A Heartfelt Search

Two Thousand Club
"How much longer are we gonna wait till we friggin' find him, Bobby?" Dean growled, eyes fiery and aggressive. It's been over a month since Sam mysteriously disappeared, and Dean, Cas, and Bobby had fruitlessly searched near and far. They had gotten no where, and tensions grew higher and higher.

The archangel smirked indulgently, reveling in the glare from hazel eyes that watched his every move. Gabriel had "kidnapped" (however you want to put it) the younger Winchester, thinking it'd be good to keep the vessels of Lucifer and Michael apart. Of course there was another reason...

Bobby sighed over at Dean and closed his eyes for a moment. "Dean. I know you're concerned. I am too! It's been too long. But you know, we've found nothing. Who knows how long it'll be?" He opened his eyes, voice raised and stern. Yeah, sure, he was concerned as Dean was, but he didn't constantly pester him for it.

Castiel stood closer than necessary to Dean, and rested a hand lightly over the hunter's shoulder, almost exactly in the place where the Mark of Cain was on his skin, trying to comfort Dean. "Dean, calm down." He said in his deep voice.

Sam glared up at Gabriel, hazel eyes blazing. He'd had enough of yelling at the archangel. He'd expressed his hate clearly enough. But he couldn't stand him even glancing in his direction. He kept his gaze on his kidnapper.

"I'm done being calm, Cas! I just want to find Sam and get his ass back here where he belongs!" the hunter roared, before storming off to go let off some steam. Dean's nerves were getting the better of him, along with his anger.

Standing in front of the hazel-eyed man, Gabriel raised a taunting brow, "You might want to take a picture, kiddo. It lasts longer."

Bobby sighed and took off his hat as he sat down to rub at his temples. "You'd better make sure he doesn't do anything unusually dumb, boy." He said to Castiel, who sighed and nodded.

Castiel set after Dean, running slightly to catch up, and called after the hunter. "Dean!"

"Shut the fuck up, Gabby." Sam taunted in return, voice sharp and his tone making him sound absolutely done-which he was. He just wanted to go home. He wanted to see Dean and Bobby again.

Sighing, and swinging the door open, revealing Cas standing in the doorway, Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "What?" he muttered darkly, really just wanting to be left alone and wallow in his anger, like he usually did. It always seemed to work for the older Winchester.

Putting a theatrical hand on his heart, Gabriel looked mockingly offended, "Ouch, that one hurt." But, immediately getting in Sam's face, the archangel said, "You really wouldn't want to taunt me too bad, Sam. I'm an archangel, almost as old as the big guy Upstairs. And you're just a sad, sad hunter with daddy issues. Aren't you...kiddo?"

"I know this is hard for you, Dean, but really, you need to calm down." Castiel said, and stepped cautiously closer to the hunter, taking note of his posture.

Sam flinched away from Gabriel, stepping back and glaring worse at him. "What the hell are you going to do?" He asked, though he was terrified of the possibilities himself.

"What do you mean calm down? Sam's probably locked away by some creep, and I can't do anything about it. None of us can!" Dean replied angrily. If Cas wasn't one of his few and one of his most trusted friends, the angel probably would have been hit by now. But the hunter trusted Cas, even though they were on completely different levels at the moment.

"There's a lot of things I could do to you, Sam. Like...Mystery Spot all over again!" Gabriel answered. And it was true, the number and range of actions the archangel could ever do was both terrifying and incredible.

"Dean, I know. Believe me. I know. But really, we are doing all we can. I even have my brothers helping us, Dean. You have a whole force of angels helping you. Sam is going to be found. I promise you." Castiel said softly, slowly. He stepped again in the direction of the hunter and kept his bright blue gaze focused on Dean's green eyes.

Sam winced and looked away. He felt his heartrate increase, and he pushed away his bad memories. He remembered every way Dean had died in those Tuesdays, in perfect and crystal clarity.

Demeanor and expression softening minutely, Dean breathed a heavy sigh, eyes starting to focus on the angel's impossibly blue ones, "Alright, Cas. You better not break your friggin' promise though."

The tiniest upturn on his lips was Gabriel's reply to Sam's wince and loss of eye contact. "See? Knew you wouldn't want that to happen, Sasquatch. Your big bro dying over and over again. It's not too fun."

Castiel's lips turned up slightly as he gave a small grin to the hunter. "I won't." He said. He was confident they'd find Sam, so he had nothing to worry about.

"Shut up or I'll fucking make you." Sam growled, becoming irate. He grabbed the front of the archangel's shirt and then forcefully shoved him back. He managed a sharp kick to the archangel's stomach, long legs making it easy.

Not being able to help but smile lightly at the angel, Dean breathed another sigh before rubbing his forehead, a sudden headache from the stress he had managed to endure over the past month. They had a long way to go before they found Sam, but with Cas and Bobby, the hunter could manage it.

The minute Sam's foot made contact with the archangel's stomach, he vanished. Knowing timelessly the Gabriel could make copies of himself, the golden-eyed man used it to his advantage. It made for quick escapes and lots of fun.

Standing in the corner of the room, untouched and holding a cherry lollipop in his hand, Gabriel smiled, "Nice try, kiddo."

Castiel frowned and he rested a hand between the hunter's shoulderblades. His bright blue gaze held deep concern for Dean. "Come on, Dean. You need to sit down." He said gently.

Sam had the temptation to go over and kick him again, but he knew it was useless. He simply glared at the man, hazel eyes blazing. He decided he hated the archangel more than he had previously, and that he and Dean would have to kill the bitch.

That was, if he ever saw his brother again. He'd be shocked if he did. Gabriel didn't care, obviously. He'd held Sam here for over a month already, and he wouldn't let him go, it seemed-ever.

