Alastaer Durrandon
Second of his Name, the Young Stag, Dragon's Ward
9d0d9582b7612d171ce23186e20741f2.jpg

Alastaer looks a world apart from the somewhat portly child that left Storm's End in the clutches of the Dragon King. The blood of the First Men runs fecund and red through the young Stag's veins; eight-and-a-half spans tall, broad of chest and shoulder, and supple with lean, steely sinew. Alastaer casts an imposing visage with a stern brow and the stormy eyes of his mother and his father's sledgehammer jaw, strong nose, and imperious cheekbones. Though he may be what many could consider conventionally handsome, his perpetually fearsome demeanor can be hard to approach, and is known to put many at ill-ease.

As a ward of the Unifier, the Conqueror, Alastaer is expected to look his best. His appearance and bearing are a reflection of the royal family, an extension of their will and influence. As such, Alastaer is often garbed in the latest fashions, painstakingly selected for him by court tailors to paint an image of a warrior-prince born of the First Men and the salt of Westrosi soil, prospering under the fostering care of the new regime. While not of valyrian steel, the longsword at Alastaer's side is still of castle-forge craftsmanship, readily functional for practical and parade uses. One would find that Alastaer's hands are thick with callouses, lending testimony to the young lord's affinity with the weapon.

Full Name :
Alastaer Durrandon, second of his name

Ser, Lord, "the Young Stag", Dragon's Ward

Age :
18 years; born in 12 BC, seeing his 13th name-day during the midst of the war, in the custody of the Dragon King.

Family :
Alastaer is the firstborn son of Arlan Durrandon and Freya Tarth with two younger siblings, making him heir to the House. He is unwed and without children.
80d6b3c2ddc4bdc14db9898bc358d2a5.png

NOTE : A Family Tree is always nice! If you want to make one, use FamilyEcho.

Personality :
At first glance, many have disregarded Alastaer as brooding, slow-witted young man. He isn't one to run his mouth like so many of high breeding do, instead keeping his thoughts to himself whilst being observant and attentive, looking over the room with the countenance of a shadowcat observing a herd for the weakest link. When he does speak in open company, Alastaer mulls his words thoroughly, perchance to the point of agonizing over-thought. Despite his predatory bearing, Alastaer is slow to anger. He's had the last six years to temper himself in the company of dragons. Outbursts of sound and fury would only cause him greater suffering, and so he has built an ironclad armor of will around his mind and spirit. While he may retain a mask of calm, however, it is always his eyes that will betray him first.

Among those he trusts, which is is a dreadfully minuscule council, Alastaer allows himself to speak with a modicum of freedom, but will never actually say what he's actually feeling or thinking. The last time he acted on impulse, he was carried away from his family. After disciplinary corrections by the Dragons, their Maesters, and their Master-at-Arms, Alastaer resolved himself to only be his trust self among family. This has left pain untended, trusts broken, and a beautiful singing voice gone unheard.

For the first years of Alastaer's life, it was as one might expect of a king's son. He wanted for nothing more than the approval of his Lord-Father and Lady-Mother, he played soldier with his siblings and tended the lessons of the House Maester with occasional reluctance. He loved to ride through the green of Storm's End on horseback, basking in the love of his family and the subjects of his Lord-Father. All was good, as it should be.

When word reached them of the dragons, Alastaer could not comprehend the dread that colored his mother's porcelain skin. What a wonder they must be! How he would love to see one! Such as wishes are wont to do, Alastaer would have his wish, but at a price that would be more than he could bear. Ravens carrying news of the dragon's conquest came with alarming frequency, and being the heroic bastion that was Lord Arlan Durrandon, he rode out to meet these would-be usurpers. No matter how mighty the dragons, surely they would be no match for Alastaer's Lord-Father! Oh, how he couldn't wait to hear the bard's ballads about Lord Durrandon's triumphant victory!

His Lady-Mother's fear, and her reasoning for such, calcified when a great flying reptile perched atop their home, an imperious man of silver hair astride it. The fearsome bellow of the monstrous beast turned Alastaer's guts to ice water. He was the man of the house, his Lord-Father said as much when he left for the Blackwater... so, what would Arlan do in this position? He would stand resolout and defend his family! Alastaer stood before the Dragon King with a decorative sword pulled from the wall, blunt and trembling, while Alastaer himself stood in a spreading puddle of his own dread. It was his Lady-Mother, in her tempered wisdom and maternal drive, that saved them... but it was not enough for the Dragon King.

House Durrandon was proud and mighty, and needed to be held in check, lest Lord Arlan take up arms against the Dragon King once more. So it was that Alastaer was taken as a ward by the House Targaryen, a guest in a gilded cage in order to ensure the compliance of the former Storm King. Brought along with the Targaryen forces for the duration of their conquest, he saw firsthand the horrors of war, breaking down the sheltered idealism of a child with the harsh sledgehammer of reality. For the most part, he kept to the accommodations provided by his captors, curled into a ball to strangle back the tears of heartache and shame, to stifle the tremors of terror that shook his limbs. He couldn't even muster the will to try and run away. If he did, that flying beast would surely reduce his family to ashes.

Under the watchful care of the Targaryens in the years that followed, Alastaer was educated, clothed and nurtured; groomed by the trio of silver-haired conquerors. Manhood took to Alastaer nicely, filling him out rapidly, much to the chagrin of his tailors. Tactics, language, history, and martial arts were all drilled into him, intended to be a liasion between the Targaryens and the Westrosi peoples who had yet to accept their new overlords. In truth, Alastaer didn't quite accept them, himself, but he did not have the luxury of choice. Over time, as his mind flooded with the drives and impulses of a young man, he found himself developing an eagerness to please, if only to see a smile from Lady Targaryen thrown his way or feel her eyes linger upon him like his did upon her.

