Also, sorry for the awkward-looking parts of the map or any typos. I got invested so I had to set a timer and make myself be done. More coming soon! Anyway, feel free to toss out ideas here too (including ideas already shared in the interest check).

I just realized none of the labels were saved when I sent the map! So sorry about that. Here is the version with labels (ignore the file name, it won’t let me change it for some reason).

Here’s the last bit of major lore I wanted to share, I think can come as we go unless someone thinks otherwise!

Socii - powerful collectives that exert influence on the world’s study of magic, religions, and preservation of history; many Remnants do not identify with a socii but most have one they respect; their primary dwellings are indicated by the creature icons on the map:

  • The Decika (deh-sik-uh; Northern region of Loneao): Named for one of the long-dead creatures buried in the peaks of Orrako, the Decika is an exclusive society that serves as the priesthood and natural scientists for much of Loneao. Tradition in the country expects Loneao’s monarch to hold close ties to the Decika, possibly even spending time with one of its sects.
  • Eyo (a-yo; forest region in northern Hollowlands/southern Korok): A magic-training collective that believes in learning from others and as a community. They have small villages where students come to live, work, and study, but nothing is required of a student once they choose to leave. A few build families in Eyo villages, but it is considered a rare and difficult calling because of the rapidly changing community and lack of stability, though it is considered safe.
  • The High Warden (Outside of Gaiadem, Calsire’s capital): The self-proclaimed guardians of magic, the High Warden runs the most prestigious Remnant academy in the land, and they are dedicated to using magic to pursue honor and justice. The High Warden is also closely connected to Calsire’s government.
  • Wraith Colonies (all over, mostly plains of Calsire and outside of Orison): the Wraith Colonies are communities of Remnants that do not belong with the rest of society, and many wraiths have magic that “negatively” alter their appearance, regularly harm others, or is otherwise uncontrollable or uncomfortable. While not a formal organization or school of thought, what to do about wraiths and wraith colonies is a common socio-political discussion
  • Threadwalkers (the Weald): Threadwalkers seek to see beyond themselves and trace the webs that reveal the whole of reality. They believe magic reveals truth, and while theories on the Storm abound, many believe that magic will be no longer and that they will perish at that time as well.
  • Halcyon/The Discipleship (believed to be in the southeastern islands): considered a cult of assassins by most, the Halcyon are rarely seen in groups. They welcome the Annihilus Storm and believe that pushing the boundaries of one’s magical ability and humanity will reveal to an individual the greater power that will rise after the storm. Sometimes, this involves killing certain magic users on behalf of the Discipleship or being hired killers in order to sustain the group and break down one’s humanity. The Discipleship, in keeping with their founder Scola’s teachings, regard relics with contempt, believing that their use is impure and corrupting.
