Mallory nodded her head when Montag suggested they keep it between themselves. “I won’t tell a soul” she told him sincerity clear in her voice. She would still be there if he wanted to talk about it but she understood the want to not speak about it, at least until he came to terms with the events he had witness anyway.

Once in the house, Mallory looked around her at the interior. She had never actually been in Montag’s house before and she was amazed at how homely the place was. When he excused himself, Mal sent him a smile before moving deeper in to the house, intending to go to the kitchen. She found it with little stress and began rummaging threw the presses until she came up successful, pulling out two cups. She made them both a cup of coffee and left Montag’s beside the kettle. Mallory took hers in her hands as she leaned against the counter, waiting for Montag to come back downstairs.

Conor couldn't help but laugh when Lucy mentioned getting old. "Yeah, Grandma. Let's celebrate you being ancient. Though you'll never be as old as James, jeez..." he teased, managing to lighten up a bit thanks to his sister's positive reaction to his news.

He listened as Lucy reassured him that James and Peter weren't really the super-dads he perceived them to be; that they too had insecurities and needed the women in their lives to help them along the way. He supposed he was being hard on himself. He hated that he'd missed out on ten years of Michelle's life, but all he really had to do was look to Lucy and James who had adopted three children and managed to do a fine job at raising them even if they hadn't been there for the first years of their lives. Lucy also reassured him about when he'd been unable to take over the family business, which always meant a lot to hear. He couldn't help but laugh as Lucy told him not to jump in calling the shots. "Really, Luce?" he asked, standing up. "Can you imagine me bossing Alex around?" he remarked.

Conor decided to let Lucy escape the dining room, but first had a request. "I do need a favour of you, though. I'd prefer it if you told James about this. He's going to need to know why Alex and Michelle are attending your party tomorrow, but... If I'm being completely honest, I think it would go down better if he heard it from you. He's still pissed off with me and I know I'll only give him more lip tonight than usual. If you want to call me a pussy, that's fine," he said, grinning. "I'm just not in the mood for him to start calling the shots where Michelle is concerned. Not that I don't admire his strong family values..." he trailed off.

When Conor entered the lounge, he noticed Aliana was with James and a young man he didn't recognise. It was in that moment that he realised how awkward things could get tomorrow with Ali and Alex in the same place. He also knew he owed her an explanation. They may not be in a relationship, but he still felt liked she deserved the truth. Casual sex aside, Conor and Ali were friends who often confided in each other. "Ali, can we talk?" he offered her, managing a warm smile. He would then lead her back into the dining room so they could speak privately.

James was glad to see Lucy enter the lounge, knowing she was better at entertaining their guests. "Kieran's here," he said, alerting her of her cousin's presence. "I was just warning him about your mother," he said, cracking a smile.

Sinead Callahan

methode%2Fsundaytimes%2Fprod%2Fweb%2Fbin%2Ffe4fe0d6-7e92-11e7-816d-eccee8c9dbd0.jpgBeing the naturally open and hug-loving person she was, Sinead hadn't really noticed that Wes had held onto her longer than was normally acceptable. It's not like he'd tried to grope her or anything like that. Still, she could sense something uneasy and off about Wes compared to normal, but she couldn't quite pinpoint what was different about him. When he eventually responded to her teasing with an awkward, but potentially complimentary response, she allowed a curious smile to cross her lips. She wasn't sure what was wrong with him, but she didn't want to embarrass him more by questioning him with an audience.

"Well, honey, I'm not sure if that was intended as a compliment, but I guess I'll take it as such," she told Wes. She sent him an encouraging smile, hoping she hadn't somehow made him feel uncomfortable. When Wes returned to playing his piano, Sinead turned around to face Peter and walked with him to their booth. "I'm not quite sure what that all was. He's not usually like that," she told Peter, wondering if she was the only one picking up on the awkwardness. "I hope he's alright." Sinead was a sensitive soul and had a way of picking up on when those around her were troubled. Though it wasn't always appreciated, she always wanted to do everything to make her friends feel better.

Sinead sat beside her husband, placing her arm around his waist as they both listened to the music being played. "It's so nice being able to do this, Petey. Relaxing here, with each other and the beautiful music," she told him, looking up to his face with her big, inviting eyes. "It's so much better now I don't have to worry about you doing those jobs for James. Don't you agree?"

