A Day in the Life of a Pokemon Trainer [Inactive]

Dylan hit the next button on his MP3 as he walked along the path. The soft song of City of Angels was soon replaced by the harder beats of Ghost of Me. Dylan moved his blonde locks off of his green eyes and jammed his hands into his pockets. His buddy Rotom floated up beside him.

"Tom." it said, but got no reply from its trainer. It nudged its trainer's shoulder. Dylan stopped in his tracks and looked up at his partner.

"What's up, Rotom?" Dylan asked sliding the headphones off his head, "You tired?"

Rotom nodded. At least, it looked like a nod. Dylan smiled, "Yeah, I could use a little rest myself."

The two went over to a nearby tree that lied near a river. Dylan slid his pack of his shoulders and set it down. He reached into his pack and grabbed a bottle of water and a PokeBlock. He tossed the block into the air, which Rotom caught joyfully; and guzzled down about half the bottle of liquid.

He looked at the strap of his bag, and stared at the three PokeBalls that were attached to it.

Dylan smiled. It seemed only like yesterday that he set off on his adventure to discover what type of leader he wanted to be. He was next in line to inherit the family gym, but wasn't a fan of the current type that it was listed as: Rock. He can change it to whatever type he wanted it to be, but the problem was, was that he didn't know which type.

He thought about each of his Pokemon: Monferno: was the first Pokemon he caught back when it was a Chimchar. It was incredibly fast and packed quiet a wallop. Grovyle: was the Treecko he saved during a major flood a couple of months back. And of course, Rotom: his first Pokemon, and best friend and definitely the strongest of the three.

Dylan lied down on his back and closed his eyes as his Rotom floated down onto his stomach, "Fire. Grass. Ghost. I don't know." He thought to himself, "They all have so many strong points and that isn't even all the types there are. I can't forget about Dragon or Dark or Psychic or Fighting or..." "AH! I JUST DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE TO PICK!" he shouted aloud and he cupped his hands over his face.

A moment passed and his hands fell to his side, "I'll figure it out eventually." he whispered as he looked to his left towards a waterfall. He noticed some trainers close to it. He watched them smile and laugh. He looked back up, "Must be nice to be a Trainer; you're not forced to pick favorites among your friends." He thought to himself and slid his headphones back on, and closed his eyes.

Dylan's eye twiches, "Rotom, quit nudging me and go to sleep." He said as he rolled onto his side.

Rotom rolled off his stomach and never woke up. Rotom's bolt shaped limbs brushed against Dylan's nose. "Hmm, Rotom stop." He said rolling to his other side. His nose hit the foot of the girl before him.

Dylan's eyes squinted and he shouted, "Now Rotom!..." as he shout up and opened his eyes to see not his Pokemon but a girl. His face turned red with embarrassment.

"Oh, sorry. I thought you were my Pokemon." He turned his torso around to see the Ghost Pokemon still sleeping.

Tammy noticed the nice composition of the frame of Ava nudging the new boy. She couldn't resist taking a picture of that lovely linework, the contrast and colour! She lifted her camera up to her eye, focused it, and snapped a quick photo. She looked down at it on the camera and noticed that it had come out... Strange. It was blurry and there were blue cracks in the photo that looked like lightning bolts.

"Hmm."

Cyan had fallen silent while watching the others interact. She looked over at Tammy and tilted her head somewhat, wondering what was on the other's mind.

"Is there something wrong?" Cyan asked softly, not wanting to unintentionally drag attention over to them.

Meanwhile Cyan's Pumpkaboo was pondering on whether or not it should attempt to socialize. The ghost-type eventually came to the conclusion it would rather just stay by it's trainer's side.

Tammy leaned over and showed Cyan the outcome of her photo on the digital screen.

"I guess whatever pokemon that is over there can't be filmed. It looks like an electric type of some kind, but most of those don't interfere with cameras..." Tammy shrugged. "And it was going to be such a good photo, too..."

Cyan glanced over at the digital screen. She focused on it for a few moments until the blurriness of the image made her eyes hurt somewhat.

