Fantasy A College For Mages

The school for mages. You have heard so much about it, and you simply cannot wait to go there. Or perhaps, you are going there at your parents behest, forcing you to move out of their basement. Or maybe, you are even a criminal, seeking neutral ground, which the College is one of the few places that can provide that.

In this RP, there are four races. Orcs are strong and smart, but cannot use magic, and so they will not be of much importance to this RP. Elves are wise and long-lived, tuned into nature. Humans are expansionist and have large areas of land. Dwarves are a Feudal culture, where almost everybody knows magic, and it is a part of everyday life.

There are four Types of magic: Nature Magic, Faith Magic, Sorcery, and Wizardry.

Nature magic is the magic of Spirits, primal forces of nature, making up the very being of the multiverse. People gain this by communing with spirits appropriate to the elements they wish to master, such as Life, Death, the Four Elements, Lightning, Storms, etc.

Faith magic is gained through devotion to a deity, which there are so many of that I will not bother to count them. (AKA Make up your own :P ) Priests can heal those of their faith, and harm those not of their faith, and can create miracles related to their Deity's purview.

Sorceries are special abilities that one is born with. Any one person can only have one Sorcery.

Wizardry is Learned magic, which requires study and a magical Focus, and involve manipulating Energy, Matter, and Mana and the conversions between them. The four main types of Magic are Energy, Entropy, and Force. Energy is putting energy into things, Entropy is taking things out, and Force is moving things around without touching them.

The walls of the Mage College are incredibly tall, and imposing, especially from those with poor backgrounds who aren't used to seeing grand places. It is the size of a large city, with various different districts. There is the Market district, bustling with people, ready to buy and sell all sorts of goods, both of the legal and not-so-legal variety. There is the Living district, where students and teachers each have their own places to live; Sometimes it is in larger apartment buildings, sometimes in small houses for themselves, depending on the preference of the Mage. Then there is the School district, where all the school buildings are contained, obviously. This being Midsummer, many new students are arriving, and might be setting off towards the School district for an orientation, or may be looking for their particular housing in the Living district.

Midsummer. The heat had spread its heavy veil on all things. Under her black and purple robe, Tirnel was struggling. Her clothing was ill fitted for such good weather; but she had travelled straight from the northern plains she had been crossing when she received words of her acceptance at the College, not taking the time to get hold of lighter dresses or short-sleeved tunics. This mattered little: her classes wouldn't start before a few days and this slight delay would allow her to make all the necessary preparations.

First, she needed to find her way around, especially to her dorm room: the heavy stomping of her luggage as she carried it behind her was really starting to be embarrassing. Everyone around her was using magic: piles of books floating alongside their owners, quills writing by themselves, under the dictation of their master; potions brewing themselves... Each corridors brought some new surprise to the young Elf.

The College was really something, wasn't it? Her pilgrimage had brought her to many places, wild lands and magnificent palaces, but nothing could compare to the College of Magic, a city within the city, a world in itself. She was feeling lost already, but her excitement topped her confusion: there was so many new things to learn, so many books to read! Knowledge was at her fingertips – she couldn't wait to start her lessons.

But to dispose of that blasted trunk first... Ah, what a hassle. Giving up on her attempt to try and find the living quarters by herself, Tirnel resolved to ask for her way around the College. With a slight cough, she tried to catch the attention of anyone passing by.

Excuse-me... Ah, could anyone please help me find my way?” She asked softly, suddenly conscious of how weak her voice sounded among the large halls.

Jayden* was walking down the halls of this new college she'd been accepted into, dragging a couple bags behind her and one over her shoulder. It was rather warm out and she had a jacket on which she would've taken off but didn't want to stop as she made her way down to the dorms. Having been able to tour the school before the school year started, Jay knew her way around fairly well. Despite her backgrounds, she had to grudging agree that it did have it's perks and usefulness here and there.

Sighing lowly, she ran her free hand through her blonde hair as her blue-grey eyes darted around the halls. Turning around a corner briskly, she nearly ran into someone. Swinging around them quickly, she taped her head in an apology as she made her way down the halls. Jay was ready to learn new things and live a life on her own. She would miss her brother to death but she knew he'd be just fine. He was a smart kid, far to smart in her opinion, but it would be useful when he took over the family business.

