You called? I'd be more than willing to pitch in! I don't know all the lore so I can't help with that but I've been RPing for 6 years and GMing seriously for about 3 and I can help keep track of all the other minutiae.
In my head, for now, yes-- it's a not so subtle reference to the modern phenomenon of western forcible democracy as an attempt to "stabilize" the region. But obviously you can make it what you want.
