Sarah led Tori from the lake and eventually stopped at a field.
"This is where we grow most of our own fruits and veggies. The tractor's busted right now butting will get fixed soon." Sarah smiled and touched a new shoot lightly.
Sarah looked over at Tori and smiled reassuringly. She wrapped her arms around Tori's shoulders for a hug and squeezed tight.
"Every think will be okay; you'll see." She hopped up and brushed the dirt off her jeans. "Come on, I want to show you the rest of the grounds!"
Sarah looked out at the water for a while before speaking.
"When I first saw this place, I couldn't believe it. I always wanted a home and this place really has become my home." Sarah looked over at Tori and smiled. "Hopefully it can feel like home to you too."
Sarah smiled. She really likes this girl. "Well, the high school in town has a swim team so you could still join if you wanted."
Sarah walked to the edge of the lake and took a seat. She smiled at Tori and patted the spot next to her wanting Tori to join her.
Sarah smiled and placed her cup in the sink.
"Great lets go!" Sarah led Tori out the back door and down a little path. Soon they passed through a small forest that opened up to a huge lake. "This is our lake. It's a really great place to go swimming in the summer, and when it gets cold enough...
"Great!" Sarah said happily. "I really do hope you like it here, everyone is really great. Well, Drake can be a bit ornery but you'll get used to him."
Sarah picked her head up when she heard talking.
"Hey Tori!" She said with a smile. "I saved you a plate of breakfast in the fridge if you want it. We were just discussing what everyone was doing today. Do you have any plans?"
Sarah followed the young girl through an alleyway to what looked like an abandoned house. Boots purred the whole way as if to tell her that everything would be okay.
"Hi Natty!" The young girl said "And Nick! New comers!" Sarah looked around in amazement. She couldn't believe how amazing this...
Sarah turned to Darien as Vic explained her knowledge of cars.
"I don't exactly know. It won't start; I've tried everything but it just won't start." She sighed in frustration and sat back down at the table, laying her head down with a loud THUMP. She hated not knowing how to fix things, even...
Sarah was glad that Vic was going to see Timmy today. She tried not to mother everyone too much, but she couldn't help it. She knew Vic wouldn't get into too much trouble with Timmy.
"No, just wondering. Tell Timmy I said happy birthday!"
Just then Darien came into the kitchen and sat down...
As Sarah was drying the rest of the dishes she saw Vic enter the kitchen.
"Good morning sunshine; your breakfast is in the microwave."
When she looked over she could tell that Vic had been drinking, but she said nothing. No use scolding someone when they were already punishing themselves...
Sarah was deep in thought as she washed the dishes from breakfast. She was thinking about her life and what had brought her to this place. She never even knew she had a great grandmother, then one day a lawyer just showed up and handed her the deed to this house. It wasn't long after that time...
At the mention of a knife Sarah's eyes gre wide and she pulled her cat closer. The red haired girl looked annoyed and turned to leave when Sarah called out.
"Wait! Can I go with you? My name's Sarah." She ran to stand next to her and stood patiently waiting for a reply.
