If they succeed in creating an anti-Russia coalition with Finland, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria, they'll not only have buffered Western Europe, but they'll also put Germany in a tight geopolitical position being surrounded by potentially hostile militaries. Deja vu, Germany.

It'd just be a war of attrition, and since the U.K would be the defender; the people would have more heart, and the attackers would have unfavorable odds due to the modern nature of jets being able to be deployed in seconds to intercept hostile aircraft.

You also raise a good point about Spain. I planned on the French reversing their stance on the Basque culture and language and granting the Northern Basque more autonomy or complete independence and use it as a political wedge to incite the Spanish Basques to revolt, then try to incite Catalonia to separate from Spain as well with French support, thus having two friendly governments as a buffer to the Spanish.