Other :
Alastaer was never much of an archer, but he's an artist with javelin and spear.
He drills daily with the Targaryen Masters-at-Arms, building a reputation as a daunting swordsman.
Alastaer enjoys horseback riding, hunting, Northerner brandy and Dornish wine.
He takes great joy in singing and dancing as well, but the former of which he keeps tightly under wraps.
While Alastaer is still learning, he has passable literacy in High Valerian.

Arlan Durrandon 'The Last Storm'

Titles : Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, Lord of Storm's End, Ser

20190825_204155.jpg

Appearance : Arlan's once black hair and beard are now mostly grey. His hair has some length to it, tusselled by the wind more often than not. His skin rough and blemished from years of exposure to the elements and storms that constantly batter the lands that take their name from them. The rest of his features are equally hard and thickset, it is said that the flint and rock of the Stormlands is prevalent in his blood, a mark of the Durrandon lineage compared to the fair Lions or Reachmen to the west.

He stands at a tall 6 foot, and is a powerfully built man, broad of shoulder and thick of neck and bicep. in his youth he was a fearsome warrior and a regular jouster. Whilst he may not be quite the warrior he was in his prime he has not yet gone to fat and is still more than capable (and willing) to stick a young Lord or squire on their arse in the sparring ring.

Age : 44 (Born 39 BC)

Family:

80d6b3c2ddc4bdc14db9898bc358d2a5.png

Wife: Freya Tarth

Children:

Alastaer 18

Steffon 11

Arlayah 7

(FAMILY TREE INCOMING)

Personality :

Pride and stoicism, the two pillars that support Arlan. His lineage can be traced back beyond the Andals to the First Men, to the original Storm Kings who held sway and ruled over the Stormlands and beyond. 5 years ago he was his own man, a king, effectively a God in the eyes of his subjects, answering to no one, accountable to none but the Seven, and having he power of life and death to those who he ruled. The coming of the Targareyns changed all of this. He has withdrawn into himself somewhat, his pride dented, and his stoicism pushed to the extremes as he attempts to keep his anger, hurt and fury in check, the unbridled fury of the storm locked within him, it occasionally comes out in outbursts which can be triggered by relatively minor occurrences. Since Durran Godsgrief the Storm Kings had ruled, and it was under Arlan that their crown had been lost. This has changed him immeasurably, this sense of failing the House and all those who came before him. Whereas in his youth he held the moniker the Laughing Storm for his jovial and convivial nature, that boy is dead. In his place is an older, tired and angrier man, trying to find a reason for the change in circumstances, someone to blame for their loss.

Arlan is quite spartan in his taste, normally being found wearing little decorative or ostentatious apparel, forgoing the flashier trends of the younger lords, more likely to be found in more simple garments or armour, the crowned stag of his house normally as far as it goes for decoration. This has given him a reputation of being something of a miser, however he is still one to spend where necessary, not forcing his own more simple ways upon guests who attend him and Storm’s End, happy to put on more lavish feasts for them.

Biography :

Arlan was the first and only male son of his father, King Boros Durrandon second of his name, and so from a young age was groomed for the throne, sitting in on Council meetings and when the King passed judgement. He was always known as an adventurous and outgoing child and young adult. Preferring to be sparring with the Castellan or out hunting in the woods than being cooped up inside. In fact it was at his urging that he accompanied his father the King on a tour of the Dornish Marches, the lands to the south that acted as a buffer zone between the Storm Lands, Dorne and the Reach, and was often a point of conflict between the 3 nations. The thought of bringing his so far only son and heir with him on a journey around these lands made Boros pale, but Arlan was as persistent as he was stubborn, and soon had his way, visiting the castles of Blackhaven and Harvest Hall, something the Dondarrions and Selmys would remember for years to come, young princes were rarely seen in this disputed territory due to the fear of their fathers, Dornish bandits were always keen on the prize of a highborn.

His formative years were spent learning leadership, statecraft, and honing his own personal combat abilities (the last of which he took to quite happily). At the age of 22 he was wedded to Freya Tarth, as a means of solidifying the bond between the Durrandons and their vessels. Whilst originally seen as a political match the marriage was by all accounts a happy one, and after 4 years the Durrandon line was once again reaffirmed in its strength, with the birth of a son, Alastaer. The birth could not have come at a more opportune time, for within 6 months, King Boros was dead, he had been ill for some time, and the Maester reckoned that with the birth of a healthy grandson he had allowed himself to pass from this world. And so as the year closed and at the age of 23, King Arlan, 3rd of his name, took the throne, ruling from the Dornish Marches to the south, to the Blackwater Rush in the north. For nearly 16 years he ruled the StormLands without real peril or hardship, aside from the standard squabbling and skirmishes which often broke out between the Seven Kingdoms, these primarily being raids from the Dornish from the south, and as always conflict with the Hoares over dominion over the Riverlands, which had once been held by the Storm Kings, but had fallen to the Kings of the Isles and Rivers some generations before. He was generally a good ruler though, maintaining peace in the heart of the StormLands and being a relatively successful military leader. The coming of the Dragons changed everything however.

