Even that wouldn't help that much. A warship of that size would be obsolete before the kiel touched water. With an escort, it would stop any surface ship attack, subs would still be able to engage, and any anti-surface missiles, that superwarship is not going to be of much use my friend. With today's technology, this is true. But with missile and air defense systems, sub-hunting aircraft, and next generation armor, the only thing that could pose a viable threat to the Charlemagne would be a straight naval engagement with a small fleet of warships.

Well, with subs I wasn't talking about missiles, but if you launched every missile off of 5 subs, or 6 guided missile warships, 10-20% would make it through, even in 'tomorrows' technology. And sub hunting aircraft can only do so much, but it would be hard to see the Charlemagne being an effective warship, much like the Iowa class in the 1980s, it could only serve well at land bombardment. Which actually would be helpfu for you since you are going to have a problem with Iran.

I mean, it'd take some bruises but it would kind of be designed to survive getting shot a few times.

Naval Warfare is based off the carrier. This was demonstrated in WW2. The only reason Naval warfare shifted to the carrier was because airpower became much more effective. Navies cant compete with air forces. Navies are for exerting power abroad and would to little good in a European war .( Personal idea feel free to disagree or refute, I am no Military historian just an enthusiast