Kieran Joyce
Kieran smiled a bit at the mention of his aunt. He had never met her, but his mother had always described her in colorful terms such as "fiery" and "strong-willed." To be fair, he never knew whether to take those descriptors as complements or not. Another thing he found quite humorous was how James seemed to be holding back what profanity naturally would have laced his speech, as if he expected Kieran would be offended having heard a "bad word." It was quite cute, in all honestly, that people believed clergymen didn't swear and that the moment a priest or pastor heard the word "fuck" they would swoon like a Victorian lady on her feinting couch.

Placing his bags off against the wall for the time being, he allowed James to introduce him to his adopted daughter, called Delilah. She seemed pleasant enough. And another woman, Aliana, who also seemed to be of a fairly friendly disposition. By this time the telephone had rung and James Porter disappeared into his office. Busy people, this lot. When it came to drinks, he meekly requested a glass of wine and made himself comfortable on the sofa, wedging a cigarette in his mouth but not lighting it just yet. James returned promptly and immediately asked him how things were in New York, citing a curiosity caused by a long absence. Another man, who he did not know, pulled Aliana out of the room and Lucy, his cousin, was right behind him. He waved in a friendly manner to Lucy before turning to James and answering his question.

Rory Finnegan General.JPG
"I'll be honest," Kieran began, "I have spent most of the past four years in Indiana at college. I only pick up bits and pieces from back home. I'm sure you've heard that we lost the Dodgers in '57, well more accurately Brooklyn lost the Dodgers. They went to LA. Last year was the big storms that swept up that part of the Atlantic coast and a blackout hit not too long ago. That gave Mother an awful lot of heartburn because she's become so enamored of the television. She loves Jackie Gleason."

One could tell that small-talk was one of Kieran's fortes. He told exceedingly boring stories about the weather and traffic accidents as if they were very harrowing tales of adventure. He also talked a good deal about his parents. His mother was a stay-at-home woman, and his father was a minor real estate lawyer. Naturally, he had to trace the lineage of his father's family back to Galway to ensure he was sufficiently Irish. And he talked a bit more about Notre Dame and his time in the seminary before settling into asking more piercing questions of his hosts such as what they did for a living, what the best places to eat around town were, and what time they normally ate, went to bed, etc.

Ever since childhood, Montag knew the importance of a quick shower. He never spent long inside, for the slightly irrational fear of running out of hot water, which was a problem in the orphanage. But in his own home, he still feared the same fate... Emerging minutes later, the shower floor slightly pink, and his bloodied clothes in a pile in the corner. I’ll have to burn them later... Changing into a very lax collared shirt, slacks, and the dress shoes he wore earlier. Taking the tie with him, he ran a hand through his now drying hair for good measure, and began the hike downstairs.

Montag immeidantly smelt the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a sign Mallory had been busy. Making his way into the kitchen as he tied his tie, though quite loosely out of laziness, he gave a thankful smile to the girl. Taking the warm coffee gently, he sipped the black rejuvenating liquid with gratitude. “It’s a nice night out, let’s take it to the porch...?”

Montag shut the house down as the two made their way outside, locking the door as they exited. He’d wash the cups when he got home, right now he just wished to enjoy the night like he planned on earlier. Taking a seat on his porch swing, leaving room for Mal is she wished, he gently began to rock. Montag’s coffee began to kick in, but when he wasn’t on edge, there was no need for his icy tone. Speaking softly, almost as if no game was being played, he sighed. “What were you really doing tonight Mallory? I’m just trying to get my mind off of...”

Ali was looking around again, wondering if this was the same house she had been in many times before. Sometimes she forgot things, a downside to her horrible memory. It took a minute to settle into her that she was, indeed in the same big house and she just shook her head at herself. "Oh, yeesh Ali. Get it together." She whispered under her breath. Hearing James' footsteps made her turn on her heels and smile at him.

Ali may not have been involved in the dirty business, although she too had to get her hands dirty when concerning the restaurant, but she still had a friendly relationship with James. "Oh, yes. I am great, business is even better." She told him. Placing her hands on her hips, she gave a little sigh. "Yes, Jacky boy took away my entertainment for the night. I was going to hijack one of your children. Saw the cutest kids and it gave me baby fever." She commented. Before she could say more, there was a knock at the door and she watched as James went to answer it. Taking a seat, she watched the door curiously to see a man she had never seen before with luggage and she briefly looked him over. She returned his wave and smiled at him.