The Targaryen landing on the Blackwater Rush was little more than a brazen act of aggression and invasion. There was no formal declaration of war preceding the event, and the only word came after, the foreign interlopers demanding the seven kings to bend the knee. It took a brave envoy to convey such a message within the heart of the great drum keep of Storm’s End, Arlan simmering with stunned range at such a brazen demand. Arlan declared that he would give this would be conqueror an answer in person, and at the same time evict this fair haired squatter from his lands and send him back to his smoking crag of a home on Dragonstone, and so there in the presence of the envoy called his banners, and bade the Targaryen envoy return to his master. In little time Arlan was preparing to depart Storm’s End at the head of an army 20,000 strong. He left behind his wife and three children, expecting the campaign to be short and to return victorious, marching north from Storm’s End, there would be little chance for the Targaryens to outflank his army, and they would have to meet him head on with their inferior numbers. And so they marched north, morale high and the banners of the crowned stag unfurled in wind, the rampant stags appearing to be eager to make to battle. This continued until they made camp at Bronzegate, their final stop before the plan to make battle. As dusk descended a raven arrived, dark wings bearing dark words, Storm’s End, the near impregnable fortress which had survived even the coming of the Andals, had fallen within an hour. The Targaryens had descended not with men or ships, but with their dragons, over the formidable curtain wall, straight to the keep itself. Even with a full compliment of men, the garrison would have had little chance of holding, and the Queen, for the sake of her children, has surrendered both the castle, and by default, the crown of the Storm Kings, with his capital lost, Arlan knew that victory had already slipped from his fingers. The march south could not have been more different, gone were the songs and music, in its place was a shocked and heavy silence, hovering over the army. They were still some miles from Storm’s End when The Conqueror descended upon them, perched atop his dragon. Arlan dismounted and met him before his army, wearily sinking to one knee, the stags once rampant and loose on the banners flying above the army dropping as the wind died. Removing from his head the crown of the Storm Kings, and presenting it to The Conqueror, the first of the seven to fall, shame and humiliation burning his cheeks as the very symbol of his family’s legacy and power was taken from him. Admittedly he was surprised as he was told to stand, still in possession of his holdings and vassals (save for the Blackwater Rush), not as a king, but as Lord Paramount of the StormLands. There would be no returning to Storm’s End yet, Aegon had need of 20,000 Stormlanders now under his Lord Paramount’s command.

What followed passed almost as a blur. Accompanying the Targareyens and their dragons, and making up the bulk of their initial forces, he had a first hand view of the destruction of Oldtown and the ancient line of the Gardeners, ancestral foes that the Durrandons had clashed with for centuries, wiped out to a man within a single day, along with them the mightiest city in all of Westeros, the flames reflected in his eyes and the eyes of his men, the crackling of flames and the screams of the dying echoing about his ears, and the only thought passing his mind was thanks that Storm’s End and his family had not met this same fate, even as another part of him wondered whether it would have been better to go out in a blaze of glory and resistance. He followed the King to Highgarden, his lip wrinkling as the Tyrells were raised from mere stewards to a level akin to his own, his (admittedly not too forceful) protestations falling upon deaf ears. It was the final campaign however that truly opened his eyes to the power of the dragons and Aegon. The Battle of the Burning Ford. On one side of his forces stood the army of jumped up stewards. To the other stood the forces of the various Riverlords, cobbled under various banners, willingly come to the Targaryens after centuries of rule by others, Hoare, Durrandon and others, in the Targaryens they had the offer of one of their own ruling them. Opposite stood the last 2 of 7, the fury of the North and the Vale, the dire wolf and the falcon, both fearsome creatures, hunters both and apex predators. But what hope did such creatures have against dragons. There was little actual combat, the combined might of 3 dragons saw to that, Arlan and his men were little more spectators to the victory, but perhaps this was by design, a final reminder to those who had bent the knee about what rebellion would result in. The Falcon's wings were clipped, and the Direwolf was sent limping back to its lair. A short lived and abortive war with Dorne followed, but even without it Aegon had subjugated the vast majority of Westeros, and Arlan knew that Dorne would surely follow soon.

He returned to Storm's End a changed man. Sullen, older, brooding. He spoke little to his wife, part of him still unable to look past the wife that it was her who surrendered Storm's End, even as he knew that there had logically been no other option for her. He returned to find his heir was gone, an honoured ward of the Targaryens according the explanation. Clever really, if the thought of a dragon burning you in your keep wasn't enough to make you toe the line, then there was also the fact that the dragon would devour your heir long before its wings came into sight. There he remains, whilst the King has no need of him he remains in his keep, the Storm King without a kingdom and a man trying to find his place in a new world, the Last Storm.

Full Name: King Aemon I Targaryen
Titles: King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm. Shield of his People and King of all of Westeros. Lord of Dragonstone.
Age: 29
Family:

