I see, in regards to this I wanted to keep my gods name secret from even the players so the potential pay off is better but do you think I should at least share it with you so we can maybe iron that idea out? You might have insight into ways we can handle this I wouldnt.
Of course! We should also probably decide his power. His power doesn't have to be anything specific, but if it isn't going to work against the threat, we'll need to know the main category of it. (Like light, darkness, fire, that kind of stuff)

The creatures described are not really connected to the mlp setting itself.

Moon Dancer’s study of the Codex revealed a nightmarish pantheon of entities known as the Greatest Shadows—cosmic horrors dwelling in a parallel reality of dark, twisted order. Chief among them was Skleros, a crystalline being of terrifying geometry and power, whose influence stretched across space and time itself. He was a rigid force, growing rather than moving, with ominous eyes embedded in crystalline structures that echoed into the very geology of Moon Dancer’s world. His sister, Skloia, was his vaporous and deceptive counterpart—mist-like, with hypnotic eyes and the power to seduce and infect the minds of ponies, embedding within them her watching Eyes and subtly corrupting their souls.

Other Shadows included Raknon, a bizarre, web-like entity existing outside of linear time. This being served as an oracle even among its own kind, though it remained enigmatic and largely incomprehensible. Then there was Stigasklavon, the tyrant of the Shadow slave races, a malevolent intellect that reassembled itself wherever it went, crafting new bodies from whatever material was present. It ruled over the Automekanergoi—ancient, ensouled machines enslaved by the loss of their divine life-spark, the panspitha. Moon Dancer realized with horror that Sombros may have intended to subject ponies to a similar fate, converting the world itself into a kybertron—an enslaved machine realm.

The catalogue of horrors continued. Parafrosynia, the Mare of Madness, could drive a being insane through mere conversation, while Minymon, a being of electromagnetism, could infiltrate and corrupt advanced machines. The multitude of other Shadows each brought their own brands of terror, and beneath the Greatest lay vast hordes of Ordinary, Lesser, and Least Night Shadows. These beings competed in a brutal hierarchy, constantly preying on one another and seeking to rise by devouring life and fusing with stronger hosts from other realms.

Among these layers also lurked the Shadow Vices—intelligent, virus-like entities that spread through emotional corruption. Though despised by the Shadows, they were in some cases more cunning than their masters, infecting victims through perverse exaggeration of their weaknesses. This added another layer of existential dread to the Shadow hierarchy—a system of parasitism and exploitation that echoed the most grotesque extremes of social and economic systems.

Above all of them loomed Pan-vaster, the All-Destroyer—a godlike being who had overthrown the cosmic order of the Shadow Universe. He had either killed, usurped, or imprisoned the Great Dark, a primordial feminine entity representing death and finality, whose faint echoes Moon Dancer recognized from her own universe’s lore. Pan-vaster had arrested his universe’s natural decay by freezing it in a state of crystalline stasis, where continued existence was bought at the price of eternal torment.

Faced with these revelations, Moon Dancer felt an existential dread beyond words. These were not just powerful enemies but embodiments of unnatural order and parasitic survival, some of whom had already begun to influence her world. Their universe, ruled by dominance, madness, and entropy defied moral understanding. The implications—that her world might already be falling under their shadow, that even the Earth might be changing beneath her hooves—left her shaken and fearful of what might come next.

Or if you want it even shorter:

Moon Dancer’s reading revealed the terrifying reality of the Greatest Shadows, cosmic entities far beyond her previous understanding. Chief among them was Skleros, a crystalline god whose rigid, angular nature allowed him to grow through space and time, warping reality itself. His influence had already infiltrated the Crystal Mountains and City, suggesting a deep, long-standing connection to the Pony world. His sister, Skloia, took a more insidious form: a caustic mist with hypnotic eyes who could psychically infect and control vulnerable ponies, making her power personal and invasive. Raknon, the strange oracle among them, perceived time differently, while Stigasklavon, the brutal enforcer, enslaved sentient machine-races through control of the panspitha, the Spark of Life. These descriptions painted a grim picture of divine cruelty and domination.