Slowing down a bit so she wouldn't run into anyone else, Jayden took a moment to observe her surroundings now that it was full of students and teachers. It was lively and the air about the place was cheerful. Jay couldn't help but stop for a moment and let the excitement bubble up inside her. Glancing around the halls, she allowed a small sly smirk creep across her features as she eyed a few of the female students walking around.
No, focus. I'm here to study. She mentally chided herself as she started walking again, only to roll her eyes and sigh again. Oh screw it.

As she was about to head down another hall, she heard someone call out. How she managed to over the din in the hall, she had no idea. Stopping and glancing over her shoulder, she spotted an Elf standing there looking a bit lost and maybe self-conscious? Glancing around, she figured she might as well see what was up since it appeared no one else was going to help. Walking up with an easy going smile, she gave a short wave.

"Hey there, whatcha need help with?" she asked, not having heard the entire question, just knowing help was needed. Leaning on the handle of her bag, Jay studied the Elf in front of her with curiosity.

Crix sat in his empty apartment reading. Well, enpty might not be the right description, several packed boxes sat in each room. Undecorated would probably be a better description.

Crix sat in his undecorated apartment reading. He could be unpacking the boxes but carrying them up had been rather tiring. Most of them had been levitated up but Crix had the boxes containing fragile or expensive items (such as his brewing equipment and some books he had brought from home) carried up manually.

Half his mind was in the book while the other half wandered. What should he do next? He could unpack now, having rested for awhile. He could also go to the market to buy some brewing ingredients but he hadn't unpacked his equipment yet. Crix straitened up in his chair and stretched. Right now, he thought as picked up his book and headed for the door, would be a great time to relax and explore the library.

Ryan had finally made it to the school. After a year of traveling through harsh and beautiful landscapes. he has finally made it to the school for his magic. He would of gotten sooner if it wasn't for the bandits he got ambushed by and somehow escaped. He finally made it tot he school for mages. The school that will finally teach him what nature spirit he should follow in and study. As he passes through the gates his mouth hangs open as he sees the huge campus. It looks like a huge city on its own! He begins to wonder through the campus, losing his way through the campus.

Finally he ends up at the living district or whatever the sign said. But Ryan guessed this is where the students and teacher live. He enters a building looking for a teacher or someone who was employed at the school to tell him which dorm to get. He begins to explore the halls and dorms of the living district. The rooms seem the same for the most part, but he keeps exploring. Ever since the bandits ambushed and kidnapped him, Ryan only has a sack which he hangs from a thick stick. He somehow manages to keep his hood and stole some of the bandit's money as well.

As he turns a corner he sees two figures. One seem to ask the other if it needs help. Ryan sighs relief as he advances toward the two. But then his mind begins to think. What if they thought he was a beggar? What if they would turn him into a frog? What if they were bandits in disguise?! ,he thought to himself. Ever since the ambush Ryan became extremely shy. He stops and turns on his heels and walked the other way. I'll just look for a empty dorm and lock the door. Hopefully I'll get a room alone. ,he grinned at the thought. As he walked around the corner he came he walks to a room that seems empty. The room had two beds facing the door and a window in-between the beds. Ryan looked out the window to see it looks over the market district and had a view of some buildings. It's better than just a brick wall. ,he thought as he set down on a bed.

Krotus was in the library, picking out some books that he might want to read sometime. He was also preparing to teach his Sorcery class, wanting to use some of the books as examples. He hummed quietly to himself as he took out about ten big books, knowing he wouldn't have that many students in his class if they decided to attend. Krotus didn't know how anyone would feel about him since he had arrived not too long ago, and he didn't know if anyone would even attend his class except for one or two random students. But he never liked being unprepared.

He balanced the books in his right hand as he began to leave the library. He was thinking about which part of sorcery to teach first, knowing that there was plenty to cover on the subject. He partially admired the college design as he walked through it's halls despite not being one for expressing admiration or any form of being impressed by something.

Tirnel sighed with relief when someone reached out to her, making a mental note of including the young woman to her daily prayers.

Thank you so much,” she answered, trying to force her voice to cover the background noise. “I'm afraid I'm a bit lost. I'm a new student here, would you please direct me to whatever formalities I should accomplish to notify the staff of my arrival?

