@Bone2pick
This argument is going nowhere and engaging a thread I already dislike and was reluctant to return to.
At this point we are going back-and-forth while simultaneously becoming more and more on edge as we go along. Our posts are beginning to contain subtle jabs in an effort to...
@Bone2pick
If you knew I though the requirement of "multiparagraph" history was a waste of time already, why ask?
But here's my implications based on your own: When you give specific details never originally stated in the point-of-view you quote, you appear to be misinterpreting my words...
Obviously so.
But your inquiry puzzles me. How do you reach the implication that I believe "...it's a waste of time for the GM to read through [a character's history], and possibly reference it in the future..." from any of what I posted earlier? To expand on my actual words, I think being...
How high are your standards?
I wouldn't say high; I join whichever roleplay I fancy.
How many RPs are you in right now?
A single one-on-one. I have no motivation to search further.
If a RP gets boring, how likely are you to withdraw?
I am mostly to withdraw from a stagnant roleplay or...
Strongly depends on the roleplay, though I typically prefer a maximum of two in a group roleplay. Private one-on-ones and game mastering usually call for multiple minor characters.
An idea that wilted and never went anywhere is a failure, to me. What constitutes a roleplaying flop is if it never goes as far as the creator intended. If it never got off the ground, it failed. If it never finished, in some cases, that is considered a failure.
A good writer is someone who understands basic writing standards and uses this prior knowledge to establish their own style and feel.
A good roleplayer is someone who can characterize and mingle well with other writers, as well as build an overarching story effectively.
That's how I...
The "Adept" surged forward before she could even get an eyeful of what lay behind that inquisitive little door. Winnie had approached it with little precaution, but the boy's business went swifter than expected. She flinched, seeing his figure approach from the impenetrable darkness she'd been...
I certainly see where you've coming from, Circus.
Character applications, in their typical form, are very useful as skeletons. Relying on them, from my perspective, is a big mistake. Applications should be brief, giving the necessities needed for your partner(s) to visualize them, while still...
She searched the "Adept". He spoke of the unholy realm in such a casual manner. That was proof enough he and his demon kin made frequent visits. That and he held a peculiar object - some demonic tool, perhaps a torture weapon - and his bangs made him look like a girl. How fascinating demons...
I only dislike pictures when established characters and people have their snapshots paired alongside "Crystal Kasakama" and "Georgarita Neko-channa".
But roleplays I tend to think sourly of are the one-on-one romance types, as they base around a single concept. The plot tends to rush along...
Winnie scoffed at the boy's inadequate response, spoken in such a sickeningly magisterial way. "I'm not Inept. I'm human. Besides, my daddy says 'magical ab-il-la-ties' are witchcraft and witchcraft'll take you to Hell."
The word slipped out, leaving her tongue hot in its wake, as if she'd...
His voice was colder than the winds whipping outside and, just like the cold, it pricked under her skin like little needles. It loomed abominably overhead, as if his black magic gave him superiority. The boy didn't look much older than Winnie, now that no foggy window nor any other boundary lay...
Words exuded from a clouded window and Wendy broke away from her barrage in order to listen in. She saw the desperation etched on his face retorted with a smirk. It seemed her anger had attracted a pleasant change after all. Thank heavens she'd violently expressed herself with wads of snow...
Not exactly sure. Perhaps the only themes I've seen used aren't "immersive" as they are just one of the writer's favorites. And, of course, there's always the issue of conflicting musical taste.
I suppose it just boils down to the type of music used, which I typically cringe at.
