Bang! went the loud, metallic sound along the length of the stone corridor that they had temporally occupied. There stood the Legionnaire whom Cyan had failed earlier, in a nonchalant stance, expression unreadable from the low shadow of his helmet.

"Cyan. Peregrine. You are to accompany me ," he issued clipped orders of discipline. "In the name of Lord Zalunbar."

Eyebrow raised by Peregrine. "To where?" was the careful but curious inquiry.

"A tour of the city. His Radiance has taken an interest in you." The Legionnaire's gaze fell squarely on Cyan. "He wishes for you to see the core of the Legion's strength before arriving at the training grounds-where he intends to witness yours."

With that they stepped once again outside onto the streets, and dusk began washing over the city in its first warm amber and crimson flushes, stretching long shadows from the looming statues and towering colonnade. The disciplined rhythm of Darknut life moved around them: while Gymnatai went on practicing rigid spear drills in orderly formations, Hoplites patrolled in methodical circuits along the high walls, ever watchful. In the distance, Peltasts practiced volleys of javelins in synchronized rhythm, their throws arcing like flocking birds of prey before thudding into reinforced targets.

The Legionnaire guided them in silence, the weight of his earlier defeat not spoken of, yet heavy in the air between them. He spoke only to identify parts of the city: "This is the Hall of Devotion-where oaths are sworn and ranks bestowed." "That tower is the Bastion of the Red Watch-our night patrols convene there."

At last, they came to the training grounds: a vast hollow, darkened by stone and encircled by towering statues of the Legion deities past, gazing down on the scene with empty eyes like silent judges. Warriors were lined in rows, honing their craft within marked circles: iron striking iron in a relentless chorus of discipline. Sweat, incense, and the rhythmic cadence of war chants echoed in the background.

The Legionnaire turned to Cyan. "This is where we test resolve and mettle. Zalunbar himself will be watching."

He gestured toward the central sparring circle, the largest of them all-its floor was black marble and scarred with ancient runes, humming slightly beneath footfalls. A silhouette walked across the heights above, gilded and touched with crimson light.

Then Peregrine moved beside him, giving just a slight nod. "It looks like your moment's come, my friend. Let's see how deep this rabbit hole goes."

Well, so much for be able to avoid making a hard choice! Pit stared calmly at Mythra as she scoffed and looked away from him. "... What do you want me to say, Mythra? That you're right? Fine! You're right! You've been right about everything! We cannot keep getting caught up in everyone's problems, not while there is a much bigger threat to handle. The others may be fighting right now and need our help!"

Pit shut his eyes as he tried to gather his thoughts, not exactly an easy thing for an angel who preferred action over contemplation. "But... if this does give us a chance to see this Lunaris creep, we shouldn't pass it up!" He then grinned, brimming with confidence. "He's clearly scared of us; why else would he try to turn the whole world against us? He can't be any worse than Tabuu, Galeem, or Dharkon! I bet between the three of us we'll have Lunaris crushed before dinner time! Imagine the looks on everyone's faces when we show up and tell them the Realm is saved! Then we can finally have our party!"

One can always count on Pit to have his mind on food! The smile then disappeared, the angel's face suddenly serious. "I know the risks, Mythra, but if there is a chance I can take down the enemy Boss once and for all, I'm gonna take it." He shouldered his bow. "All I need is one good shot!"

Pit had made his decision. As much as he loathed the thought of their group splitting up, especially after Toon Link's disappearance, he was not going to judge Mythra nor stop her should she decide to take a different path.

The old chocobo rancher sighed and shook his head. "That's a grim thing yer speakin' of, and I'd rather my family not get caught up in that kind o' business. Still, if yer set on goin', at least take this with yer." He retrieved two full-faced headpieces that resembled a chocobo's head. "These're chocobo jockey hats. Maybe they'll keep folk from bein' suspicious."

"And we'll lend you our swiftest chocobo, Cirrus!" Christi added.