1567343794501.png

Biography:
Considering the rather remarkable position in which Aemon Targaryen would find himself in during later life, the circumstances of his birth can only be described as completely uninteresting. His father was the reigning Lord of Dragonstone, Aegon Targaryen, whose own ambitions of conquest and glory had proved wholly untenable after being rebuffed by the dragons that were his family’s legacy, a failure to either hatch nor tame the great winged beasts of Valyria leaving him a broken man, both in spirit, and in body after receiving a significant burning from the dragon Elenar, which had once been his father’s. Though ‘Aegon the Eggless’ (a moniker by which he was mockingly referred to mark his greatest shame), maintained a stalwart interest in the politics of Westeros and the goings on of the Seven Kingdoms, a departure from the Targaryen’s previously more Essos-centric view of the world and the underlying dream of a restoration of the freehold, he would never be able to live his dream of taking to dragonback and soaring across the Narrow Sea. The infeasibility of this great dream did not mark it’s death however, as although Aegon himself proved a stark contrast to the image of the conqueror, he knew that he still had a large part to play in forging a new destiny for his family and the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
A large youth, broad of shoulder, and strong of frame, Aemon Targaryen held many of the characteristics that once would consider favourable in an heir. By any account her should have excelled as a warrior and a swordsman, and his mild manners gave other lords a favourable outlook upon the boy, though his one most cursed floor was his lack of ambition. With his own failings so obvious, Aegon the Eggless wanted a son who could be everything that he could not, a conquerer of great renown and unparalleled prowess, though what he received was a boy more interested in playing knight than playing King, and with a greater affinity for playing dolls with his sister than plotting battles and acting the statesman.
Like any father concerned with the trajectory of his son, Aegon proved to be a harsh taskmaster, drilling Aemon on all the things he thought most important in a youth, and offering nothing but a bloody beating when things went in a direction of which he did not approve. He instilled a sense of fear in the lad that would motivate Aemon to want to impress his father, drawing an appreciation for the superiority of the Valyrian people, and driving home the idea of conquest, and the importance of establishing a legacy that would last a thousand years. For what was the point in this gods granted life if you did not use it for greatness? And the one way to greatness was for Aemon to carry out the destiny that was not his own and to forge a new Kingdom from the ashes of the old.
It was this same rigid sense of duty, and linear path to success that led Aemon to the caves of the Dragonmont, where he would first meet the creature that was to be his mount, and perhaps longest serving and most trusted companion, the dragon Elenar, the Golden Beauty, the largest of the remaining dragons whose wing glimmered in the sunlight and whose flames could blind a thousand men, if they did not melt them first. Elenar had been the dragon of Aemon’s grandfather, Lord Aerion Targaryen, whose own death had caused the beast to fly off into a great rage, shying away from human contact to live in caves, feeding off sheep and the occasional unlucky shepherd. Decades before, the dragon had proved more than a match for Lord Aegon, when it had almost torn off his arm, leaving him permanently crippled, though much like in life, Aemon proved much more successful than his father. Less belligerent, and more reserved than the Eggless Lord, Aemon took his time in taming his beast, claiming the dragon over the course of several months by gifting it with sows and piglets until he could be trusted, and then mounting it’s back to ride it into the night.
Though Lord Aegon had a hand in crafting most of the young Aemon’s future prospects, there was one decision which the future King would claim as his own, and despite the many mistakes and follies of his later life, it is perhaps the decision which he looks back upon with the most pain. Convinced of the superiority of the Valyrian people, and kept mostly to himself to continue the training of a future conqueror, there were but two people that Aemon considered his peers and equals: his brother Baelor, a stalwart friend, and his sister Valaena, with whom he shared a bond unlike that he shared with any other. What began as playground teasing soon grew into affection, and later adoration, and in the traditional Valyrian style, Aemon was determined to maintain the purity of the bloodline and to wed his sibling, and the woman that he loved.
It was an unfortunate coincidence therefore when he discovered that he was not alone in such affection. Though the brothers Targaryen had proved fast friends in their earlier years, companions in almost all that they did, this was a rift that it would be impossible for them to bridge. Baelor had proposed first, of course, as was in line with the more decisive and confident nature of the younger brother, though as heir to Dragonstone, and the man who might one day be King, Aemon was not so easily tossed aside. He would have her.
It was an uncharacteristically brash decision to declare a duel for the affection of a woman’s heart, and perhaps the most confidently decisive that Aemon had ever been, though in that moment he did not care much for anything other than victory. It would have perhaps been prudent for Lord Aegon to intervene at such a time, to calm the growing tempers of his two children, though like any man more concerned with the strength of his children than their wellbeing, Aegon thought it prudent to let the strongest of them take the day. Perhaps he thought that his heir would prove victorious and show that all the lessons he had given him hadn't gone to waste. Perhaps he had thought that a victory from Baelor would mean his eldest’s demise, leaving him the strongest heir regardless, though neither turned out to be the case.
Aemon Targaryen ended the fight face down in a puddle of his own blood, humiliated by both his family and the woman he cared for. He was never quite the same after that.
Some of the more mean spirited historians have claimed that this, above anything else, was the motivating factor that gave the timid and otherwise disappointing Aemon Targaryen the motivation that was needed for the conquest of which his father had always dreamed, to wash away the embarrassment and to ensure that this was not the one thing for which Aemon Targaryen was remembered forever more. The more informed amongst them might have realised that Lord Aegon had been plotting such strategies and planning since he was a boy, and that the date of conquest was more to do with the elderly Lord’s failing health than any external factors, for Aegon Targaryen wanted to be alive to witness the establishment of a Targaryen royal dynasty, though much like his dreams of conquest, it was not to be the case.
Bards have often made the poetic assertion that the day of conquest perfect coincided with Lord Aegon’s death, suffering a heart attack from the sheer magnitude of watching another man take his destiny, though most scholars agree that Aegon the Eggless passed only two days before the surrender of Storm’s End, making such claims nothing more than fanciful. Whatever the truth of the situation, the truth remains that Aemon Targaryen and his two siblings took to dragonback to lay fire and blood down upon their enemies.
The events of the conquest have been dwelt upon elsewhere, and it is therefore necessary to detail Aemon’s involvement in the surrender of Storm’s End, the Lighting of the Hightower, the failed Dornish Campaign, and the Battle of Burning Ford, though each had a profound effect upon the man, in their own way.
The aftermath is what is most important, as Aemon Targaryen became King of Seven Kingdoms, and the first man to unite the continent (both claims made with the exclusion of Dorne) under a single banner.
The question remains therefore, what is left to accomplish when your life’s work, and the task that you had been raised to perform has been completed? As has been mentioned prior, a lack of ambition had plagued Aemon since his youth, and further conquest, even in the completion of the Dornish question is considered unlikely. The great City of King’s Landing, one vowed to overtake the once grand Oldtown and the torched Lannisport remains under construction, though the King’s personal involvement in such a project is rather lacking. Marriage is yet another central question, and the idea of the preservation of the family name, though thus far such a prospect seems like a distant one.

Other:
King Aemon had a pronounced distrust for Maesters, and does not let them anywhere near himself, fearing conspiracy after the burning of Oldtown and the torching of the Citadel.

Despite a rocky relationship with the faith, Aemon had officially converted to the faith of the Seven from the Old Valyrian religion in order to better assimilate with the people not long after the start of his conquest, though only recently has relations with the High Septon reopened.

Aemon still has a pain in his left shoulder from the loss of the duel against his brother.

Since the conquest, Aemon Targaryen has put on a little extra weight due to finding little time to remain healthy through new kingly duties, in an attempt to hide the development of a second chin, he’s recently grown out a beard.

Aemon wields the Valyrian steel sword Blackfyre and rides the dragon Elenar.

Full Name : Axell Tully

Titles : Lord of Riverrun

Age : 28 (Born 23 BC)

Appearance :

The Tully bloodline clearly runs strong in Axel, from his thick auburn hair and beard, to his piercing blue eyes, which seem to glint almost mischievously in the right light. Now in his prime he stands at a few whiskers short of six foot, and whilst not particularly broad of shoulder neither is he a rake. He would probably be considered more supple and leath. He is considered quite handsome, and growing apparently had his way with quite a few young maidens of the Riverlands, helped along by his regal features, easy smile and slightly ruffled appearance (Whilst the first two still hold true, he has grown out of the third).

