I have a feeling we'll be getting a lot of Ronin/Samurai for this, as it is explicitly said to be inspired by Kurosawa and Ghost of Tsushima.

We're defending a village. That's at least 3 Kurosawa films alone xD

I myself am tempted to play a Samurai, possibly a yojimbo for another character if someone is playing a character of particularly lofty status.

My character will definitely be a male Ronin, with an unorthodox fighting style. He will be young, around 18-19 years old, talented, but cocky and arrogant. Rurouni Kenshin OST's plays in the background as he fights.

I love Kurosawa movies, but i don't own a PS4. I might possibly hate everyone who does.
But i did played Onimusha. All four games. But that was a long time ago... when i used to have a PS.

I am used to make my own character designs, but this might take a few days.

Just to get the ball rolling and let everyone start possibly adjusting to everyone else's characters'; my own is going to a high ranking samurai from Okinawa. She is "a little ruff around the edges" and less regal than most other high ranking samurai. Loves her sake, is free spirited when she can be, and is a proud Okinawan. Known in many a sake houses and other places of ill report, she doesn't mind mingling with the lower classes. She doesnt have the best history with the mainland Japanese and might have a darker motive than you would first guesss. I'll leave it there for now until the CS.

- how long has it been since the end of the attempted invasions
- is Hideyoshi still alive and reigning as shogun
- what’s the situation with Ieyasu or is the Tokugawa clan not a thing / they won’t play an active part in the RP

The Invasion into Korea. Started in 1592 ended in 1598. It was one big invasion that didn't pan out. This takes place in 1598, Hideyoshi is still alive but like his real world counterpart is almost dead (illness). The Invasion ended in November and it's going to be March, so early spring, cold night and warm days.

The Tokugawa were still the only clan that didn't have to participate in the invasion. But they aren't openly doing anything as they don't have the forces to keep the entire country in line and Tokugawa wouldn't want to spread his forces out while the clans are starting to act up.

My Kunoichi, she is was instructed in the ways of Ninjitsu from a young age. Due to there families hatred for mainland Samurai she and her family had to flee the mainland and wound up in the Ryukyu Kingdom. During her time there she learned that there is a distinct difference between the mainland and the Island nation, even befriending some Ryukyu Samurai.

With a jaded set of views towards the mainland Shogunate she returns to the mainland in order to exact revenge on the Samurai class and the Shogun himself.