"I can't say I've heard of any electric types that caused issues with cameras so I'm not much help there.. But I'm sure you'll find even better shots to make up for it so don't fret too much." Cyan gave a smile.

Dylan got to his feet, brushed the dust of his pants and lowered his headphones to his neck. Making eye contact with the girl, he forced a big grin on his face and gave her a thumbs up, "I'm doing great. Just relaxing after a long day of walking." He said half-truthfully.

"I have no reason to tell her my issue. Like I said earlier, 'I'll figure it out eventually'." he thought to himself lowering his hand. "I appreciate your concern though. I randomly yell into the sky from time to time." He snickered brushing his thumb across his nose.

"The name's Dylan. Dylan Gale." he introduced himself, "And the sleepy one here is my best friend and partner, Rotom." he gestured to the sleeping Ghost type on the ground.

"My name is Ava," Ava replied,"and meet my partners Riachu, Turtwig, Lapras, and Charizard. It seems like you have a very close bond with Rotom."

"Do you want to travel with my friends and I?" Ava asked.

"Did you hear that?" Tammy whispered excitedly to her new companion. "Ava - the girl over there - wants us to travel with her! She's the champion, you know!"

She stowed away her camera for now, figuring that the Pokemon would ruin any others she would take. "Me, Tammy, the lowly photographer, with Ava Black the Champion! Oh how exciting!"

Cyan covered her mouth with her hand as she let out a small giggle. "Well aren't you excited... That sounds fun, though. Beats traveling alone that's for sure!"

She took out her second Pokeball and opened it, letting Minun out for a little while. "I wouldn't say a lowly photographer. You two specialize in different stuff, but then, that is just my opinion." Cyan shrugged her shoulders. "So you're Tammy and that's Ava? I'll do my best to remember. No promises, though."

A surprised and confused look crossed Dylan's face. "They want me to travel with them?" he thought to himself.

He looked down at the Ghost Pokemon who now had a nose bubble. Dylan smirked, "Well, I don't know..." he mumbled.

He shifted the weight into his heels and stuck his hands into his pockets, "I kind of have something I need to finish: the reason that I'm on this journey."

Cyan crossed her arms behind her head and hummed to herself until she overheard Dylan. She decided to speak up.

"Oh come on now, lad. We all have our motives to travel. Besides, you'll get to travel with three beautiful ladies. Who could possibly pass that up? Well I mean I can think of many names but.. That isn't the point. Come on, travel with us! It will be fun! I think.."

Tammy elbowed Cyan (who she still did not know the name of, but enjoyed her presence nonetheless), and perked up again. "Nonsense, of course it will be fun. You know the saying, right? Many hands make a heavy load! Or 4 heads are better than none!"

Dylan sighed knowing he wasn't going to get anywhere with these girls. "Alright, I guess." he said shrugging his shoulders. "Maybe these girls can show me what type to use later on." he thought.

"Nice to meet you all. What are your names again?" he asked reaching into his pocket. He pulled out the MP3 that was still playing and switched it off.

Cyan stretched with a loud yawn.

"Alright then. I'm Cyan McClark, future Pokemon Professor!" She introduced pridefully.

"Nice to meet you all. As I said, I'm Dylan Gale: Starlin City Gym Leader..." he explained with a slight pause, "In training." he whispered the last part, but was still audible.

"A gym leader? Then why aren't you at your gym?" Tammy asked. She hadn't heard him speak the last line from her seat at the picnic blanket. "Are you training?"

Dylan rubbed his forehead, "Yeah, you could sort of say that. It's a long story. Currently the gym isn't mine, it's my brother's, but I will be taking it over after he steps down. But he won't do that until..." he pause for a split second, wondering if he should say the question that had been on his mind for the past months.

He looked over all the girls and sighed, "It can't hurt me for them to know. But it is a bit embarrassing." he thought. He finally just decided to spit it out, "Until I figure out what type to use." he let out squinting his eyes tight, just waiting for the laughter of the girls.