The pantheon of Shadows extended beyond even these, encompassing entities like Parafrosynia, who could drive beings mad through mere interaction, and Minymon, a genderless electromagnetic pattern capable of destroying intelligent machines. Below the Greatest Shadows were the vast numbers of Ordinary Shadows, constantly scheming to rise in their hierarchy by consuming life from other universes. The social structure was a brutal pyramid of dominance and exploitation, where each tier oppressed the one beneath it. Slave races, like the Psychomekanoi, and contagious Shadow Vices—intelligent diseases amplifying sin—served as further tools of control and chaos. These horrors suggested a society built entirely on domination, parasitism, and the erosion of autonomy and will.

Above them all loomed Pan-vaster, the All-Destroyer, an entity so terrible that even the Greatest Shadows feared him. He had usurped the original cosmic powers of his universe in a rebellion, crystallizing space-time into a state of eternal torment. Pan-vaster was a mockery of creation itself, an evil counterpart to a divine father figure, who had slain or corrupted the female embodiment of finality known as the Great Dark. The distorted universe he ruled was one where entropy was unnaturally halted, prolonging existence in a state of suffering. This vision of a corrupted, frozen cosmos ruled by a sadistic god shook Moon Dancer to her core, blurring the boundaries between myth and science, and leaving her wondering about the true nature of her own world.

I just like the science fantasy vibes.

Thats better, so for this I kinda like the of it being one particular entity we're contending against perhaps with the threat of others following it if we don't deal with them. They seem pretty lovecraftian so it works with being an outside threat normal gods would have a hard time contending with. While some of the more sciency aspects may need to be tweaked to work with the magical world it could certainly work as these being chaotic entities alien to our worlds natural order spiritual or otherwise.

Btw what's should the situation with the mentor and their apprentices be? Do they all live in the same place? Or perhaps should he just be nomadic and come upon them every now and again or they go to a certain location to meet up with him all while balancing their normal lives.

They would definitely still have normal lives that need to be balanced along with their training. Uhmmm maybe instead of always living in the same place they can simply spend weekends in the same house?

or the mentor's house could be like a clubhouse for the teens basically, where they go after their normal life stuff like school and things? I think, idk how much this would apply to the other students but at least Valentine would like the escape from where he's forced to live lol

Lol like a magical boys and girls club. Chock it to extra curricular or even volunteer hours helping an old man out.

definitely along the lines of how Valentine would retort if he's irritated at the mentor XD

tho, big question. Would we be starting with them just meeting the mentor or already into it? cuz we haven't had any talk about abilities and stuff. I'm guessing they'll awaken powers or something?

Personally I'd like to RP meeting with them I think that'd be a good moment. Perhaps we can do a case by cas basis where players can tell me what they'd prefer if they had already met the Damon and their relationship. Me and L4d talked a put some ability stuff but the current idea is that he can't control what they get and that it's based partially on their personality's and desires. But he will be what grants them powers.

oooh, okay. What would be his reason for choosing the teens tho? Or would it be a case of "ah, yes, this teen bumped into me and told me to fuck off. i think that level of spunk should do slaps some powers on the angry chihuahua"? XD

Wonderful question. Still up in the air honestly. My current ideas can be summed up as random chance, potential and necessity. Perhaps he encountered on of them in a sticky situation and granted them power so they could save themselves. Or maybe they heard rumors of some kind and sought him out whether it was for something mundane or otherwise. There was also the idea of him not being in direct control of who got these abilities only able to invoke the miracle that would allow it and then having to find each of them himself. Like I said, up in the air. But we can hash it put especially when all our players get situated.

makes sense. I don't mind either way as long as I know which is gonna be used for Valentine so I can incorporate it properly lol

My idea for why they were chosen was that it was a sort of "destiny" thing, where although Damon doesn't know why, he knows that these kids are the ones that have to save their plant from the threat and that no one else would do

I know you meant planet but all I can imagine is just a bunch of teenagers using broomsticks and spraybottles to try and protect a tiny plant from some gophers or grackles or something xD

phibglib phibglib good shit on that CS I admit Im the type who likes longer backstories and more detailed personalities, but thats just me. Still good plus it gives room for building things up during the story an Im ALL for that!

Yeah, to be honest, I didn't really know what else to put there.