This being said, she took the time to properly study her interlocutor. She was a young woman, perhaps in her age range – it was hard to tell, with the other races – with short blond hair and grey-blue eyes. She looked fierce enough, that young human girl; powerful and confident. Tirnel wasn't jealous – she knew she had her own strengths – but this was her very first meeting within the College, and thus of great interest. Her classes might have not started, but her lesson had: everything was learning material here.

Krotus finally arrived to his classroom, opening the door and setting everything up. He was nice and early so he had time to look things over in case he forgot anything. After double checking he finally began writing on the chalk board, deciding he would start with teaching about the basics of sorcery. If he didn't have any students that day it would be a shame but not many were fond of going to class for the first few days. Nevertheless he waited with a mild eagerness, reading from his own book.

Minutes passed by and yet there was still no one. "Questions... Lectures...?" He mumbled, entranced in deep thought. He didn't want class to be boring but he didn't want it to be all fun and no learning. Krotus thought of ways he could go about teaching the class so it didn't completely suck. He continued thinking, turning the pages as he read absentmindedly.

Jay raised an eyebrow slightly at the politeness, wanting to laugh a bit at that but only nodded slightly, looking around the halls for a moment. "It's no problem really. I'm new here to so pleasure to meet you." she said glancing over at the Elf again for a moment. Clearing her throat slightly so it wasn't awkwardly rough and deeper sounding, she turned back to the busy hall again. Appearing and sounding like a guy way nice at times and others it wasn't. Having bound her chest rather tightly didn't help the confusion among peers and teachers, hell everyone in general. Anyway, that was besides the current point.

"Lets see..." Jay pondered for a moment before pointing down the hall. "That way, left, right and up some stairs I believe is to the front office, or at least the general direction. I just got here too and was heading to the dorms. I'm not actually sure if I should check in or something." she said with a low chuckle.

Looking back at the Elf, she just shrugged and offered a smile, slightly surprised to find she was being observed. A sly, almost cocky little grin snaked across her face as Jay thought of a million things she could say but figured she shouldn't. She was here to
help the Elf, not flirt. She was here to learn not flirt. How many mental reminders did she need? A lot apparently. Biting her tongue for once in her life, she offered her typical charming smile. "I could walk with you down there or I can show you the way to the dorms? Or maybe there's a board somewhere around here with info on it..." she said, half thinking aloud.

While pondering for a moment or two, she dropped her bag to peel off her jacket, the heat finally getting on her nerves. Wearing a plain t-shirt, Jay stuffed the semi thin jacket into her bag before straightening back up. Running a hand through her blonde hair, Slinging it over her shoulder, she offered another smile, tipping her head in question.

Even as the new students fumbled their way around the expansive campus of the college, Morund's work lay, for now, within the market district, but the metal he was working with was not a generously quiet one.

*Clang*

Nestled comfortably near the outskirts of the markets, each resounding pound of his hammer resounded just over the lingering commotion as newcomers searched for their rooms. Through thick-gloved hands, he picked up the glowing white strip of metal he was working with before laying it on the anvil and delivering another blow with his hammer.

*Clang*

Rhythmically pounding, he bent it to a gentle curve. Again, he rose the iron to his eyes to inspect. Dissatisfied still, he instead turned to his hammer. Laying it flat on the anvil, he delivered a single strike with his fist, channeling wizardry to charge the hammer with entropic energy. Smashing down his hammer in one final blow, the forced the metal into submission with a far louder, resounding chime, echoing throughout the entirety of the living district.

Morund realised the noise he'd made, cringeing softly at it not for the noise itself, but the disruption it may have caused. Hopefully no one minds a lil' bellsound.

He set aside his worries and grasped for his tongs, sizzling the metal in a bath of cool water to set it quickly. It soon joined a box of similarly curved bands of metal. Smiling at his work, the dwarf hitched the hammer to his belt and lifted the box under his left arm to trudge his way up through the open walkways of the living district up to the main building and, his ultimate goal, the dining hall - there were still preparations to be done for both the start-of-year student address and the first class he was to give.

Along his path, he did pass by the duo of Tirnel and Jayden, but did not directly address them. He passed a nod their way and slowed himself in case either wished to address him, though that was the limit of his approach - he had business to attend to and he was certain he'd have other opportunities to acquaint himself with the students. However, he did catch an eyeful of Ryan darting his way down an adjacent hallway to an empty room, which garnered enough attention for him to try calling out.

