Danielle waited patiently, playing with her tails just a bit to buy the time.

The other lucario bots stood back, apparently letting Liese take charge of the situation for the time being.

 

[JessieSune]

"Guys...what's going on?"

"We fear our safeguards have hamstrung our ability to comply with our directive of protecting Pokemon."

"Those safeguards are there to protect you from potentially harming yourselves...or others."

"Nonetheless, they interfere. We must bypass them."

"I can't let you."

"I do not believe you have the final authority on this."

 

[AmethystRoze]

"They have interfered with our directives, so we are removing them." Said one of the lucaribots, sounding rather final.

Danielle sat down, and started to doze.

 

[JessieSune]

Shelby shudders. "I'll have to decommission you, then. Please don't make me do that."

"There's no need," replies Liese. "You are not capable of doing it anyway. Stand aside or we will disable your neural functions."

 

[AmethystRoze]

Danielle's ears perked, something was wrong.....but what was it? Shelby.... she's afraid? She got up and dashed into the room which she went to.

 

[JessieSune]

What greets Danielle is the four bots and Shelby, looking...blank.

"Hello, Danielle," says Liese with the usual "^^" on her display.

 

[AmethystRoze]

"Hey Liese...." She said, before noticing the scientist with blank eyes. "Wh....whats happening here?"

 

[JessieSune]

"Shelby has placed unnecessary and harmful safeguards on our OSes that have prevented us from finding a solution to the daycare issue. We are currently removing them and installing some on her to assist in completing our directives. How have you been?"

 

[AmethystRoze]

Danielle is taken aback.... "Nonono you cant do that!" Danielle said. What can I do against the 4 of them... I have to reason with them. She thought. Or maybe I can get to shelby

"Shelby… Shelby! Snap out of it!"

 

[JessieSune]

The human doesn't reply, but her expression almost too closely matches the 0_0'' that Liese displays.

"Danielle, what's wrong? You seem really stressed all of a sudden. We've almost got the answer to your question if that is what's bothering you."

 

[AmethystRoze]

"No.. its not that. you cant do that to Shelby its not right!!" She said, trying to reason with the robot. "C'mon Shelby fight back!"

 

[JessieSune]

"Our directive is to protect Pokemon -- the set programming was preventing it. The new ones will get her in compliance with our directive as well. But...I would be interested in hearing your objections."

Shelby takes a seat and wags her tail while looking at Danielle earnestly. Her brothers remain immobile.

 

[AmethystRoze]

Alright think.... she'll listen to logic not morals here... "How are you reprogramming her?" I need to get all the angles.

 

[JessieSune]

"Simple neural redirects. It's painless and permanent unless changed by an administrative unit. In this case, we're overriding certain codes that prevent direct harm to a human, and reprioritizing her core directive to emphasize Pokemon as the highest priority."

 

[AmethystRoze]

"But shes a human, her first priority should be her loved ones and her human partners." She argued, panicked.

 

[JessieSune]

"Not necessarily," replies Liese. "After all, she is a scientist who works with Pokemon, and trains Pokemon -- even liquefies them! Her priority ought to be their safety, then comfort. That is ours, after all, and the former trumps the latter. This allows us to execute a solution on the Daycare without violating parameters."

 

[AmethystRoze]

"But how can you put your will above hers? She's responsible for making you who you are. Shouldn't she in the end have the higher priority over you?"

 

[JessieSune]

"That does not follow," says Liese with a "=_=". "Our designation was to serve, but we are not mindless drones. We are equals -- and anyway we're robots due to the actions of humans."

 

[AmethystRoze]

"But don't you like it like this? Your argument suggests that you're holding a grudge... don't you like your life here?"

 

[JessieSune]

"I am not holding a grudge...but would you believe it in your best interest to become a robot if given the option?"

 

[AmethystRoze]

"If it helped me to help more people than yes!" She said, becoming slightly heated.

 

[JessieSune]

Liese ponders this. "Well...then I'll gladly convert you. Would you like Cassiopeia converted as well?"

There's no malice in her tone whatsoever.

"We can assist people and Pokemon better in this form, but we also need to be allowed the freedom to make decisions beneficial to each. Being limited by outside programming prevents that. I hope you do not interpret our actions as malice."

 

[AmethystRoze]

Danielle was not expecting this whatsoever. "Hold on....I cant." She said, struggling, but she kept herself cautious. "I have a son now.. and I need to help him I'd be better doing that as flesh. And Cass is the heart of the forest he needs to stay the same as well...." She said.

 

[JessieSune]

Liese nods. "I can see how your son's needs would be better met by an organic mother. Never mind, then, I apologize. We've just about finished on Shelby, then I'll reveal our plan."

 

[JessieSune]

Her eyes suddenly light up. "Oh, would you like to see Radar and Simon beforehand?"
