As the Aberrant was struck with lightning and quickly attacked in succession by not only Hikari, but Eve - Eulalia noticed Eve fall on her knees in despair. Weakly breathing, she nearly called out to her until noticing her once more return to her previous for and dash forward. The Aberrant let out a mighty roar from the attack after it was flung back. Landing on it's back - from what Eulalia could surmise, it began struggling to get up.

Eulalia's own strength was struggling to meet its' standard. She allowed herself to fly towards Hikari, and once failing to land - only on her knees next to the girl - she weakly glanced up at her.

"St-stand... still.. aim..." She weakly commanded while beginning to pant and clutching her side again. Resting her hand on Hikari's thigh in hopes she would not move after the Aberrant was back up - it began to charge at the trio once more. Eulalia had hoped Eve would fend the creature off as Eulalia's own power began to activate. Her hand began to give off a subtle glow, and Hikari would feel a charge in her own powers. Her own voltage quickly beginning to power up as the Aberrant let out another frustrated roar with its' own gashes - seemingly unaffected.

Yuzu Sakai

With his words unable to reach the infected agent and his arms being further pressed down toward his face, the metal of his armor creaked and groaned from the bending and morphing of the dull arm-blades wielded by the deformed Vanguard agent. Struggling to push the monstrosity off him, Yuzu barely had time to react as the gaping hole—what he could only assume was the creature’s mouth—began oozing a greenish fluid. Luckily, he tilted his head to one side just as the substance dripped past his helmet. The sharp sound of sizzling filled the air as the liquid made contact with the floorboard beside him. It was acid.

"Great... as if this couldn't get any worse..."

While wrestling with the corrupted agent, Yuzu could hear the commotion not far from where he had been just moments before. His team was also struggling to handle the other infected monstrosities.
Just as he was about to attempt contact with his team to call for a retreat, the weak voice of Eulalia crackled through the comm. radio, catching his attention. He recognized that tone all too well—she was hurt. It wasn't the first time he had heard his comrades in such a state. Had his decision to split the teams been a mistake? Had he just sent them all to their deaths?

These thoughts hammered at him, nearly causing him to lose focus, but the furious roar of the creature before him snapped him out of his daze.

Shoving aside the weight of his guilt, he realized that dwelling on negativity wouldn't help. Trying to reason with the agent before him was clearly useless. "Agents...! Do not hesitate..! These things are no longer human—destroy them all!" His voice rang over the comms. Their orders had been to bring back the missing agents, but now that those very agents had turned hostile—along with he civilians—it was a risk Yuzu was not willing to take. Holding back was no longer an option.

"Crimson Ignition!"

The moment Yuzu spoke, sparks crackled through the air, and the temperature inside the café skyrocketed. The searing heat caused the corrupted agent to ease its pressure on Yuzu, momentarily confused. That instant was all he needed. In a flash, Yuzu’s entire body ignited, flames consuming him as the monstrous agent stumbled back, desperately attempting to wave off the fire engulfing its form. Rising to his feet, Yuzu stood wreathed in fire, the orange glow of his armor's eyes the only visible feature beneath the blaze. In an instant, he lunged at the staggered agent, twisting his body mid-motion before launching his right leg forward, aiming straight for its chest. "Blazing Ruin..." With a hushed breath, his blazing, armored foot made contact—then, the café erupted in a massive fiery explosion. The shockwave rocked the surrounding buildings, and the infected agent’s body was sent hurtling through the sky like a blazing comet. A flaming hole gaped through its chest as it crashed hundreds of feet away from where the café once stood.

With his enemy eliminated, Yuzu broke into a full sprint back toward his team. By the time he arrived, he took in the grim sight before him—Gio being slammed into a lamppost, Garth overwhelmed by infected civilians. Yuzu grit his teeth. There were too many of them. A retreat could risk his team getting surrounded or ambushed. Worse yet, with the squad split up, he couldn't risk using any large-scale attacks without endangering his comrades. He was already breathing heavily—struggling against the corrupted agent moments ago and unleashing two of his high-stakes abilities had drained him more than he cared to admit. But he had no time to hesitate.

Even though his body was no longer ablaze, as he swung his leg toward the creatures pinning down Garth, a small opening near the heel of his armored foot slid open. A sudden burst of propulsion ignited from within, accelerating his kick with tremendous force. The impact sent the two monstrosities flying off his squadmate. "Garth..! Get up and regroup with Gio and Sora! Get as far as you can from here! I'll take it from here... Now, hurry!"

The farther his squadmates got, the greater the wave of his next strike could be. However, Yuzu wasn’t even sure if he could endure his next attack without damaging his own suit—or whether he’d still be conscious after it.

Garth would luck out when it turned out stabbing one of the not-humans in the neck was enough to stun it for awhile, now mostly just being a dead weight on the agent’s body. However the other one was still active, clawing at Garth’s helmet, the agent’s elbow just barely holding the creature’s head back from getting a bite in.

The still active not-human had begun drooling, this bodily fluid apparently acidic, as drops of it were sizzling on Garth’s armor, thankfully the Vanguard created design being able to not immediately be destroyed. Garth would then pull back his hand with the knife in it, attempting to stab the other not-human in the throat like the other one.

But Garth would not get the chance, as before he could strike, an arrow whizzed from across the street, embedding itself in the creature’s side. The not-human would then seize up, clearly in shock from the projectile hitting. Garth would then take this momentary advantage to try and push the two not-humans off of him, but would find it hard, the spores seemingly having made them heavier than an average human.