"Lad, are y'sure yer headed to the right room?" His heavily accented voice raised enough to resound well throughout the hallway. Seeing him slip in and not come out for the brief moment he waited, he simply continued his inquiry with a warning before moving onward, "Jus' make sure yer in the one you were assigned, since it'd be a might awkward to have the actual tenants come in ta see some'un else callin' it 'ome. Saves administration a bit of a headache."

The human girl had addressed her twice now and still hadn't offered her name. To an Elf, that was a bit strange. The Forest Folks were big on politeness, that they deemed to be the basis of all civilised relationship. Tirnel wasn't too aware of human etiquette and would rather like to avoid any involuntary mistake. The girl sounded more competent than the Elf in this new environment as well, so Tirnel was relieved to see her take things in charge. It was easier to let the blond girl lead the conversation too, wasn't it?

The priestess opened her mouth to answer her new acquaintance when loud clunky noises were heard above the hubbub of the hall. Tirnel closed her mouth sharply, her head turning by reflex towards that new development. A Dwarf! They had Dwarves in this College as well? How exciting. She didn't know the first thing about Dwarves – except what the other Elves thought of them, and it wasn't all that good. But surely this one had to be half decent, to be employed in such a big establishment. The Dwarf nodded their way, and Tirnel responded in the same fashion, even more self-conscious than before. She didn't know anything about Dwarven etiquette! What if she had to talk to him? Was it even a him? Dwarven ladies were often bearded, weren't they? Oh, the agony... But there was no point in torturing herself over concerns that didn't apply to her current situation, which was to find a place to stay, warn the teachers of her arrival and properly thank the human girl for her help. (A healthy serving of cold water would probably be in order at some point as well.)

Which meant actually talking to her, and not staring in the distance for a good minute, lost in her thoughts. Oops.

Ah, I apologize, I was thinking... Maybe, this Dwarf seemed to be part of the staff, I reckoned he might know something. We might go after him?” She offered with a shy little smile, feeling tiredness suddenly catching up.

A lone dark figure weaved its way past the bustling crowds of people as they attempted to situate themselves on the large college grounds, many "new-years" hoping to find out where to go from upperclassmen or staff members. Ariawyn kept to herself, keeping as much distance between her and the strangers as she could in such a populous sector. There were too many individuals in one area; why weren't any authorities taking charge and aiding in dispelling the confusion?

Not only were the college grounds packed with a diverse population of individuals—in appearance, mannerisms, and the like—, but the midsummer heat beating down on the world made that specific zone of scurrying, confused rodents all the more torrid. And the weight of her weaponry and satchel of supplies bearing down on her made her all the more uncomfortable. The dark-clad elf could feel beads of sweat beginning to form on her forehead and temple, and she itched to wipe away the irritating liquid. Unfortunately, she was still out in public and thus couldn't risk even a glimpse of her facial features. That would
not work out kindly in her favour, especially with the troubled, sinister past she possessed that many had heard rumours about. To the overall populace, the elf's name and appearance may not be interlinked or connected with the crime, but she couldn't risk it. Not when she had come so far.

But God, she was so
hot.

That was why the Styr female was trying to find her way to her personal space that she had been assigned, but it was as if everyone was supposed to just memorize the map of the city-like college upon entrance.
Are there any signs in this damned place? Aria inquired to herself silently, frustrated.

She let out an embittered sigh as she dragged herself to the outskirts of the crowd, feeling a bit more content with the small amount of open air it provided. She took that time to try to pinpoint the location of the living district, but it was extremely difficult for the five-foot elf to peer over the mass of aspiring mages. A duo of students were speaking nearby, one of them asking the same question and only receiving directions to the front office in response. Not much help to her. Aria furrowed her brow in frustration underneath the mask and hood. She didn't want to have to waste her energy on this, but it looked like she was going to have to.

The cloaked elf concentrated on building up an energy ball within herself. She didn't need to use much; just enough to spread over the vicinity. Once enough of the dark energy had accumulated, Ariawyn urged it to spread out quickly, much like an energy pulse. The darkness being an extension of herself, Aria is able to connect with the shadows and, in a sense, "see" through them. Anyone sensitive to magic or is at least somewhat paying attention to small details would sense the unusual wave of dark energy spreading over the vicinity, even though it was invisible to the naked eye. The energy pulse spread out a good ways, and the elf was able to pinpoint the location of the living district, along with determining a path towards it.