The solemn-faced chocobo with messy headfeathers uncannily similar to a certain blonde-haired, buster-sword-wielding swordsman looked to Christi upon hearing his name. "Wark!"

At the Gorman Track, a horse ranch not too far from the Chocobo Ranch, Ingo slipped off his horse, the arrogance he displayed earlier replaced by pure distress.

"SHOOOOOOOOOOT!!!" Ingo shouted, hands clutching his head as he writhed in panic. "The Super Smash Brothers! Here! Of all the times for THEM to show up! And they're helping those chicken farmers!"

Ingo's twin brothers, who unlike their foppish triplet wore the simple overalls of stablemen, looked to each other and then at Ingo. The youngest triplet rubbed his hands together, round sunken eyes alight with greed.

"The Smash Brothers? Ho-ho! Lord Lunaris will richly reward us for their capture! Let's go after them, brothers!"

Ingo straightened and stomped over to his sibling, forcing him to wilt. His voice dripped sarcasm in the beginning then rose into a rant. "Yes, my clever little brother! A brrrrrilliant idea! Let us, a group of horse ranchers, go and capture the legendary Super Smash Brothers, the greatest warriors in all of the world and beyond! I can't possibly imagine how this will go wrong for us! Why, I'd bet they'll quake in their shoes the moment they lay eyes on us! Lead the charge, brother!"

Believing his point to have been made, he turned his back on his siblings, stroking his mustache as he plotted. "No, we cannot fight them. I cannot have ol' Graham winning those races and becoming an equal to me, the great Ingo! This will require cunning... and I have just the idea!"

Ingo turned to his brothers again, mustache crooked in a devious grin. "Do we still have those Bombchus?"

At Cheese's bold charge, the eyes of the kut-out glowed red! With a maniacal laugh, the boss fired lasers at the little Chao!

"MUAHAHAHAAA-HA!! Zap zap, little bug!" it taunted. It's laughter became a nervous gulp as Captain Falcon rushed toward it like a rocket and sent his famous Falcon Punch straight into the kut-out's middle, tearing a flaming hole into it and sending it falling backwards.

"D'OOOH-HOO-HOO-HOO!!" it wailed as it fell and vanished into the foliage.

Before Odessa could even relax and process the oddity she had just beheld, the Kut-Out Lunaris sprang into view behind her, its obnoxious high-pitched laugh causing her to jump! She barely had time to whirl around and swing her Shemum-tipped staff to deflect a laser beam! Just what kind of cardboard is this thing made off?!

While the Super Smash Brothers were distracted by the Kut-Out Lunaris, a group of Klumps, leafy twigs attached to their helmets in a bare-minimum attempt at camouflage, tip-toed behind each of them with barrels in tow. At the signal from their leader, the Klumps brought the barrels down upon Captain Falcon, Shadow, Mog, and Cream in a swift attempt to trap them inside! A Kasplat rushed out of the brush, scooped up Odessa, and passed the Kut-Out.

"Don't worry, toots! I gots yer!"

Odessa struggled feebly in the muscular Kremling's arms. "Ugh! Let go of me! Put me down at once!"

As the Kokiri village welcomed Link, there was one who kept his distance. Too timid to speak to the Hylian hero, this Kokiri was content to watch while hidden in the shaded branches of a nearby tree. Hovering above him was his partner, a purple fairy.

"Th-the Gloom is g-gone, and p-p-peace has returned to our forest," Ayen the Kokiri stuttered, a smile on his face. "Th-thanks to the Super Smash Br-Brothers! Everything is g-g-gonna be okay!"

The fairy was quite dour, and he could not keep the resentment out of his voice as he spoke. "Okay? You think everything will be okay? The Great Deku Tree is dead! We saw what Lord Lunaris did to him. We were there when he drove that stake of dark magic into his trunk! He died slowly and in agony, and we could do nothing about it! We were his caregivers, and we could do nothing!"