As a proud and Riverlander, and one that has recently been unshackled from the rulership of the Iron Islands, Axell is very much one to flaunt this new independence in his style of dress. The red and blues of the Tully standard, as well as the moniker of the leaping fish worn prominently. Mind you this is not just down to a Lord embracing his family colours, but given the tenuous situation given the future rule of the Riverlands he is keen to make a splash both amongst the other Riverlords and especially at court.

Family:

WIP

Personality :

Axel is a relatively young Lord at only 20 and 8, and has already ruled for 8 years, as such he has had to do a lot of growing up in a relatively short space of time. One trait that has long stayed with him is his gregarious and affable personality. Whilst the Tullys may not be the strongest of the Riverland Houses, the richest, or have the longest or most prestigious history, he has attempted during his short reign to maintain good terms with the other houses, and set themselves deep within the web of alliances that bind the various Riverlords (as squabbling as they are) together. This has been spearheaded by his own personable demeanour and character, often hosting feasts and gatherings, especially during the Iron Islander occupation of the Riverlands. Of course behind the easy grin, tousled hair and courteous nature lies a keen mind, he read the writing on the wall early with the Targaryens and quickly threw himself behind them with the other Riverlords when they began their invasion of the Riverlands. He may not have the openly offensive capability of the Wolf or the Lion, but this fish is a slippery bastard.

Biography :

Axel’s upbringing was certainly a strange mix of enjoying the freedoms of a young member of the nobility combined with the weight of occupation, to be expected for one of the Riverlords. The Riverlands have not been ruled by a native Riverlord since the defeat of House Teague (who the Tully’s actually rebelled against) and the rule of the Durrandon, which then subsequently passed to the Hoares of the Iron Isles. So whilst Axel enjoyed the freedom of Riverrun and the surrounding towns and villages under which his family held direct sway, they still paid homage to a ruler of a different culture and religion and so often came into petty conflicts with the Iron Islanders who entered the Riverlands. Axel was trained much like any young lordling, a formal education from the resident Maester, and a more physical education from the Castellan. Whilst an enthusiastic pupil with the blade, his enthusiasm wasn't quite backed up by natural skill, and whilst passable to the extent that he won't make a fool of himself, he is not a natural or masterful swordsman, preferring the bow to the blade, something he is much more accomplished with. His formal education was a lot more successful though, happily digesting the histories of Westeros and the 7 kingdoms, from the reign of the Mudds of Oldstones to the coming of Nymeria in Dorne. If course this is not to say that he was a recluse, in fact he spent most of his time out of the castle, whether that be hunting, socialising with the sons and daughters of the other Riverlords, or (perhaps most surprisingly) being amongst the common folk who were subjects of the Tullys. Of course whilst he won many over with his charm and willingness to be seen amongst and interact with the common folk, there were a few he angered, namely several fathers whose daughter's maiden hood was claimed by the charming youth., thankfully his loose morales only extended to the commonfolk, and thus not incurring the wrath of any of the fellow Riverlords.

Axel’s carefree youth was soon brought to an end however when at the age of 22 his father was killed in a hunting accident, his horse losing its footing and crashing into the red fork, his father was found almost a kilometer down stream, knocked unconscious during the fall, he quickly drowned as he was pulled along by the fast flowing current.

As the only son the most pressing matter would normally have been securing the line of succession, and thus marriage. However less than 12 months after his father’s deaths, events came into fruition that were to turn the status quo upside down. To nearly all others, The Lannisters, the Gardeners, the Durrandons, the Hoares, the Arryns, the Martells and the Starks, the coming of the Targaryens was viewed with hostility and fear, the status quo that had benefited these 7 houses, was in danger of collapsing with the arrival of the dragon king. To Axel however, and in fact to many of the Riverlords, it provided an opportunity. For too long they had been subject to the whims of others, first the rulership of the Durrandon Storm Kings, and now to the so called King of the Isles and Rivers from his seat on the Iron Islands. With the arrival of a new power, the scales were shifted, and they saw a chance to push back against those who had ruled them for so long. Gambling that the Targaryens would be victorious, the Riverlords raised their banners not long after his arrival. In fact within a month of the Targareyens landing at the Blackwater Rush, the red dragon flew alongside the leaping silver trout above the battlements of Riverrun. Axel raised his levies and marched on Harrenhal, keen in his attempt to cement a position as being seen as one who had actively taken part in taking up arms for the Targareyens. As such his forces arrived at Harrenhal not long after the arrival of the King’s brother, where he immediately pledged fealty to the Targaryen cause. As such the Tullys marched on the united Vale/Northern Army willingly, as opposed to the Reachmen and Stormlanders who had been cowed into submission. Whilst the Dragons by far played the biggest role in the victory, with all 3 combined there really was little need for conventional warriors, Axel still made sure that the Tullys were ever present on the field of battle, marching his men on the survivors even as the battle was already clearly won.

Now with the conquest having drawn to a close, and 6 of the 7 kingdoms under the control of the new Valyrian king, Axel looks to cash in on his actions. The Lord Paramounts have been created in all but one of the territories, The Riverlands. With the promise of one of their own having control over the Riverlands, Axel is keen to push his own position, as the (self proclaimed) most loyal of the Targaryen vassals, who willingly raised his banners for them. Of course for Axel obtaining the Riverlands is just one step along the path of securing House Tully’s prosperity for the future. At this point he is the last Tully capable of carrying the name forward and a suitable match must be sought. Previously this would most likely have been a daughter of one of the Riverlords, or perhaps a younger daughter of one of the 7 principle houses. Axel has far loftier ambitions however. Claim the Riverlands, and the hand of Rhaena Targaryen, and he could make himself integral to the new dynasty, cementing himself as a powerful vassal whose loyalties are above reproach.