As Conor walked in the room, she didn't even get a chance to introduce herself. Seeing Conor, she tilted her head to the side. She wanted to give him and earful for disappearing on her and not letting her know where he had been. Alas, there was company and she wasn't going to cause a scene in someone else's home. Excusing herself, she followed Conor and immediately filled a nearby cup with any brown liquor she saw. Once she had her cup, she set it down and gave Conor a shove, even though she moved more than he did and frowned. "No call?!" She said in a harsh whisper. "You asshole." She told him before picking up her cup and taking a sip. For a brief moment, she looked at the cup and gave a satisfied nod before drinking more. "It's not that I care or anything. I just hadn't heard from you." She said, putting on a front.

The Cresta slowly rolled down the glass-riddled road. Jackson looked around at the carnage and offered an approving nod. As his eyes traced past the shops and to Tommy, he saw the glistening metal crowbar in his hand. "Oh, you bastard..." Jackson said under his breath as he got closer. He rolled down his window once he was directly next to him. "I was wondering who took my piece..." Jackson said with a smile. He understood it was an honest mistake. Plus, he had got the job done anyways. He allowed Tommy to climb into the car and throw the tool in the backseat.

Jackson nodded his head when Tommy told him Montag drove Mallory home. He wasn't surprised the little party animal was out at this hour, he just hoped she wasn't impaired enough to get caught. He was surprised and relieved when Tommy commented on how odd Montag being covered in blood was. "Right? The hell is that about?" He shook his head lightly, keeping his eyes on the road. "He told me he got in this big fight, but when I found 'im he was just sittin' in his car, covered in guts." Jackson knew something didn't add up, but why would Montag lie to him? Even if he did do something vile, why would he be ashamed to tell him?

Mallory sipped at her coffee and looked up as she heard the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs. She gave him a warm smile as he walked into the kitchen. “You look a lot better now” she commented. Mallory was a firm believer that showers were always the answer when one wasn’t feeling right. It was literally washing the dirt off and she tended to believe that the mental dirt would also wash away in the hot water. Now she knew this didn’t work for everything but what she knew for sure was that it certainly worked for hangovers when she was actually able to stand in the shower.

Mallory snapped from her thoughts when Montag spoke about moving outside, she gave him a small nod before following him out. It was a nice night so far and luckily wasn’t too cold but her jumper would keep out the cool breeze anyway. Mallory looked out into his garden for a few moments, staring at the night sky before taking a seat beside him on the swinging seat. “I love these chairs” she commented with a smirk “they always seemed so much fancier than a swing set” Mallory laughed as she stared out ahead of her.
She bit her lip when Montag asked what she had been doing today and shrugged her shoulders “nothing too exciting just lay around the park with some friends” she told him, off course leaving out the part about planning parties and deciding what alcohol to get. The less people that knew about them adventures the better. It’s not that she didn’t trust Montag, if fact she trusted him with everything it was just she didn’t like telling anyone about when she was going to be sneaking out and about, knowing how they could get protective of her. Jackson knew but that was because he bought her alcohol and brought her places, it was their secret deal. “It’s gping to be a hectic family day for mama birthday tomorrow so I just needed some space away from them yanno?” She added before taking another drink of her coffee “are you coming to this party?” She asked him

James had been quite intrigued when Ali mentioned how Jackson had taken her entertainment, Tommy, away for the night. He'd be sure to quiz the young man on that one time, purely to embarrass him, of course. Anything that steered the lad away from wanting to attack the cops was fine by James.

Conor stood and watched as Ali poured herself a drink and was tempted for one himself but knew it would only make him want to see the rest of the night out with many more. Her shove barely made him budge but it still took him by surprise as he wasn't expecting it. "Ah shit. What is it with everyone wanting me to call them?" he lightly asked. First Lucy, now Ali. He cleared his throat and straightened his face. "I guess I just got a bit carried away and went out drinking a few consecutive nights. Didn't get time to come into your restaurant during the day because I was sleeping it off..." he explained. They were shit reasons, but they were the truth. "Don't lie, you were worried about me," he playfully teased her.

"I do owe you the truth about something else, Ali. We've shared a lot with each other and you deserve to know this." Conor offered Ali a seat at the table and then sat down himself. "I once told you about the lass I was with back in Chicago... The daughter of the psychopath Italian boss. Well, I bumped into Alex today and it turns out she's living nearby. I've also found out we have a daughter together." Conor looked to Ali to gauge her reaction to the news.