Ayen's voice was subdued as he tried to reason with his fairy. "Th-the Great D-deku Tree bade us flee wh-when the Masked One appeared, D-dart..."

"Yeah, and it's because you're weak! You carry the Kokiri sword, and you can't even muster up the courage to use it to defend our father! How did you get to be the Great Deku Tree's caregiver, and how did I get paired up with you?"

Ayen looked down, clearly hurt by Dart's words.

Dart glowered at the children of the forest as they laughed and chatted with Link. "Look at those fools. They're celebrating that 'hero's' arrival as though he will suddenly fix everything! If only they had seen what I have seen. It will all be for nothing. This whole Realm is dying. They know it, yet they refuse to believe it. So what if the Gloom is gone!"

His spirit dampened, Ayen watched Link and the other Kokiri in silence. Dart hovered nearby. The fairy had learned one thing this past year: only the mighty will inherit this world! There will be no place for weak ones such as his pathetic excuse for a partner. Ayen will just drag him down with him! No, Dart needed a new partner! One that is strong, one worthy of his services! Lord Lunaris!

The small Chao attacked the Kut out. It would have bern easy. Unfortunatly. The small Chao underestimated the enemy. Said Kut out fired lasers toward thr small creature.
"Be careful Cheese!" Cream cried.
The Chao was caught off guard and dodged most of the laser. Unfortunatly it got it multiple times. Cheese didn't give up.

That is until Captain Falcon took over and teared the cut out with a flaming hole.
The injured Chao joined his friend.
"Cheese...you did your best." Cream said. The odd cut out had vanished into the foillage...only to reappear moment later behind Lady Odessa.
"Lady Odessa,lookout!" Cream cried.
Fortunatly,it seemed Odessa was sble to deflect a laser beam sent but the cut out.
The young rabbit was relieved. It was cut short though.

"Lookout ,Kupo!" Before Cream would turn,Mog pushed snd and Cheese out of the way...

-----

Mog the Moogle.

"This is getting ridiculus Kupo!" Mog said in annoyence as he watched the cutout.
It was a bad idea to underestimate it though,as said cutout fired laser at the small Chao.
It was no match for captain Falcon though. At first it seemed the cutout was gone. It came back behind Odessa,Cream and Cheese.

Though Odessa had everything under control. Mog was about to assist Odessa with his dances but noticed reptilian creatures coming their way toward them.

With barrels.

What would they need barrels for...wait,did they plan to capture them? Shadow mentioned about his friend Yoshi getting captured. That cutout was only a distraction!

He noticed one of the crocodiles going for Cream.

He flew in urgency toward the young rabbit, dodging the barrel aimed at him.

It was only short lived.

"Look out Kupo!"
Mog pushed Cream and Cheese out of the way.

Then...

...complete darkness.

--------
Shadow the hedgehog.

"Hmph,we don't have time for this." Shadow said, aloud.

What was the enemy thinking? Taunting them with a ridiculous cutout.
His enemies made better distractions then that.
Until said cutout fired lasers. But still. He had no time to waste on that. His allies took care of it.

Hold on..

Something's not right.

Why would the enemy use this to hide themselves?

No...there must be another motive.

Perharps a distraction as they prepared to strike.

Shadow kept his guard up. And he did well.

Footsteps. Getting closer and closer to them. Getting closer to him as well.

"Chaos control!"

Shadow warped out of the way and reappeared behind tbe Klump who attempted to trapped him in a barrel.

"Nice try,but will take more then that for you to capture the ultimate lifeform!"

He kicked the Klump.

Shadow heard someone scresming to let them go. He turned only yo notice another one of those crocodiles attempting to capture Odessa.

He ran ,or rather skated toward them and attempted to kick the Kadplat on the head.

F-Zero_-_Captain_Falcon_as_seen_in_F-Zero_GX_and_F-Zero_AX (1).pngAs the barrel slammed down over his head, Captain Falcon’s world went dark with the unmistakable thunk of cheap wood and sheer audacity.