Then a miracle would happen, as Yuzu rushed over to Garth apparently having survived the rocket attack. With unnatural power, Yuzu would deliver a kick that sent both of the stunned not-humans of Garth. The agent would move immediately, rolling out from where he was previously pinned, grabbing his rifle again as he rolled.

As Garth was getting back onto his feet, Yuzu would command him to regroup with his two other squad mates and flee. This order bewildered Garth, especially since he noted it meant Yuzu would stay behind. Garth really didn’t want to abandon his squad commander on his very first mission, but then again this mission was already a complete wreck.

“Repeat that order again captain?” asked Garth.

While he had heard the order perfectly, Garth wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to do. But he decided to at least do the the first part of the order, Garth moving over towards where Sora was. It was only while moving that Garth realized that he had lost track of Gio, the religious agent apparently lost somewhere among the horde of not-humans.

Whipping around, looking for the other agent, Garth’s HUD would alert him to movement a few meters away. Turning toward the movement, Garth saw Gio, a wall of something that looked like glass blocking some not-humans from getting to him.

“Gio, get over here!” shouted Garth.

But before he could utter a response, Gio would be assaulted by a creature that destroyed his barrier and sent him flying. Cursing quietly, Garth would sprint over to the knocked back agent, Gio looking a little stunned as he was collapsed next to a light post.

“Sora, give me cover fire!” ordered Garth.

No longer using kid gloves, Garth would fire his rifle at the not-human that had knocked Gio back. Bullets would pierce its skin, making a squishy noise, as the not-human was temporarily stunned by the attack. But there were plenty more of them still moving, coming at the four agents with almost a hungry like expression.

Garth would ignore the twisted looks on their faces, as he got over to Gio, pulling the agent up off the ground. Grunting as he tried to support Gio, Garth would start moving back to where Sora and Yuzu were.

“Come on buddy, we need to move,” said Garth.

As Garth retreated, he was barely reacting to the fire summoned by Yuzu, the squad leader using his aspect ability to force back the not-humans. But right now all Garth was really focused on was getting out of here, hopefully meeting up with the other two squads that had split up.

They groaned softly as they rolled onto their back, for a second forgetting their situation. But the sounds and shouts from their fellow teammates began to ground the other as they painfully rolled back to their side and forced themselves onto their hands and knees.

“For the love of Sol, how did I get here?”
They whispered as a hand caused Gio to jump, being pulled up to their feet, and looked up to the man they believed was called Garth.

Gio looked at him, Sora, and then landed on Yuzu as they found their balance, and followed Garth. They knew Yuzu was hurt; the movements compared to earlier seemed just a bit off, and something bad was going to happen. Gio understood there was an order to retreat, but Gio wasn’t going to go without doing something, anything. So they pulled away from Garth for a moment.

“Wait! Let me help Yuzu for a second! Cover for me!”

Gio, though still in pain, would rush over to their team captain, stumbling over his own feet as they placed a gentle hand on Yuzu’s shoulder, remembering a conversation they had with the person who made his suit.

“My powers sometimes require me to have to touch someone, physically. If I have gloves then it won’t be as effective.”

“Oh…I see. I can modify it so it can do this. When you touch someone and use your powers, the nano-mesh will connect with the other suit and make destroy and then repair the other suit when you are done that way you hand won’t directly be exposed to outside things. Yeah?”

“It..can do that?”

“Well, I think I can make it work.”

“I see..let’s try.”

Praying and hoping it would work, soon, a cold hand could feel skin and Gio behind their mask closed their eyes and energy between the two began to morph and twist, life from Gio seeping into Yuzu, almost like an adrenaline rush but, much more calm and soothing. However in doing so, Gio seemed to grow weaker as they pulled their hand away, both suits both appearing to be unharmed though skin and skin contact was made.

“Thank God it worked…you also cannot take them all on your own. Run when you get a chance, but if you can’t, take these.”

Gio produced a tightly sealed bag, supposedly with some type of snack which happened to be the rest of Gio’s chocolate they had, making a mental note to make more.

“Eat it, all. It should heal you enough to walk back.”

Gio forced it to Yuzu, stumbling backwards as they waited for some response before turning and sprinting back to Garth and Sora, quickly grabbing onto Garth as his legs for a moment gave out and the pain they felt only got worse.

“S-sorry Garth. I had to heal him, just a little bit,”
Gio breathed out, their own legs no barely keeping up but there was some type of strength behind their voice during their next statement.
“You have to get me to the other groups. If we are like this then I cannot imagine what the others might be like. I have to do something.”

3c9030871a7b40afcfedca1be4af8a36.jpg Eve's mind was fully focused on the aberrant. She felt her consciousness go in and out, it was a mental struggle between her and the monstrous wolf that desperately wanted to take over. When the aberrant stood back up and roared out in frustration, Eve roared out back louder. You could hear her voice, but it sounded monstrous and distorted. Eve and the aberrant charged towards each other at full force and crashed into each other. The aberrant managed to get the upper hand, and Eve fell backwards with the aberrant on top of her, but she didn't hesitate to fling the aberrant off of her. Eve stood up and charged at it again and grabbed the aberrant by the arm and lifted it into the air then smashed it into the ground. Eve's mind at that point had felt foggy, and she felt herself slipping as her body moved to grab the aberrant again by the ankle and smash it against a big rock nearby. The aberrant went limp and Eve starred at it breathing heavily before her mind went completely blank she shifted back and fell to the ground on her butt still breathing heavily. She stared at the aberrant, wide-eyed. She breathed in, trying to calm her heart and catch her breath, then she glanced over at Eulalia and Hikari, but just when Eve thought it was over, the aberrant twitched and within seconds got up and charged at Eve.