Tommy had a slight awkwardness about him when he thought about Mallory. "I'm stuck between knowing I should tell James about her and deciding there was no harm done on this occassion, that she deserves some freedom." He shrugged his shoulders. "All I know is, she's not leaving the house without an escort when I'm on watch," he told Jackson. He knew the guy often drove Mallory to where she was headed, but it was a fact Jackson hadn't done so tonight. So where had she even been?

Tommy listened as Jackson spoke about Montag and seemed a little unsure himself. "Well, he's your mate. I figure he wouldn't lie to you, would he?" he suggested, perhaps trying to convince himself really. "I just didn't really appreciate him sitting there with a bottle of vodka whilst I was doing the dirty work. I mean, was I being babysat or something?" All he knew was it was his first time doing something like this and he hoped he'd done enough to cover what James had asked of him. "So, do you think we did enough to satisfy the boss' request?" he asked, though he expected they'd find out very soon when they returned to the Porters' place.

Even though her shove did nothing, his shocked response gave her the satisfaction she was looking for. Hearing his explanation, one hand rested on her hip while the other held her glass. She gave him an unbelieving look before she rolled her eyes. Of course she knew he was telling the truth, but it still made her worry. Though, she would never tell him that even if he did know it. But, hearing that he was safe and seeing it made all the worry go away. Well, partially. She had been around him long enough to know when something was bothering him so when he asked her to sit, the worry came back.

There was a knot in her stomach as he spoke and brought up his ex. Even though the two weren't dating, she still didn't want to hear about her. She was going to stop him as soon as she was mentioned, but decided to let him continue talking. Immediately she regretted it. The knot got tighter and no amount of alcohol was going to help it. Though she didn't know why there was a knot to begin with. She just blinked at him, unsure of how to respond, though her face remained in a neutral state. "Congratulations...? I think." Her mind wasn't processing the news as well as she had hoped, but when it did her eyes grew wide. "OH! Like, an actual kid? Like a Savvy type person and everything?"

Montag couldn’t help but chuckle at Mallory’s chair comment, as he continued to rock the two with his feet. “I’ve always liked them too. The rocking calms my senses, and helps me think...” Having a photographic memory often meant his eyes, and ears were often at work constantly. Having a few moments to stare at the stars, rock away the worries, or even a quiet drink were often moments he cherished.

Silently he was glad to hear Mallory wasn’t getting to much trouble tonight, but knew in a few days it’d be a different story... “I am actually! Did all my work tonight just to make sure I won’t have a headache from papers...” Taking a sip of his coffee, he glanced to the porch momentarily, then sighing.

As a lawyer, you take an oath... A oath to always consider taking in, and helping those who need it. I tried that tonight...” Montag took a deep, solom breath. This story he was weaving began to felt real to him... A good lie always feels real to the liar... Looking back up at Mallory, his eyes locked with hers, he sighed. “But here we sit, drinking coffee and rocking in a porch swing... It just makes you realize the importance of life eh...?” Angry, and half in love with her, and tremendously sorry, Montag turned away...

Mallory Porter

Mallory nodded when he said how the rocking tends to clear his head, she could see how that method could work. She loved rocking when she was able to control it like on a swing or a hammock but the types of rocking she was used to lately was when she had drank a little too much and couldn’t stand straight, now that kind of rocking usually cleared her stomach rather than her head. Mallory brushed off the thoughts of her drunken antics as Montag spoke again, she gave a slow nod at his words, a small frown playing on her lips as she took in how broken the man beside her seemed to be. He had suffered such a traumatic experience, while Mallory seen herself as strong and wanted to badly be apart of her father’s business she didn’t actually know what she would feel if she had witness a murder or at least the aftermath like in Montag’s case.

As he spoke, Mallory leaned down slowly and placed her now empty coffee cup on the floor before pulling her legs up so she was sitting somewhat cross-legged on the seat. “Not even importance but just how short it is” she finally said as she looked up at the stars above them. “You never know what’s going to happen around the corner and how long you have, that’s why you need to do what you want to do and do it when you can because you might never get the chance again” she said. Mallory wasn’t really hinting at anything here rather that was her philosophy in life, it was short and deserved to be lived with full intentions and that’s how Mal carried out her life even if she did get into trouble a lot because of it.
When Montag turned away from her, Mallory looked at him, the small frown placed on her lips still as she reached out a hand and placed it on his arm “look you did what you could , there was nothing else you could have changed, so don’t beat yourself up over it” she told him gently, she wasn’t actually sure of what to say in this situation

Montag sighed, listening to Mallory’s philosophy only encouraging the desire he knew he shouldn’t feed. She’s my boss’s daughter... But she’s.... Finishing off the last of his black coffee, he set his mug upon the porch, then a gently hand was felt...