Silence.

Then—

“…Really?” came his muffled voice from inside the barrel.

The barrel trembled slightly as Falcon shuffled in place, the faint sound of him trying to twist around echoing from within. “I just Falcon Punched a laser-shooting cereal box, and this is how you follow up? A barrel?” Another pause. “Do you have any idea who I am?!”

The barrel started to shake violently.

I AM—

BOOM!
The barrel exploded from the inside out, wooden shards flying in every direction as Captain Falcon burst upward in a spinning blaze of fire, launching himself into the air in a wild, spiraling uppercut.

FALCON BARREL BREAKER!!

He landed in a three-point stance, steam rising from his shoulders, splinters in his gloves. He looked around sharply, just in time to see Odessa being carried off by a jacked-up Kremling like she was the weird prize from a jungle crane game.

“HEY!” he barked, straightening with renewed fury. “That’s our suspiciously moody magical lady!”

Falcon took off in a sprint, blazing a trail after Kasplat and the reappeared cardboard menace. “No more barrels! No more cardboard! NO MORE MONKEY BUSINESS!

The Moblin deflated. "Aww, me not know much about manbirds! Moblins like darkness, light from manbirds hurt Moblins. General order no fight manbirds. Me not even know how to get to manbird home. ... OH!" The soldier suddenly perked up. "Me just remember!" His blood-red eyes shifted left and right before he leaned toward Joker as if about to share a deep secret. "Me remember Wizzrobe saying birdmen, chorizos, pick fight with manbird angles. Say manbirds and birdmen no bother Lord Lunaris! Dat all me know! Promises! Me not tell about Smash Brothers. Just wanna go home! If bring food, me be your bestest friend!"

Birdmen chorizos? That hardly made sense to Toon Link, but he believed the Moblin when he said he knew no more. Toon Link knew of another way to get information: by talking to the townsfolk. The little Hylian put away his Skull Hammer and waved at Joker to get his attention. After sharing with the older Smash Brother what his plan was, he dressed into his blue lobster shirt and orange leggings. He remembered that the Smash Brothers were wanted criminals; best to not look like one! Maybe Joker will join him?

After leaving the farmhouse, Toon Link tried to speak to every person he saw. While there were some hard-hearted people who were quick to shoo away nosy kids, there were just as many willing to vent their woes to a listening ear.

"Bah, things have gone downhill ever since the Hands disappeared and Lunaris took over," a grizzled farmhand remarked as he chopped wood. "I suppose we could've gotten it much worse: General Mugorl has control o' this land. I hear the folks in the seas where Krook rules are havin' it real rough."

Toon Link scowled at the mention of the pirate Kremling!

"I'm not keen on bein' ruled by a Moblin," the farmhand continued, "but he took care o' any raiders and thieves that threatened us, and he quickly chopped down a tax collector that was skimmin' off the top fer himself and returned what was stolen. He's got some honor for a Moblin, I'll give 'im that."

Toon Link raised a brow. An honorable Moblin? He can't say he has ever heard of such a thing!

A young mother out with her little son was quick to share her concerns. "It isn't just the drought that worries me, but I believe people are becoming more evil. Lately there have been strange figures in robes lurking about at night. I've heard talk of a 'Cult of Orcos.' I've heard rumors about another cult, the Cult of Duality, recruiting people in a town nearby. Cults! These people are nothing but liars and thieves trying to take advantage of our hardship and despair. You best stay away from them, understand? No good can come from joining them! Oh, fates preserve us!"

"Aww, what a cute little boy!" an elderly woman gushed as she patted Toon Link's head. "Angels? I'm afraid no one here has seen even a feather of one for months, dear. There are a number of folk who worship Lady Palutena, but the offerings at Her altar have been left to spoil or be stolen by animals or thieves." She sighed and gazed up at the sky. A Golden Eye zipped by. "After the Brawl Tournament, it is said that Lady Palutena gifted our Realm with golden waters from the heavens. It rained in the mountains and fell to the plains in a stream. Those blessed waters made the land fertile, and that is why there are farms and ranches in abundance here. But now the river has dried up. Have we done something to displease Our Lady?"