"Fine," the hunter muttered, before sitting down on the bed of his room. Something about those bright blue eyes made Dean feel safe and reassured, which both comforted and unsettled the rugged hunter.

Knowing exactly what Sam was thinking, Gabriel smiled to himself, "Don't worry, Sammy. I don't plan on keeping you here forever. Though that does sound kinda fun."

(Carry on Wayward Son is playing as I post this.)

Castiel smiled, obviously pleased with himself, and stood beside the doorway, unsure of where he should go. If he left he wouldn't be keeping an eye on Dean like Bobby had asked. And he didn't know that Dean even wanted him there. Of course, he didn't know that the hunter didn't want him there, either.

Sam glared, and having had enough of Gabriel for the day, stared at the ground. He hated that idea. He hated Gabriel. He hated life at this point in relative time and space.

Looking up and seeing the angel unsure of where he needed to go, Dean huffed a laugh, "You can stay here, Cas."

Winking at the taller, Gabriel said, "I'll leave you alone for a bit, kiddo. Give you some room to breathe." And with that, the archangel vanished.

Castiel nodded with a small blush tinging his cheeks from Dean's small laugh, and took a step forward, standing now inside the room. He looked over at the hunter and smiled slightly.

Sam almost immediately set on destroying anything in sight, slamming things against the wall. He didn't care anymore. He didn't fucking care. He destroyed everything in the room until it was all shattered, and had given himself quite the nasty gash on his chest in the process. He growled and ripped off his layers, tearing his t-shirt into strips before wrapping then around his chest and the wound. He sighed and threw on his flannel, half buttoning it. He didn't want to be half naked when Gabriel came back. He didn't want to let the bitch see more of him than he already had.

"Cas, you can sit next to me, ya know. Looks like you gotta keep an eye on me anyways," Dean remarked, turning a thumb and moving his head in the direction of the bed space next to him. The hunter had noticed the blush tinting the angel's cheeks, and absently noticed how it looked good against the cold ice-blue of his eyes.

Shaking his head slightly, Dean scolded himself, Don't be a girl.

Coming back to his precious Winchester, Gabriel's eyes widened and he looked around at the smashed pieces that were once adorning the walls. "And to think I decided to be the Hulk once! You sure showed me up, Sam." the archangel said, before snapping his fingers and everything turning good as new. Some of that stuff was expensive.

And seeing the bleeding gash on Sam's chest, the shorter sighed before snapping once more, making it disappear and leaving nothing but unmarred, tanned skin.

Castiel sat behind Dean, on the very edge of the bed, looking over at him slightly. His blush had faded once the angel noticed Dean hadn't seemed to have seen it, and he frowned at the hunter's slight shake of head. He wondered if he was alright, and he sighed softly.

Sam growled in annoyance at how easily Gabriel fixed everything. He had spent quite a while taking out his anger and frustration, and not to mention, injured himself in the process. But of course, he had to be in mint condition for the archangel.

Furrowing his brow at hearing the angel's soft sigh, Dean closed his eyes and tried to rub away the headache that was starting to form.

The two sat in relative comfort and silence, their breathing the only audible sound in the room. It was kind of how they've always been, never needing to say something, but there always being a form of tension coming along. Neither knew exactly what it was.

Smirk forming on his lips, Gabriel said, "Don't act all annoyed, kiddo. You knew I could fix anything! Especially that amazing bod of yours."

Castiel couldn't help but worry about Dean, even in just his slight body movements and tendencies. He breathed out slowly and shifted closer to the hunter, but not enough for him to notice.

Sam quickly turned away and covered himself, blushing furiously and throwing on his jacket. He hated that Gabriel just had to make remarks. He knew that in this, he had to have been...Sam shuddered. Checking him out.

Only noticing Cas' slow breath, Dean had managed to make most of his headache go away, much to the hunter's relief. The last thing he needed, in the midst of trying to find Sam, was a friggin' headache.

Laughing softly to himself, Gabriel shook his head fondly at the taller who was currently turned away and attempting to cover himself up. While what the archangel had said was true, it was still fun to get a reaction out of Sam. The shorter had a soft spot for the selfless, giant bookworm. It was hard not to.

Castiel furrowed his brows and then looked away from Dean. He was always doing so. He always made Dean uncomfortable. At least, that was what the hunter had told him.

His bright blue gaze focused on the ground between his feet, and he closed his eyes slightly.

Sam draped his jacket over his chest and drew it tight, looking to Gabriel with a flushed face. His upper lip twitched as it often did, and he looked rather upset. "Why do you even want me here?" He growled for at least the fiftieth time, though he knew the excuse Gabriel would give him. He tried anyway, hoping in vain to get his actual reason.

Looking up and seeing Cas focusing his gaze on the ground, blue eyes closed minutely, Dean asked, "What's the problem, Cas? You look like someone rained hard on your parade."

Rolling eyes like an exasperated parent, the archangel said, "You know why, kiddo. To keep you and Dean-o from destroying everything and bringing on the next Apocalypse, it's best to keep you apart. Besides, I think some couple's therapy would be good for you both. Meaning separating for a bit."

Castiel looked up at Dean. "Oh. Hmm?" He raised his brows slightly and blinked innocently. "Oh. I'm fine. Just sitting here." He smiled slightly.

Sam rolled his eyes. "Yes, you've told me that one a hundred times. I've got it burned into my memory." He turned arounf and walked to the archangel, raising his brows. "But really. Why the hell do you want me here?"

A corner of his mouth turning up in a fond smile at his friend's predictable answer, Dean said, "No you're not. Sam uses 'I'm fine' all the time. And I do too. Talk to me."

Raising his brows also, Gabriel wagged a finger, "Now that, my friend, is the sixty-four dollar question." There was no way in hell the archangel would tell Sam his true intentions. Those were personal.