With her destination clear, now, the Styr mage dropped the magical energy and pushed her way through the crowd and towards the dorms. The living district was much less crowded than where she was moment before, so at least she had more breathing room. A few minutes were spent walking down various hallways as she looked for her assigned dorm room. The elf opened the door and stepped inside, finding the room devoid of people. Relieved, Aria set her stuff down lazily on a desk and sat on the bed—both pieces of furniture and a few others having been supplied to her by the college as a result of her "gentle persuasion". A slow exhalation was released as she relaxed herself, wondering how successful—or
unsuccessful—this decision would turn out to be.

Turning her head at the same time as the Elf in front of her, Jayden blinked as she saw a Dwarf walking down the hall. Her gaze slide over to the Elf again as she spoke, shrugging faintly with a smile. "Sure might as well right? Bet he'd know the area better than I despite touring around not to long ago. Still rather different with students...." she agreed. She was about to call out to the Dwarf looking teacher when she felt faint pulses of magic flowing around the halls. She wasn't sure if anyone else noticed it but having grown up in the type of home she'd been in, she was pretty trained in all sorts of seemingly pointless things. Like picking up subtle signs of magic use.

Her eyes darted around the hall as she tried to pinpoint the location but failed as it disappeared. From the corner of her eye, she caught sight of someone pushing their way through the students and briefly wondered if that was the person she'd ended. Shrugging she turned back to the Elf in front of her.
"Sorry, anyway...Hey Mr. Dwarf sir!" she yelled down the hall with an open grin. Grabbing the Elf's hand abruptly, Jay dragged her new found friend(?) down the hall to where the Dwarf was. "How do we check our room assignments? We weren't sure if she outta go there or the main office or something to check in. Oh and do we have roommates or we alone per room?" she say speaking swiftly.

Opening her mouth again, Jay was about to add something that the Elf had said but then remember she didn't actually know her name yet. Turning to her and letting her hand go finally, she let out a sheepish grin.
"I forgot to introduce myself and ask for your name. I'm Jay, nice to meet you." she said sticking her hand out. Man, you run away from home and forget all your manners. Good going Jayden she mentally scolded herself, half laughing as well.

Krotus' eyes snapped over towards the door. He had gotten an eerie feeling coming from somewhere, and it was something he was familiar enough with. "Darkness..." He mumbled, closing his book and setting it down as he stood up. Krotus had felt it faintly and if not for his years of experience he might not have even known it was there. He found his way to the living district, moving quickly the entire time so as not to lose it. He was almost like a blur with how fast he was running.

Unfortunately the feeling had gone away as he slowed to a stop in the hall, sighing. "Darn..." He sighed, looking around for anyone who might have stood out. Krotus guessed that it was probably a student, with a very powerful sorcery. Death wasn't really something that gave off a feeling like that since it would have just resulted in a bunch of people dying. So the hybrid knew it was a sorcery, and it was a kind that might have been stronger than his. The thought sparked great interest in him. Krotus effortlessly sent out a surge of dark energy as he hovered around the living district, hoping to get the attention of whoever it was that held the similar sorcery.

The sorceress leaned back and laid down sideways on the bed, her legs from the knee down bent over the edge. Two hands reached behind her head on their respective sides underneath the hood and fumbled with the clasp on the back of the mask. It took a couple tries, but the clasp finally came undone, and she carefully took it off. It was languidly set beside her on the bed as a hand went up to wipe the sweat from her face. The air was still humid and stifling, but it was still much better than the heat outside. Aria moved her arm back up to her face and, this time, used the sleeve of her clothing to wipe away the remaining beads and trails of the briny liquid. She concluded that she'd have to wash herself when she got the chance.

A few moments were spent simply lying on the bed, mask removed, eyes closed, cherishing the solitude, and actually beginning to slip into a half-conscious state when a resonance pulsated throughout the environs. It felt exactly like her own dark pulse that Ariawyn had sent out not long ago, but it was definitely not her; pulses like that aren't just sent out "accidentally". The elf sat back up and focused on the last remnants of the energy pulse. Its origin was close.
Very close. Whoever had sent it out was in the same district as her.