Looking back to the woman, he simpered lightly. I love her, and that’s the beginning and end of everything... Placing a hand on hers, Montag locked his eyes with hers.... Then, he went in for the kiss....

Jackson shrugged lightly, "Well, he ain't supposed to be smashing shops, is he? Why he even wanted to come is still a mystery to me." He and Jackson never really agreed on terms since the beginning. Perhaps Montag had wanted to come along to see how they really operated... Beating up thugs and vandalism were pretty common, but murder was almost unheard of in this time of peace. Jackson hadn't carried out a hit for almost three years, he assumed that part of his life was over. He could still feel the tension in his wrist from the recoil, the smell of Alec's metallic blood running down the sofa, and the look of life fading from his retinas. In that moment, every memory of pulling a trigger had flooded back to him. While what he was capable was instinctual, it scared the hell out of him.

The two of them had arrived back at the Porter estate, immediately let through the tall gates. "Not gonna' lie, mate, I didn't know what to expect when I was told yous' was gonna tag along, but I am glad you did. You're a bloody natural." Jackson offered him a smile as he stepped out of the car. The next day, Jackson was expected to run the security team at Lucy's party, so he decided to stay the night at the Porters. James had let him set up in one of his million guest rooms so he could get to work immediately. He knew tomorrow was going to be a big day; everyone in Dublin was going to be watching them.

Conor could see how difficult it was for Ali to hear about Alex. Whilst his relationship with Ali hadn't even been a committed relationship, it had still been something. He figured he wouldn't have felt overly happy to hear about an ex of Ali's showing up. Still, he knew it would have been easier to not say anything and just let her find out herself, but he didn't think that was right to do at all. Perhaps he really was acting responsibility right now. He bit his lip and nodded his head at her awkward congratulations. "Yeah..." he trailed off, hoping she wouldn't be too pissed with him for this.

A smile grew on his lips as her eyes grew wide and she mentioned Savvy. "Yeah, just like her. A little human person," he said, holding out his hand to the height he recalled Michelle being. "Pretty much the same age as Savvy too," he fondly told her. He nervously tapped his foot as he thought of everything that had happened. He wasn't sure what would become of him and Alex - the woman he'd never stopped loving, but he did know he needed to make an effort where Michelle was concerned. "I've had Jackson, Lucy, James, Montag... the full set of them on my back this evening, without them even knowing about Michelle. They all want me to stop getting so drunk and fighting, which I honestly wasn't going to listen to them about. I agreed with them just to shut them up and I wasn't planning on changing," he admitted. "But it's just hit me that I do need to change so Michelle can know her father and she won't know him as a waste of space."

Mallory watched as Montag turned around to face her, she could see something was going through his mind, confusion maybe? She wasn’t sure what it was but there was definitely something affecting him in that moment and it wasn’t what he had witnessed.
As he leaned in and kissed her, Mallory instinctively and subconsciously kissed him back.

Breaking away from the kiss, Mallory suddenly jumped up of the chair so that she was standing on the decking. “I .. eh ...” it was weird to see this normally confident girl flustered and fumbling over her own words and she tried to come to terms with what had just happened. He was her dad’s employee, never mind the age gap which was a lot and he was a lawyer. While she always considered him to be left out of her general distaste for law authority figures, he was still a lawyer. So why was she so conflicted about that kiss? Why did she like it? Mallory looked at Montag again as she tried to get control off her emotions, replacing her conflicted expression with her confident facade once again “I should probably get home before my dad sends out a search party” she told him before moving over to pick up her cup. Mallory then walked back into the house and washed her coffee cup in the sink before leaving it to dry on the drying board.

Montag pulled away just as Mallory had, nervous of his actions. James... Lucy... Shit. Watching her mask slip back on over the surprise and shock of his action, he in turn put his on once more. “Agreed. We don’t need him speculating what and where you’ve been. Because, studying doesn’t take this long you know?” Slightly coy at the end, he watched as she disappeared back into his house with his mugs, and he went to his car. You really did it dumbass. You just had to kiss her...!