Toon Link shook his head vehemently. Of course not! Lady Palutena loved humans, or so She claimed, and he was certain that even if She had caused the drought, Pit would have done anything to stop it! There had to be a connection between the drought, the disappearance of the angels, and this supposed fight with these "chorizos!"

"Psst! Hey!" a loud whisper hissed from behind an old shed. A shifty young man of about Joker's age, dressed in dusty brown overalls and a matching cabbie cap was beckoning him! "You look like you got nerve and sneaky feet! How's about you help me liberate some food from the pigs?"

Right now, both Joker and Toon Link were doing a good job interogating the moblin.
He talked about some.."manbirds" ..."birdmen" and..."chorizos"? At first it was getting confusing. He did recall that the moblin served a certain General Muguri that was allied with Lord Lunaris.
Still on those "manbirds " he mentioned them being..."angle"
Angle...birdman..as in angels.
Noctis doubted that it could be the messangers of the Astrals from his homeland,Eos. Thought there was an angel here right.

"They're talking about Pit right?" Prompto asked."From that game Kid Icarus?"

It seemed his best had caught on too.

"Hey,moblin guy! Are those angle manbird guys friends of Pit?" Prompto asked.

The moblin pleaded them to led him go and asked them for food.

Noctis sighed and brought out a small bag of chips and handed it to Joker. "I don't know if this guy desreve food, but he did collaborate, but it will still be up to you." The prince said to the Phantom thief.

They noticed that Toon Link changed clothes. He did remember that each veteran Super Smash Brothers were branded as criminals. "You got the right idea Link." Noctis told him.

"Maybe we should investigate and do our share of ...you know, asking?"
"Yeah,good idea Noct!" Prompto said.

They also went in town asking people from door to door if they had intel on those angels, covering more ground for Toon Link.

First house...

"Excuse me,do you know about General Mugori? About the angels?" Noctis asked.

Second house....

"You know anything about those Moblins? I heard they were causing you trouble!" Prompto said.

For that brief moment that the gang suddenly found themselves under a confrontation with a Moblin, it was actually Daisy, who in spite of her beautiful appearance and know-how of the political landscape due to her status as a Princess; didn't take the lead, restraining herself from shoving straight into Joker's verbal standoff with the beast. The metaphorical shackles of her time spent in Sarsaland seemed to influence her, the responsibilities she had getting in the way of her actions. God knows she still wanted to give Lunaris a clear piece of her mind, but considering she still felt like she had something to represent even with her being as free as she had ever been since the previous Tournament, she held back.

However, the Moblin spluttering out information did seem to show some thought being invoked from her facial expression. Birdmen... chorizo? Wiser minds would know that she was missing the point, but what would a Moblin know about avian beings and food? The only birdman she knew of was her fellow tournament competitor in Falco Lombardi, but even she didn't think he had anything to do of this. To put things simply, she was drawing upon blanks. Blanks that would make her clearly pout.

"Chorizos? Ugh, what would Peach do at a situation like this..." She'd curse to herself, but thankfully it wasn't enough for her to dwell on the issue at hand, when the focus shifted more towards Toon Link - the supposed leader of the group - began a hint of information gathering, his youth and cute green clothing definitely helping with making those who lived in the farmlands more comfortable. She was more than happy to watch at a safe distance away from the group this point; her appearance wouldn't have exactly been the most welcoming, between her status as a wanted criminal and her clearly recognizable yellow gown...

