, at least that was the way it seemed like from what people described being on high felt like and doing drugs since she herself never did anything of the sort.
