I finally found some concept art that captures the audacity of the floating fortress project. The prototype won't be this big, but the finished project will be. We'll need to build a special shipyard just to construct these suckers. Without further ado, the Charlemagne-class floating fortress, with the USS Iowa thrown in for scale.

I finally found some concept art that captures the audacity of the floating fortress project. The prototype won't be this big, but the finished project will be. Even half the size of that is going to be pretty damn big, it'll probably take a few years just to construct one, I wouldn't plan on having more than 2 or 3 at a time.

That is one big-ass ship, even at half the size. The only problem is it would only take 2-5 submarines or anywhere around half a dozen Guided missile destroyers and cruisers to sink it. It would be a titanic failure.