The car ride was once again silent, both thinking most likely. The Porter fortress was visible from miles away, the mass amount of space it took, as well as the lights flooded the road. Pulling the car into the gate, Montag rolled his window down as a guard approached. “Dropping of Mallory, spotted her walking home from studying and decided to spare her legs the walk...”

Both were let through, as Montag turned, and idled the car in his usual parking spot. Glancing to Mallory, he sighed. “I’m sorry, that was uncalled for Mal...”

James Porter

nhkj-png.404962
James listened as Kieran told him about attending college in Indiana and then went on to speak about American football. He'd barely managed to keep up with the sport when in was in the US, so his knowledge now was very limited. The most he heard about nowadays was local football and boxing. Still, the conversation held his interest and he showed as much through an attentive expression. "Some of the others are into 'soccer', though I'd call it football around here else some of the lads will get all picky about it," he quipped. Having grown up in America, James once made the mistake of referring to football as soccer to his English friends and they were quite fussy about it.

When Kieran asked some questions himself, James glanced to Lucy, deciding where they should start and which ones to let her tackle. "We run a number of businesses; restaurants, bars, garages... all sorts of things. your cousin Conor manages some restaurants and pubs, and your cousin Sinead has her own jazz club. " James glanced to Lucy, wondering if she wanted to elaborate on their business. This was all no secret, so he had to wonder if Kieran really was oblivious to it all. "As for bedtime arrangements... You'll soon realise this house is always full of life, so I wouldn't get hung up on set bedtime rules. Personally, I try to be up at 5am sharp, when I can help it. The air is much clearer for jogging earlier in the morning."

James was cut off when Jackson and Tommy entered the house. Or was it a welcomed reprieve? "Kieran, I will let Lucy talk to you about eating arrangements. She knows all of the best places to go," he assured him. James gave Lucy a kiss on the cheek before standing up and pointing for Jackson to join him in his office. "Tommy, grab yourself a drink and a break, then I'll catch up with you shortly."

Tommy had been glad to hear from Jackson that he'd done a decent job - apparently he was even a natural - so he wasn't worried about whatever James would have to say. As far as he was concerned, he'd done as asked.

James entered the office with Jackson and closed the door to speak privately. James hated theatrics and public 'shows'. He hadn't been overly fond of asking Jackson to do what he did to Alec, but he knew it was either that or risk his own family coming to harm. Still, he wasn't happy about putting his friend into such a position, whether he was employed to do it or not. "How did everything go?" he asked Jackson, leaning against his desk as he did. "I must apologise for throwing you in at the deep end. I just need to get this message across to everyone and to restore order, right now. Which unfortunately means resorting to more severe tactics. I'm also going to need Conor and Peter to start pulling their weight more, which I'll inform them of tomorrow. The Russians want 'their' money and I need to make sure they get it."

The car ride home was quite as the two were clearly stuck in their own thoughts of what had just happened. Mallory didn’t really know what to think about the kiss, it was unexpected that was for sure. Was there more behind it or did he need comfort? She just couldn’t get her head around it and it wasn’t a conversation she was ready to get into just yet. As they pulled up to the gates, Mallory smiled at the security before training her eyes back on the road ahead.

When the car stopped Mallory sat in silence for a moment trying to come up with something to say but was coming up empty, what could she even say? When Montag spoke up, Mallory looked towards him a soft smile playing on her lips and any confliction going on in her mind was hidden from her face, she looked calm and held her usual strong demeanor. “It’s okay but we’ll keep it between us” she told him. She was well aware that if her father ever found out he would hang Montag from the raftings and she couldn’t even imagine what else he would do to him. She reached her hand out and grabbed onto the handle of the door “I’ll see you tomorrow “ she told him before getting out of the car and making her way towards the house. She had assumed that Montag was not coming in, put down to how he might be nervous to face her family.
Mallory opened the front door and walked into the house, she could hear the familiar chatter from different rooms which was always present in her house, it made it feel homely the fact that it was always full but sometimes it was a curse knowing that someone would probably try to talk to her. She was under no illusion that her mother or father were going to hound her for missing dinner.

Kieran nodded and glanced at his watch before realizing that it was hopelessly out of time and he didn't care to do the math at the moment. It was also at this moment that another man arrived and James Porter disappeared with him into the office. He paid it no mind, rising to his feet and smiling charmingly to Lucy and the rest. "I believe I need a smoke before I turn in for the night," he explained, "if anyone needs me I'll be out on the veranda."
Rory Finnegan General.JPGWith that, he took his leave and went to the door. As he went for the knob, the door opened anyways and a blonde-headed young woman stepped inside. Kieran stopped, then smiled kindly. "Well hello," he glanced back at Lucy and the rest of the family to see who was in the room so he could guess who she was, "Mallory?" His cigarette hung limply out of one side of his mouth as he thought for a moment.