And that was when the mention of the Kremlings thanks to Krook grabbed her attention. She didn't know what a 'Chorizo' was courtesy of the Moblin, but she knew all too well about the krafty Kremlings. And she responded in turn, perhaps a little too loudly, despite the fact that she had separated herself from the group at this point. "Kremlings? Of course, they're here as well! I've only really interacted with them whenever Peach holds a sporting event, but I know all too well what they're like. Idiotic, rotten thieves! Ugh, if King K. Rool were here I'd give that big-bellied bruiser a piece of my..."

She was just about ready to throw a gloved jab straight into the air as to show what she'd do the next time she came face to face with the crocodile crook... until she came to understand her actions. Clearly realizing she was getting a little emotional over this, she gave a moment to stop herself, taking a breath to step back. The duality of her grace as a Princess and her open thoughts clashing against each other like swords in a battlefield. Thankfully cooler heads won for now, as Daisy tried to continue listening in...

Chats about cults, one of the competitors in Lady Palutena, and a dried river that has left the farmlands in uncertain times... Until one thing crossed her mind, causing her to gasp.

"Wait! I think I remember seeing one of those angels...!"

She exclaimed, before rushing over back to the gang with excitement as she confidently tapped a gloved finger onto one of her temples in thought. Maybe it wasn't the best call for her to immediately expose herself and draw attention, but for once she actually had half-decent information to give. "It happened around the time I came back here to the Realms... I didn't quite get a good look on who he was, but he looked like he was dressed in black instead of white like Pit does. Some 'angel', I remember seeing him being cornered by a bunch of Goombas and Koopas before I laid the hurt on them and saved his life... I'm not sure where he went after that though."

Mythra rolled her eyes at Pit's words and slowly shook her head. The way he addressed her irritated her beyond belief, and while she wanted to chew him out, she held her tongue. There was some truth in what he spoke even if she didn't want to admit to it. Meeting Lunaris sooner rather than later could give them the opportunity to end this chaos though she had her doubts that they would even be allowed to get close to him. If he feared them enough to make them wanted then why would he wish to meet them face to face? It seemed counterproductive in her own mind, but there was no telling if that would even happen in the end. All of it was riddled with what ifs that could go either way.

"Fine..." she huffed as she pinched the bridge of her nose between her thumb and index fingers. "If you want to do this, then you can. I only agree on the condition that I won't have to ride a bird myself. I refuse to do such ridiculous things."

It was better than nothing, though she had no desire of making a fool of herself by riding some goofy looking bird. Perhaps it was petty of her to feel such a way, but she didn't care at all. If she was going to be dragged along it would be merely for combat purposes and facing Lunaris than getting sidetracked by some racing. The others would simply have to accept that fact and deal with it. Besides, Pyra didn't seem to object either. If anything she had fallen quiet, knowing there was no convincing Mythra any further than she already had. Maybe if the situation came up, she would suggest swapping out to deal with things. Mythra wouldn't be surprised if she did. If that was what Pyra wanted, then so be it, but for now she would hold herself true to what she wanted.

"Now if we're going to do this, then we better get going. I want to get this done with sooner rather than later," she remarked harshly as her arms crossed over her chest and her eyes flickered towards the chocobo they were offered. "You better figure out how to ride this thing real quick, Pit."

Without another word, the Aegis swiftly turned on her heels and began moving away. While she had no clue which direction they had to go off in, she was not willing to hear what might be said given her own compliance. The last thing she wanted was praise or even backlash for her choice of words. All she wanted was to get moving and push aside yet another ridiculous side mission, if she could even call it that.

Down in the dungeons of the Flying Citadel, the tip-tap of a walking stick echoed softly as Cranky Kong paced around his cell, grumbling to himself as was his wont.

"Imprisoned again! Why if I were in my prime I'd fold that masked mummer like a napkin in towel in a picnic chair! Can't rely on my dim-witted grandson and his flea-bitten buddies. Oh noooooo, it's the pretty-faced swordsmen that the kids are into these days! Too many swordsmen in the roster, that's the problem! Whatever happened to settling things with good ol' fisticuffs and a tossed barrel or two? Bah!"