Other :

Whilst merely a passable swordsman, he is a skilled rider and archer. Owning an intricately carved bow supposedly crafted from a Weirwood tree.

Though a practising member of the Faith of the Seven, he is by no means a fervent believe, paying it lip service more than anything, happier to receive counsel from secular figures rather than those of faith.

Though he may still be unmarried, there are a handful of red headed children in and around Riverrun that he appears to have a hand in siring.

Name: Aethan Velaryon

Age: 18

Status:
Lord

House: House Velaryon

Family:

Daeron Velaryon: Brother
Rhaena Velaryon: Sister

Personality:

Aethan was a happy go-lucky lad growing up. With a passion for riding and swords, he was a natural quick study. Having a naturally magnetic personality meant he was pretty popular growing up. He had an eager to please personality so when the war call went out he joined up pretty quickly.

Once the war was done, the happy go lucky boy had become a cold unfeeling man. Scoffing at the frivolous court life, he hated the blustering of lords who never even saw combat.

Very few people can crack through this new personality of Aethans, except Prince Baelor and his sister Rhaena.

History:

Aethan grew up in Driftmark with his older brother and twin sister. Being the second born son, he got much the same training and education as his older brother, but with little to no prospects Aethan was given a more martial training from a young age.He got his basic lessons from the Maester but Aethans natural talent with a blade was what he got praised for by the quartermaster, his father and mother.

It was decided that Daeron and their father would go on a voyage south to the Summer islands. It was not unheard of for their house, in fact it was something Aethan had wanted to do when he was older, since he was not tied to Driftmark. While they were away, Aethan had taken over the seat of their house with help from his twin sister Rhaena. The raven had arrived that House Targaryen had finally decided to make a move on the Seven Kingdoms.

Given the close history of their houses, Aethan replied right away promising House Velaryons support and the levies were raised. Rhaena was left with a token force to hold Driftmark while Aethan went to Dragonstone to formally pledge his houses support in the coming war. Aethan co-ordinated his troops which would join Prince Baelor in the Riverlands.

He worked closely with the prince, planning the war efforts. It was during one of the more vicious battles that Aethan was burned by accident by one of the dragons. To this day he still cannot recall what had happened after he passed out from the pain. He woke in some rooms in Harrenhal, Maesters attending him.

His right arm from wrist to neck would be permanently scarred. Turns out the Prince had sent his own Maester to tend Aethan. News of Aethans courage spread and he was gifted a Valyrian steel sword by the king and was knighted. With the battle done, Aethan was given leave to return home. He looked after Driftmark while leaving ships for the Kings use. When Daeron returned home, Aethan and Rhaena updated him on what happened.

Aethan could not help but feel jealous of the tales of his brothers journey jaunting around while he went to war and was tainted by it forever. He then explained he would leave Driftmark to Daeron and represent their house in the new capital now that Daeron could finally man up and take responsibility for ruling their house.

Since then Aethan has served at the capital, representing his house.

Name: Freya Durrandon

Age: 35

Status: Lady

House: House Durrandon

Family:

Arlan Durrandon - Husband

Alastaer Durrandon - Son

Steffon Durrandon - Son

Arlayah Durrandon - Daughter

Personality:

Freya has been described as cold and calculated, a perfectionist in all she does. However, her family, ladies in waiting and anyone who spends any amount of time around her knows this is a farce, for she is warm and fiercely protective of those she cares for. Not one to coddle un-necessarily, she makes sure her children have the best of anything they need with the expectation that they work hard and excel at their chosen paths.

Freya has a sharp mind and loathes when she is underestimated. However, she is also aware of how lucky she is to have a husband who actually listens to her council instead of just humouring her. In the early days when the Gardeners or Martells got greedy in the Marches, she had given her advice on how to proceed and sometimes it was taken on board and often successful.

Her main priority is her family. Her children, father and husband were hers to protect and by the seven she would do so, even submitting to the dragons as much as it pained her for she had been out-maneuvered.

History:

Born on the Island of Tarth an only child to its leige lord, the best Freya could hope for was the second son of a house to marry take the family name to rule Tarth. Despite this, her father made sure she got the finest tutors on hand, even making the Maester teach her everything a son would be taught. Her father decided she would not be just an idiot on her lord husbands arm. Freya made herself known to the people across the island. It had been her idea, since she would have the people on her side when she finally wed.

She was a natural thinker, with her father beginning to ask her opinion on things as she grew older. Her father's main lesson being: Think tactically or for the most benefit but always put family first. She was shocked when she was betrothed to the crown prince of the Storm Lands. She had been expecting some minor lord. It turns out it had been her father's plan on the idea that Freya would birth multiple sons to rule Storms End and Tarth.

She had been sent to Storms End with her Septa and some guards to spend time with her betrothed. She were cordial to each other at first, but she felt a fondness for him as time went on. When the time came for her wedding, it was a grand affair in Storms End as all watched her marry and be crowned Queen of the Stormlands.

Her life slowly became a happy one. Her husband was affectionate to a point and actually listened to her at times. It was not long into her marriage that she gave birth to her first child, A son. Naming him Alastaer, she took a firm hand in his lessons. Making sure he was as knowledgeable under the Maesters tutelage than a Quarter Masters sword.

Her life would be blessed twice more with the birth of her second son and her daughter. Almost as soon as it was announced, offers came in for her children's hands. While she took all offers with grace, it was her husband she spoke with deciding which families to best tie with. They agreed that Alastaer should marry another High born daughter from a powerful family, while Steffon and Arlayah would marry into Storm Lander houses.

Life carried on and Freya was happy, the Storm lands were thriving as was her family. When news came. The Dragon lords had stirred from their Volcanic home in Dragonstone deciding the 7 kingdoms were to be their own. Freya had given her husband council in private that joining with the other high lords, The Gardeners and Martells would yield a better chance of success.

