Once upon a time, good and evil were equals, a force of nature that kept the world itself in balace. But tip the scales too far in either direction and chaos reigns supreme. No one knows exactly when it occurred, but a collection of stories soon began to circulate, fairy-tales written by someone named Grimm. Within the stories, good always prevailed and evil was cast to the shadows, princes always found their princesses, fairies were there to lend a helping hand, and witches were always defeated. Though simply works of fiction, the humans of the world were swept away by the idea that good should triumphant over evil and thus began the witch hunts.

No witch was spared, whether they truly harbored the intent to hurt in their hearts or simply wished to help others with their magic, they joined their brethren at the stake. The fairies were caught in the crossfire, the humans expected them to take the side of 'good' and if they were caught aiding the witches, they were stripped of their wings and subsequently, their magic as well.

The conflict, later written in history as the Fairytale War, lasted for a year before the tide changed. Tired of being persecuted, the witches decided that if the humans loved their precious fairy-tale stories so much, they could experience it firsthand. Humans were cursed indiscriminately, whether they had taken part in the carnage or not; their lives were never the same. The Fairytale Curse took Grimm's stories and twisted them, ensuring those cursed would never have normal lives again.

The key to breaking the curses lay in the stories that were the cause of all the conflict, but the witches burned the books to make sure the curses remained unbroken. Though some witches wanted nothing to do with the choice their fellow witches had made and banded together with the fairies to create a safe haven for those that were cursed.

Brookhaven is a cozy little town nestled at the based of a mountain, surrounded by an enchanted forest. Only those with magic or those that have been cursed are able to find the town and cross the barrier that guards its boarders. Whether they have come to try and find help to break their curse or they were ostracized by those around them and driven from their home, Brookhaven stands ready to welcome them with open arms.

i've desperately been wanting to write something fairytale-oriented lately !
i'd love to join with the story cinderella , please !

this looks so so cute.

q: will there be a story to move things forward or will it be closer to a sandbox / slice of life?

It will be closer to a slice of life, with some story elements to keep things interesting

Im interested! I love a good fairytale RP. Would it be possible to to throw my hat in the ring for the fairy tale: the juniper tree?

Could you send me a dm explaining the fairytale and how you would use it as a curse? ^^

I was obsessed with fairytales as a kid, and I still am. Please let me in—
I was thinking something like "The Happy Prince" would be fun~