"Oh, pardon me," he apologized. "I'm your.....uncle? Uncle, yes. Uncle Kieran." He smiled in that half-smiling, but honest way of his. He thought it strange to be the uncle to someone who looked not much younger than himself. His family was odd, though.

Mallory came to a quick stop inside the door when she nearly walked straight into someone on the other side. She looked the man over trying to place a name to the face but was coming up empty handed until he introduced himself. She had heard that a relation was coming over from America, she had been just unsure of when.

“Yes I’m Mallory” she said with a smile “it’s a pleasure to meet you Kieran, have you been here long?” She asked pleasantly. Maybe wIth him here, she mightn’t get as much of a hard time for missing dinner

"Ah, no. Not long at all." He replied, bringing his lighter to his face and flipping it open. It was a nice lighter and it carried the seal of the New York diocese on the outward side. He lit his cigarette and blew smoke in a close ring about his face before turning back to the family in attendance.

"I think I'll have my smoke and if its not too late I'm going to see about renting a car." He said, fishing the business card of a dealership out of his pocket. "Anyone else is welcome to a cigarette." He said, moving to slide past Mallory and out the door onto the veranda.

Lucy didn't have much time with her husband before he was whisked away to his office, talking with Jackson about a job he had done no doubt. The blonde let out a sigh but reminded herself that this was the way things should be now. "Keiran hello doll, sorry I didn't come to greet you sooner but Conor needed to speak with me for a few moments. That's my brother. Sinead, my younger sister will be here tomorrow for the party. Oh and please go have a smoke." She spoke kindly offering her cousin a warm smile before someone else came through the door. Mallory. Lucy leaned against the doorway of the lounge and watch as she casually strolled in, like she hadn't missed dinner without letting her parents know where she was. Lucy understood what it was like to be young, as it was only 15 years ago that she was around her children's age but Lucy also knew that her own parents would worry if she didn't tell them where she would be.

Lucy stayed silent as Kieran became acquainted with her daughter, smiling as he said 'uncle'. Basically everyone to her children was an Aunt or Uncle, being that close and all. Lucy waited till Kieran was outside before speaking with her daughter, having no doubt that she was expecting someone to speak with her. "Mal. I think you already know what I'm going to say, as I've said it to you a million times before. What were you doing that was so important? Could you have not called your mother and told her you aren't coming home for the wonderful meal she prepared for you?" Okay, maybe Lucy was guilt tripping her daughter a bit but it needed to be done, this being late to dinner concept seemed to be a reoccurring one within her family.

Taking in her daughter's appearance, she could see that she was a bit shaken, only the slightest. "Did something happen? Are you alright?" Lucy's anxieties about what could have happened to her child peaked and she bit her lip before walking over to her daughter and wrapping her arms around her. Squeezing her tight, she sighed. "Your father is not going to be happy with you."

Peter took notice of Wes' odd behavior almost immediately but chose not to address it to the man directly, he seemed skittish enough already, no need to scare the poor man any further. Peter nodded his head in Wes' direction as they departed and he began to play the piano again. Sinead lead the way to their booth and Peter slid in, taking a seat quickly. His wife's smiling face was making him smile now, contagious. "I'm sure he will be fine dear, perhaps he's got a lot to think about." Peter murmured to her before another large smile was placed on his face. His wife's excitement tonight was enough for the two of them combined. He was happy to be here, but lately, it felt like something was missing. The action in his life was slowly dwindling to none and he was sorta missing it, in the oddest way.

Peter thought about what to say to Sinead, who thought it was better now that Peter wasn't working for James any longer. Could he tell her that he missed it? How could someone possibly miss something like that? He wondered if it was horribly wrong for himself to feel this way and what he could possibly do to stop it. "Hmm?" Peter mumbled to himself as he pulled himself away from his thoughts. "Things are certainly a lot less chaotic, I think I can definitely get use to this." He took his wife's hands in his own and kissed each one delicately. "Thank you...for this. I love you."