Of course the war was so swift, the plans died in the cradle. Arlan had gone off with the bulk of their army north to fight. They should have known...she should have known, they had dragons. The attack came so swiftly, the septa barely had time to hide in the tunnels beneath the castle with her youngest children. Freya saw the dragons in their ferocity. A foolish knight calling it cowardice before he was burnt alive. Freya had been forced to yield the castle for fear of them all dying.

Despite the defence of those who were at the castle, she had lost favor with them, even her husband had grown cold to her. Her son to be taken as a ward until he was wed. She had found her resolve breaking and if it were not for her younger children, she would have thrown herself to the sea in grief.

She held on, and focused purely on her children. Drilling into them the political savvy and martial training to survive this new world that had changed so suddenly for them. For the Stags remains proud and will not limp quietly into the night.

FULL NAME: Valaena Targaryen
TITLE: Princess
AGE: 23

FAMILY:
1567343794501-png.621667
BIOGRAPHY:
Valaena's childhood was spent the way most young ladies' are, and from a young age she found herself dissatisfied with the monotony of it all. When she was just shy of her seventh nameday, she set her collection of beloved dolls alight in what would turn out to be a prophetic gesture of rebellion. Neither the heir nor the second in line, Valaena was cast somewhat to the side by her father, but made up for the lack of his attention with the abundance of her brothers': she always took great delight in being the center of things even as a child, and enjoyed watching them drop their plans to entertain her fancies. As she grew, this only became more and more prominent. When left to her own devices, Valaena took the time to educate herself, often leaning towards more morbid non-fiction than stories.
Aside from minor vandalism, animals were Valaena's first love. She had many pets throughout her early years despite her father's refusal to gift her any, from a spider who lived in the corner of her bedroom to a mouse she trapped and tamed. This passion would culminate in the training of her own dragon, once she was old enough to be trusted. Naturally she received the smallest of the group, but also the most docile-- if one could apply that word to such a beast. However fine the line between resilience and obstinance, Valaena's approach was successful and she survived the taming phase, going on to bestow the name 'Keli' (meaning cat, a snide reference to an animal she'd never had the chance to own) on the dragon.
As she reached maturity, Valaena's transition from a girl to a woman was an obvious one. She became fascinated with being in close proximity to power, and being the focus of any room she entered, and, as it happened, Keli was not the last dragon Valaena would find herself taming. The strong relationship with her brothers blossomed into something new but expected, and she found herself caught between a battle for her hand: while the drama and attention of it all was thrilling for the young woman, the fact the two men took it upon themselves to decide without ever consulting her is something she has always privately resented. Still, she never did decide which outcome she favoured more, which probably simplified things in the long run. The duel selected Baelor to be Valaena's husband and at the time, as the victor, he was her perfect choice. This would not last.
Valaena describes her and her siblings' conquest as a blur, though truly it remains her favourite day dream. The aftermath of such a triumph is more difficult than the fight itself, however, and despite facing nowhere near as much adversity as her eldest brother, she still felt the strain. Furthermore, the addition of a string of failed attempts by Baelor to plant a son in her stomach only added to her stress. She quickly became obsessed with the idea that not only could her husband not provide them with the heirs they so desperately needed, but that he was unfaithful to her, and it made her blood boil: how could it be that somebody could fight for her hand, and still be left unsatisfied? These creeping doubts are arguably the root of her desire for more than what she already has. Valaena is no longer content with a conqueror, she wants a King too.
Much more recently, Valaena's prayers for a child were answered, and then quickly ripped from her one feverish and bloody night. Following this, she has been bed-ridden and inconsolable for some time, and only appears to be dragging herself back for the coronation. The trauma of the loss may be the final straw in the process of pushing her down the rabbit hole she's always been teetering on the edge of.

OTHER:
Though she doesn't publicise it, Vaelaena is well versed in the art of poison.
During her period of depression, she took up needlepoint, a hobby she loathed as a child.
While keeping a charming and domesticated demeanour, Valaena fantasises about power and ruthlessness.
She appears to be violently allergic to certain herbs.
Valaena owns the Valyrian steel sword 'Darksister'.

Full Name : Axell Tully

Appearance :

images.jpeg-1.jpg

Titles : Lord of Riverrun

Age : 28 (Born 23 BC)

NOTE : The current year is 5 AC

Family:

Victor is the eldest son of Harlan Tyrell, who was a steward to House Gardener. In the fourteen years after Victor his birth he was followed by three sisters and three brothers, of which one died a year after birth. Victor was schooled together with the children of Lord Gardener, but as soon as he could write he was also taught by his father on how to run the castle. When he was just sixteen years old, he was married to Alerie, a beautiful girl from the Shield Islands. There was no spark between the two, since they had barely met before the wedding, but after two years Alerie gave birth to their son. With the birth of their son the love between the two began to grow. The whole family was happy about the birth of a son, but it was cut short because Harlan died during a hunting trip. After the period of mourning, Victor became steward to the Gardeners. Many said that Victor was the best steward the Gardeners had in ages. Victor was loved by the staff of the castle and by the other nobles living at Highgarden.
When the news entered the castle that Storm's End had fallen, Lord Gardener fled the castle and left it for Victor. When the Targaryens arrived Victor surrendered the castle without doubt. He could not let these people die for a Lord who wasn't even here. Victor surrendered Highgarden to the Targaryens and bended his knee to the new king. As reward, Victor was granted Highgarden and was made Lord Paramount of the Reach. Many Lords saw this as treason, but after a year of hard work Victor finally got some lords on his side. With the help of the Targaryens, the Reach is florishing like it has never did before.

Name: Alira Tyrell

Age:
18

Status:
Lady

House:
House Tyrell

Family:

Harlan : Father

Victor: Brother
Lysa : Sister
Janna : Sister
Addam : Brother

Personality:

The youngest of 5 children, Alira learnt quickly the ability to remain unseen when needed. A naturally demure and quiet individual, Alira has a sharp mind and a gentle hand. With a passion for books and learning, she is of the belief that knowledge is as strong as an army.