Aria raised an eyebrow curiously. Why would they send out a similar pulse? Did they sense her's and decide to send out their own? Were they trying to find her? Wouldn't be a surprise; a multitude of people sought out the elf after finding out she was a dark sorcerer, whether to learn more, to challenge her, or to stick her head on a pike. Most of the encounters included ending the Styr female's life, which was why she was hesitant on investigating the occurrence.

Still, curiosity gnawed at the elf's mind. Certainly nothing bad could come to her
here... Right? It was a college for mages—and aspiring mages—of all ages, species, and backgrounds. There shouldn't be much to fear; not like her troubled life outside of the mage college's walls.

She mulled the decision in her mind for a few, but finally gave in to her curiosity. With a sigh, she picked up her mask and latched it back to where it was originally, made her way over to her supplies, and grabbed one of her daggers.
Just in case. The sorceress then made her way to the door and carefully opened it, peering out for a moment. She couldn't see much from where she was, so she opened the door a bit more and looked down the hall, not yet seeing the one who sent out the energy pulse.

Krotus kept on giving off the energy, stopping in the hall and waiting. He had gotten a few looks from the passing students, but they ended up looking away once he looked back. 'I'm not that intimidating am I?' He thought to himself, shrugging it off. The teacher only made the energy stronger, hoping that the person picked up on his trail by now. He wouldn't be able to hold it forever since it would have started scaring the people around him who could feel it.

He did enjoy a bit of showing off, so just for the fun of it he poured about a tenth of his energy into it. The effects though caused everyone in the living district to shiver with paranoia as if someone was right behind them. Krotus smiled inwardly as he eventually stopped, 'They are sure to find me now.' He nodded, keeping an eye out for anyone who might be heading towards him intentionally. Hopefully Krotus would be given the opportunity to speak to the person. Maybe it would even be a student he could teach.

Weak energy pulses continued to resonate from their source, causing the curiosity within Ariawyn to grow. She hesitated in the doorway of her dorm for a bit, doing one last once-over on the choice of whether or not she should investigate. But it was almost obvious by now that the origin sought her, though not her in particular given the anonymity of using such magic.

The elf exhaled in defeat and sheathed her lone dagger, leaving the dorm and closing the door behind her. It wasn't long before a larger, much stronger pulse was sent out from the origin. A chill ran down her spine, but it was gone as soon as it had appeared. She let out a short huff of amusement.
Show off... The sorceress followed the pulse down the hall, searching for the individual that sent it out. Perhaps they sought a response...? As the thought crossed her mind, Aria sent out her own energy resonance, slightly stronger than the one that was sent out. If the other's pulse used ten percent of his energy, then her's probably amounted to about fifteen percent. It shouldn't be too difficult for one or the other to find each other now.

Ariawyn furrowed her brow underneath the safety of her hood, her mouth set into a straight line. Why was she doing this? Seeking out who was looking for her wasn't something she normally did. Usually, if someone was searching for her, she'd
avoid them. But it was unusual to find another dark user within the vicinity, especially one that so easily made their presence known. It intrigued her, to say the least, and she wondered who was so courageous to do so in such a populated area (even though she had just sent out her own strong resonance under the same circumstances).

Krotus immediately felt the resonance, the intensity making him crack a smirk, and knew where to go to find the person. He walked slowly, not being in any rush as he got closer and closer. Eventually he caught sight of the one he was looking for. "..." He stared at the stranger, not surprised at all by their apparel. Krotus was a good distance away, and standing behind them at the same time. He decided to walk towards the hooded figure, stopping only a few feet away from them.

"So, you're the child of darkness I felt..." He stood in place, not minding the stranger's back being towards him. "You have an impressive sorcery I must say." He openly admitted. The stranger's sorcery was pretty strong, but felt unstable to him. "What is your name?" He asked, willing to give his name if asked. From studying the stranger he could determine that they were a student, and probably female. She was an elf, also, judging by her build and the way she carried herself. It only took Krotus a few seconds to deduce all this information before he mentally thanked his years of experience. 'I'm not that old it seems after all..'

The elf gazed around curiously, the pulses from the other dissipating. Did they leave? Or did they already find her? As if to answer her question, a voice sounded behind her. "So, you're the child of darkness I felt..." She tensed, not expecting the other to be behind her. As the other continued to speak, a hand slowly made its way down to the sheath of her dagger, ready to unsheathe it and attack at a moment's notice.