Light poured into the dungeon from small barred windows. As time passed and the shadows shifted, a shape hidden in the cell across from him caught the old gorilla's eye.

"Eh? What's that?"

Cranky approached the bars of his cell to get a closer look. He squinted his eyes as he tried to make out what was hidden in the shadows of the other prison cell, polished his spectacles and grumbled, then peered into the darkness again. His eyes practically bulged from their sockets when he recognized just what, or whom, the occupant was!

It was the trophy of Super Mario himself!

"Mario?!" Cranky shouted. He immediately cleared his throat and adjusted his glasses before glaring at the petrified form of his old foe. "So, Lunaris got you too, eh? Hmph, as much as I'd like to gloat over your misfortune, this only means things are more dire than I thought!" Cranky reached into his sweater and pulled out a vial that contained one of his potions. "Good thing I always carry this in case of emergency." He pulled out the cork and downed the liquid in one gulp.

Kap'n Krook was quite pleased! After turning in Cranky and K. Lumsy, Lord Lunaris agreed to reward the Kremling and his small krew with a new galleon with which he can return to terrorizing the sea of the Smash Realm!

Krook removed his tricorn hat and bowed deeply. "Yaar, 'tis a pleasure doing business with ye, my lord!"

Lunaris and Krook went into the castle to discuss the design of the new ship. The disgraced Klay rubbed his snout, grumbling bitterly to himself. Spotting Kip and his Koopa Krew, he decided to take out his humiliation on them, striking them down and kicking them after they instinctively withdrew into their shells. Their torment was brief as the transparent form of Cranky Kong materialized beside Pauline, scaring off both Kremling and Koopa.

"AHH! A G-G-GHOST!"

"Mercy on me pore soul! First the Ghost Ship, now the Flyin' Citadel!"

Immediately taking advantage of the situation, Cranky addressed Pauline. "Pauline, my dear! Listen, there isn't much time! You need to get outta here! Mario is held prisoner down here, as I am! Find the Smash Brothers! They must know! Go! GO!"

The two Kremling Kritters puppeteering the Kut-Out watched dumbly as Captain Falcon and Shadow shot right past them. They scrambled to turn the Kut-Out around.

"H-HEY! Get back here! Lord Lunaris DEMANDS it! Surrender now! ... Please?"

"Monkey business?!" the Kasplat shouted indignantly, skidding to a halt. He tossed Odessa to a Kritter who was running alongside him and turned to face Captain Falcon and Shadow. The large, muscular Kremling blocked Shadow's kick with his fist then raised both fists in the air to slam them into the ground, sending out a shockwave. "I am Kremling, and I will KRUSH you! KA-SPLAT!"

The Klump that had been unceremoniously kicked aside by Shadow raised his head to see the Kritter running off with Odessa. "T-target acquired! Mission accomplished! Let's get outta here, men!"

Another Klump hoisted the barrel with Mog trapped inside it. "At least we got one of 'em! Let's go!"

A third Klump had a barrel raised to re-attempt the capture Cream and Cheese. Upon taking a good look at his would-be victims, the Klump's heart melted and he gently placed the barrel on the ground. He knelt before the little rabbit. "Aww, what's two cute little nippers like you doing out here? This is no place for children to be!"

"Move out, soldier!" the stern voice of the Klump Kommander shouted.

The unfortunate trooper threw a smart salute. "R-right away, Kommander!" He ran off as fast as his plump, round body would allow!

Odessa yelped as she was tossed to the other reptile like a sack of laundry. The Kritter grinned foolishly at the priestess as he ran. "Don't worry, missie! You'll be safe soon! Gosh, I wonder if this is what it's like to be a hero?"