With her nurturing nature, it has been joked that she was like the mother made flesh. Helping care for the younger Gardener children, she is happy to help with young children when she can. Her nickname being The Gentle Rose.

History:

Alira grew up with little to no expectations, most likely helping to run Highgarden and possibly marrying a knight should the Gardeners feel generous towards their house. As such Alira sat in on lessons like most noble girls.with her older siblings having their own affairs to sort out. She used to day dream of marrying one of the Gardener princes growing up, which she was affectionately teased for.

Her father never paid much attention to her as a girl, what with having 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters. It was not that he did not care for her, but with so much on his plate he could not afford her much time. Life carried on as normal for the stewards youngest daughter.

Then the whispers began from the east. The Dragon lords were waking in Dragonstone and the 7 kingdoms were what they desired. Her father laughed off the nonsense. But even at her age Alira could pick up on the underlying fear there. News came quickly and in droves. The storm kings had fallen to Valyrias children. Still they looked further west. The Gardener kings looked to House Hightower and the faith for reinforcement against the Dragon Lord.

When news came of the downfall of House Gardener, her brother now head of the family made plans to flee south east, hoping to avoid the dragon fire that left Oldtown a ruin.It was later that evening that the Dragon King came to Highgarden, proclaiming House Tyrell the new High Lords of the reach. Life had taken a drastic turn, from Stewards to High Lords. With the news coming from around the kingdoms of each bowing to the Dragon King, her brother was set to bring the reach together. With royal support betrothal offers came quick and fast, not just for her but for all of her siblings.

It was her mother and brothers sharp minds that managed to make sense of everything. Alira had made the suggestion to send aid to Old town to help re-build what was lost, but with the direct Hightower line wiped out save for some female descendants already wed else-where, her brother would be making the call on that. Her mother explained to her and her sisters what this meant for their family and how they would become ladies of noble born lords.

While bits of news regarding her siblings betrothals came through, there was little to nothing mentioned for Alira. She shrugged it off for now, doing her part to help the common folk affected by the war, earning her the title of “Gentle Rose”.

Eventually she asked her brother what was his plans for her, since there was nothing mentioned of her yet and she was told she would be the house representative in Harrenhal. So for the first time in her life Alira readied herself to leave the only home she ever knew.

FULL NAME:
Robin Arryn
TITLES: Lady of the Eyrie and Lady Paramount of the Vale
AGE: 16
FAMILY: TBA
BIOGRAPHY: The second child, Robin was supposed to be her parents' first son. Instead, the gods blessed them with a daughter, who came as even more of a disappointment than their first. It didn't help matters when Robin's mother, after a short but fiery bout of fever, passed away in the night only days after her birth as a result of complications. Grief-stricken, Robin's father left her in the care of a host of servants while he focused his attentions on her older sister, who would apparently now become his heir thanks to his refusal to remarry.
If Robin noticed her father's resentments at all during her childhood, it didn't show. They say ignorance is bliss, and Robin has always been one blissful idiot. Her septa despaired at her inability to focus on books or music or needlepoint, and at her blatant disregard for etiquette and poise, but Robin was always full of life and happiness. Much of her early childhood was spent outdoors, evading the captures that would see her back in her room with embroidery to imitate, or something equally boring.
An accident when Robin was twelve subdued her rebellious nature, at least temporarily. While hiding from her septa she climbed a tree and ended up losing her footing, and upon falling back down, caught herself on a rogue branch which left a nasty gash running up one side of her face. Despite her ignorance it was enough to scare her straight for a while, and during her recovery she kept to the tasks she was given, and nothing more.
Though destined for a simple (and likely insignificant life), fate has recently seen Robin shoot upwards into a position she was never meant to take. Following the death of her father, the Vale turned to Rosaline Arryn to take over as Lady Paramount. However, traumatised by recent events and rendered useless in the North, the daughter Lord Arryn had trained as his heir ended up unfit for the role. That left Robin, unwed and unprepared, to take over in what would surely be a disastrous turn of events.
OTHER:
While Robin isn't terribly concerned with her appearance, she deliberately wears her hair over the right side of her face to hide a scar that runs from her eyebrow to her jaw.
It is rumoured that Robin cannot name all of the Seven Kingdoms, nor the members of the royal family.
She has a tendency to get distracted or lost in her own thoughts very easily.

FULL NAME:
Rhaena Velaryon
TITLES: Lady
AGE: 18
FAMILY: TBA
BIOGRAPHY: When she was born, just minutes after her brother, it didn't look like Rhaena would survive. She was much smaller and much more frail than her twin, so much so that a servant who was present for the birth suggested privately that they should spare the baby the trouble and just drown her like a kitten. Against all odds, she turned out to be a fighter even as an infant, and though she continued to be the runt of the litter Rhaena thrived and clawed her way through infancy.
While Rhaena's twin focused on a more practical approach, Rhaena spent much of her childhood immersed in accounts of military history. Her clear eccentricities set her apart from other girls her age, but she never minded: her two brothers were her closest friends, and she had too much studying to do to waste time making any others. By the time Aethan temporarily took control of Driftmark, she felt well prepared to assist him despite her lack of experience and years.
Rhaena had always suffered from night terrors as a child, but they became much more frequent and more severe while Aethan was in the seat of Driftmark. Her symptoms included sleep paralysis and a raging fever, and she would become so distressed when struck down with one of these nightmares that those who saw her feared she was possessed. Around this time, she began to claim that these attacks were prophetic: while Aethan was away fighting for the Targaryens, Rhaena dreamed of her twin engulfed in flame, shortly before receiving news of his injury. Despite her inexplicable issues, Rhaena kept herself measured and was able to hold Driftmark in her brothers' absences.
OTHER:
Because of her ethereal nature and claims of looking into the future, Rhaena is often rumoured to be edging towards insanity.
She has expressed little interest in finding a suitor.
Water is oddly comforting to Rhaena and she frequently submerges herself in cold baths, particularly when struck by one of her episodes.