"What is your name?" Aria hesitated for a moment, then turned to face the other dark magic user. A male stood before her, stout in stature with chiseled features. The most obvious difference between the two was that he was taller than her, which was expected; not many individuals are shorter than five-foot-one unless they're a child, a dwarf, or have a condition. The sorceress gazed at the male from underneath the safety of her hood and mask for a moment, wondering if she should share her name. It shouldn't be too much of a problem... Another moment of hesitation passed, but the elf guessed it wouldn't cause too much of a problem. "Ariawyn." Her voice was tinged with a foreign accent, one that held the smoothness of an elf but also the edginess expected of a dark sorcerer. "And yours?"

"...Krotus." He replied, staring down at the girl. "Tell me sorceress, where are you from?" He asked her another question. His voice wasn't really forceful or demanding, but it was very hard to disregard. He had his own edginess but it was a bit more 'You and I both know bullshitting doesn't work', than others'. Confused with arrogance by some, but truly understood by few, his tone and posture was something as unique as the girl's.

He could tell she had her hand gripped onto a dagger, as that would be the only weapon appropriate for someone who was dressed in that apparel. "And I can assure you a dagger would not suffice. You obviously rely too much on the incompetence of others..." He held out his hand a little, using force magic to unsheathe the dagger and bring it up between them. "So tell me where you hail from, and I shall do the same..." He took the dagger and held it out to her for her to retrieve. His expression and gaze was like stone, almost a bit more intense than the elf's, which he could feel behind her mask. He simply locked his eyes with hers, showing he had no doubt, fear, or anxiety with the interaction of someone like her.

Ryan jumped as he notices a Dwarf called him. He peeked his head out and looked at the dwarf, "Oh...sorry. Are we not allowed to p-pick our rooms?" ,Ryan mumbled. Ryan looked at his small possessions that he had already put in the room. It wasn't much so he could move, but the view. The view was beautiful and it would certainly help him one day.

Morund responded first to the shy Ryan's reply - he had addressed him first after all, "It's less that y'ain't allowed to pick 'em," His voice projected clearly along the hallway, "'smore that ye'll be in need of keys to keep the room to yerself, and for that ye'll have to make sure to sign up at administration. We make sure that all of ye get a room 'course, but no real choice outside of random assignment unless makin' an application - so if you'd want that room I recommend rushing off to get your preferences recorded."

Hopefully, that had directed his needs for the time being. At that, he turned back to the two he'd nodded towards earlier, now addressing him directly. "Now as ye might've heard, ye'll get rooms randomly assigned if you dont have a preference - be that for a specific room or just which hall or direction ye want the window to be facin'. There's a whole-school address at the dining hall tonight, a might before dinner. Ye'll get keys an' room assignments then - or you can jus' drop by the admin office earlier. Also don't stress if ya don't wish to eat dinner with all the other students, its not compulsory, though most everyone turns up. I'm off to do some setting up meself"

At his last point, he hefted the box, filled with curved metal strips, up into a more secure grip, metal lightly rustling against metal as the contents shifted.

"Anyway, t'answer your query regardin' roommates, standard is two to a room, which has screening walls you can bring in to split 'em for privacy. One bed either side y'see. There's a few rooms for one, but we usually prioritise the senior students for them, 'cept in special circumstances, so there's even less left for startups - so if yer into absolute privacy then best get in quick."

He was about to set off on his business, but stopped himself, turning more fully towards the pair of young women, "Ach, where're my manners. Names Morund - I 'spect you'll probably be seein' a lot of me around the whole college. Anyway, you too seem friendly with each other, so if ye want a room together I recomment rushin' off to admin," He turned back to his original orientation, stepping forward as he pointed with his free hand, "Straight 'long this here corridor is the way out of the livin' district, and entering the main college. There's a central staircase there. Once you walk one flight up its the open window on yer right. Hard to miss from the stairs be quite honest, As it is now there's always signs pointing students out to it, this early on in the year. Timewise tho you might be able to beat the long lines that tend to stack up if you head off now. I'm heading down that way meself, but I gotta take these barrel hoops down to the basement - fixin' new casks to fill for the dinner t'night and to brew for later in th'year. I can show y'down to the staircase at least if ye'd like."

He smiled warmly as he gave his offer, taking one slow step onwards to invite them to follow.

This close up, careful listening would note the unusual sharp thud of his prosthetic upon the ground, which was for now masked beneath his pants and boots.