Sinead watched Peter as he appeared lost in his thoughts. A curious smile remained on her face as she wondered what he could possibly be thinking about. Perhaps he was imagining all of the fun things they could do with each other and with the kids, now they had a little more free time. Sinead didn't have to perform until next weekend and she hadn't been to the theatre in some time. The kids would love a day out in the park. She felt happy to hear Peter say he could get used to their less chaotic life as it reassured her she hadn't pushed him into quitting his jobs for James. "I love you too, baby," she said, blushing as he kissed her hands.

After a while, Sinead felt the cocktails going straight to her head and she knew she had a party tomorrow, so didn't want to feel rough for that. "How about we go home now?" she asked him, giggling a little as she almost stumbled getting up to her feet. Had it really been so long since their last night out? "I'm afraid you might have to used those strong arms of yours to carry me home, mister," she joked, pressing her index finger into his bicep. As they left the club, Sinead looked over her shoulder and waved in Wesley's direction. "I think he's just shy," she tipsily observed.

As soon as they got home, Sinead wobbled towards the bottom of the stairs so she could perch herself there whilst removing her high heeled shoes. Peter wouldn't get very far before hearing Savannah call out to him from her place in the lounge. "You should be sleeping..." Sinead mumbled to herself, but maintained her bright smile.

Peter would find Savvy sat on the carpet with a shoe box by her side. The photographs usually kept inside the box were now carefully set out on the floor. If Peter looked, he would see the pictures of the family. There was Peter himself, the rest of the Callahans, Porters and Sullivans. Peter would also notice those pictures of her late grandfather, Emmet Sullivan, as well as her deceased father, Angel. "I got into a fight with Brady and Emmy. Emmy was playing with my photographs and I shouted at her and she got upset. I was going to say sorry, but then Brady shouted at me and told me I'm not even their sister. He said I'm not allowed to call you my dad..." Savvy sniffled as she wiped her eyes. "If you don't want me here, can I go live with Lucy and James? Or Conor?" she sincerely asked.

Mallory smiled at Kieran as he said that he was going out for a cigarette “Well I’ll talk to you later so” she said pleasantly as she watched him leave the house.

When he left Mallory turned to see her mother leaning in the doorway, she hadn’t seen her at first and Mal hid the smirk that was threatening to spill onto her face due to her mothers talent for waiting in the shadows. When her mother began to warn her off for being late and not telling them where she was, Mallory let a frown fall onto her face “I’m sorry we were studying and I lost track of time” she told her mother sorrow laced in her tone. When her mother hugged her, Mal wrapped her arms around her mother and hugged into her, allowing it to comfort her. Off course her Mother saw through her facade, she always did, the woman knew everything and at times that was a terrifying concept.

Mallory pulled back from the hug when he mother asked what was wrong. She wanted to tell her exactly what had happened but she knew she couldn’t. It was not something that could be spoken out loud and Mallory needed to wrap her head around it first anyway. “Awh I just had an argument with Padraig earlier and I’m a little bummed by it but I’m sure we’ll be fine tomorrow” she lied, Lucy would recognize Padraig as one of Mallory’s closest friends from school. Mallory hated lying to her parents, she hated lying in general but it had to be done.
When Lucy mentioned her father, Mallory allowed a sigh to pass her lips “If I avoid him till tomorrow should he have calmed down?” She asked her mother, a humourous tone to her voice

Jackson McCarthy

Jake-Gyllenhaal-Source-Code.jpg

Jackson had wheeled his suitcase inside the house behind Tommy. Just as he was about to get himself settled in, James spotted him and motioned for him to enter his office. He nodded lightly, resting his stuff by the stair case. As he moved by he smiled to the girls in a seldom "hello" and then stepped into James' office. He helped himself to the bourbon case on his desk and poured himself a hefty glass. He then turned to James as he followed behind him. "Everything was fine... Sorted the Ballymun brothers out, redecorated the shops, and gave Alec Finnegan a third eye."

He should've figured the Russians had something to do with James' behavior. He had a certain subtly he liked to play by, like a rat who would scurry away from any light. The last thing he wanted was attention drawn to him or his family. The power move of displaying a corpse was certainly more of Nikolai's style. He couldn't help, but wonder if the Russians involvement would cause more frequent hits and public displays. "Just surprised is all. I didn't take yous' for someone who enjoyed theatric executions." Jackson wouldn't shy away from hits, but performing something so public and open was bound to have repercussions. Subtle fear was one thing, but the police wouldn't allow brutal murders to occur unnoticed.
