Okay, but wouldn't his focus have been more on making himself a hut to sleep in? I mean, the others prob aren't gonna share and Rose wouldn't want him to permanently stay in the clubhouse while he's also there to 'extreme survival training'

No mentions on his dragon? Everyone currently on Dragons Edge has at least one dragon otherwise they weren't allowed to go in the first place. Most huts are also completed, so they'd have a map of the island itself already.