He sensed the Gekkos coming to intercept him; their interference is quite troublesome. Unlike those abominations that faced him before, these seemed quite intelligent—artificial intelligence. “Alright then, I have no choice except to do battle.” He would rather make haste for the dark realm than throw himself into a fight not so long after taking a direct hit from the railgun. It forced him to shift his battle strategy rather than implementing his brute force methods, which seemed to work well for him. He reached inside his black coat to procure some materia that’s rarely used by him; it’s only decoration now. He counted the Graviga spell as part of his arsenal. Naturally, the three elemental magics are fire, blizzard, and thunder. Independent materia would have been useful in theory, except he found them quite useless. He simply cast a physical barrier around him to lower damage done by the Gekkos, doubting they are magically attuned like him.

He’s cut off from escape like a predator cutting off their hunt. Sephiroth had his back turned to them, luckily, quietly arranging the materia into the nodes on his dominant glove. He noticed the materia blending into his skin, how Sephiroth wishes to dive deep into the mysteries of the conception of materia; maybe that endeavor will be crossed at some point later. He shifted his gaze onto the Gekkos mentality, counting the lot of them. “ Your creators don't know when to give up.” He flew a good distance out of the way, calculating the Graviga and Thundaga spells to have a wide radius. With a flick of his wrist, he cast Graviga; its gravitational pull should make escaping meaningless. No one can escape gravity with the exception of natural immunity, which he has yet to find an enemy resistant to. He followed Graviga with his Thundaga, giving them little chance for respite.

They’re indeed more artificially intelligent than his last enemies; they still are vulnerable to the biting shock of his thunder magic. He pauses as he calculates his next move, waiting for the mana energies to wane before springing back into action. He suspects they are created to adapt to situations that made this somewhat interesting. Yet, he’s unforgiving for having his DNA used against his will. When the mana was no longer present in the environment, he grasped his Masamune. “Telluric Fury.” He charged at them, making three deadly precise cuts. The weight of his ability caused more environmental damage after hitting them with his spells. He clicked his tongue quietly, observing the damage by his spells and ability. Yet, this is just one of his many powers under his belt.

Want to know what acidic poison does to your body?” He reached back into his coat to pull out a bio materia. He added it to his glove, knowing the poison will be a good addition to his arsenal. He casts the spell, watching as the Gekkos are dragged into a thick toxic plume of poisonous bubbles; its effect will leave cosmetic burns. The bio magic is a painful spell that leaves normal humans with burns and the poison status effect, a nasty ailment. He waits to see what the Gekkos are made of.

Cyan was impressed by the disciplined airs the city has; he’s not off the mark after all. There’s respect the former retainer has for the Legionnaire it’s rightfully earned. He had walked silently, quietly observing the domain, copping a feel for himself of their strength. Eyeing the Gymnatai, Hoplites, and Peltasts training in synchronized rhythm is a definitive throwback to those bygone days of his meticulous training under the Doma Kingdom’s royal family. Every part of his life felt scheduled; training never ended.

A closer look at the tower reminded him of Doma’s night watch, who were tasked with the safety of the kingdom. It’s a stringent job; he made sure to keep their spirits alive with a kind word here and there. With the rumors of the empire invading, he made damn sure to keep the morale alive. Some of the soldiers were barely adults. It pushed Cyan to grow more. After the invasion and what occurred next.

His spar with the Dark Knut left him with a sense of vigor; he’s willing to put his might to the test again. He made silent notes of the polished dark marble and then the ancient ruins, bespeaking of their history. He had a mind to regale the Legionnaire's culture and customs, quite fascinated by the wealth of knowledge he saw so far. A vessel of information comes with the package of his life as Doma’s retainer.

The very knowledge that Zalunbar will be partaking in seeing his test left him with questions and a sense of giving it his all. Although Cyan, like Peregrine, wondered how far the rabbit joke goes. His eyes went to the sparring circle, which was similarly made with the black marble. “To test my resolve and mettle.” He mumbles to himself.

He pressed his hand to his chest as a way of showing respect for the Legionnaire. “ I accept this challenge.” He gave the Dark Nut a bow out of respect for what they represented. Impressed by their customs and culture, he hopes to learn more if he can.
